Let me tell you guys something. If you think voting for Sara Palin is the right thing to do because she is a woman, think again.

Read this article it's on how SHE CHARGED RAPE VICTIMS FOR RAPE KITS AND FORENSIC EXAMINATIONS. She didn't stop the policy until it was brought to her "attention" BY THE MEN. For some of you, it's abortion, for me and so many others, it's Domestic Violence and Rape...

And make no mistake, Alaska is at the top of the list on Domestic Violence. Get some earmarks for that. Reform that. Write a bill about that. Do some investigating regarding that. Fire the public safety commisioner because of that.

If this is the woman you want, then you guys can have her. I just hope and pray you don't experience DV or sexual assault.

Please tell us all that you are not a simpleton who is so easily deceived by Democrat smear campaigns,

The police chief of Wasilla (not Sara Palin) had a policy of billing the insurance companies of rape victims for the cost of a rape kit, which evidently can run as much as $1500. The rape victims themselves were never billed, only the insurance companies. The police chief explained this policy because Wasilla is a small town with a limited budget, and he was trying to be fiscally responsible.

The left-wing press, on a mission to immediatly destroy Sara Palin by any means possible, printed this nonsense in several places, most prominently in USA Today. It is a blatant hit piece, and nothing more.

Please spare us your frothing-at-the-mouth indignation and use some of your God-given common sense.

Thanks Jimbo, you captured the truth in your posting as I have read about also as being the real deal about the whole Rape Kit issue. But Obama supporters will never go with THAT explanation cuz it is juicier to think that the actual rape victims are the ones who pay for these kits, which they do not. I will add one other note, those who do not have insurance (on welfare) the Medicaid system picks up on the cost in those instances.

. . . that is, before the new bill went in to change this practice.

Many of us here know all about the rape kit issue..thank you for posting though.

Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, Bear Sterns, Lehman Brothers, AIG and the rest of the failed institutions have failed primarily because of former Senator Phil Gramm. The Gramm-Leach-Biley Act stripped away the regulations separating banking from investment companies, insurance companies and mortgage guaranty companies. Those regulations were added after the Great Depression when it became obvious that allowing banks to be in bed with the stock market was a sure way to rig the system to collapse, as it did in 1929.

Lo an behold, a few years after the regulations were removed, the sh!t has hit the fan, and the inter-related investment, insurance, mortgage and banking industries are now starting to collapse, and guess what, you, the taxpayer will have to pay to clean it up.

Phil Gramm is the Senator who brought you the "Enron Loophole" that de-regulated futures trading, causing the prices of oil, gas and food to spiral out of control.

Senator Phil Gramm was McCain's top economic advisor until recently, when he was forced to step down after he said that there is no problem with our economy other than a "mental recession" on the part of a "nation of whiners." Phil Gramm is the man who McCain said he wants to name Secretary of the Treasury if he becomes President. You have to believe John McCain when he says that he knows little about the economy -- so little that he doesn't even know who to choose as an advisor.

Barack Obama addressed the Enron Loophole, futures trading, short-selling and Wall Street de-regulation months ago in his economic position papers, which are available on his website. Obama has been saying all along that he is going to put in strict regulations and clean up Wall Street.

McCain just started saying that he favors regulation in the past couple of weeks. How is it that McCain is going to put in new regulations, when he plans to appoint Phil Gramm, the man who caused the de-regulation, as Secretary of the Treasury? McCain says he would fire Christopher Cox, the SEC Chairman, to solve the problem. However, the problem is caused by lack of regulations on the legislative level, regulations that were removed before Cox was appointed. The SEC can only enforce regulations that actually exist, so making a scapegoat of Cox solves nothing. I would suggest that McCain is guilty of saying what's politically expedient, that he does not actually intend to regulate the banking industry. McCain knows that most Americans are unaware of the details.

I am a middle-aged white conservative Republican who loves America. I am voting for Barack Obama.

SAMPLING OF OBAMAs. . . Close circle of Friends, Colleagues, Campaign fundraisers, terrorists, radical / racists, anti-America pastor, radical mentors, and other controversial associations / relationships: Does anyone see a PATTERN? Its not one, not two, but a whole slew of choices Obama made for people to surround himself with during his rise in politics over the years. . .which makes one truly question Obamas beliefs, his values, his integrity and his character as a man who is running for POTUS:

Rove also described the choice of Palin as a "political pick," and said she was not the most qualified Republican McCain could have chosen. But Rove also said Joe Biden, who has spent three decades in the Senate, was also a political pick ??? designed to make up for Barack Obama's relatively short resume.

I am one of many Canadians who is astounded and appalled by McCain's cynical and irresponsible choice of running mate. Why do Americans consistently choose "good ol' boys" over intelligence and competance? (And don't let Palin's hairdo fool you -- she's just one more in a long line of ill-educated frat boys foolish enough to think they're able enough to run the most powerful country on the planet.) It should have been Gore, not Bush, all those years ago: The world would be in better shape now. Let's hope that this time American voters redeem themselves and choose character and first-rate abilities over the crass ignorance and politucal posturing epitomized by Palin and McCain.

      Thank you for your opinion.

And I thank you for your opinion & courtesy. After all, whatever happens in America (politically, socially, economically) has global repercussions. This election affects all of us. Our planet can no longer afford parochial attitudes or isolationist policies. Benjamin Franklin said it best: "We must hang together, gentlemen...else, we shall most assuredly hang separately."
Since 9/11 hundreds of Canadian soldiers have died in Afghanistan on America's behalf: This, If nothing else, entitles Canada to an opinion about this election.

A fellow blogger on this site, Davole, happened to mention this subject today to me, and I had it on a back burner. Thank you, Davole, for bringing this issue to the forefront. For that reason I thought I would pull out this topic for Obama supporters to comment on cuz I know I for one would be interested in hearing what you think of this plan that (last I knew) Obama still planned on implementing if he became POTUS:

Obamas Plans For Global Wealth Redistribution
    Saturday, February 16, 2008

This is not getting as much attention as it should:

Unnoticed by most Americans this week, the Obama/Hagel GLOBAL POVERTY ACT was quickly approved by a senate committee and cleared for the next step, debate in a democrat-controlled senate.

The GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is unique in its breathtaking scope. It is NOT FOREIGN-AID. The Act will require the President and Congress to set aside .07% of the annual Gross National Product - our GNP - to be DISTRIBUTED AROUND THE GLOBE to RELIEVE POVERTY at a cost of about $800 billion dollars annually TO TAXPAYERS. It is Barack Obamas response to the call of the Bali Global Warming Conference for a global carbon tax; a BLATANT REDISTRIBUTION OF THE PLANETS WEALTH to the powerless.

Coupled with his riveting stump speeches which generate huge emotional reactions from his equally huge audiences - speeches which literally CALL FOR A REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH right here AT HOME AS WELL - Barack Obamas sponsorship of the GLOBAL POVERTY ACT gives us a CHILLING PREVIEW of an Obama presidency.

Just to put that $800 BILLION into perspective, realize that IT IS MORE THAN HALF
of what we spend on entitlements now. What Obama is proposing is an approximately 65% INCREASE IN ENTITLEMENT SPENDING (huh?????), except that this time the ENTITLEMENTS ARE NOT EVEN FOR AMERICANS!!

That is an ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY that AMERICANS, already heavily burdened with taxes, CAN ILL-AFFORD to pay. So why should we have to pay it? Because OBAMA, the DEMOCRATS and their LIBERAL BUDDIES in the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY have decided that it is what AMERICA???S TITHING SHOULD BE in order to achieve the rather VAGUE GOAL of FIGHTING GLOBAL POVERTY.

Of course, one would think that before Americans are required to foot this heavy new entitlements bill OBAMA and HIS COMRADES would have TO PROVE that any of the money America has spent before on FIGHTING POVERTY has moved us any closer at all to actually ENDING poverty; but that probably makes too much sense.

Maybe, INSTEAD OF FORCING AMERICANS TO PAY FOR THIS FOREIGN AID, Obama could just set up a new CHECK BOX on our TAX DOCUMENTS letting US VOLUNTEER to send the money if we want to. Because if his idea is a good one lots and lots of Americans would support it, RIGHT?

      Share -

A slight correction is in order, due to a misplaced decimal point -

Obama's sleazy attempt to enact the U.N. plan would force the U.S. to pay 0.7 (not .07 as you have stated) percent of GNP, thereby adding about $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already donates as foreign aid.

But I guess that would only be mere chump change for the Hollywood crowd with which Obama (the candidate who falsely claims to represent the average taxpayer) prefers to associate.

The problem is that would require every man, woman, and child in the US to pay at least an extra $2000
per year to finance the UN plan, and I doubt that the generous Hollywood crowd would offer to pay that sum themselves instead of expecting the whole population to "foot the bill".

I've also amassed several articles which further explain the catastrophic devastating impact which this UN plan would have on the US economy, and I will try to post a summary of that information within 1 or 2 days.

In the meantime, I invite all bloggers and viewers to do an internet search on the Global Poverty Act, and to contact the main stream media news programs to request proper revelation and discussion of this devastating topic.

I would suggest that we do not post duplicate blogs in succession on the same day, despite the very grave consequences of this Obama and Biden sponsored Global Poverty Act.

Instead, it may be more effective if we post our comments daily.

Lori, if you're viewing our discussion, please feel free to join in.

Before one makes incorrect statements about who has the capacity to fix the economy, once again I suggest people do their homework and not just sit and rant incorrect talking points.

Attached are two (2) links that substantiate this information. One you will note is the NY Times, which is about as left wing liberal as one can get.

    http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=75586

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/19/business/19fannie.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Unlike Obama, McCain identified the Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac (FM/FM) issues a number of years ago. In 2005, McCain cosponsored legislation, The Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005??? Yes, do you see the word REFORM??

I certainly Do Not want Obama anywhere near the US economy!

Here are some notes from the article??? Please, before you rant and rave??? go to the links and do your homework first:
The bill passed the House but was never brought up for a vote in the Senate, largely because of Democratic opposition to change in the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regulatory structure that remained in place until the Treasury takeover two weeks ago.

Instead, Democrats in Congress have sought to preserve the quasi-governmental status of the mortgage giants, seeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as places to locate former top Democratic Party operatives, where they have earned millions in compensation, despite a continuing series of financial scandals. Enron-like accounting manipulation, for example, boosted earnings to a level at which massive executive bonuses could be paid.

All three Obama-related executives earned millions in compensation from Fannie Mae.

Johnson earned $21 million in just his last year serving as Fannie Mae CEO from 1991 to 1998; Raines earned $90 million in his five years as Fannie Mae CEO, from 1999 to 2004; and Gorelick earned an estimated $26 million serving as vice chair of Fannie Mae from 1998 to 2003, according to author David Frum, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

All three have been involved in mortgage-related financial scandals.

In 1998, according to the Washington Post, Gorelick, as Fannie Mae vice chairman, received a bonus of $779,625, despite a scandal in which employees falsified signatures on accounting transactions to manipulate books to meet 1998 earning targets. The moves, in turn, triggered multi-million-dollar bonuses for top executives.

Gorelick was embroiled in another controversy over an alleged conflict of interest when a 1995 memo she authored as deputy attorney general surfaced while she was a member of the 9/11 commission.

The regulators said an accounting fraud at Fannie Mae included manipulations to reach earnings targets so that Mr. Raines, Mr. Howard, Ms. Spencer and other company executives could pocket hundreds of millions in bonuses from 1998 to 2004.

McCain should be ashamed for picking Palin because she is not qualified or ready to be just one step away from being President. When asked a question she does not answer the question and has mastered the art of being evasive and secretive. There may be some that will vote for her because she is a woman but not this woman. McCain/Palin never address the issues that are facing Americans. When they asked the question at the town hall meeting about equal pay for women, she started talking about girls basketball and McCain added that she was a point guard. This had nothing to do with the question asked and his base who were in attendance applauded as if she had given some profound answer to the question. This is ridiculous and I can not wait until November 4th.

Palin is starting to show her true colors. Can't answer a question when asked. Fumbling over her question like Bush. She is just as bad as these right wing yackers who can't answer one simple question about a woman and her racist church.

I am a woman who knows that it's not the gender that makes a good public servant, but their policies. I, for one, will not be voting for a woman who has no idea what the "Bush Doctrine" is, thinks that dinosaurs are a myth, and is under investigation for firing her trooper brother-in-law after he divorced her sister. It would be great to have a woman in office, but not at the expense of our future and our children's future.

She didn't know WHICH Bush doctrine he meant. That is why she needed clarification. And about her believing that the dinosaurs were a myth...She never said that. I challenge you to find the audio or video where she made that statement. Don't put words in her mouth!

      • Posted By: LynnPA @ 09/18/2008 4:23:02 PM

Actually, you are all incorrect. Below is the reply I sent to the authors of this article. If anyone here actually took the time to do the research, they would know that this is actually a very complicated scenario, because there is no Bush-Doctrine like one would speak about the Monroe doctrine. Bush did change is focus (what some are calling his doctrine) multiple times as a means of adjusting to the changing events. It is NOT Written anywhere!

        To the Authors:
Before you make a comment, you would do well to do your homework. FYI, there are 4-Bush doctrines, if you can call them that. Officially there is nothing in writing... the information is primarily in speeches. Furthermore, Palin WAS CORRECT, she referenced the most recent of the 4-doctrines, whereas your Charles Gibson was two doctrines behind... HIS BAD !!

Finally, the bottom-line is, Palin, as the number 2 has far more experience than Obama as the number 1. And since everyone is concerned about presidential experience... the fault lies with Obama... talk about arrogance... he is far from ready and I find it an insult that anyone would equate leading this complicated country in a complex uncertain world to that of a community organizer... my children deserve a better future.

There is only one Bush Doctrine it has been re-interpreted several times.

BUT IT HAS NEVER BEEN INTERPRETED AS BUSH'S "WORLD VIEW" LOL!

I would have respected her more if she had admitted that she didn't know what it was instead of making something up!

Evne my 15 year old nephew knows what the Bush Doctrine is...learned in school. Did Palin attend any classes? Guess not even though she did attend six different colleges to get one degree..

      Hi P,

McCain keeps portraying Palin as if ALL women support her, well there are quite a few women in Alaska who are upset about this and do not in anyway support or relate to her. Just Shady!

John McCain knew that Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac would collapse, and thereby unjustly burden the American public!

In 2005, Senator John McCain cosponsored the Federal Housing Enterprise Reform Act to regulate the powers and procedures of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac.

These 2 massive federal finance agencies had been operating without controls in a blatant irresponsible manner, and had been found guilty in court of falsifying financial records and statements in order to provide supposed justification for bonuses to be given to their higher echelon administrators.

These 2 organizations had been coerced by Democrats, who because of political opportunism, wanted them to grant mortgages to individuals who would be unable to make their required monthly payments. That would be in accordance with the irresponsible Democrat belief that everyone should be entitled to have their own home, irrespective of their actual ability to afford that luxury.

Both of these mortgage lending institutions have contributed massive financial sums to support the political aspirations of Chris Dodd and Barack Obama.

Senator John McCain realized 3 years ago that fraudulent transactions were rampant within these 2 enterprises, and that they would soon collapse if remedial action was not undertaken.

Their bankruptcy would result in the American taxpayers having to go into debt to resurrect or ???bail-out??? these fraudulent Congress protected entities.

As was to be expected, this proposal to institute meaningful financial reform measures was obstructed by the Democrats in the Senate, and the proposal failed to be adopted.

This year, due to the Democrat furor over the collapse of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, the American taxpayers are burdened by having to pay a minimum of 450 billion dollars to ???bail out??? these 2 recklessly managed lending companies.

John McCain exposed and opposed the corrupt lending practices of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac.
Barack Obama ???milked the system??? and profited by obstructing reform of their corrupt lending practices.

Democrats have demonstrated that they can wreck the mortgage industry.

Are you willing to vote them into office, and give them a blank check to mismanage the American economy, security, and health care?

So McCain did what ...nothing. Exposed it, when Tuesday?

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 09/18/2008 2:28:22 PM

He couldn't do anything because his buddy and camp advisor, ex Sen. Phil Gramm, is up to his neck in it.

Women might be blinded by a Palin candidacy, but they will turn away from her when all of her lies, deceit, and criminal activity is opened by the Alaska Legislature and the Sate and Federal courts, to make Palin a destructive force to women and an embarassment to her gender.

No it is true Palin did support Rape Victims in Alaska being responsible for paying for their rape kits. Look it up on the net. Anytime that you wish to verify something that you read on these boards just look it up on the net as everytime the candidates sneeze it is caught on tape.

Hey folks, this is a great one too, she's real earthy alright:
"The governor did have a tanning bed put in the Governor's Mansion," Roger Wetherell, chief communications officer of Alaska's Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, confirmed to this newspaper. "It was done shortly after she took office [in early 2007] and moved into the mansion."
Ben Smith of the Politico confirmed the report.

    • Posted By: Pallisor @ 09/15/2008 7:59:15 PM

A tanning bed? You've hit the bottom of the barrel on this one. I guess now you'll break out a jack hammer.

The fact is she's spending 25% of what the previous governer spent while in office.

I guess there's no sense in asking someone like you to come up some real issues....

      • Posted By: lexi97701 @ 09/15/2008 8:57:55 PM

Yeah, and why don't you pay for it with your tax money and pay for your own rape kits as a victim, obviously I'm speaking to men! You could care less. I sure as heck would rather see my tax money spent on something worthy...how about educaiton, and not aerial hunting of predators and tanning beds!
and no I'm not pale and lonely, I am married and we enjoy a healthy outdoors lifestyle, tanning beds are for fake wanna be's, once a beauty queen, always a beauty queen, not what we need in office.
Come on ladies, wake up, read, think. I'm not asking you to just believe me, I'm asking you to read everything you can, and check the facts. She's not really well liked by any body with a brain in Alaska.

So you're saying that 82% of Alaskans don't have a brain. Because that's how many people disagree with you. And so you decide that tanning beds are for fake wanna bes. Climb off your elitest, liberal high horse and stop thinking you know what's best or what we need in America... You don't know sh!t about what other people need or want.

    Republican congressman endorses Obama

Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, a maverick Republican from Maryland, endorsed Illinois Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president in an interview Wednesday with WYPR, Baltimore's National Public Radio station.

Gilchrest, who lost a primary campaign and is retiring from Congress, has already endorsed the Democrat running for his seat, Frank Kratovil. Justifying his endorsement of Obama, Gilchrest said that "we can't use four more years of the same kind of policy that's somewhat haphazard, which leads to recklessness."

Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), "have the breadth of experience. I think they're prudent. They're knowledgable."

Gilchrest's reference to prudence may be an allusion to a widely-circulated op-ed written by conservative David Brooks, who questioned whether Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had the necessary wisdom and prudence.

Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO turned John McCain Victory chair, said Tuesday that Sarah Palin isn???t qualified to run her old company.

Appearing on a KTRS Radio show in St. Louis, Fiorina was asked by the host, ???Do you think she has the experience to run a major company like Hewlett Packard????

???No, I don???t,??? Fiorina answered. ???But that???s not what she???s running for. Running a corporation is a different set of things."

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 09/16/2008 4:45:58 PM

You missed the last part she also said that McCain wasn't qualified to run a major corporation. Newsweek has a clip of her making these statements under Stumper.

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 09/16/2008 6:31:43 PM

. . . and after stating McCains name, she continued on and also added that Barack Obama was not qualified to run a major corporation. . . .and that running a corporation was not like the reponsibility of running a country. I saw the whole discussion on one of the cable news stations about an hr. ago on TV. . . not just the sound bite / snippet thats going around..

        • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/16/2008 6:44:54 PM

Another thing......The Republicans have said time after time, McCain is ready to the highest office in the land. Why would a CEO position be tougher than President of the United States. Does that make sense sharenews?

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 09/16/2008 7:39:29 PM

I didnt hear her say tougher Just that it was different and that one is not comparable to the other.. Maybe the full discussion will be up on Youtube to hear again at some point.

            • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 09/18/2008 1:07:47 PM

Intelligent people know exactly what Carly Fiorina meant. So, share, in conclusion, if according to big shot Fiorina that McCain is not fit to run a corporation as CEO with all the BS experience you insist he has..how can he be fit to run the country?

            • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/16/2008 8:14:31 PM

No, funny, she said that being the President is tougher than being a CEO. She should know, she made 1000's of Americans loose their jobs and oh yeah, she got fired from a tough job. Hmmmmmm. She won't be campainging for McCain, I promise you that.

              • Posted By: sharenews @ 09/16/2008 10:50:31 PM

CHIN, Here is the full disclosure of what was said today by Carly Fiorina. . . I attached the non-cut version of the discussion. There was no mention about a CEO job being tougher than being a POTUS.

She should have said Obama isn't. She said Palin and McCain. When hit hard she than said Obama. How sad can she be

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 09/16/2008 7:42:58 PM

Chin, I dont know what you are talking about. . . did you even see the full discussion on cable news tonite? She made her statement about all 4 candidates not being qualified to run a corporation starting with Palin, then McCain, then Obama and then Biden, one right after the other.

            • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/18/2008 4:12:48 AM

She was fired out of Hewlett Packard and now is on TV acting as though Americans don't know about it.

        • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 09/17/2008 2:20:13 PM

          Share,

It was expected that she would criticize Obama so that was not at all surprising.
