It shouldn't matter in this day in age in the States what their race and gender are in politics. What SHOULD matter is their experience as well as their view points on issues and whether they should be elected.

After seeing this you have to agree though, McCain and Palin don't appear to be the candidates one SHOULD vote for. http://www.heartofthewolf.org/NoToMcCain-Palin.htm

Excuse me heart of the wolf. I misread you,. I don't begin to think Obama is qualified to handle this mess either.

    • Posted By: busby @ 09/18/2008 12:58:22 PM

No, race shouldn't matter but it does. But it matters from a different perspective than the one I have heard. Racism means to many people that a white person won't vote for a black person. But no one ever says that a black person will vote for a black person just because he is black. Isn't that racism too? Being a minority, I understand the feelings of being mistreated and look down on, but , by using blanket accusations on both sides, it is only dividing this country further so, in the end, no one will get the peace they want. And I do agree with you. Lousy choices this time. It's a matter of who will be the least disastrous, not who will be the best to handle the mess we are in.

I was one of those women who voted for Geraldine, she knew what she was talking about. She did not have to be taught what to say, and she had class!! I am now 60, I still vote on the issues. honor and truthfulness, and not just because Palin is a women. I am appalled at what people will believe and support. Do your homework before voting, our country deserves better from our citizens, and so do our future generations. former pta & soccer mom, teacher

Former PTA and Soccer Mom....why don't you mention what her latest job has been? Does that not fit your agenda? SHE IS GOVERNOR OF ALASKA (population of over 673,000). As for those who say she doesn't have enough "experience", check out Teddy Roosevelt.

    • Posted By: the_shelton @ 09/15/2008 12:07:43 AM

I agree, just because she is a woman, don't be hoodwinked. If you want a woman, do your homework. Sebilious or Napalatano, now those ladies are really qualified, have one hell of a lot of experience in running some very complicated issues and have some real class. Personally, I don't want the woman next door to be running this country. She has trouble getting the kids to school.

You people are dellusional. Wait till McSame and Spalin counts the portion of your health insurance premium paid by your employer as income to you and makes you pay income tax on it, cause that's Mr. Magoo's brilliant helath care plan. Say you make 40K and your employer pays $15,000.00 for your family, which is a low estimate, watch your 40K baloon to 55K and then you have to pay for the WHOLE cost of your policy, if you're even able to secure it, with the measly 5K tax credit he's proposing. Have a preexisting condition? Tough sh_t. Can't find a provider cause your in your mid 50s and just got laid off and are about as desirable as a bag of cold sores to an insurance company, tough sh_t!!!!!

Then we'll see how much you like your pitbull with lipstick and your dottering old fool of a president. Enjoy life without health insurance, morons. Do you people even read their proposed policies?

Palin was picked to take the heat off of Mr Magoo. Plain and simple.

Wait till the debates, people. Without a teleprompter and repeated rehearsals, you'll see these two pathetic choices for what they really are. A hack Gov. of a remote state nobody gives a rat's a_s about and a dying old man with the memory of a goldfish.

Ass for the health insurance thing, don't worry. The dems in congress and the house would NEVER EVER let such an assanine plan become law.

That's why nothing get's done there. All Repug proposals, like the last 8 years of their governance, are reprehensible asaults on all that is good and decent in our country.

I hope Magoo drops dead before the election and statistically, there's a 75% chance he'd die before the end of his first term, anyway but, one can hope.

After 8 years of a dunce in the White House the last thing we need is a housewife in control of the country.

    • Posted By: rmelone @ 09/18/2008 12:43:24 PM

Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. You say that Palin is some "hack Gov. of a remote state nobody gives a rat's a_s about "...well that state has a population of over 673,000 whereas Deleware has a population of only a little over 1,900. I'll bet those 673,000 care about the state!

a HOUSEWIFE? you flatter her. She can't even run her own family let alone take over when McPain slips on the banana peel. The old geezer only has long term memory, which isn't going to help us in these times. I agree with your comment, but women will not be fooled by her phony "I can do everything" attitude. She's already proven she can't. Reality will set in and our intelligent female population will be insulted by her Alaska trailer trash lies. Those of us over 50 lived in the times when there were no choices for us. We will not take a single step back.

      backwards step, for anyone.

Yes, Floridave, but during times of slavery, the Republicans were the left-wing liberals and Democrats were more the right-wing conservatives, so your argument doesn't hold up. Liberal politicians were the ones who helped to free the slaves, and Democrats are about to elect a black president.

Folks, all of us in nations outside of the US are wondering what's with all this hype? Of course Obama is not going to win His first and most lasting obstacle is his skin color. All those democrats who're switching to support McCain now and scrambling to give a reason. That bilionaire woman said he's elitist! Who's more elitist than her?

The fact of the matter is as I've said before and it probably won't be posted, even if Obama was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ himself and John McCain was Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, the Green River Killer, in other words a combination of all the most vile villains in US history, he would still win. Why, "White privelege", ergo the color of his skin. Come election day that US map is going to be red, pretty symbolic of the bleeding that's going on in America and will only get worse. Everyone else in the world knows it, so I really wish you people would stop pretending that it's not been a foregone cocnclusion from the time the Democrats
    chose him.

As the skit on Saturday Night Live said, "Sarah Palin is one heartbeat away from being President." Now that would be truly interesting.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/18/2008 11:23:59 AM

You are so right. America will never let a black man in the white house. If you see the anger. White women are mad because they wanted Hillary so if you notice, only white women are starting PUMA. The neo-nazi said if Obama becomes the President, than they will start a white power riot and black people better watch their backs. We have been hated since the day they brought blacks over from Africa and now they still want blacks to sit in the back of the bus. But you will here them say that their best friend is black. Shame.

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 09/18/2008 11:59:59 AM

        Hi Chin,

Obama has supporters of all races but since Whites are still the majority in this country the Palin/mcCain are on speaking to them. But the really sick thing is that the Republicans really only support the Rich Whites as far as the middle class and poor we are ALL in the same boat.. But that does not matter to the type of people supporting Palin/McCain the only thing that matters to these people is seeing someone who looks like them in the White House regardless of how brain dead or bimbo-ish they are.

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 09/18/2008 11:06:05 AM

It saddens me to agree with you but unfortunately what you wrote is absolutely true. My parents have never believed for a moment that this country would ever allow any non white to ever be president. I am finding that most of the older generation of blacks believe that.

You are not the first nor will you be the last non American to state this fact.
SHAME ON US AS A COUNTRY FOR BEING SO BACKWARDS.

McCain Meant To Reject Spain Meeting, Adviser Says

    I found this on Huff and Wash Post. By the way just so everyone is aware Spain and the US are NATO Allies. Here is the first part of the article and the link to the entire article;

The McCain campaign insisted Thursday morning that the Senator meant what he said when, during an interview on Spanish radio, he refused to commit to a meeting with Spain's prime minister, Jose Luis Zapatero.

"The questioner asked several times about Senator McCain's willingness to meet Zapatero (and id'd him in the question so there is no doubt Senator McCain knew exactly to whom the question referred). Senator McCain refused to commit to a White House meeting with President Zapatero in this interview," the Senator's foreign policy adviser Randy Sheunemann told the Washington Post.

Sheunemann's answer is likely to be cause deep ripples within the diplomatic community, as it represents a more aggressive and antagonistic approach than that deployed by the Bush administration. It also promises to be hotly contested, as a review of the McCain interview suggests that the Senator was likely confused as to who Zapatero actually was.

U.S. Soldiers don't even want to serve if McCain is the President. Wow. This should tell America something, but we hate each other so much, they will never put Obama in the White House. White men already tried to kill him in Denver. One white man in Conn. made a threat to Obama and had a ton of arsenal, and don't forget Florida. I guess America don't feel that a black man can change Wall Street. Don't worry, 2042 is coming and soon, only the Hispanics will have the power.

Comment: Sarah Palin is shifting opinions about women in mainstream America. In the last week, I have had two white-haired, confirmed Republican men admiringly tell me that Cindy McCain is a powerhouse, that they like Sarah Palin, and that they like that John McCain is not afraid of strong women.

Compare that to Obama who would not share the ticket with a strong woman and who seems to have sent his wife to stay in a windowless basement until after Election Day.

Mainstream Republican men are embracing the idea that strong men like strong women and that weak men cannot handle them. Thus, I think that Sarah Palin, and Cindy McCain, have done more for women in the last month than the feminist movement has done for us in years.

BTW, McCain pays women on his staff 104% of what he pays men. Obama is somewhere below 70%. Cut through all the garbage words in the media and the blogs and look at behavior and McCain seems like a much better bet as President from a feminist's perspective.

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/17/2008 6:17:24 PM

Donna, are you smoking crack? McCain has done more for women? Cindy McCain has done more for women? Wait, the McCain's have hired illegal immagrants to work at their many houses. Wait, Sarah Palin wanted rape victims to pay for their own rape kit. Yeah, they have done more for women causes. Sarah Palin wants women who get raped to still give birth to that child if they become pregnant. Wow, they are ready to help the hard working women who get taken advantage by these crazy men.

      • Posted By: Donna1000 @ 09/17/2008 9:03:13 PM

Uh, there are 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. Lots of people are hiring them.

I'm sick of the abortion issue. Rove got an abortion issue onto the Ohio ballot in 2004 that brought conservative voters out in droves. If not for that, John Kerry would have won Ohio and been elected President . A federally mandated right to an abortion is less important to me than dethroning George Bush was. If Roe v. Wade were to be overturned, the states would have the power to make abortion legal or illegal. Because of anti-abortion activists, abortion clinics have already mostly closed in the states that would outlaw abortions. Thus, de facto, Roe v. Wade has ALREADY been overturned.

        • Posted By: lexi97701 @ 09/18/2008 8:25:02 AM

Exactly, the problems we have FAR outweigh the abortion issue people. The world is going down the tubes, America is coming down around our shoulders, we need Republicans out!

Wall Street is coming down. The American people are not coming down. Frankly, I wish we were getting Hillary and Bill back. They have more experience than either McCain or Obama. But, unless the Dems wake up and change their nominee, I will take McCain over gutless Obambi.

  • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/17/2008 8:24:22 AM

What do women want? Try a little honesty. I am sick to death of John McCain bellowing about regulating Wall Street as though he had nothing to do with the DEREGULATION of Wall Street. McCain has called Phil Gramm his " economic guru. In December 2000, this economic "genius" snuck into a massive spending bill something called the Commodities Futures Modernization Act which made it impossible for Congress to regulate new financial products, especially one called Credit Default Swaps, an insurance product that made the bundling of subprime mortgages into investment vehicles more attractive. Financial institutions offering "swaps" insured investors against losses from buying into the subprime mortgage market. However, with NO regulation, these financial institutions offering the insurance were not required to have on hand money to pay off claims. AIG, for example, was one big offerer of swaps. As the claims poured in, the insurers had to borrow more and more money to pay them, until they collapsed.

The Commodities Futures Modernization Act also included energy trading in its "no regulation" zone. The result was the Enron crisis in which wrecked the California energy industry and cost consumers billions. Gramm's legislative history also includes bank DEREGULATION that broke down firewalls among commercial banks, investment banks, insurance companies and brokerages which created a climate for the big mergers that have spread investment risks throughout all financial institutions from savings banks to pension funds.

These have been the policies that McCain supported. He has prided himself on being a DEREGULATOR. The cornerstone of Republican econmic policy has always been the deregulation of the market. The guidling principle has been that "market forces" would take care of everything. John McCain has talked ot having Phil Gramm as his Treasury Secretary, so much does he admire Gramm's financial "expertise."

For John McCain to talk about regulating Wall Street is tatamount to him saying, "Look friends, I've been wrong about economic policy my whole political life. Please don't judge me on what I've done. Just believe that I'm going to do a complete 180 on the economy." It's a bill of goods that's is nothing more than empty campaign drivel. If anyone is tempted to buy into this, they best remember the old adage: Let the Buyer Beware.

    • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 09/17/2008 10:01:23 AM

Well written, thanks for the info.

Sounds like McCain is the candidate of Credibility Default Swaps - because he has no credibility where the economy is concerned.

I've voted mostly Republican for 38 years since I was one of the first 18 year olds to obtain the vote. I've never been as disgusted with a party as I am with the Republican party this year. I am FAR from a liberal... in fact, I attend a evangelical Christian mega-church. I am 56 years old and supposedly the target for McCain's choice of Palin. Beyond those demographics, I'm a senior executive in a high tech company.

Palin would never make it to round two for a job interview in any of the companies I've worked in. She has been caught, repeatedly in lies, uses her sexuality when it serves her purpose (winking, flirtatious behavior) and is clearly undereducated to hold an executive position in a company, let alone the most powerful nation on earth. Her dictatorial body language and snarky and sarcastic demeanor would disqualify her for any leadership position.

I also travel worldwide extensively, and hear what the rest of the world thinks of us. Part of my daily personal education is to read many foriegn newspapers, including the letters from readers. Palin is seen as an even bigger buffoon than Bush. If she were a man, there is no way she would have been considered for this nomination.

Palin's nomination has taken the honestly and painfully earned gains of women in this country back 30 years. I am so very disappointed in McCain and his selection when there are so many other women far more qualified.

Barack Obama said small town rural Americans cling to religion and guns in tough times. It must have been tough times during in his first year of law school at Syracuse University that Joe Biden clung to his religion in deciding to use an academic product of his own faith, Fordham Law Review to commit plagiarism. Joe Biden did more than cling to religion, he clung so hard that he took a substantial chunk out of the Fordham Law Review and failed and had to repeat his legal research and writing class as a result.

      • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/14/2008 1:08:14 PM

The problem is small town Americans do cling to religion and guns during tough times. When the Gov't don't let the American people decide how this Country should be run, what they do is give us laws to vote in. Gun rights, religion, anything to throw the American people out of the loop and in return, we loose our jobs, our economy goes in the tank, people are loosing their homes. You want to cry about guns and religion, have you noticed, thats all we have.

    • Posted By: Independant Voter @ 09/14/2008 12:46:57 PM

I agree with you. Palin has been an embarrassment in many ways - and it is extremely disappointing (and cynical) that this unqualified, small town mayor was McCain's choice. If McCain really respected women - he would have chosen Olympia Snowe, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Elizabeth Dole, or Condi Rice. Palin is not only unqualified to be VP - she would not even win mayor of my small, conservative town after that last interview!

  • Posted By: modchild @ 09/14/2008 3:26:25 PM

"What women want"....You must be kidding. Palin is an aggressive, politician and I question her intelligence. First of all, she considers herself capable of being the President. That should give any thinking American a cold chill for her lack of self awareness. She should read "Leadership and Self Deception" ; she might, just might learn something.

Don't get it wrong Palin believes in Choice she choosed to have a special child. She kills animals and believes in the death penatly. Come on please don't hear or see what you want to see. Just because she is a woman doesn't mean it is a great or best choice. She is a wolf in sheeps clothing...I have great insight and I see that she is not all what she seems to be, none of them for that matter. She just doesn't want to lose to another Black person again and if I am going to vote for a woman...Hillary Clinton would be my vote all day long, not a undercover redneck.

WowListenUp, I guess it's ok for you to get your panties in a twist over McCain's first wife. Funny thing is, she isn't angry at him and has never ever campaigned against him. She's supported him in all of his runs, and I know, since I used to live in Arizona until 2005.
Palin didn't shoot animals just to put their carcasses on the wall. It was to feed her family. Do you think that meat always comes from the supermarket in plastic wrap or something?

  • Posted By: sparkling @ 09/15/2008 1:52:59 PM

Sarah Palin represents me as a WOMAN! There are women who are conservative and we have a strong voice in Sarah Palin. Hillary never represented me.

Here are a few more thoughts why the liberal women don't like Sarah... it has nothing to do with being a woman. As G. Gutfeld said, SO how can one person create so much bile among folks who claim to be the most tolerant in the universe? I mean, liberals are the good people: They're open-minded, caring and of course, fair.

But somehow, a Republican lady in her 40s is exempt from this treatment. Perhaps, she truly is the devil in a dress, a ghoul that eats children and pollutes the planet and possibly beats Barack Obama, the patron saint of every customer buying wheat germ in bulk at GNC.

But I know the real reason why every single elitist media type is terrified of her. They've never met her. And by "her," I don't mean Sarah Palin. I mean "her", an actual normal woman with a bunch of kids, an average husband and no desire to watch "The L Word."

She's scary to these folks the way Wal-Mart is scary to them: Both are alien to someone who blogs about their chakras. They won't go there, because they've never been there.

To them, hating Sarah Palin is a symptom of larger bigotry against the rest of us, the normal. If they saw her at a party, they would wonder how she got in. She's the anti-Obama, the anti-New York Times, the anti-everything that Tim Robbins loves, which is why I love her ??? and you should too

    • Posted By: cincinnatimom @ 09/15/2008 2:04:02 PM

I would love to meet Sarah Palin at a party and yes, like most of us, I do shop at Walmart, have kids that I adore and did not go to an Ivy League college. That does not qualify me to run this country. She seems to be a great person, but that does not mean she has the capacity to be VP.

Great comment but still misses a salient point. Not all us smart gals didn't get the guys. That's what's so intimidating to many about Palin, she's smart and attractive. As a tall, well built ,attractive "smart girl", I had no problems dating in school as long as I "dumbed down" on dates. It was fine to be smart in the classroom as long as I didn't show it off. Thanks to Palin maybe the next generation of attracive smart girls won't have to. BTW I have both an Engineering degree and and a Medical Doctorate, and yes I am happily married to a great handsome smart guy. What little "sexism" I have encountered so far in my life seems to be related not to the fact I'm smart, but that I am smart and attractive. Apparently breaking that stereotype is intimidating.

The Obama Campaign Sinks to a New Low in Decency

The Obama campaign, as it continues to flounder and sink in the polls, has descended to a new low, even for itself.

Recently it has launched a new TV ad in which a mocking narrator alleges that John McCain is so out of touch with the current generation because of his inability to use a computer.

The narrator does not admit that the reason John McCain doesn???t use a computer is because 5 and a half years of torture as a POW in the Vietnam war cause him to experience severe pain by attempting to do many of the day to day menial tasks which most of the American population take for granted.

Obviously the Obama campaign does not demonstrate any appreciation and respect for the veteran and current members of the US military!

The obamabot ship is sinking, and the crew are sure grasping at straws in their pitiful attempt to deceive the voting public. Yes, Obama approved that deceitful ad - it is consistent with his decrepit morally corrupt standards.

Obviously that empty suit has no heart, courage, sincerity, honour, and respect!

Do you expect a presidential candidate to be truthful in striving to win the election?
If so, Obama just doesn???t ???measure up??? in that consideration!

Obama is an unscrupulous do-anything community agitator who has revealed his true previously hidden self!

On November 4, you, the legal American voting public, have the opportunity and ability to cast Obama back to that slag heap of Chicago manipulators who permeate the slum areas of that city.

Don't worry about Sen. Obama. He'll be a terrific president.

Hi Davole, How are things up North?
I have not seen that ad running in my area (Northeast) as of the last week since the McCaincamp finally came out to talk about McCains disabilities relating to his arms/hands (which I can understand why he would not have wanted to talk about but given the bashing he has received about being so out of touch not using Email, I felt it was the right thing to do, to explain his POW injuries - the North Vietnam never set either of his arms and huge nodules under his armpits grew as a result that only so much physical therapy upon returning home resolved the situation, not to mention his fingers being broken with arthristis setting in - I mean, you would think that Obamas camp would have thought that ad through first. Anyways, I think they have since pulled the ad. Hope all is well on your end. - sharenews.

        Thanks for your reply!

Everything is just superb here up North - proceeding according to plan and schedule.

Gee, you and Lori sure make a formidable tag-team to challenge all obamabot on comers!

I'm tempted to cash in some of my Airmiles points for a possible flight to Alaska next year - it's about time that state and its people get some well-deserved recognition and respect.

It's quite comical and fitting that Washington will soon be changed by a gun-totting determined mother of 5 who hails from Alaska.

The obamabot ad which I criticized was mentioned yesterday on one of my news sources, and it may have been advertised already as a political commercial on a few radio stations or even TV channels.

You mentioned that maybe someone in the Obama campaign decided to "pull" it - quite possible.
But I would tend to suspect that Barack Obama's 7 year old daughter informed him that the ad was definitely below even the abysmal standard of decency displayed by his campaign.

A few 7 year old girls have previously managed to successfully challenge Obama's thought process! Maybe he needs to enlist them to provide a higher level of intelligence and rationality for his campaign.

    Rasmussen Reports:

McCain now has a 5 pt. lead over Obama in FLA as of today.

Who cares what the polls say about Florida? The dumb clucks are still figuring out hanging chads. Can't trust their election results.

And those results are the beginning of the week. They were yesterday. We will see by the end of the week.

Palin has been attracting a lot of attention simply because McCain is boring, Obama is now a known quantity and everyone is very curious to see what Sarah will say about all of her issues or if she can talk without a professionally written speech. It should also be interesting to see if she wants the issue about someone hacking her emails investigated with the same speed and cooperation given to the investigation of her Troopergate problem.

'Maybe hacking into Palin's e-mail was Karl Rove's idea.

Here is a topic I would like to hear back on from Obama supporters. It is still in Obamas plan to pursue Global Wealth Redistributions as part of his plan should he become our POTUS. . . and what are your thoughts about this plan?

Obamas Plans For Global Wealth Redistribution
    Saturday, February 16, 2008

This is not getting as much attention as it should:

Unnoticed by most Americans this week, the Obama/Hagel GLOBAL POVERTY ACT was quickly approved by a senate committee and cleared for the next step, debate in a democrat-controlled senate.

The GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is unique in its breathtaking scope. It is NOT FOREIGN-AID. The Act will require the President and Congress to set aside .07% of the annual Gross National Product - our GNP - to be DISTRIBUTED AROUND THE GLOBE to RELIEVE POVERTY at a cost of about $800 billion dollars annually TO TAXPAYERS. It is Barack Obamas response to the call of the Bali Global Warming Conference for a global carbon tax; a BLATANT REDISTRIBUTION OF THE PLANETS WEALTH to the powerless.

Coupled with his riveting stump speeches which generate huge emotional reactions from his equally huge audiences - speeches which literally CALL FOR A REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH right here AT HOME AS WELL - Barack Obamas sponsorship of the GLOBAL POVERTY ACT gives us a CHILLING PREVIEW of an Obama presidency.

Just to put that $800 BILLION into perspective, realize that IT IS MORE THAN HALF
of what we spend on entitlements now. What Obama is proposing is an approximately 65% INCREASE IN ENTITLEMENT SPENDING (huh?????), except that this time the ENTITLEMENTS ARE NOT EVEN FOR AMERICANS!!

That is an ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY that AMERICANS, already heavily burdened with taxes, CAN ILL-AFFORD to pay. So why should we have to pay it? Because OBAMA, the DEMOCRATS and their LIBERAL BUDDIES in the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY have decided that it is what AMERICA???S TITHING SHOULD BE in order to achieve the rather VAGUE GOAL of FIGHTING GLOBAL POVERTY.

Of course, one would think that before Americans are required to foot this heavy new entitlements bill OBAMA and HIS COMRADES would have TO PROVE that any of the money America has spent before on FIGHTING POVERTY has moved us any closer at all to actually ENDING poverty; but that probably makes too much sense.

Maybe, INSTEAD OF FORCING AMERICANS TO PAY FOR THIS FOREIGN AID, Obama could just set up a new CHECK BOX on our TAX DOCUMENTS letting US VOLUNTEER to send the money if we want to. Because if his idea is a good one lots and lots of Americans would support it, RIGHT?
