Here is a topic I would like to hear back on from Obama supporters. It is still in Obamas plan to pursue Global Wealth Redistributions as part of his plan should he become our POTUS. . . and what are your thoughts about this plan?

Obamas Plans For Global Wealth Redistribution
    Saturday, February 16, 2008

This is not getting as much attention as it should:

Unnoticed by most Americans this week, the Obama/Hagel GLOBAL POVERTY ACT was quickly approved by a senate committee and cleared for the next step, debate in a democrat-controlled senate.

The GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is unique in its breathtaking scope. It is NOT FOREIGN-AID. The Act will require the President and Congress to set aside .07% of the annual Gross National Product - our GNP - to be DISTRIBUTED AROUND THE GLOBE to RELIEVE POVERTY at a cost of about $800 billion dollars annually TO TAXPAYERS. It is Barack Obamas response to the call of the Bali Global Warming Conference for a global carbon tax; a BLATANT REDISTRIBUTION OF THE PLANETS WEALTH to the powerless.

Coupled with his riveting stump speeches which generate huge emotional reactions from his equally huge audiences - speeches which literally CALL FOR A REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH right here AT HOME AS WELL - Barack Obamas sponsorship of the GLOBAL POVERTY ACT gives us a CHILLING PREVIEW of an Obama presidency.

Just to put that $800 BILLION into perspective, realize that IT IS MORE THAN HALF
of what we spend on entitlements now. What Obama is proposing is an approximately 65% INCREASE IN ENTITLEMENT SPENDING (huh?????), except that this time the ENTITLEMENTS ARE NOT EVEN FOR AMERICANS!!

That is an ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY that AMERICANS, already heavily burdened with taxes, CAN ILL-AFFORD to pay. So why should we have to pay it? Because OBAMA, the DEMOCRATS and their LIBERAL BUDDIES in the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY have decided that it is what AMERICA???S TITHING SHOULD BE in order to achieve the rather VAGUE GOAL of FIGHTING GLOBAL POVERTY.

Of course, one would think that before Americans are required to foot this heavy new entitlements bill OBAMA and HIS COMRADES would have TO PROVE that any of the money America has spent before on FIGHTING POVERTY has moved us any closer at all to actually ENDING poverty; but that probably makes too much sense.

Maybe, INSTEAD OF FORCING AMERICANS TO PAY FOR THIS FOREIGN AID, Obama could just set up a new CHECK BOX on our TAX DOCUMENTS letting US VOLUNTEER to send the money if we want to. Because if his idea is a good one lots and lots of Americans would support it, RIGHT?

I'll eat my hat if McCain-Palin actually win this election. It would be like insisting on taking the Titanic across the Atlantic even though you KNOW it's doomed to sink.

Speaking of water, I see you are still faithfully and unquestioningly carrying it for the Democrats.

I was hoping the hurricane had blown you out of Houston and somewhere into the Gulf, where you would be stranded on a drilling rig and be forced to watch real Americans pumping oil out of the ground for the good of the nation (how horrible that would be for a left-wing hack like you)

Not my original material, but it is so hilarious and spot on that I just couldn't resist sharing it...
    ***********************

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

    * If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'
    * Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, and this is a quintessential American story.

    * If your name is Barack you're radical and unpatriotic, perhaps even Muslim.
    * Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're just a maverick.

    * Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
    * Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

    * If you spend 3 years as a dedicated community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 3 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
    * If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

    * If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising two lovely daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
    * If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a real Christian.

    * If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the very fiber of society.
    * If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're a responsible example for others.

    * If your wife is a Harvard graduate laywer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.
    * If your husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

    OK, much clearer now!

MY GOD! LET THE FIRST WOMEN VP OR PRESIDENT BE SOMEONE WITH CREDENTIALS LIKE, HILLARY, OR THE SO MANY O T H E R WOMEN WHO REALLY A R E Q U A L I F I E D TO LEAD OUR NATION!! THE LAST THING OUR GENDER WANTS, PARTICULARLY WHEN IT COMES TO THE VERY FIRST FEMALE VP OR PRES., IS SOMEONE WHO WILL FAIL & EMBARRASS US MISERABLY .... WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS SUCH !! IF I WAS RECRUITING HER FOR THE JOB OF VP, IT WOULD NOT BE PALIN!!

The people picked Obama. Get that straight.

Now see... that is insulting and unnecessary... there are thousands that did not and will not select Obama.. you cannot say the people... that is incorrect... the fact today is a large majority, not all, of the democrats selected Obama at your DNC.

          • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/15/2008 1:46:25 AM

Lynn, he won a primary. Hillary didn't. As much as you want to hate Obama, and Obama can't win because of Ohio, Obama was the best choice.

            • Posted By: LynnPA @ 09/15/2008 11:52:30 PM

I do not hate Obama.... I don't hate people, I dislike their policies and/or I dislike their actions and what they stand for. For example, I hate the fact that he voted "No" on a piece of legislation that was created to protect infants born alive post a botched abortion. Either way, this has nothing to do with the original comment which was... Obama was not selected by the people, he was selected by a subgroup of Dems.

Is that in the same way that you Republicans use the word Women when you are only addressing Rural White Women? I am getting this term from almost every Republican Strategist on CNN or MSNBC!

            • Posted By: LynnPA @ 09/15/2008 11:47:15 PM

First, I am not a "You Republicans". Second, I do not like nor do I support the way either party stereotypes women into 'one type'. As one can easily see, many women on this blog have very conflicting views and relate to different women for different reasons.

Neither party understands 'women' because most of the strategy and research they have done, was facilitated by men... Either way, the issue was that Obama was not selected by 'the people', he was selected by a subgroup of democrats.

        • Posted By: ihateeveryoneincludingyou @ 09/15/2008 12:48:12 AM

Uh, wrong! Hillary got more votes in the primaries. Obama got his from caucuses and superdelegates. Hardly "from the people".

    I thought this was interesting.....

    "Politicians Lie, Numbers Don't"
"And the numbers show that Democrats are better for the economy than Republicans."
    By Michael Kinsley
Posted Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at 1:49 PM ET

If you're wondering why a formerly honorable man like John McCain would build his presidential campaign around issues that are simultaneously beside-the-point, trivial, and dishonest (sex education for kindergartners, lipstick on pigs), the numbers presented here may help to solve that mystery. Since the conventions ended, McCain has mired the presidential race in dishonest trivia because he doesn't want it to focus on what voters say is the most important issue this year: the economy.

There is no secret about any of this. The figures below are all from the annual Economic Report of the President, and the analysis is primitive. Nevertheless, what these numbers show almost beyond doubt is that Democrats are better at virtually every economic task that is important to Republicans.

In other words, there are no figures here about income inequality, or percentage of the population with health insurance, or anything like that. This exercise implicitly assumes that lower taxes are always good and higher government spending is always bad. There is nothing here about how clean the air is or how many children are growing up in poverty. The only point is that if you find the Republican mantra of lower taxes and smaller government appealing, and if you care only about how fast the economy is growing, not how that growth is shared, you should vote Democratic. Of course, if you do care about things like economic inequality and children's health, you should vote Democratic as well.

To TheVigil: Below is your comment in reference to, Obamas vote to allow a live birth post abortion to be left alone to die:
Per TheVigil:Comment: First of all, he voted "Present", not "No".

Oh yeh... that is so much better. I wonder how many times he will vote 'Present' in the Whitehouse because he could not make a decision. He was the only one that actually had to bail-out of a decision about leaving a live baby left to die... now that is scary.

        • Posted By: OldPlusNew @ 09/15/2008 1:56:54 AM

God, you guys know nothing about politics. A present vote is used when you don't necessarily disagree with a bill, but you have questions concerning the language of the bill. The reason why he voted present the first time was because the language of the bill did NOT include proper verbage saying that it would not be used to undermine Roe v. Wade. The reason why he voted no the second time is because the language still wasn't there.

You guys should know how the law works simply by what happened in California with gay marriages.. If there is a line or phrase that isn't exact in it's definition, lawyers manipulate the verbage to pursue an alternate agenda. Voting for that bill without the proper verbage would have been sheer negligence on Obama's part, and he once again showed the right judgement in voting present the first time, and voting no the second time (when the verbage wasn't altered).

          • Posted By: sharenews @ 09/15/2008 2:16:59 AM

Voting Present is also used in the Illinois Senate when a Senator like Obama does not want to have it documented that he voted Yes or No on some controversial bills. Obama voted Present 129 times!!

Comment: I am very well versed on how the government works... I am talking about a live baby ... you know... one with a heart beat, a brain and is OUTSIDE the mother's body... the fact that the baby is now breathing and liviing on its own OUTSIDE the mother completely changes the dynamics... the fact he had to think about it, is beyond words...

Present / No .... it does not matter... the entire incident was horrific and shows that Obama 'does not get it'!
Do you have any idea what these babies go through... tiny, shivering and shaking, gasping for every last breath, trying so hard to hold on... What is the matter with you! Has this country sunk so low that we have now lost our humanity.

(Continued from my post above - Obama Blocked Born Alive Infant Protection Act)

        (Part 3 of 5)

        Constitutional Blindness

A graduate of Harvard Law School, Obama TAUGHT CONSTITUTIONAL LAW at the University of Chicago for 10 years. Both schools are listed in the top 10 law schools in the country. BUT Obama revealed his CONSTITUTIONAL BLIND SPOT in his (own) book The Audacity of Hope:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created [emphasis added] equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among those are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.???

OBAMA: (T)he essential idea behind the Declaration ??? that we are BORN [emphasis added] into this world free, all of us; that each of us arrives with a bundle of rights that cannot be taken away by any person or any state without just cause; that through our own agency we can, and must, make of our lives what we will, is one that every American understands.

Note Obamas choice of the word BORN over the word CREATED. Perhaps that helps explain his (Obamas) support for UNRESTRICTED ABORTION. Also note that our BUNDLE OF RIGHTS can be TAKEN AWAY with JUST CAUSE.

Obama clearly considers abortion a JUST CAUSE. Here is how he argued against Born Alive during Illinois Senate debate in 2001:

OBAMA: I just want to suggest ??? that this (legislation) is probably not going to survive constitutional scrutiny. Number one, whenever we define a pre-viable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we are really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a - child, a 9-month-old - child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it, it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an anti-abortion statute. For that purpose, I think it would probably be found unconstitutional.

Question: "Are you offended by the words "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance?"

Palin's Answer: "Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, good enough for me."

          Founding fathers?

The Pledge of Allegiance was penned in the late 1800s and the words "Under God" were inserted in the mid-1950s.

Obama Blocked Born Alive Infant Protection Act
        4-2-2008
        By Jill Stanek

        (Part 1 of 5)

On JAN. 10, 2005, newly elected U.S. Sen. Barack Obama visited former colleagues and staffers at the Illinois state Capitol, where he had served seven years as state senator. I happened to be at the Capitol that day, too, and a friend and I took the opportunity to speak to Obama, who had not yet achieved rock-star status and was still approachable.
We were in Springfield to lobby for passage of the STATE BORN ALIVE INFANT PROTECTION ACT, legislation that would require hospitals to care for infants who survive an abortion. OBAMA SPOKE AGAINST the legislation in 2001 and 2002 and SINGLE-HANDEDLY DEFEATED IT in committee in 2003.

My friend stood in Obamas path and said, Senator, we are going to pass Born Alive here in Illinois this year. Obama smiled smoothly and agreed, I think you will, adding, I would have voted for the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in Illinois HAD IT BEEN WORDED the SAME as the Federal bill. I think that is the position the Democrats should take (, he said).

THERE IS JUST ONE THING HE FORGOT TO MENTION: Obama had STOPPED his committee from adding the Federal wording. With Obama no longer in the state Senate, the Born Alive legislation passed in 2005.

        First Encounter

An Illinois lawmaker offered the FIRST DRAFT of the states BORN ALIVE INFANT PROTECTION ACT in 2001 after I revealed publicly that Christ Hospital left babies who survived abortion - viable babies whose delivery was induced, and whom the abortionist intended to kill but somehow survived - in a utility room to die.

The bill, sponsored by (Illinois) state Sen. Patrick O???Malley of Oak Lawn defined BORN ALIVE using LANGUAGE IDENTICAL TO that of FEDERAL LEGISLATION introduced in 2000 by Rep. Charles Canady, R-Fla., who in turn drafted wording

(Continued from my post above - Obama Blocked Born Alive Infant Protection Act)

        (Part 2 of 5)

developed by the World Health Organization in 1950 and adopted by the United Nations in 1955:

        DEFINING BORN ALIVE:

The term BORN ALIVE, with respect to a member of the species homo sapiens, means the COMPLETE EXPULSION or EXTRACTION from its mother of that member, at any stage of development, who after such expulsion or extraction breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut, and regardless of whether the expulsion or extraction occurs as a result of natural or induced labor, cesarean section, or induced abortion. I first encountered Barack Obama on March 27, 2001, when I testified before the Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee, of which he was a member. My testimony included my description of holding a premature aborted baby until he died:

One night, a nursing co-worker was taking an ABORTED DOWNS SYNDROME BABY who was BORN ALIVE TO OUR SOILED UTILITY ROOM because his parents did not want to hold him, and she did not have time to hold him. I could not bear the thought of this suffering child dying alone in a Soiled Utility Room, so I cradled and rocked him for the 45 minutes that he lived. He was 21 to 22 weeks old, weighed about ½ pound, and was about 10 inches long. He was too weak to move very much, expending any energy he had trying to breathe. Toward the end, he was so quiet that I could not tell if he was still alive unless I held him up to the light to see if his heart was still beating through his chest wall. After he was pronounced dead, we folded his little arms across his chest, wrapped him in a tiny shroud, and carried him to the hospital morgue where all of our dead patients are taken.

Obama questioned whether the BORN ALIVE legislation would impede the right to abort and doctor/patient decision-making. He and an American Civil Liberties Union attorney speculated BORN ALIVE would force doctors to resuscitate nonviable aborted babies.

Obama OPPOSED BORN ALIVE in committee, BUT voted PRESENT - neither yes nor no, but merely present - on the Illinois state Senate floor, one of MANY PRESENT VOTES that Hillary Clinton has cited as evidence that Obama lacks leadership skills. Clinton voted for the federal Born Alive bill, putting her on record as more pro-life than Obama.

(Continued from my post above - Obama Blocked Born Alive Infant Protection Act)

        (Part 4 of 5)

The legislation passed the Senate, but (it) did not survive in the House. When Rep. O???Malley reintroduced Born Alive and its companion bills in 2002, they headed again to the same committee, where Obama rewrote history:

OBAMA: Ms. Stanek, your initial testimony last year showed your DISMAY AT THE
LACK OF REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. I agreed with you last year, and WE SUGGESTED that there be a Comfort Room or something of that nature be done. The hospital acknowledged that and changes were made and you are still unimpressed. It sounds to me like you are really not interested in how these fetuses are treated, but rather not providing absolutely any medical care or life to them.

Of course, Obama HAD NOT AGREED with me the year before, and I WAS THE ONE who had TOLD HIM ABOUT THE COMFORT ROOM, which the hospital created in response to MY testimony: We now have this prettily wallpapered room. ??? There is even a NICE WOODEN ROCKER in the room to rock live aborted babies to death.

The hospital made live birth abortions LOOK NICER, but the end result was still DEAD BABIES.

OBAMA SAID: What we are doing here is to create one more burden on women, and I can not support that, and he voted NO in committee again.

The bill went again to the Senate floor, where Obama was the SOLE SPEAKER AGAINST IT, claiming that it would impose a BURDEN on PHYSICIANS:
OBAMA: [T]his [legislation] puts the burden on the attending physician who has determined, since they are performing this procedure, that in fact, this is a nonviable fetus.

        Troubled Conscience?

Democrats won control of the Illinois state Senate in November 2002, and when Born Alive was REINTRODUCED FOR THE THIRD TIME in 2003, it was directed to the Obama-chaired, infamously LIBERAL Health and Human Services Committee, where HE simply REFUSED TO CALL IT FOR A VOTE.

By this time Obama was running for U.S. Senate. He won his primary in March 2004, and Republicans recruited former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes, who lived in Maryland, to oppose him. It was Obamas position against Born Alive that persuaded Keyes to run, as he stated in his announcement speech:

        (Part 5 of 5)

Keyes said: When I was first approached about this possibility, I have to say that my reaction was negative. What finally caught my eye, however . . . what finally arrested my attention and forced me to consider whether I not only had the opportunity to oppose him, but the obligation was when I learned that (OBAMA) had actually, in April 2002, apparently cast a VOTE that would continue to ALLOW LIVE BIRTH ABORTIONS in the state of Illinois.

We are talking about a situation in which, in the course of an abortion procedure, a child has been born alive, IS OUT OF THE WOMB, breathing and living on its own, and he (OBAMA) CAST A VOTE AGAINST THE IDEA THAT WE SHOULD NOT STAND BY AND LET THAT CHILD DIE!

This was why Keyes alleged during their campaign that Jesus Christ would not vote for Barack Obama, as he explained in an interview with an NBC affiliate:
Keyes said: CHRIST WOULD NOT STAND IDLY BY WHILE AN INFANT CHILD IN THAT SITUATION DIED. . . Christ would not vote for Barack Obama, because Barack Obama has voted to behave in a way that it is inconceivable for Christ to have behaved.

Obama later admitted Keyes comment NAGGED him and has written or spoke about it several times, although he always misrepresents Keyes rationale as being about abortion support when it was specifically about infanticide support. In a July 2006 opinion piece in USA Today, restated later in The Audacity of Hope, Obama wrote:

If I am opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.

Obamas faith has come into question on the campaign trail. Accused of being a Muslim, he has insisted that he is ROOTED in the CHRISTIAN TRADITION and has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. n fact, Obama has attended the largest church in one of Americas most stridently PRO-ABORTION denominations, the United Church of Christ, for 20 years. His church, Trinity, is located just five miles from Christ Hospital. Obamas pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, served on the board of Christ Hospitals health care system.

It is ironic in the extreme that the most determined opponents of pre-born life, and even those who are born , embrace the name of the One who caused John the Baptist to leap in his mothers womb. Source: http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000007034.cfm

I was quoting and replying to TheVigil, you need to read the post correctly. No / Present... doesn't matter... we are talking about a live baby... the entire incident is a horrible failure of public representation.

The reason most of these guys vote present is that they are present. A vote can come up for anything at anytime and usually does. Usually in the case of an important piece of legislation, it is announced that there will be a vote and then they can be there to vote for it.

Personnally, the right to abortion or the right to life, to me is not something that is ever going to be decided in a legislative body. It is a matter of personal ethics and as of yet, I have seen no way to legislate that. Most people's personal ethics are so far in the toilet, this is way over their heads. How many people keep the change at a checkout line when they know it is a mistake, how many people break into other people's property or take things at work that isn't theirs? My god, if we can't keep our ethics in on the little things, how are we going to do it on something that really matters? That would be like "Let's kill everyone that doesn't believe in our god...." oops the radical Islamists are already doing that, we would have to find a different ethical matter.

I am very well versed on how the government works... I am not talking about Choice vs Right To Life... I am talking about a live baby ... you know... one with a heart beat, a brain and is OUTSIDE the mother's body... the fact that the baby is now breathing and liviing on its own OUTSIDE the mother completely changes the dynamics... the fact he had to think about it, is beyond words...

It???s amazing how the Obama supporters keep bring-up the same ole, same ole??? she???s a liar, she???s terrible, she???s horrible. And yet??? they forget that Obama was the only senator, the only one??? to vote against (NO) on an important piece of legislation created to help the most innocent and vulnerable in our country??? infants in need of urgent medical care.

We are talking about living, breathing babies, the result of botched abortions, who are OUTSIDE of the mother??? breathing on their own. Without this bill, those performing the abortions were strangling, smothering, and breaking the necks of these infants.

Why do you think the government had to step in and write this bill??? they had nothing better to do with their time with all of the other issues this country is facing??? even pro-abortion legislators voted, ???Yes?????? except Obama !!! That is a scary, dangerous character flaw, which speaks volumes to those who take the time to listen.

McCain-Palin are literally being phony and flip-flopping to adjust to whatever comes up, even copying whatever Obama says. Now Lieberman is trying to help and has touted that the surge was so successful and wants the senate to confirm that. The facts indicate that the only reason there has been progress and a significant decline in the violence is because the Iraqi's stopped fighting each other. The Anabar (sp?) Awakening obviously had a whole lot more to do with that and it started well before the surge. Now the surge didn't hurt and probably helped support the Awakening but the surge by itself very likely would have failed, even with more troops and especially over the long term, and possibly the Awakening may have even worked by itself. Senator Lieberman's efforts are again just more of the political shell game, trying to manipulate public opinion. Lieberman is apparently putting all of his eggs in McCain's basket and very likely will need to become a Republican after this election.

The McCain supporters needed a day to think things over because they know that their man is out of touch with hard working Americans. I have been asking sharenews and her cronies about Sarah Palins church problems. Sarah Palin's pastor Larry Kroon introduced David Brickner to the Church on Aug 17tn. Sarah Palin was in Church and she listened to David Brickner say that Jews being killed was their judgment day. That unless they embrace Chrisitanity, they will die. Sarah Palin clapped her hands. Why when it was Obama and Rev. Wright, they had so much to say. Now it's Sarah Palin's turn and they have nothing to say.

    • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 09/17/2008 10:09:00 AM

Both Rev. Kroon and Rev. Wright are fruitcakes. The difference is: Obama broke with his pastor; Palin is lock-step in line with hers.

Obama recognized the bigot Wright had become, acknowledging his bitterness and comparing him to an elderly uncle - the same unhappy and bitter uncle many of us have. For his honesty, Obama was ridiculed by many.

Palin, however, has publicly repeated her pastor's inappropriate remarks about the Iraq war and God's will. She espouses and repeats many of her pastor's ideas.

The difference is not in the reverends: they are both members of the lunatic fringe.

The difference is in the candidates' reactions to their pastors' bigotry - Obama denounced it, Palin endorsed it.

Yes, keep on comparing and contrasting Obama with Palin because she is the only one he is qualified to run against considering his thin resume. Obama has no business running against Mccain because they are in different leagues. Perhaps in 8 years with more experience and less extreme left, america may considered him as ready.

        • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/17/2008 1:49:23 PM

I don't understand you cowen, you can't even vote in this Country. Why should I listen to you when your countries health care plan is killing the Canadian people.

        • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 09/17/2008 11:09:51 AM

This was in direct response to a question about why people demonized Obama with regard to his reverend's reviews but few have reactied to Palin and her reaction to her reverend's views. In other words, a contrsting and comparison about the different ways the press and people have reacted, not a direct comparison of Obama and Palin.

If memory serves, McCain's pastor is no prize in the view department, either, and I don't recall too many people up in arms about the reverend's crazy statements or McCains's acceptance or rejection of his pastor or the man's views, so the comparison of Obama and McCain with regard to their reactions could use some scrutiny as well - why did we let McCain off the hook and pillory Obama?

Since you want a comparison and contrast of Obama and McCain in terms of experience and readiness, here's how I see it:

As far as I'm concerned, McCain has had multiple decades in the US Senate with little to show for it, and his present reactions to the economy show me absolutely no reason to think he will do anything as president to change a thing. He is pretty clueless.

Obama, on the other hand, while he has less time as a legistator and therefore less time to sponsor and guide legislative change, demonstrates some critical thinking skills about the problems we face. At the very least, he shows us he is at least thinking about them.

I don't see that any of that coming from McCain. He is a one-issue candidate - the surge in Iraq is his main claim to fame, but he backed the wrong war, and still reacts to foreign policy as if in a Cold War time warp.

I have no idea if Obama has what it takes to move us forward, but I know McCain has what it takes to move us backwards.

SAMPLING OF OBAMAs. . . Close circle of Friends, Colleagues, Campaign fundraisers, terrorists, radical / racists, anti-America pastor, radical mentors, and other controversial associations / relationships: Does anyone see a PATTERN? Its not one, not two, but a whole slew of choices Obama made for people to surround himself with during his rise in politics over the years. . .which makes one truly question Obamas beliefs, his values, his integrity and his character as a man who is running for POTUS:

    Part 1 of 3

    * RASHID KHALIDI (former PLO terrorist): http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/04/obama-bomber-ayers-partied-with-former.html

    * FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS (infamous pro-Soviet Communist Party member who was a mentor to Obama in his earlier days - from age 9 or 10 to 18 yrs old - until he left to go off to college). Davis sent Obama off to college and later Barack would admit that he attended socialist conferences and picked Marxist professors as his friends. http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2008/09/obamas-communist-mentor-frank-marshall.html

    * BERNADINE DORHN (Washington unapologetic terrorist): Friend and colleague of Michelle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxRi4gfupi8

I just thought this was really really interesting and funny, it is an exerpt from n article on Huff Post. I know since it is not from Fox or Rush McCain supporters will not believe it LOL!

Second, sitting three-quarters of the way up the bleacher was Bristol Palin and her eighteen-year-old impregnator, Levi Johnston. Once I noticed them, I kept my eye on Bristol and Levi. What I learned provoked an odd empathy for the awful pickle Wasilla High School's hockey stick wielding homeboy now finds himself in.

Bristol and Levi sat shoulder-to-shoulder. But not once did they look at each other, speak to each other, or in any way acknowledge each other's physical presence. Not once. For an entire hour. Instead, Bristol stared straight ahead and Levi had the glazed look of a trapped feral animal.

Then when Sarah wound up her autograph signing and the people sitting in front of him on the bleacher began climbing down, Levi stood up and, without looking at or speaking to his betrothed, turned in the opposite direction and walked away.

You have to feel sorry for the guy, I know he is wishing that he used a condom LOL! Men you should really check out the family members before you just lay down with anyone LOL. Just keep poor Levi in your prayers because his life is going to be CRAP! PUBLIC CRAP!

I mean all this young man wanted was to "Shoot some Sh!t and be a F...ng Redneck and of course "He DON'T want NO KIDS" So much for the school system in Alaska !

Palin???s pastor, Larry Kroon, introduced Brickner on Aug. 17, according to a transcript of the sermon on the church???s website.

???He???s a leader of Jews for Jesus, a ministry that is out on the leading edge in a pressing, demanding area of witnessing and evangelism,??? Kroon said.

Brickner then explained that Jesus and his disciples were themselves Jewish.

???The Jewish community, in particular, has a difficult time understanding this reality,??? he said.
Brickner???s mission has drawn wide criticism from the organized Jewish community, and the Anti-Defamation League accused them in a report of ???targeting Jews for conversion with subterfuge and deception.???

Brickner also described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity.

"Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It's very real. When [Brickner's son] was in Jerusalem he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment ??? you can't miss it."

I thought this was interesting, at any other time it would be funny, now it is just scary.

Friday the Attorney General's office promised state witnesses would comply with subpoenas the Legislature issued last week. Tuesday the Governor's Attorney General flip flopped, and announced that state witnesses wouldn't comply because, well, and I'm paraphrasing here - - he's changed his mind. And in what has to be an idea hatched after a 4th Martini at Chilkoot Charlies, Governor Palin's attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss the ethics claim she filed against herself two weeks ago. Yup. She really filed a complaint against herself. Tuesday she said she's discovered, after a thorough investigation of herself, that she's done nothing wrong. Does anyone know how to get a hold of Jon Stewart and Tina Fey?

is a woman she is the ideal vice presidential candidate? In the article above I read that Women voters will most likely vote for Palin because she is a woman. And Democrats may switch sides. Well I'm a moderate I vote for the person and I vote for the cause...not by party. And this woman is not voting for some gun totting Governor who claims to see Russia from her house and wants to take my rights as a WOMAN away. I don't care who you are or what party you reside on...do you know what it was like for women when abortion was illegal? What's next, taking our right to vote away? It's not the point of abortion being right or wrong. I'm personally not for abortion; I'm for the right to choose. The point is our rights will taken away. Our RIGHTS that women like you and me have worked so hard to achieve. Maybe that's not a big deal to you or maybe you just don't care. But as a woman I do. And as a woman, I'm surprised you don't.

  • Posted By: glcafasso @ 09/17/2008 3:32:57 PM

I'm shocked that Democratic Women voters are thinking about voting for Palin for the mere fact that she is a woman. I find that utterly ridiculous. I seriously hope that most women are not going to be so ignorant as to vote for her because she is a woman and instead really look at what she brings to the table. Hilary is no slouch - she is a smart, educated and strong woman regardless who she is married to. He didn't hold her hand through the primaries. She did that on her own. What happened to women standing up for each other? She was the first woman to get as close as she did, doesn't that count for something? So just because Palin is a woman she is the ideal vice presidential candidate? In the article above I read that Women voters will most likely vote for Palin because she is a woman. And Democrats may switch sides. Well I'm a moderate I vote for the person and I vote for the cause...not by party. I would love to see a woman as President in my life time, or vice pres. for that matter. That being said, I want an honest woman more than anything, one that won't stretch the truth or outright lie, even after all respeced news organizations have exposed the lies. Sarah Palin has lied about the "bridge to nowhere", the chef she supposedly fired, the ebay jet, the faulty teleprompter, her now not cooperating with the troopergate investigation, her politic-speak answers to Charlie Gibsons questions, I feel like they should name a bus the "Circular talk Express" and put her on it. She would have suited herself better to stick to her true accomplishments. I would respect that more. I just see more Bush tactics here. McSame and Pain are all they have. They are counting on the sheep to elect them. I am not convinced she is the right woman for the job.

The one largest reason for today's problems is Bush-Cheney, with the strong and full backing of the Republican Party, and their concentration on benefiting Special Interests while ignoring their responsibility to the people. Dishonesty is the cloak that all other negatives hide behind and the last eight years have clearly demonstrated that lesson well. If we now buy into more of the BS, then we really can???t complain when we get crapped on again. Some, with their biases, prejudices and emotional attachments, would really like it to be different but the reality simply is that this time around the only chance for real change, that benefits the majority of Americans, is through Obama-Biden. The choice is literally for more of the same, no matter how disguised and rationalized, or instead for a chance for change with the focus being on the people instead of Special Interests. Hopefully voters can find their conscience and make the rational and objective decision that we all will benefit from, otherwise get ready for more of the same.
