Troopergate?..Hardly think this is anything "gate"...Now its a scandal to fire someone because of budgets or insubordination?...That stalker of a trooper gets canned because he is a dangerous trooper to begin w/..Beating his wife, attacking kids w/ stun guns, and making threats...Holy crap! What type of ppl do the Dems want running this country? A good trooper in their eyes should NOT be fired because of this type of behavior?..I really shouldnt be surprised..Dems thought it was acceptable for Clinton to behave like he did in the Whitehouse...Its o.k. this, like every scandal the Dems want to make a big item will be found to be nothing miraculous...Just a case of a disgruntled ex-employee trying to make a scene and get his 5 mins of fame on t.v...Obamas thugs will push on to find something, anything, just to bring down a candidate thats out shining him...Thats fine...The Republican party loves to wait till the last minute to spring the Obama scandals out in the open..Obamas campaign is grasping at straws, hence the "troopergate scandal" that isnt. Wait for the e-mails to come to life regarding Palins admin. dealing w/ the trooper.

So sorry that you find the truth objectionable. It appears that you have already deciced what the truth is without any investigation to determine what it actually is, It seems that the news released by various inter4ested groups is what you base your truth on. Is there something wrong when the "truth" is not that that is determined by disinterested parties in a court of law decided by your peers?, or is that unconstitutional? why don't we ask Mr Obama he taught Constitutional Law for 12 years!!!

      • Posted By: observer101 @ 09/17/2008 12:51:57 PM

Say, what was Clintons interpetation of the law when he lied at his hearings regarding Lewinsky?..Wasnt he and his wife involved in law for years?...Just because Obama has 12 years in office doesnt make him a law abiding citizen himself....He is now a politician not a lawyer...He like all politicians will lie, steal, con, and decieve to get what office they are trying to attain...Surly there is something more devastating against Palin than a disgruntled trooper case....But apparently not, if thats all Obamas camp can come up with...

How can you have issues with a nominee and ethics and be on the Democratic party when Biden is running for VP? How can his lies, cheating, ethical issues and so forth not be a problem for you, but Palin's are?

    At least be consistent.

She gets due process, defending yourself is not a crime, not even if its an agressive defense. I don't know if she is guilty or not, but seriously...your contradictions are absurd. Biden has been found guilty of lying, cheating and other things. Why can you stomach that but not due process for Palin? When / If they find her guily of some ethical crimes or other civil matters, THEN you run off at the mouth...even then its repulsive, but if that works for you, that would be the time to do it.

You cry for due process for Wooten, but won't give it to Palin.

Also, Bush isn't running in this election. Every election the opposition says the other side is more of the same. Break the cycle! Think for yourself! Be even handed in your outrage! If something outrages you for one person, it should for another, no matter what party they are with or if you "like" them or not. You all write your amazingly intelligent and witty responses with no concern with how they do not make any sense or have any ethical or moral value to them. Wait for the verdict. Until then, Wooten and Palin, both due process. Very simple.

Duhh!! We'd all be happy to show her the same respect!!
BUT WHEN SHE REFUSES TO COOPERATE IN THE INVESTIGATION (AFTER SHE ALREADY SAID SHE WOULD) SHE DOES NOT--REPEAT..DOES NOT-- DESERVE ANY RESPECT!!

  • Posted By: Alongwayback @ 09/17/2008 12:50:06 PM

I don't think that Republican voters truly understand what is at stake in this election and why it should be just as important to them as it is to the rest of us. Their candidates by the facts, not made up lies and half-truths are corrput and corruptable. To vote for McCain/Palin is to vote AGAINST your own best interest. The last eight years in and of themselves proves that. The corruption and abuse of power by the current administration bears that out in ridiculous fashion. To ignore the truth and act on known lies, which have been proven as such by the facts is insane. "McCain/Palin--Two bridges to nowhere" "John McCain has been consistent--Consistently for the rich"

Having a lawyer defend you in a legal proceeding....amazingly deceptive and sneaky! HOW DARE SHE!!

  • Posted By: Alongwayback @ 09/17/2008 12:41:51 PM

Again I say, if Palin refuses to cooperate, then she needs to taken off the ticket until this investigation can be made to reach its' proper conclusion. If the rest of the American public can be held accountable for their actions, so can she. None of us in this country can apply for and expect to be, hired for any job with ongoing litigation trailing us into the attempt to gain employment. If this is allowed, it clearly sends out the message which holds that Republicans are indeed above the law and what does that really say?

    • Posted By: valark @ 09/17/2008 12:45:29 PM

Refusing to cooperate doesn't mean she walks away and refuses to come to the hearings and the process of the investigation. It means that she doesn't sit there, without a lawyer and answer any question thrown at her in detail. She still is accountable and they still investigate.

Palin's refusal to face this thing (which she started in the first place) just keeps on making all Republicans look like crooks, especially since McSame put his big toe into it and got his fat cat Washington insiders to try to intimidate the local law and scare the law suit away. The American people don't have any respect for this type of gamesmanship.

If McCain's cronies succeed in scaring Alaskin lawmakers, this will still all be revisited in a coverup hearing in the Capital, if we should be so misfortunate as to have yet another unwanted four years of Republican rule.

So much money has been laid at the feet of the American people: We have the war to pay for, Wall Street, AIG and on and on. We literally have to pay for all of the failings which occurred during the past 8 years. Why on earth would McCain want to lay more debt on the American people in having to pay for the prosecurition of Sarah Palin? Don't go away mad, just go away.

Sorry boys, this is one investigation that you will not be able to derail.. that 's typical for the Reps.. deceit, hide, and lie. She should have not been considered for VP slot with all her "baggage" McCain, you've lost it.

  • Posted By: Alongwayback @ 09/17/2008 12:35:48 PM

Republicans are appalling with their unending use of diversion to not answer questions. You or anyone ask them a poit-blank question which you can offer proof of why the question is asked, and they all come back with the same verbatim tactic, answer a question which was not asked and has absolutely nothing to do with what was even asked in the first place, be very long-winded with it and by all means, avoid answering the exact question!!

In business, which most dems no nothing about. You are allowed to fire someone. You are allowed to back, or not back, a potential firing. If you do wrong, which was the case with the trooper, you can be fired. It's called accountability, which the dems no nothing about. Blame everyone else for your misery.

Hands down, THE MOST USELESS TOPIC DISCUSSED IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

    • Posted By: piinalu @ 09/17/2008 12:41:57 PM

Agreed on the uselessness, but it begs the question why they don't just come out and say what you just said. Most people could handle that. The excessive lawyering just makes it look like a typical political cover up.

Just the small bit of evidence already out there seems to point to a clear abuse fo power and a personal vendetta against this man bu Sarah Palin. If she is willing to deny workman's comp and badmouth this guy to everyone in Alaska's State government, imagine how she'll abuse power if she's a heartbeat away from the Presidency. She's the female George Bush, too pigheaded to change her mind or moderate her emotions, too overconfident to admit she's not qualified.

She's a Petty-Spiteful Hounder of those she has a Score with, which says a lot about her Vengeful Ways, even to her own Downfall and those around her....

Sarah Palin hounded and tried to intimidate then Alaska's Safety Commisioner Monegan, for about [17 Months] until his Firing, regarding an Ex-Brother in Law, he's still an [Alaskan Trooper] and god knows what else this Heffa will do ?

If Todd & Sarah Palin were so Concerned about the little boy who was [Tazered], why did they wait [Years Afterwards] to mention it, becuse they really did not care, thats why and it was not a Fullly Powered Tazer Gun, it was a more scaled down, Less Powerful Tazer, it was still Wrong, but what is Far Worse and Wrong, is that Sarah Palin, Nor her Husband Todd Palin, nor her Sister say or did a Damn thing about this [Tazering of a 10 yr old Boy], until this Hateful and Bitter Divorce between Palin's Crazed Sister and her one time Brother In Law [Wooten]

    The Palin's & Wooten's are [RED]

    "Redder than a Coca-Cola Can' ...I'm Sorry,

I Mean [Really Rural & Mountainous Frontiersmen and Women Red]

True Kissing Cousins Rural, Hell Wooten has been Married [4 Times !!!] and he's Only [35 Years Old !!!]

Now the McCain Camp, RNC and Rep. On Air Radio Host are saying that the Investigators involved in [Trooper Gate] are [Biased] How is that so ?

When Alaska is 1st an foremost a Republican State, The Investigators of the probe to find the truth are Predominantly [10 Republicans] and [4 Democrats] how is that [Biased] would Palin want all involved in this case, to be [Republicans Only] when she herself Ordered the Probe, based on her Alaskan [Transperancy Laws] ...keep in mind she signed off on this Process and OK's the Process and those Involved !!!

Wow. I guess Newsweek needed to respond to the lawsuit against partisan Obama supporters LEADING the ethics investigation into Palins behavior. The lawsuit revealed yesterday by the Anchorage News alleges Chair and Lead Investigator are BOTH Obama supporters who have blocked the committee from meeting - perhaps to drag out this controversy ?

    • Posted By: tired of GOP @ 09/17/2008 11:54:32 AM

I'm so sorry that you missed the news that the committee who authorized the investigation was BI-Partisan and voted unanimously to investigate.

      • Posted By: pwilso24 @ 09/17/2008 12:29:12 PM

"tired of GOP" you missed the news yesterday.. neither "bipartisan democrats" Chair and Lead Investigaters revealed their ties to the Obama camp and prior statements of Palins guilt before the vote on launching the investigation. Bottom-line:.. all parties agreed to proceed to CLEAR the air before the election. Now Dems want to drag this out.. delaying the committee meeting...and pursuing a withchunt. What happneened to Obamas plea ? leave this woman alone ?

        • Posted By: pwilso24 @ 09/17/2008 12:38:14 PM

Early on a CNN Alaskan correspondent reporting on this story warned the Obama camp to stay away from this investigation. He said the trooper was no poster-boy for liberals.

Indeed, in New York City or San Fransico.. Al Sharpon and Lib Dems would be marching in the streets over the bureacrats DEFENDING such a trooper... if a liberal woman family was on the receiving end of this abuse.
Anyways this is a FIRST.. Democraats and Liberal defending a law enforcement officier. : )

  • Posted By: piinalu @ 09/17/2008 12:36:38 PM

I'm an Obama supporter and think this is nonsense. If this is the worst thing about her record (and I don't think it is) then I'd probably be voting for her running mate. The trooper is bad person. No question about that. Who wants a person like her sister's ex in uniform? And if the head of the department wouldn't do anything about it, then fine, fire him. The heavy-handed response by McCain's lawyers make this look a lot worse, though. How about talking about some substance regarding candidate Palin, instead, like no foreign policy experience, and the myth that she's anything other than a typical politician.

I am an independent. I dont care about either party! This is not a party issue. This is an American way of living issue! I am conservative on most issues and middle of the road on others. My number one threat is the decline of our economy. What I care about is the fact that in the last 8 years, the value of my dollar has declined, my customers cannot afford my services, I have to lay off people and cut out the quality of service that I think people deserve, and increase prices in order to break even. I worry most about my own and the people who depend on me's survival. If I have to do this then everyone from the smallest mom and pop to the fortune 500 companyies must be the feeling the same uneasiness about thihgs. I am furious that while I am dealing with this and paying the in the highest tax bracket the spending of the government has been out of control, Like I said, I am conservative about a lot of issues but this economy affects me the most personnally.

If the Palins are so right, why do they need a team of lawyers in addition to the attorney that the state is suppling? Why lie on the national ABC interviiew that she welcomed this inquiry? Who is really "politically tainting" the inquiry?

". Obviously, the McCain camp and Sarah Palin feel there is something there that needs to remain hidden by darkness. Otherwise, what plausible reason would they have for attempting to suppress the truth from being brought out into the light of day for all to view? If they are truly agents of "change", they really need to prove it here and let the investigation roll without interference or manipulation by them or their agents. If the Republicans do not care to leave the investigation to its' own devices and timetable, they only prove what Barack Obama has been asserting all along, that they represent four more years of the same Bush/Cheney policies of the last eight years. The proof would then be in the proverbial pudding so to speak.
My opinion, "McCain/Palin 08'--Two bridges to nowhere" and "McCain/Palin 08'--Four more years of the same thing we are trying to rid ourselves of". How can you say you are "agents of change", when you
