I don't know why you folks are trying to change any of these people's minds with some logic. The term republican comes from the conservative side of life. The term conservative refers to those folks who want to 'conserve' what they have and what is, so they "CANNOT" change, even in the face of overwhelming logic. It is beyond their power to change their own minds because they are so fixed on whatever it was that made them conservative. I've had one tell me that they don't listen to anything on the issues because they don't want to be bothered by any data, they had already made up their minds (or had them made up for them by some piece of prejudice, which by the way means pre judging, or following those wonderful pearls of wisdom your mother or father imparted to you when you didn't have the ability to reject anything they said.) I get a lot of conservative thought is that anyone that is a democrat is on welfare, only wants everything given to them and are totally dependent upon the government. When in effect the conservatives are totally dependent upon the government and dread the day that they would have to take responsibility for their use of other people to make their profit.
So, please, don't try to use logic on these folks, it only makes it worse. It restimulates the feelings that they have to be right and will hold to their antiquated ideas because they do not have the ability to arrive at a decision without their preprogrammed responses. They are commonly found to be using words or phrases like ,"they always" and "Those people" and "it has always been known". These phrases are designed to make you think that there is an overwhelming amount of data to substantiate their narrow views, when in effect, there is only their opinion, usually not backed by any logic or analysis at all.
Sorry folks, but stop wasting your time. They are stuck.
YOU ARE NOW WITNESSING REPUBLICAN OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE IN THE MAKING.
ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO HIDE THE TRUTH.
MORE SECRECY.
This NPR article is comments from Alaskan ....Sue Libenson, a public relations consultant for conservation and sportsmen's issues.
Libenson used to support Palin. In fact, last year Libenson sent a letter to the editor of the Anchorage Daily News extolling the governor.
"Palin's got us on the right course," Libenson wrote. "Kudos to Gov. Sarah Palin for calling an end to Ketchikan's 'Bridge to Nowhere.' From ditching the jet to revisiting oil taxes, Palin has shown leadership."
Once Palin stepped onto the national stage, however, Libenson says the governor started misrepresenting her positions.
In her acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, Palin said, "We are expected to govern with integrity and goodwill and clear convictions and a servant's heart. And I pledge to all Americans that I will carry myself in this spirit as vice president of the United States."
The governor's actions, Libenson says, prove otherwise.
In that same speech, Palin told Americans she will be an advocate for children with special needs. "In fact," Libenson says, "just this summer she cut funding for Alaska's Special Olympics."
Libenson cites the governor's line-item veto trimming the Special Olympics budget by $275,000. Palin also slashed funding for statewide independent living centers and transition housing for homeless young adults, Libenson says.
Libenson points out that in a state with one of the highest substance abuse rates in the country, Palin squelched funding ??? some $325,000 ??? for a substance abuse education and prevention program aimed at young people. And that she also pared the state's financial support of a Fairbanks community food bank, a drop-out-prevention program and an addiction rehabilitation facility.
There is a tradition in Alaska, Libenson says, that when people see something wrong, they come right out and say it. "When something happens, you step forward and do something," she says, "especially when someone is going around saying things that aren't true."
Again:
THE TASER WAS A TRAINING DEMO WITH THE FAMILY WATCHING AND LAUGHING. This training demo was deemed as bad judgement by the officer. That is it. Guess you just conveniently left that part out.
This interference by the McCain campaign is an attempt by the republicans to HIDE MORE REPUBLICAN CORRUPTION. PALIN HERSELF WANTED THIS and IT WAS COMMISSIONED by four democrats and EIGHT REPUBLICANS. That is right, EIGHT REPUBLICANS VOTED FOR THIS to go forward.
McCain does NOT want the TRUTH TO COME OUT.
PALINS PAST RECORD ALREADY SHOWS SHE FIRES ANYONE WHO DOES NOT KISS UP TO HER.
WHY WOULD THE TROOPERGATE FIRING BE ANY DIFFERENT?
HAS NOT AMERICA HAD ENOUGH OF REPUBLICAN SECRECY AND CORRUPTION?
what does mrs.falin got to hide? who is paying for this lawyer from mc cain anyway? i'll bet it's the taxpayers...the rest of us trickled down upon...i'm really tired of republican doublespeak...swiftboat,saddam's WMD,shock and awe....mission accomplished...strong economy...no recession...fannie mae, lehman bros, merril lynch...no lies[ as seen on the view]...come on people,now....let's get together...vote for Obama/McCain....or learn to speak chinese
k@chicago...speaking of ex-wives,do you know the abuse that hero/mccain put upon his 1st wife when he returned from 'Nam to find her disfigured from a horrible accident? he started dating women w/no scars, until he met the affluent cindy and married-up! talk about the american dream[ever seen that movie "the Manchurian Candidate"...you got to wonder]
What happens if Palin is elected AND IS THE FOUND gUILTY?
Hello?.
Have all of you completely missed the point that he tasered his 10-year old stepson. That he had subjected the son and mother (Palin's sister) to domestic abuse.
This is the reason why so many women and children remain stuck in abusive homes at the hands of horrific men... there is very little support and everyone blames all other parties except the man. The irony is... isn't this suppose to be part of the democratic plarform.... Protect the vulnerable and innocent... how hypocritical...
We need to begin practicing human rights in our own country before we condemn others.
The investigation was as to whether Palin overstepped her authority as governor......not whether Wooten was a nice person or not.
She appears to have overstepped....but maybe we will never know the true facts as she is unwilling to help clear this up..... Looks way to much like she is hiding something.
Actually, she was fully cooperative... the commissioner also said that she didn't actually "say to fire the trooper", but assumed that's that they wanted. Then when Obama's team came in, he said otherwise... and now it's all spun b/c of the election. If you were her, knowing everything will be twisted and turned and tainted.... would you think it's fair? Look how much is everything is spun from both sides in this election already
Uhhh gee Einsteina she fired his boss!!!! AND he also paid the price for his actions and that doesn't excuse the abuse of power.....PERIOD just like Hitler did when he first started out! The law is the law...obey or pay! His boss is being punished for no reason and you think it's a good thing! HMMMM about that morality!
First off... she is Governor of the state... she has responsibility to protect all citizens of her state, that does not exclude her family. Second, if Harvey74 is correct, then maybe that top cop has allowed far too much domestic abuse and violence to take place and as usual... looked the other way. There could be much more to this than what little anyone on here knows.
Finally, more and more information is pointing to the fact that the brother-in-law incident had nothing to do with it. Records are beginning to show that the top cop did more behind the Governor's back then allow abusive, violent men to stay on the force.
I agree, that if the investigation were allowed to move forward now, we would have these questions answered. On the other hand, many of us understand that if it went forward now... the Obama camp would spin and distort the entire process beyond recognition for political gain, and that in and of itself is not helpful either. And anyone on here that would say that Obama would stay out of it and let the investigation run its course and keep his mouth shut knows nothing about politics.
That's a great reason to stop an investigation...because Obama may run with it. It is not about politics. If you make your bed, then lie in it. Regardless of this election, the truth is the issue, and the investigation started before her nomination. If there were real reasons to fire the guy, then let it come out, and she will be vindicated. It should not be stopped because of the election, as it was not started because of it. We should just see what the outcome is. She may be right! Who knows?
Lynn you are saying all of these things, yet McCain turned his back on his first wife because she was crippled and had no money. He called his second wife a cun* and his anger problem grows and especially with women. You really need to think about who you feel is the right person to lead this nation.
WE GET IT! Wooten is probably an evil, evil man. The reality is that based on the statistics against crime against women in Alaska, there were probably many more evil men on the force. The problem is not that he was evil and did not deserve punishment. The problem is that due to Palin's first hand and one-sided knowledge of his issues, he was placed under a spotlight and subject to greater scrutiny than other troopers. I don't think that anyone is arguing that he did not deserve punishment; however, it was not the job nor purvue of the Governor to abuse her power to accomplish it. That's the basis of the bipartisan investigation.
So she was for the investigation before she was against it ? Anybody want to buy a bridge ?
Actually, I think the commissioner said she didn't actually say to "fire" the state trooper before he said that she did say it. He said this after the Obama folks came in... hmmm
only if it goes nowhere

Remember people... 'Hell hath no furry like that of a scorned moose burger eater !'
Yup and she can put lipstick on the moose and kiss it!
This is so funny. McCain wants to stop the investigation, but yet, he can't stop the media talking about her being in a Church and listening to David Brickner talk about God's Judgment. That means the Jews are being killed because they will not embrace Chrisitanity. He said that it is God's will. Now lets see if they treat Sarah Palin the way they treated Obama.
This investigation started prior to Palin being selected as McCain???s VP. At the time of the initial investigation Palin stated that she and her staff would fully cooperate with the investigation. The American people have a right to know if Palin abused her power while in office. This decision should be made prior to the election. It there is concrete evidence that she did abuse her office it should be made known. If there is concrete information that she did not abuse her office that should be made known. BUT, it sure sounds fishy that Palin/McCain are trying to get this investigation stopped.
How can anyone that shoots polar bears from a helecopter just for the fun of it be trusted. Why not make it at least sporting and give the polar bears AK47s! She's got big balls and a small brain but she's 100% sissy! Really is that supposed to be a sport? Why not just tie them to a stake to make them easier to shoot? Does she club baby seals to death too?
are all republicans above the law? If they get away with this, a lot of ordinary people are going to lost faith in this country and the fairness of our justice system

Comment: If the Obama campaign can keep Palin off the campaign trail with useless investigations then they think they will have a better chance of beating McCain...
goes to motive every time in every investigation.
That's why Obama's campaign dispatched 30 attorneys to Alaska to try and dig up sh!t on Palin....and we are still waitning...because there isn't any.
___________________________________________________________
The McCain-Palin ad also twists a quote from a Wall Street Journal columnist. He said the Obama camp had sent a team to Alaska to "dig into her record and background." The ad quotes the WSJ as saying the team was sent to "dig dirt."
Update, Sept. 10: Furthermore, the Obama campaign insists that no researchers have been sent to Alaska and that the Journal owes them a correction.
Digging for "Dirt"
The ad also quotes the Wall Street Journal as saying that the Obama campaign "air-dropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers to dig dirt on Governor Palin." That's also a distortion. The Wall Street Journal opinion article did not say that the Obama team was there to "dig dirt." It said they were there to "dig into her record and background." Maybe the McCain-Palin campaign knows something we don't about what's in Palin's record and background.
The full quote, from an item by conservative columnist John Fund, dated Sept. 9:
WSJ's John Fund, Sept. 9: Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and Mrs. Palin's hometown of Wasilla to dig into her record and background. My sources report the first wave arrived in Anchorage less than 24 hours after John McCain selected her on August 29.
Update, Sept. 10: After this article was posted, the Obama campaign contacted us to say that John Fund's article is wrong.
Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor, Sept. 10: John Fund's claim that we "air-dropped" 30 lawyers into Alaska is false. No one from the Obama campaign or the DNC has been sent to Alaska. We've asked Mr. Fund for a correction.

Thanks, Shad. I said NYT and it was WSJ.
We come in peace...do not run...we come in peace...do not run...we come in peace...do not run...I will cooperate with the investigation....I will cooperate with the investigation...we come in peace...do not run..Hmmm they sound almost alike!
We come in peace...do not run...we come in peace do not run...we come in peace do not run... I will cooperate with the investigation...I will cooperate with the investigation...we come in peace do not run we come in peace do not run!!!!!! Hmmmm they almost sound alike!
And lets just ignore the obviousness of the Democratic parties involvement it propelling this non-issue forward in the first place. You libs should stick to roasting children alive - can you say Branch Davidian
She's just confirmed that perhaps there is more here than they want out before election.
Yeah of course the investigation compromised with a board composed of eight Republicans and four Democrats! You need reading glasses!
If it is truly a non-issue, why did she suddenly change her mind about cooperating?
What is she hiding if she did nothing wrong? Why not just clear the non-issue up and get it behind her?
why indeed. precisely what thinking voters are asking......
"Wait, wait, wait...don't investigate me yet--you bipartisan committee that voted unanimously (before I was even mentioned in the same breath as McCain) to investigate me for firing the guy who wouldn't fire the guy my sister doesn't like. Honest, I've got nothing to hide; but instead, let's have my lawyer start a different investigation. This one will be decided by my buddies who I appointed and can later fire if they screw up, just as soon as my lawyer finishes reviewing the evidence and tells them whether I am guilty or not. Sound cool?"
(Whispering to Johnny Mac on the phone: "Watch this Mr. McCain, American voters are so stupid, they'll think this fake not guilty verdict is the real one, and before they realize the real investigation is still going on, we'll win the election in 7 weeks)
PLEASE!!! THIS MAKES NIXON LOOK CLEVER AND SUBTLE.
