There was a time I saw a difference between McCain and Bush. I can see very little difference between Palin and Bush. McCain showed very poor judgment and a willingness to win at ANY cost. If he were younger and healthier I might not be as worried. But then there is also the fact that Republicans have claimed Fiscal Responsibility and less Government as their mantra. I don't thing that means what they think it means.

Ketchikan has a year-round population of 14,000 people (not 7,400 as your article states) and the airport on "nowhere" services 250,000 visitors every year that have to take a ferry three hundred yards to town. Get your facts straight.

Ketchikan has 14,000 people and is the fourth largest city in Alaska, not 7,400. 250,000 people a year fly through that airport on "Nowhere" and then have to take a ferry ride to get to town. Get your facts straight.

Murkowski , his daughter the Senator, other officials, and developers tried to sneak through a wilderness land grab to sell to developers. They were claiming that the wilderness lands belong to the University of Alaska and the sale of these lands would help support the University.

Hey, I've been to the Ketchikan International Airport! Ok, Ok, I was only there for a 20 min lay over, but if Palin can claim Ireland, I can claim I've been to Ketchikan. It is really a very small airport. What is missing from this story is why the project is really needed. Perhaps it is to help support the sports fishing industry and tourism? Also a lot of these rich sports fishing folks are now buying up real estate on other islands. Murkowskidddaughter daughter

Obama on camera " We will run a clean campaign, no smear tactics on this side. The family is off limits, anyone of my people involved will be fired."
Nobama off camera " Do whatever it takes to smear that crazy b*tch, whoever does the most harm will receive a raise, we have to keep her off the campaign trail.

PS: Joe Biden, multi millionaire gives 3000 in charity (WOW) wants to "take" from the rich and give to the poor under the guise of patriotism.
" The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other peoples money."

      What an outlandish comment!

Among the 100 sitting senators, Joe Biden's net worth ranks 99th. He's worth about $150,000, house included.

Great way to manage money, when I who has about half his salary is worth more than $150,000.00 including my home also. I love your answere, it just goes to show what they will do with our money if elected.

.................................Palin was not a good Mayor of Wasila, Alaska or much of a good Alaska Governor either in her short time in office.........Why did McCain decide he wanted her to be his V.P. running mate? Was it her good looks or her charming personality or was it her ability to unleash political attacks on opponents? She seems to do well as a Public Relations Aide for his Campaign as she gets media attention but this is not enough to be a V.P. or step up to be President in a short time span.

#41 million road? That must be one fabulous road project! Seriously, ANY support of PALIN is INSANE at this point. I am NOT impressed with her bragging rights to reduce spending with her rejection of the Bridge to Nowhere when she DID approve of it and then KEPT THE MONEY ANYWAY! What a hypocrite!

This whole campaign about changing Washington and reforming is absolute crap. When i heard Obama speak i thought maybe he was being naive at times, but he surely cant top McCain's use of the word 'REFORM'.

    1) He knew Obama had a better message by using 'Change', so McCain started using 'Reform' to make his message more believeable.

    2) Palin was and still is a deployment just for getting women's vote. The Republicans keep deciding when to use her family for spotlight and when it's a private matter.

    3) I think both candidates dont have an answer to the economy. However, McCain's blame game be it Washington or Obama on the economy is sad and just shows how empty his words are. After spnding 20+ years in the senate, he should have a better statement than Obama but still plays the blame game.

    4) Supporting the Iraq war and claiming victory on the surge is plain stupid. The war itself is made up and people like McCain havent learned from the past. Backing Bush on 90% of the issues and then avoiding him (while seeking his support) during elections is called pandering. Its called identity politics.

    5) Palin is a total Lipstick when it coms to foreign policy. She has been groomed over the last 2 weeks like its the SAT's and her stance on Russia and Bush doctrine shows how clueless she is. The ABC interview was edited so what's next? The "unedited" FOX interview?
Palin is such a joke even her own party was caught laughing(microphone) over her when she won the nomination. Plastic Republicans!

Americans have had 8 years of Maverick's in the govt. Roe v Wade or the Gays are not going anywhere so worry about the ecnomy before worrying about 'American Values' whatever that means. By now the whole world is already well informed on 'American Values'.

I don't know al of her politics, but I have had as much of her screeching voice as I can stand. If she follows McCain to Washington, God help our delicate ears from this harridan.

Conyers Calls Out McCain Over Voter Suppression

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) responded Friday to recent media reports on the plans of the Macomb County Republican Party Chairman and others to use lists of residents of foreclosed homes to block their participation at the ballot box -- a voter suppression tactic called by some a form of "vote caging." Conyers called on John McCain to direct his supporters to stop the practice. The letter:

"The Republican Party has had a long record of blocking eligible voters from voting. In the past two Presidential elections, the country witnessed appalling efforts to limit voter participation in Ohio, Florida and throughout the country. It is beyond disgraceful that the Republican Party now seems to be targeting those who are suffering the most. It appears that individuals who can't recall how many houses they own don't understand how awful it is to lose your home to foreclosure, and don't know that you don't need to own property to vote in the United States of America. It should surprise no one that the people who gave us the worst economy since the Great Depression would now want to prevent those victimized by this economy from voting in the coming elections. Senator McCain needs to step forward now and halt the Republican Party's efforts to profit politically from the economic misery of others."

Sarah Palin would fit right in with the Imperial Palace we call the White House; she's showing she's had great practice in Alaska; democracy is on its death bed.

Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, Bear Sterns, Lehman Brothers, AIG and the rest of the failed institutions have failed primarily because of former Senator Phil Gramm. The Gramm-Leach-Biley Act stripped away the regulations separating banking from investment companies, insurance companies and mortgage guaranty companies. Those regulations were added after the Great Depression when it became obvious that allowing banks to be in bed with the stock market was a sure way to rig the system to collapse, as it did in 1929.

Lo an behold, a few years after the regulations were removed, the sh!t has hit the fan, and the inter-related investment, insurance, mortgage and banking industries are now starting to collapse, and guess what, you, the taxpayer will have to pay to clean it up.

Phil Gramm is the Senator who brought you the "Enron Loophole" that de-regulated futures trading, causing the prices of oil, gas and food to spiral out of control.

Senator Phil Gramm was McCain's top economic advisor until recently, when he was forced to step down after he said that there is no problem with our economy other than a "mental recession" on the part of a "nation of whiners." Phil Gramm is the man who McCain said he wants to name Secretary of the Treasury if he becomes President. You have to believe John McCain when he says that he knows little about the economy -- so little that he doesn't even know who to choose as an advisor.

Barack Obama addressed the Enron Loophole, futures trading, short-selling and Wall Street de-regulation months ago in his economic position papers, which are available on his website. Obama has been saying all along that he is going to put in strict regulations and clean up Wall Street.

McCain just started saying that he favors regulation in the past couple of weeks. How is it that McCain is going to put in new regulations, when he plans to appoint Phil Gramm, the man who authored the de-regulation, as Secretary of the Treasury? McCain says he would fire Christopher Cox, the SEC Chairman, to solve the problem. However, the problem is caused by lack of regulations on the legislative level, regulations that were removed before Cox was appointed. The SEC can only enforce regulations that actually exist, so making a scapegoat of Cox solves nothing. I would suggest that McCain is guilty of saying what's politically expedient, that he does not actually intend to regulate the banking industry. McCain knows that most Americans are unaware of the details.

I am a middle-aged white conservative Republican who loves America. I am voting for Barack Obama.

If the media spent 1/100th of the time picking apart Oprahma's dismal and ineffective record in the Senate as they do attacking Palin, ad naseum, they might be accused of being fair and balanced. The media NEVER exposes or investigates Oprahma's record; all they ever do is act as his apologist. Makes one wonder why. What has Oprahma accomplished in the Senate? Just about nothing. Hardly a 'qualification' for promotion to President.
