    IF YOU ARE AGAINST THE BAIL OUT THEN YOU DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW THIS BANKING SYSTEM WORKS. I AGREE THAT THESE COMPANIES AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS NEED TO SUFFER, BUT I PAY MY MORTGAGE ON TIME EVERY MONTH AND I RESENT DEEPLY THOSE (BILL CLINTON) WHO SAYS THAT ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE ABLE TO OWN THEIR OWN HOME. HE FORGOT TO ADD EVEN IF THEY CAN'T MAKE THE PAYMENTS.

      Bill Clinton is not the president who proposed the "Ownership Society" - George W. is the culprit. Just another one of his failed iniatives and guess who pays - the middle class and poor - we aren't a democracy anymore thanks to the Bush Administration and Republican rule for the last 8 years.

    I am so distrusting of this whole situation. We have been lied to for a long time. The people we put in charge, voted in charge of taking care of our country has done nothing but lined their pockets with gold. Our government does not care about the middle and lower class citizen, they want to keep taking. I think all the CEO that caused this and got rich off it, should have to lose what they gained through the years. What has become of American, greed.

    I think that any CEO of a company that fails or goes bankrupt should be fined the sum of there compensation and any bonuses that they received at the company, and this goes for any exec,s also.

    This is nothing but pure out-and-out rape of the American Taxpayer! It is time for Americans to band together and put an immediate stop to this type of misuse and flagrant nose-thumbing at those of us that work so hard. If I lost $100 at my job I'd be fired on the spot. That we are expected to pay for all the mistakes made by those running these Mega-companies and our government just infuriates me.

    You knew it was coming...the Michigan legislature just introduced a special measure requesting that Congress now bailout the automobile industry too...then the airline industry will jump on the bandwagon, and maybe even the credit card people will want their cut of the pay...Bush was put in office to make millionaires billionaires and he is making it his last official task..besides all the pardons he will give out.

      I wonder if our representatives, and I use the word representatives loosely, read these comments. I want to know why they succumbed to the usual shock scare tactics of this administration -- and let's not fools ourselves, the Bush Admin. is right behind Paulson. The word is out they've been planning this bailout for the last 6 months and now it's urgent? This is blackmail.

    I have a hard time believing that this bailout will do anything more than prop up these entities...what makes anyone think that the government can find a way to even break even in this venture....your short analysis states that if may wind up costing just $250 billion...but, that is $250 billion too much...it is fraud and most of the legislators and Paulson will be dead before this thing finally comes to a head.....

    What BUSH gave, BUSH took back 50 times. From 300 dollars that he gave back to us, we now saddled with debt of 10,000 (?) each.
    I hope you voters, including the republicans forget that. You are so stupid if you think that their wealth trickled down to you. You were conned and manipulated.

    These people are just having parties left and right and screaming at us "SO LONG SUCKERS"!!!

      Do you really think that it matters which political party is in the Whitehouse. They are all the same. There are no poverty stricken politians.         I still wonder what could have been if Florida ( governed by another Bush) didnt cheat on the election.

    This is the most outrageous, flagrant abuse of the American Taxpaper that has ever been perpitrated. These guys should have NO payouts and jail time. Why are our legislators not putting down the hammer. No one has ever bailed out the little guy, if fact there are those who have been addimant about no entitlements. This is the biggest entitlement in history and the American Public is having their face rubbed in it.

    How do I get on this gravy train. I made the mistake of taking one of these ARM's using equity from my home to payoff medical debts and debt from a divorce with the intention that they would refinance me in 2 years. 2 years later they are gone and I struggle through the first year of adjustment to my mortage. With the 2nd adjustment coming I see there is no way I can refinance due to more debt from the lose of a job & lost equity in the home. I sold my house, took my lumps and am paying off my debt and living in much cheeper housing. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? I'm taking it, why can't everyone else. These CEO's should be taking reposibility for the loses at their companies by paying back the OUTRAGEOUS salary and bonuses they recieved for getting into this financial problem.
