They shouldn't get golden parachutes but I have no problem with them getting one made of lead. They owe the company money intead of them receiving a package.

I don't think these guys understand just how much rage is building up against this continual r*pe of the american people. come the revolution I'd hate to be in their shoes.
It's funny. Both Democrate's and Rebuplican's make grand speeches about being the working class friends, when in reality they are a buch of liars---They are more ready to make us pay for their CEO's friends mistakes, then making their CEO's friend's squirm under the hang mans noose. I believe we should fire the whole bunch, and start fresh with some good down to earth people who are not in with ivy league. Rose
Not everyone is just looking for a handout. I have a friend who is raising 8 children. She and her husband had 2 and have adopted 6 others from right here in the US. The last of which was adopted mre than 5 years ago. All of which have some kind of mental or physical issues. Yes they get help from the state but even with that and woking as many hours a week as they can while still providing a loving and secure home are still feeling the sinking of their ship. They are not far behind but just enough that they even go and donate plasma to make sure Christmas gifts are possible. They live very meagerly and don't spend unless necessary. What do you say to someone like that who really could use a bailout. Sorry you should be such good people and here I am taking your money to give to the bank but you won't really see any benifit you are still a month behind. So very sad. I have emailed this thread to my congressman, both my senators, and I plan emailing it to anyone else I think it might have a shot of really getting to. I suggest you all try the same. At least now I feel like I have tried to be heard.
There was a time, 20 years or so ago, that the financial markets were more tightly regulated. The republicans told us that de-regulation would open up more opportunities for us all. I didn't believe it. How many of you did? Expecting the financial industry to regulate themselves is about as realistic as expecting a rabbit to effectively guard a field of carrots. Now, because of this financial crisis and the wars in Iraq and Afganistan, the American voters will probably be wooed into voting for the undefined "change" that is being pushed by Barack Obama. This will be like throwing the baby out with the bath water. People, please...stop listening to extremism. Stop voting along party lines. Start educating yourselves and realize that the only thing the two major political parties are interested in, is furthering their own cause. NOT the greater good. We, the voters must do that. We all must stop being greedy. We all must stop being attracted to extremism. We all must start trying to be better people, and stop trying to see how much we can all get away with.
Today there is not a real choice left to vote for. Obama is the only real candidate. Tring to hedge his bet McCain took hmself out of the race as far as I'm concern. There were better qualified VP candidates Huckbee or Romney would have made a much better ticket. I'm sure not going to vote for him now with Palin only a heart-beat or stroke way from running this country in the shape it is in now.
It just goes to show. Democrates and Republicans are the same. They are more willing to help bail their cronies, while making the working class pay for the govt/friends messes. I say fired the whole bunch with no serverence buy out---make them pay or hand them out to dry. Maybe Congress should pay for their friends mess, instead of making us-the working class pay the bill. I love this country!! were else could you ruin a company(s) and walk away with millions scott free??? here's a plan you WONT hear on the table, instead of bailing wall street out pay the average american citzens morgage, car and credit card bills with the 700 billion and see how well the enconomy comes back! it's OUR money, right?? OH sorry, i forgot thats NOT in the intrest of big corperate companys and the govenment, hmmm go figure.
Yes the CEO's are to blame but what about the consumers that took on the mortgages knowing they couldn't pay them back? I'm sure it's not the only thing they're defaulting in which also contributes to the issues at hand. I'm sure these people are first in line with their hands out and blaming everyone else for their shortcomings.
Yes the CEO's are PART of the problem but let's not forget about the consumers taking on the loans knowing they couldn't pay them back. I'm sure their mortgage is not the only thing they are defaulting in which also contributes to the isses at hand.
CEO's and all parties involved should be stripped of what they have and go to jail. Give back to the people that make the right choices, don't penalize us.
I DON'T SEE RAINES, OR GORELICK HERE.
So it looks like we all pretty much agree that this bailout doesn't really help the situation that has been created. Could congress not take that money and pay off all missed payments on our credit and mortage accounts. I would think if you started with all accounts 90 days past due and worked your way up (60 days... 30days..) not oly would it help the financial institutions by funnelling in the money but it would help all of us who have worked very hard to earn a living but are still just that much short each month. I am not saying that this is not a little unfair to those of us that aren't behind at all but honestly who doesn't have a friend or loved one that is struggling. We as Americans get the perk of our own money directly helping us while fixing the banking situation at the same time. Yeeees I agree all these CEO's that are walking away with millions need to be held accountable for their crimes and the money returned but if the government really wants to bail someone out ...bail out the people.. Maybe it's my own weird logic but I think it would work. Now here is my real question. How do we get anyone to listen? How as joe public who means less than a grain of sand to the big boys and girls in Washington get heard. Yeah I can forward this post to my councilman, congressman, senator..but do they ever really see this or is some intern filing my concern in a file (13)?
None of those men are worth what they were paid. The poorer class people and their next two generations could live for years on the money these men have wasted on themselves. My son has two young daughters and even though he works long and hard, he has a terrible time making ends meet...there is always more month than money. What is wrong with this world today. I was brought up during the "hard times" and to this day, even though my father worked hard, we ate fish all summer and rabbits all winter. I would like to see some of these CEO's live like the lower class has to. No CEO is worth that amount of money. J. Burgar
Bailout - HA HA - How about scam. Golden Parachute- HAHA ,How about hush money for keeping silent on this rip off of the american taxpapyer. Why bail them out - if the mortgage crisis is the real problem - pay off everyones mortgage and then we wont need credit because we will all have plenty of cash to spend in our stagnant econmy.
I SAY FIRE EVERYONE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, VP, AND THE TOP DOG. IF I COST THE COMPANY MONEY, I WOULD BE FIRED. IF IT IS PROVEN THAT THEY DID TAKE FUNDS ALSO, SEIZE ANY AND ALL OF THEIR POSSESSIONS IMMEDIATELY.
I Hate Washington, I Hate Corporate Greed (& greedsters). As an educator, I've taught my students responsibility and accountability; I'm obriously out of step with American values. I need to teach my students - If you're irresponsible you're rewarded (bailed out) and if you're responsible, you are punished (you will pay for the bailouts of the irresponsible). I'm starting to get it. the Fish <")))))>{
The reason that Washington has decided to bail out these companies is because these CEO's have failed at their jobs. If they had been successfull at their jobs, their companies would not need to be rescued. Having failed at their jobs, it does not seem right to reward them with millions of dollars out of the taxpayer's pockets. If I were fired from my job for not performing well, I doubt if I would receive millions of dollars as a parting gift.
I do not see any need to reward people for performing poorly, and I am not sure about a government bailout at all. The whole point of a capitalist system is that companies who perform well succeed, and those who perform badly do not. I thought that economies where the government owns businesses was called communism?
It seems to me that we are bailing out these companies because the CEO's failed at their jobs. If I did a terrible job, I would not be getting a bonus of millions of dollars as a parting gift when I was fired. I don't quite understand why the taxpayers should reward these failures out of our pockets.
WHY CAN'T THE EX'S AND CEO'S TAKE LESS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT PUT US IN THIS SITUATION ANYWAY ... WHY SOULD WE PAY FOR THIER WALLETS TO BE FILLED AND WE THE PEOPLE HAVE TO PAY TO DO IT ,IT DOES NOT MAKE SENCE TO ME ,AS AND AS A HARD WORKER TRYING TO GET AHEAD AND STILL PAY MY BILLS ON THIME .. WHAT DO WE ALL DO NOT PAY OUR BILLS AND HAVE THE GOVERNMENT BAIL US OUT ALSO THAT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A BIG FANCY HOUSE AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT PAYING IT BACK BRING IT ON THANKS DLC
Perhaps the bailout money should be given to the taxpayers. They would spend, save, invest and do other things with the money. At least it would be injected into the economy.
Almost 2 billion in severance money? Not to mention their bloated salaries? Why does Wall Street perpetuate its own rescue? The market should NOT be rescued let it correct itself. We are well on our way to becoming a "fourth" world country.
