Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek, not the mouth. And he hanged himself. It is different.

Whats wrong with that. Thousands are single and happy. The purpose of sex is to start a family and increase the population, something gays can't do naturally.

So women who are past child bearing years, and men who are sterile should be forbidden to have sex because they cant procreate. Wow!!!! That is like ignorance to the 10th degree.

    • Posted By: cchat123 @ 09/18/2008 3:28:53 PM

The purpose of sex is to populate and raise a family? What time zone are you in?

No wonder women are underpaid and under promoted. Barefoot and pregant is the way to go....You hear that don't you Hillary and Sarah?

    • Posted By: FudgieLover @ 09/18/2008 3:19:21 PM

Does that mean infertile couples shouldn't marry? Wow...you are really a hard-liner!

    • Posted By: erutanjaxon @ 09/18/2008 2:57:36 PM

Neither did the Virgin Mary, and look what that produced.

  • Posted By: Danielj155 @ 09/18/2008 3:44:46 PM

Because the gay lifestyle causes death.

    • Posted By: erutanjaxon @ 09/18/2008 3:53:47 PM

So does the straight lifestyle....and so does every other lifestyle....because man is MORTAL!!!!

  • Posted By: Valerie1972 @ 09/18/2008 3:52:51 PM

I find it so interesting that there are so many points of view on this topic and just how divided we are. It actually makes me smile to see debate like this going back and forth. I'm enjoying reading this.

Per typicalamerican: "Marriage is and always has been a sacred union." Wrong. For centuries, marriage was an arranged pact between families, veiwed as means to increase the joint household's wealth, land ownership, and power. Even after the advent of Christianity, God had very little to do with marriage, and love had even less, during the Dark Ages or the Reformation. Have we moved past that? Obviously. But claiming that marriage is and always has been a sacred union is incorrect. Even today, how sacred is it if upwards of 50% of marriages end in divorce?

    • Posted By: typicalamerican @ 09/18/2008 3:52:50 PM

This is a good point...it is true. Sad, but true. However, you give a very dim view of marriage. My comments on this union were taken more from a Judeo-Christian world view (American Style) as opposed to whatever cultures you're describing

Leave the Bible out of it? No Thanks! It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Those who don't obey him are going to be like the folks in Noah's day who did not believe the flood was coming and when the waters rose up, they perished, outside of protection, beyond hope, crying out when it was too late. Woe unto those who have been warned, you won't feel so smart when the end comes. Yes, it matters!

    NO WAY ITS A SIN!

    • Posted By: max298 @ 09/18/2008 3:50:14 PM

Really it's not a sin.How do you come to that conclusion? Both the New and Old Testements say it is.

gay lifestyle causes death? I hope the writer knows that lesbians have the lowest AIDS risk of anybody else.

  • Posted By: samanthalove @ 09/18/2008 3:49:17 PM

Thank you for this insightful article. Members of the LGBT community are entitled to the same protections as those in the heterosexual community. Um...the last time that I checked, there is a little thing known as separation of church and state. You cannot justify discriminating against gays using religious rhetoric--they are purely straw arguments. I really wish that america would educate her citizens much better--maybe a mandatory conlaw class (let's talk about equal protection and Loving). Oh, I forgot, education is for elitists. I am disgusted by all of the cowards and hate-mongers lurking on this board. Judgment will come for them too. Stupidity will not save you.

  • Posted By: Dovbush @ 09/18/2008 3:48:48 PM

Without God, everything is possible. The gays are only too willing to speak that homosexuality is a "normal" natural part of life. They do this because it is the easiest way to hide their shame. By making a wrong a right and either denying there is a God or construing that he is 'all merciful', it frees them to satisfy their own disgusting pleasures.

What kind of country do you people live in? The United States of America was a country founded on SECULAR principles. It was a country for the FREE. It was a country to escape religious PERSECUTION. How dare you become what the founding father's tried to escape? The English were escaping a country that prohibited their religious choice. And by their religious choice, they were forbidding many other rights, including homosexuality. All of your opinions against gay marriage are clearly heard. But, legally, God and the Bible have no more right to be a part of the government than Muhammad and the Quran.
    Don't believe me?
Look up the word secular. Maybe you've seen it on your money, if you pay that close of attention to the "country you love."

I don't think it is necessary to create a "gay" movement in this country, but it is necessary that we all co-exist peacefully together, whatever our lifestyle choices.

  • Posted By: jnklive @ 09/18/2008 3:44:58 PM

For what it is worth, I think skirting the issue will not solve it. The whole point of the article seems to be that those "couples" that are not traditionally married, are not afforded the same rights, and this causes issues with the elderly that are in that position. I don't see why giving them the same rights would harm anyone or anything.
As for the "gay" thing, I am not sure about taking sides on this issue directly. But I do have a question of all that posted here referring to the Bible in their posts. Have you ever actually researched the Bible, to see what the original Scrolls said, as compared to the version given to us by the European monks? I, in my humble opinion, believe our religious leaders need to go back and retranslate the original Scrolls so that all could see how we have been being misled over the years. It is amazing to find out how much of what we see in the current versions of the Bible is not a direct translation of what was actually written on the Dead Sea Scrolls. And, for those that wonder, I was raised Catholic, and do consider myself a Christian. Part of being Catholic is verifying your belief in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. In so doing I am verifying that I will hold to the New Testament. And as Jesus said in the New Testament, "Put away the old, and I give you two new commandments, Love your God above all else, and love your neighbor as yourself." Yes, this may have also been mistranslated, but even so, these are definitely words to live by.

I first became aware of my same-sex attractions when I was three. At four, I was molested by two older boys who were brothers. I loved it and I wanted it to happen again. Finally, some attention from males! I was an effeminate and sickly child, and I lived with a perpetual obsession for the bodies of other men.

My relationship with my father was always distant, as he was ashamed of his unmasculine son. My mother kept me too close to her. Neither my father nor mother ever told me that they loved me, and I was never held or kissed.

Today, lust no longer has a tremendous hold on me. There are occasional difficult moments, but they are the exception, not the rule.

The gay lobby is very influential, and they have pretty much convinced the average American that our struggles are genetically induced. According to them, there is no hope of change. They are wrong.

I've discovered that you're never too ingrained in a habit, or too old to change and begin anew.

Trying changing your "native language" and see now natural it feels. Your language is "learned" not inborn, but it will always be with you. You will think and dream in that language, no matter what new one you learn. Suppressing or learning a new behavior will not override your natural inclination. If you are truly same-gender attracted, that is your natural state, as is your language.

      • Posted By: boarderchic @ 09/18/2008 3:44:41 PM

Umm...please read your argument again. First you say language is "learned", and at the end you say it's your "natural inclination". Homosexuality is neither "learned" or a "natural inclination" so your argument holds no ground. It is a choice, a "habit" if you will, and yes, it can be changed.

  • Posted By: happy04 @ 09/18/2008 3:42:23 PM

Why should it matter what sexual orientation you are? I believe that as long as you are happy in life with whoever it may make you happy, then it shouldn't matter if you're homosexual or heterosexual. This just goes to show you the ignorance in this country.

George- What is the difference between a picture of a hetro couple kissing and a gay couple kissing. NOTHING! It's about LOVE. It's a part of life and is not going away. Learn to accept the people around you!

    • Posted By: George from Westerville @ 09/18/2008 3:42:07 PM

I get on my daughter and her boyfriend's case when they kiss in public ... I guess I'm uptight about PDA ... it's something I think that should be done in private ... don't want it shoved in front of my face. I admit that I have hangups.

Gay people are divorcing too so why should they bother with marriage? Sarcasm aside, you are right. Ex-gays state you can come out of it and lead a perfectly healhtful natural life. This is from your people now. Or former.

Ex-gays are people that are unhappy with their lives, for whatever reason, and blame it on being gay. It is interesting to note that the two founders of Exodus, one of the first ex-gay groups, left the organization to be with each other in a loving same sex relationship.
