    OMG! Why would you put a picture of 2 women kissing on the front page when I go to this website!!! Have SOME prudence please! It's bad enough that I live in California and have to see this daily-but what's worse is having to explain to our children why 2 women are kissing!

            That is one of the most asinie commetns I have heard.

            There is nothing abnormal about same sex kissing. It is jsut that society had decided that it is wrong. But years ago society said that interacial kissing was not normal. We grew up abot that and are growing up about this.

In some cultures, men kiss men and women kiss women all the time, and not in a sexual manner. I guess cmg1973 wants to go to those countries and try to stop them.. Wait, just let him go.

    We all have to live with the consequences of our choices in life. These people made a conscious choice to break the "normal" rules. So, now they don't have anyone..........well...........gee.........what do ya want me to do about it? I don't whine and complain...........when are you all going to "grow up?"

      Actually nothing in the bible talks about sexual orientation.

      It talks ONLY about a specific sexual act that was practiced by certain pagan high priests during their rituals. These priests engaged in sexual acts with eveything, including animals and the dead. Christians tend to read single lines in the OT and make falacious assumptions about what is being said. Jews (whose interpretations of THEWIR OWN book [and it is first and foremost a JEWISH TEXT] have always said that single line readings are the hallmark of fools. And the Jewish scholars hve made the point that the prohibitions are parts of a greater prohibition against the pagan rituals that I mentioned.

      Another constant point of ignorance that people make is that homosexuality is PRIMARILY about sex. It is not. It is about attraction and thsoe things that having a good solid reltaionship brings. There are many gay and lesbian couples who do not engage in the the sexual acts that man-made bible mentions. There are also heterosexual cuoples who do nto engage in sex. A relationship that is only sex oriented is not a real relattionship. Holding hands, hugging, listening, caring, loving, sharing a life. THAT is what most gay and lesbian couples do. Just like straight couples. They are no different.

          No it does not. It talks about a specific act, not the sexual orientaion. Homosexuality is not defined by the sex act. It is denied by the attractin. Many gay couples do not engage in anal sex.

          And as I said, you are reading a single line which is the hallmark of a fool. Jewish scholars have statted that what is being discussed are the actiosn of a specifc pagan religon that was around the Israelites in Canaan. The section is warnign them not to behave as the idol worshippers did, whcih was to have uncaring sex with everything that moved and some things (the dead) that did not. The problem is that Christians are ignorant of the Oral Laws which (according to the story) were given at the same time and were to be used by the elders to interpret what the Torah was saying.

      Actually there is nothing in the Bible that opposes homosexuality the way ignorant people today oppose it. You need to do some intensive studying before you go off half-cocked and make stupid comments. BR549 pointed out about eating lobster. Actually, there is a law in the Old Testament about not eating lobster, but there isn't about being gay. Read the book, in its fullness before you try to quote pieces that you have heard from non-learned pastors teaching their rhetoric, not God's.

        Your mistake is in claiming the Bible is EVERYONE's book. The Bible is your book because you CHOOSE to make it so. I am not a Christian so guess what..the Bible has nothing to do with me. Not one word, sentence or paragraph. I will defend your right to CHOOSE to make the Bible yours but if I CHOOSE not to, my viewpoint is every bit as valid. I know that gay people do not CHOOSE their orientation but even if they did, so what? The Gay choise is 100% as valid as the Christian chooice. Too bad Christians are so intolerant they cant stand a free society where all viewpoints are repected.

        Your wrong, Leviticus does say it along with other references throughout. Don't try to justify the sin, accept it as human nature and move on. The book also states that we are all sinners and we have all been forgiven.

    You are different than most people and society knows it and this is why they treat you different. You need to wake up and realize that most people in today's society do not like your lifestyle and that is why you have to keep fighting to gain a bit of respect. I am sure if you keep shouting long enough you will be able to have a few incidental rights but for the most part you will not have the same rights as most of the moral majority.

    The point of this article, as I understand it, is to bring attention to a unique set of challenges and needs being faced by one section of the population of the U.S. With this in mind I must confess that even though I take care of two women who are not related to me, who have no children, who have survived their spouses, who have no place else to go, I did not consider the implications that their situations would have that would be reflected in the needs of an entire community. For my part I believe that by being made aware of the needs that are specific to aging people - all aging people - we as citizens can make changes in our society to meet the needs of the members in our communities. These are people - citizens of the U.S. - who have lived their lives, worked, contributed to society, paid taxes and social security, and are now just asking for us to be aware that they have things to consider as they grow into older age that a jackass hillbilly with a puritanistic self-righteous mind frame, who married a woman that stayed at home and made more hillbilly offspring who are puritanistic self-righteous jackasses, might have to consider. Everyone who quotes a Christian biblical reference in their attempts to condemn a person is not a true Christian. You lack charity - the pure love of Christ. So while you are sitting and fiddling with your rocks, waiting to cast stones, I am going to take the information from this article and see how it applies to my life, country, and fellow citizens, and see if I can find a solution.

        Wrong...why do you care? Has anything ever been done to you by any of these people? Again, religion is not supposed to play any part in government. So, if you bar religious zeallots opinions, then who is to say that it is wrong? You say it is morally wrong...I say it is morally wrong for you to condemn those that are only trying to give their mates what hetero mates get. Grow up and realize that your God created everyone, so, by condemning gays, HIS creation, you are condemning him. Think about that the next time you try to rant about how the Bible says it is wrong...God created them...not to do harm to you, but to love, which is something I don't think you are capable of.

      when you take the article, you should study it. It clearly points out the root causes of the problems that these folks are facing. The cause of thier problems are not persecution. It's the "mean spirited" Christians that have put these people in thier predicament. It was thier choices. I dont mean thier choice to be gay, we dont even need to go there. I mean thier choices to participate in activities that would put them at risk to reap the rewards for which they now lament. Did any one in the Christian community force anyone in the gay community to engage in sexual acts that spread the HIV virus. Remember, the article claims that AIDS and HIV are major culprits in the loss of many aging gay seniors partners. These people should be respected for being people, but not just for being gay. It is ignorant to place the blame for thier plight on another group of people who had nothing to do with thier problem.

    You know what a fact is? The Bible states that homosexuality/lesbianism is a sin and an abomination to God. There is an eternity out there and people who do things against God such as this will spend that eternity in Hell. I would hope that all men would seek out Jesus Christ as their savior and spend eternity in Heaven.

    If churches would stop trying to get rich and start telling people the truth and tell them of their sin so they could repent of them then these unfortunate people would not be in the position that they are in.

    The audacity of any human to claim that they know the word of god is outrageous. Supposedly the 'bible' was verbal for many centuries. Spoken in ancient hebrew. Then it was finally written down and translated again and again and again like the game 'telephone'. Is English your first language? How good are you at reading and fully understanding Shakespear in his original words? The 'bible', any of them, cannot be rationally quoted as proof of any theory or opinion. Believe if you will but don't think to use your beliefs as facts to support your beliefs; it's a dog chasing it's tail.

        Also what is fascinating is that you have focused soley on AIDS yet that is a very small part of the article.

        The majority part is that gay couples are denied equality in estate and tax issues, end-of-life issues and that they are discriminated against by healthcare and nursing care providers.

        Stop focusing on the AIDS, which is actually a minor issue, and start addressing the more important issues involved.

      I know what my Lord did for me. I was an adultress, fornicator, liar, killed in my heart, self righteous, and extremely judgemental and then my heart was exposed to me and I realized that I had a need for a Savior and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. I am thankful for the love that was extended to me and because of that love I am required to love others as Christ loved/s me. (All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Romans 3:23)

      I am still not perfect and will never be until I pass unto eternity but because of my personal experience I believe the Bible to be true. I will continue to seek to do my best and live my life as Chirst would have me live.

      If you do not believe in God that is your choice. I choose to believe in God. I also choose to love all people regardless of what they believe or how they live their life. And, if I meet someone who has a need that I can meet I will.

      Actually a conservative supreme court just ruled that there are limits to what type of guns you can own.

      Ther eis not valid reason for a civilian to have a fully automatic weapon or an assualt rifle.

      Common sense shows that a revolver with wad cutters (less likley to jam) or a shotgun do far more damage and do not risk having the round pass through the target and injure innocents.

    Geesh.....It is not about what the bible says or what it does not say...this article is about life...be it homosexual or not....not asking for "special rights", but having what any human being walking or dying on the face of the planet should have "EQUAL RIGHTS!" It is not about what life style is right or wrong to the believer, it is about what ALLLLLLLLLLL people have the right to have,..END OF STORY...if you pay taxes, vote and everything else in this so called "normal" world then any person no matter what their beliefs are or life style is, should have all the rights anybody should have and are entitled to. But then again, if every body were treated equal, then life would be boring.

      And gays can have children, they use surrogates, and lesbians can use artificial insemination.

      This statement came out of the News paper in the city I live in and from to of our main high schools. Sorry if the truth hurts, but I've had to look at it for 61 years. No, this is not some potty mouth little boy who has a decal of a little boy pissing in his truck window to assert his man hood, and yes I was in the army and yes things do go on in the army. If what I'm saying is a threat, well I'm Sorry about that, but I've had to live in the real world for a long damn time. If the shoes fit we all have to wear. It's not so nice to have those close to you conform to an image shoved into a box, Are there young people are incredible and great? Yes and hate to tell you that some of them of them may even be gay. Are some like I mentioned before? Yes they are. Try reading some health issues going on in our public high schools. Ask a few doctors.

    Gosh, you people take things to personally. These are "comments", like them or not. You can have "enlightenment" or whatever new age thing you think makes you wise, but the fact is that the wisdom of man is foolishness to God. A gay can not be a true Christian. You can not remove from the Bible what you don't like or try to interpret in a way to fit your lifestyle. Revelations say that any one that adds to the words of the Bible, the plagues will be added to him and any one that takes away from the words of the Bible, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and the holy city. Singing in a choir and going to church does not make you a Christian. Honoring God, accepting Jesus and living your life as he commands us does.
