The competitive marketplace of people and knowledge industries

matters only for a minuscule minority. Astrophysics???d advertise and

establish credentials of merely of India???s S&T elite -for tenured jobs in

US. It is as irrelevant to India as IT. Vaccines that could benefit the

poor languish when we pursue (scientists???) prestige and impose their (e.g.

moon) dreams on a country where a third of the world???s poor live. Where

the public sector continues to thrive, claims of utility are misleading.

If (moon) resource mapping did hold promise, rich countries wouldn???t be

beaten while standing still. Such missions are promoted by the

irresponsible and should be cause for worry.

In Canada, half of all aerospace engineering graduates are Chinese, in the US, Chinese and Indian engineers represent a disproportional share of elite academic and research institutions. The importance on education in these culture is why they will catch up a lot sooner than you think.

There is and shud not be any competition with China... India Is a democracy whether is a communist regime controlled by military. progress in a Democracy can be slow like India but comparatively its more sustainable. "Slow and Steady always wins the race" . As on date India is only abt 61yrs young and has grown exponentially, with abt 1.0 GDP in 1947 to abt 9.0GDP in 2007. India has a young body and Mind and will certainly be on top... India and China are world's two oldest and greatest civilizations and I am proud to be a citize of one of them.

Indian and Chinese space programme totaly two different from its origin to funding. but we cant deny that there is race. The main difference exist only who runs the programme where the Indian programme entirly controle and excuted by civilian body, where as in China its diffferent case.

Funding the amount of money China put in Space programme well above the Indian counterpart.

The reporter has very petty mind in reporting about China. He/she is trying to show the strategic vision. But this statement of China competing with India is utterly nonsense. China is just trying to develop herself and improve people's life. If China had been occupied herself with competing with India, it would have never gotten this far. With the western ideology influence, the reporter just does not understand and know how to describe what have happend in China.
