After using every PC version from CP/M, DOS v.1, Windows V.1, OS/2, etc. since the late 1970s and early 1980s and have been a support technician and now manager, I finally gave up on Windows two years ago and bought all Macs for my home use. My iMac, MacBook and iPhone all work, they work well and reliably. Now computing is fun and productive again.

    passiveprogress,
Sooo... you consider spending money on a machine that you expect to work is short sighted?!? I suppose that spending money on a machine that you have to spend more money on to fix, is forward thinking?

    Glad I bought a Mac.

I bought a Lenovo and it came loaded with Vista. It did not allow me to connect with an RJ45 to the Internet and after a half a day on the phone with tech support I sent it back. But what I was most surprised at was the Vista syhstem to shut down the machine require extra clicks. Give me a freaking break. If I have to learn how to shut this thing down I'm going to pay more and get an Apple. I will pay more for less browser freeze up's. Fewer re-boots, no virus software to dog the machine. I give up. I have been using MS DOS before OS 2.

Seinfeld would be a perfect spokesperson for...Win 95 or even Win 98 but no one and nothing can help Win Vista! You are now working on Win 7....Get it right this time! Stop adding on Microsoft's poor-quality software such as Windows Media Player 11. Hopefully, you can design WMP 12 to be the BEST. I am using a Mac running Leopard now. No more MS for me and XP works just great on it!

Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves after 5 years of production of this Vista OS. People should wake up and really think before they buy!

In the old days it was IBM (aka I've Been Mislead) that took up the middle of the road, providing "state of the art" technology built upon an antiquated punch card foundation. The corporate mantra back then was "No one ever got fired for recommending IBM." Today it is Microsoft hogging the middle of the road, unable to keep up with the times. Both companies have ruled because of huge marketing budgets, not innovation or technical finesse.
