What foreign leaders is Obama a mentor to, or even a friend of? This is just one of many reasons why McCain is far more qualified to be President than young Obama is. McCain has the knowledge of international affairs and the respect of world leaders that are essential to a successful presidency. Obama has nothing but idealism, empty rhetoric and "experience" as a "community organizer".

Foreign leaders come and go (it's usually not a permanent job). But the people stay.

Obama has the respect of the foreign people as well as their leader. The leaders have no choice but to respect Obama, or the people there will vote them out.

The problem is exactly that; MCcain can get too close and then he can't turn around. He never should have said that "Now we are all Georgian's" because that only makes them immediately believe that we would go to World War III for them. His decisions are sometimes too irrational with no thought behind them; that could get America into alot of trouble and trouble is NOT what we need more of right now!!!!

Mr. McCain has a friend who is, for all intents and purposes - counterproductive for America. He does not want to talk to our own allies, and sadly, does not even know where they are located.

Don't be purposefully ignorant....McCain makes mistakes speaking, every person in public does. I am sure you do as well. Just because they caught it and spun it, doesn't mean you have to go for the ride. Saying someone is not able to do a good job is like saying a physics professor is no good because he has to look up a formula to teach a class.

i consider myself a realist, & McCain/Palin scares me for sure... Our country is Broke & we have two wars, & we are picking fights w/ other nations while we owe so much money to other countries... i'm afraid we are down the path of becomming a 3rd world nation ( when we stoop to levels of not helping Americans).. our poverty level is growing ( pretty soon i expect to see commercials of little American kids to save & feed)..

Ron Paul Interview "Why are we provoking the Russians?" - 08/28/2008

  • Posted By: marishkafreder @ 09/22/2008 4:38:02 PM

Jurgen08 if it takes 5 weeks for Georgean president to find out facts from Georgian intelligence I am sorry for Georgia:)) seems like Saakashvilli doesn't know what kind of lie to make next:)

"The Russians were right; we're wrong," Rep. Dana Rohrabacher said this week at a hearing of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.

"The Georgians started it; the Russians ended it," he said.

Rohrabacher claimed that unidentified intelligence sources had assured him that Georgia started the fighting that began Aug. 7 when Georgia's military tried to re-establish control over its breakaway, pro-Russian province of South Ossetia.

Russia joined the battle, brutally repelled the Georgian offensive and then pushed deep into Georgia proper, where many of its forces remain nearly a month after the battle ended. Not Rohrabacher. "The Georgians broke the truce, not the Russians, and no amount of talk of provocation and all this other stuff can alter that fact," he said.

That is a quote from McCain's website. I guess that's his entire plan to help Social Security. He is just not ready for such a job.

Russians went to Georgia early morning on August 7 and started burning and bombing Georgian populated villages. Georgian president tried to call the Russian president duo (Putin and mini-Putin) and their defense (actually it should be called OFFENSE) minister but they did not answer. Then he called Russian foreign minister, who said that he did not have any idea about the bombings. Georgian president found out further details from Georgian intelligence that these forces were indeed Russian Special Forces (that conducted brutal military operation in Chechnya and which killed over 200,000 civilian Chechens there during the two wars). Well, country was under a heavy military attack and Georgian forces entered the region to defend its own territory from invaders. Actually, if you are interested in these issues, second evidence will be released soon.

This is why liberals just don't get it. Any tough stance is sabre-rattling. If Georgia were a part of Nato, Russia wouldn't have dared to invade. McCain reads from the book of Teddy Roosevelt, just like every successful president in history. The best foreign policy is where America "talks softly but with a big stick."

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/22/2008 2:58:24 PM

Just how big is that stick if we're already engaged in two wars?

    • Posted By: USS Augusta @ 09/21/2008 9:42:14 PM

I'm not outright disagreeing with you...but I'm not sure that NATO membership for Georgia would have deterred Russian aggression. After all, the modern "big stick" is a nuclear warhead. Russia's going to have to do a lot more than invade Georgia before any remotely sane leader risks open conflict.

  • Posted By: Vartan @ 09/22/2008 2:46:59 PM

This is a complete lie, yah, "some advisors" my rear end. McCain should continue loving Misha and Victor, and hating the psycopath Putin and his dark system - Russia Inc. McCain is committed to the energy price reduction and he should do it as soon as he becomes president or the two-headed Evil Empire will use its force everywhere where our interest are. John will win, Misha will win, Victor will win, Putin will go on trial, Medvedev next to him! Go for it

  • Posted By: IrritatedAmerican @ 09/22/2008 1:26:03 PM

We cannot afford this " pick up you gun and let's go hang um attitude". This is a dangerous bond that could lead us into yet another conflict.
You know it's easy to send people into war, especially when it's not you kids. -- Posted By: jassakchristine@yahoo.com @ 09/22/2008 9:33:50 AM

Especially when it is not your kid! Are you kidding me? I can see why you would say this and think this about George W Bush, but John McCain! Did you forget he has one son in the marines and another in the naval academy. While I do not care for Sarah Palin, she has a son deploying for Iraq soon. I think both these people know what it is like to have children over there.

My brother is over there serving his second tour and it pains me to think of the worst happening to him...but it's people like you who make stupid comments like this that really piss me off. I hate war, but before you pounce on the blame game and blame a man, who does have faults just as Obama has faults, perhaps you should choose you words better. He is the parent of a soldier, and he has been a soldier, many of you whiners have not been and do not even understand the sacrifices of being in a military family. All you want to do is play the peace card..pretend there are not real threats out there and bury you head in the peace sandbar. Diplomacy is the most important thing.,,McCain is more than just a soldier, he has numerous foreign relations, but he also has the backbone to do something if all else fails...Does Obama really have that?

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/22/2008 2:30:40 PM

Doesn't this statement worry you : "... neither he nor his advisers are interested in getting the Russian side of the story." If you value diplomacy as much as you state that you do, McCain's approach here is dangerously one-sided and undiplomatic. We're talking about Russia, a nuclear-armed, not- too-long ago superpower.

OSCE report points finger at Georgia for S. Ossetia crisis

GENEVA (AP) ??? A prominent human rights group says Georgia has admitted dropping cluster bombs in its military offensive to assert control over the restive province of South Ossetia.
Human Rights Watch says it has received an official letter from Georgia's Defense Ministry that acknowledges use of the M85 cluster munition near the Roki tunnel that connects South Ossetia with Russia.
The M85 is the same weapon that was used extensively by Israel in its 2006 war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
HRW arms division researcher Bonnie Docherty told reporters in Geneva on Monday that Russia undoubtedly used cluster munition in several places during the conflict. However, Russia has denied using the weapon. http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/001200809012069.htm

In rare American comment, ambassador to Moscow describes Kremlin's first military response as justified after Russian troops came under attack.
"Now we see Russian forces, which responded to attacks on Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia, legitimately, we see those forces now having advanced on to the soil of Georgia; Georgian territorial integrity is in question here," Beyrle told the newspaper.

He said Washington had not sanctioned Georgia's initial actions when on August 8, after a succession of tense skirmishes, Georgian forces attacked South Ossetia, triggering a massive Russian reaction when its peacekeepers there came under fire. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3586256,00.html

    THURSDAY 7 AUGUST
Georgian forces and separatists in South Ossetia agree to observe a ceasefire and hold Russian-mediated talks to end their long-simmering conflict.
Hours later, Georgian forces launch a surprise attack, sending a large force against the breakaway province and reaching the capital Tskhinvali.

CNN blamed for using misleading war video
American broadcaster CNN has been accused of using the wrong pictures in their coverage of the conflict in South Ossetia. A Russian cameraman says footage of wrecked tanks and ruined buildings, which was purported to have been filmed in the town of Gori, in fact showed the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali.
Gori was said to be about to fall under the control of the Russian army but the cameraman says the video was actually shot in Tskhinvali, which had been flattened by Georgian shelling.

Aleksandr Zhukov, from the Russiya Al-Yaum channel, said: ???When we arrived and news came that Gori was being shelled, I saw my footage. I said: that???s not Gori! That???s Tskhinvali. Having crawled through the length and breadth of Tskhinvali, I don???t need much to tell from which point this or that footage was recorded. I can swear in front of any tribunal. I can point at this location on the map of the town, because I and the cameraman of the Rossiya channel videotaped that.??? http://www.russiatoday.com/news/news/28880

Sky New lies giving ruins of South Ossetian capital, Tskhinvali, for Georgia???s key town of Gori, which they say Russian bombed.
Russia ???s TV channel Zvezda, which has five camera crews working in Tskhinvali, aired the same footage two days before, on Monday. Sky News showed its report with no sound, whereas the people showed in the Russian report could be heard speaking Russian and Ossetian languages. The crying people shown in the report were heard cursing Georgian President Saakashvili for destructions and manslaughter.

There have been many references to John McCain class rank at Annapolis.

At least John McCain did not break the Annapolis honor code. The Honor code at Annapolis parallels the Air Force Academy Honor Code which state we will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does. Cheating scandals have occurred at the Air Force Academy in 1965, 1967, 1972, 1984, 2004 and 2007. In 1965, 1 hundred and nine cadets were expelled from the Air Force Academy for their involvement in cheating. There have also been numerous cheating scandals at West Point and Annapolis which has resulted in permanent expulsion of those involved. One could argue that if John McCain broke the honor code he might have had a higher class rank. The military academies treat cheating scandals similar to law enforcement academies. A military officer can order troops into battle and their integrity should be above reproach when they placing their men in harms way. Similarly the testimony of a law enforcement officer can send someone away to prison for thirty years or even result in a death sentence so no cheating during academic training can be tolerated. The word and integrity of all federal, state, and local law enforcement officers can not be even remotely questioned. The City of Irving Texas recently fired over half of a recent police academy training class because there was organized cheating. So whether in law enforcement or the military, cheating can not be tolerated. As President, John McCain will be commander in chief and Sarah Palin can also step into that role and both can say that they were never involved in a cheating incident and their command to go to battle will not be questioned. It has been reported that Joe Biden had to repeat his first year law school legal research and writing class because there were questions regarding plagiarism. In the military academies or law enforcement academies there would not have been a second chance for Joe.
