    The Bush Depression

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide the largest morgage bank in the world,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms. Also, Fanny and Freddy Mae which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash and we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before.

McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.

Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He either didn't care or didn't realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime.
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a tanking economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit.Bush created a national debt larger then the first 42 presidents combined
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why isnt obama 25 points ahead

The chairman of McCains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues they vote on a personality composite. Which means he is trying to sell you personality instead of results.

Let's teach him we are smarter than that .

31 states are voting now, dont wait
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

Please forward to Mayor Bloomberg. Dear Mayor Bloomberg, I agree that smoking is a serious health problem that needs to be addressed. However, in the interests of accuracy, I wish to point out that there is probably not one single recorded case of anyone ever dying from smoking. They die from illnesses related to smoking. That being the case, the statistics you cite are meaningless. The argument could be made that any smoker who dies was a victim of smoking. But let's be accurate in our reporting. Comparison between nazism and anti-tobacco campaings nowadays is an old fashion way that has been used by tobacco industries' fight to preserve their business.

In our information saturated world your readers count on you to do some sifting before you do your reporting. It is simply not helpful to be confronted within a couple of pages (in the same feature) to two such widely differing assertions as "Tobacco has become the world's leading cause of death" taking "roughly 14,000 people every single day" and "every day 50,00 (people) starve to death." It smacks of irresponsible journalism to dish out such incongrous data with no explanation or evaluation. You lose the trust of your readers. Credibility once lost is incredibly difficult to regain.

In our information sturated society most of your readers are counting on you to help us sort through the facts. It smacks of blatant irresponsibility that on one page you would let it be said that "tobacco has become the world's leading cause of death" responsible for "roughly 14,000 deaths every single day" and then just pages later report the "everyday 50,000 starve to death." It is simply not helpful to be given such widely differing data with no explanation or analysis. Credibility once lost is incredibly hard to regain.

Interesting facts - tobacco is illegal drug, based on the fact that it is illegal to poison people, no matter how slowly you do it. Unlike alcohol and other drugs, tobacco is addictive, defective and lethal, when USED AS INTENDED! 90% of alcoholics are smokers, 90% of crime is commited by smokers/ex-smokers, 90% of suicides are commited/attempted by smokers. Tobacco should be outlawed, pure and simple.

Yeah, smokers all live to ripe old ages, except for a few billion over the last few years; those have included:
George Harrison of the Beatles died of throat cancer at age 57.
Bob Marley died of lung cancer at age 36.
Lon Chaney died of lung cancer and throat cancer at age 47.
Jacqueline Kenney Onassis, who hid her smoking, died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma at age 64.
Patrick Kennedy (son of JFK and Jackie) was born prematurely and died after 2 days. His death was attributed to his mom???s smoking during pregnancy.
Kiel Martin of Hill Street Blues died of lung cancer at age 46.
The two co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous (Bill Wilson and Bob Smith) both died of lung cancer at ages 75 and 71 respectively
Lorraine Hansberry, famous black author of ???A Raisin in the Sun,??? died of lung cancer at age 34.
Morton Downey Jr. died of lung cancer at age 67.
Graham Chapman, Monty Python comic, died of throat cancer at age 48.
Eric Carr (Paul Caravello), the drummer for Kiss, died of lung cancer at age 41.
William Talman, lawyer on Perry Mason, died of lung cancer at age 51.

"Of course, the skeptics say that the problem of tobacco use is too culturally entrenched to solve." Huh? Only 12-15% of Americans still smoke. That's most certainly a minority (and numerous studies say that 90% of those addicts want to quit.) One thing that was not addressed in this story is that smoking is a mental illness; smokers are brain damaged. That's how tobacco addiction works. And the way to prevent smoking and other uses of the tobacco drug is to BAN TOBACCO and PROSECUTE THE PUSHERS FOR MURDER AND GENOCIDE OF THE HUMAN RACE! Accessories to the crime of pushing the tobacco drug include NEWSWEEK, a publication that has been one of the biggest tobacco whores around, taking millions in tobacco ads over decades.

All this about smoking what about all the pollutants in my lungs from walking outside in a metropolitan area. All these complaints about cigarettes but it's ok to drive an SUV to the store that's within walking distance for a soda.... There really are more important things that should be looked at in the so called "News" these days.

Watch a NY sporting event, you will see smoking kills adds in between alcohol is the answer and don't forget to place a bet on the lottery commercials. Sorry, I don't get it. Drinking can kill you and others in one bad day, so that is good? Bankrupt your family with your gambling habit but please don't smoke. Smoking could kill you or those around you if you just wait 50 to 80 years
