    Dear Mr. Harris,
It is not often that I agree with you, but this article is right on the mark. I am a Christian and I am terrified that this woman might become president some time soon. Wasn't it Bertrand Russell, someone else I don't often find myself agreeing with, who famously said:
"The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt."
Would that we could get beyond our mutual namecalling and start appreciating intelligence as a real asset instead of a liability.

    A Cemetery in the Closet
Inspired by Dr. Seuss???s Green Eggs and Ham

    Barack and Biden

    Biden and Barack

    That Barack-and- Biden!
    That Barack-and- Biden!
I do not like that Barack-and-Biden!

    ???Do you like
    closets to hide in????

I do not like them, Barack-and-Biden.
    I do not like
    Closets to hide in.

    ???Would you trust us
    here or there????

    I would not trust you
    here or there.
I would not trust you anywhere.
    I do not like
    closets to hide in.
I do not like them, Barack-and-Biden.

???Would you like a racist preacher?
    Or a terrorist for teacher????

    I would not like
    a racist preacher
    or a terrorist
    for teacher.
    I do not trust you
    here or there.
    I do not trust you
    anywhere.
    I do not like
    closets to hide in.
    I do not like them,
    Barack-and-Biden.

    ???Would you let us
    steal and lie?
    Let Fannie Mae
    dip in your pie????

    Not with a lie.
    Not in my pie.
    Not racist preacher.
    Not terrorist teacher.
    I would not trust you
    here or there.
I would not trust you anywhere.
With all the closets you two hide in,
I would not vote Barack-and ???Biden.

    Dear Mr. Harris,
In rebuttal to your commentary in Newsweek, I have several sanctions to address. First let me congratulate you on your awards. I do not agree with many things you say, but as a poet, I appreciate your open expression. However, when attacking Sarah Palin and her beliefs, are you not going against the very thing you are fighting for? Are you not violating your own ethics, to refuse participation in any form of organized religion without repercussion or emotional disregard from another party? I found the article to be biased, pompous, and full of self-idealistic conflict. Why not simply say you disagree with the woman? Has she attacked your views? Has she taken a swing at your lack of faith in God? I found nothing in regards of her faith encroaching your freedom of religion. By supporting the Obama campaign, you are supporting a man who is unsure of what he believes in. You are clearly unsettled by Palin???s eagerness to share her faith, the fact that you are certain of what you believe, and that she is, too, should at least give you some common ground with her. Obama is not certain what he believes in. I could not imagine someone leading this nation who cannot even decide what he believes in. Christianity, Muslim, or atheist, at least these factions offer a solid view, and/or doctrine of why and what they believe in. Obama does not. And all of the foreign policies and tax breaks he can fathom and express in the senate mean little to nothing if he is indeed a man without belief. Sarah Palin when clearly she has only offered the country???s inhabitants a view of who she is and what she believes in.
This is not Hollywood. No one is going to step into office and reign fire and brimstone upon your head. And yet, every time a People magazine is opened, there is Obama pictured along side Hollywood personas. That is far more frightening than anything Palin could offer an atheist caught in his own insecurities. Obama has many supporters in the media, as well as the Hollywood circuit. And I want a president and vice-president who can handle real life. I fear for our nation. If Obama is elected, who will make the decisions for him?
This is America. Black and white. Red and yellow. Are Christians supposed to call you, write you and harass you? No. Are Christians supposed to slander you and defame you? No. What I have is a relationship. Not a religion. God handles the judging, not me; not true Christians. Christians are called to love and serve, and according to the Epistles, judge and correct only those within that circle of truth. What I want to clarify is this: you and the McCain-Palin ticket focus on your solid belief, or lack thereof. Wouldn???t you rather place your trust in someone who stands by what they say, just as you stand by what you say? Radical, liberal, and conservative- we all deserve to be treated fairly according to this nation???s constitution.
    Best regards,

Mr. Harris, this is the best article I have read on Palin. Great job just stating the facts. I don't know whether her religious beliefs play into her self-righteous ways or if it's just her low self-esteem. Yes, low self-esteem, b/c if she is as confident at she pretends when she stands up and puts down people and mocks people because she sees them different than herself, what else can it be called. She doesn't have to mock people to have different point of view or opinion. She is intimadated by educated people and she seeks to make herself look better than them or she seeks to make them look bad in order to make herself look better. If she were confident in her wisdom she wouldn't let McCain and his people make a fool of her by treating her like she doesn't have a brain in her head, although from some of her interviews there was that question. Look she is what she is...a scary, sarcastic, over-confident about the things she doesn't know and very lacking of the thngs she does know. It's okay to be eduated. Even better to be well educated if you want to be the one responsible for the lives of millions of Americans. What's so hard about that. Why don't the Sarah supporters get that it's fine for Sarah to be Gov Sarah if you will, but honestly, HONESTLY, with your kids lives at stake, man kind as we know it, HONESTLY, will you be able to go to bed and sleep at nite knowing that she's the one in the white house making the decisions, HONESTLY, is it okay that you put your children's lives in her hands, HONESTLY, when you search deep down within yourself and forget the Dem/Rep bs, is it REALLY okay..HONESTLY? No, it's not. It's HONESTLY scary thinking she can sarcasm her way through everything and when she fails turns the tables and blames the person asking the questions when HONESTLY just answer them if you can and if you can't SAY SO!

"Not all Democrats agree with Mr. Frank that such policies are off-limits to criticism. Last week Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in a statement: 'Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership, when in retrospect, I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong.'

"Mr. Davis is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus."

    'Rank snobbery'

Camille Paglia, who supports Sen. Barack Obama, has nothing but scorn for the way the media has treated Sarah Palin.

"The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses," Miss Paglia writes at www.salon.com.

"The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality."

Barack Obama Never Organized with ACORN. Discredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN. FACT: Senator Obama was never an ACORN community organizer. FACT: Senator Obama was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity. FACT: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack Obama ran in 1992. In his capacity as a law firm attorney, Obama represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called ???Motor Voter,??? Obamareceived the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush???s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Barack and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.

Sam, I do kind of wish you and Bill Maher would keep your religious views out of politics -- maybe that way we can get the Pentacostals, and Evangelicals, and the Catholics, and the Jews, and the Methodists, and the Muslims, and the Hindus, and the Scientologists, and the agnostics, and the Mormans, and the Jews for Jesus to do the same. My faith is very strong, I don't particualrly appreciate anyone mocking religion and faith in general, and I don't think anyone's individual religious interpretations have any role in our governement -- unless of course we want EVERYONE's interpretations of all the religions represented in our great country to be part of the decisionmaking process. what a lovely mess that would be. Separation of church and state protects all of us in our ability to worship in accordance with our conscience, and ensures that no one interpetation of scripture will be dictated by one religious sect to all the others. That doesn't mean that government has to be hostile to religion or to religious organizations and the vast majority of people oppose Palin oppose her because she is ignorant, arrogant, and so meglomaniacally egotistical that she actually thinks she not only can do this job but she wants to be even more independent and powerful than Cheney. She is a classic narcissit, and unfortunately like all narcissists her self-conceit is impenetrable. She's dangerous. That has little to do with her faith. The fact that she is a member of an extremist church that says that all Jews, as well as everybody who voted for Kerry, is going to hell, and that she allowed witchcraft to be practiced on her in that church, is really a drop in the bucket compared to her classic narcissistic belief that she is always right, no matter what she might decide.

When the media did everything from get yet another Democratic supporter like Tom Brokaw to "hand pick the questions from the audience of "undecieded voters" in phony townhall style setting of course Obama was going to look competent. That's the only way he could.

Everyone knows or should know that McCain has not only been doing townhalls all over the country this whole time even when Obama refused to do any when invited by McCain "several times" the media had to move "heaven and earth" to make sure that this debate was fool proof. And Obama was the Fool!

The only feed back I got out of this last debate was that Obama is going to tax us to death like his poor constituents in IL with high sales and gas taxes. And when he raises capital gains on companies everyone will be on Welfare because all of the compaines will leave US and leave us with even fewer jobs.

He wants everyone to be poor. That way we will all be "the same" and the liberal media is none to happy to help. And stop thinking about how this is going to hurt the rich. The rich are already covering their hides. The second it gets too hot....Their Gone! And I mean out of the Country gone. And dont think you can move out of the country either because the rest of the world hates us more than any Republican could.

But no worries b/c Obama will lose b/c all across this country states are relizing what ACORN under the Obama campaign is doing (10 states and counting investigating them for voter fraud) and Obama will not only ruin his life but also drag down the entire Democratic party. This is going to bad. Call your state reps and Attorney Generals. Keep it Going for America!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally Good news! You cant stop the truth!

After much protesting - Hulu.com brought back the Saturday Night Live Congress Bailout skit back. CHECK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go again the liberal media loves to pick on the Christian. You would rather have a person who hates America & it's ideal as President. I want someone as president who represents what Americans are suppose to be, not some Socialist called Democrat thinks. When the going gets tough I'll side with the Muslim nations and this is who you want as president?.......Hello you fools who think that Democrat supports America. He doesn't even pledge allegiant to our Flag. What happens if the Democrat Pres & VP die in office, do you really think Pelosi has any clue about anything? I will take McCann over the Anti American Democrat any day of the week. It's better then an Anti-American Socialist called Democrat. First all Presidents have a cabinet where decisions are made. The President weighs the issues from the cabinet, who are the experts, and makes a decision. Do you think Reagan had all the answers? And look what he did. The Democrat candidate has the Fanny & Freddie execs on his advisory board.....They can't be too smart can they. Why do you liberal media think like you do......Democrats can no wrong and the Republican can't do anything right? The Clinton era created the de-regulations so people who couldn't afford a home where able to get homes.. And the Democratic controlled Congress & Senate reinforce these absurd regulations. Hey lets blame Bush???.You Idiots. Why don???t you think before you start blaming people.

Sam Harris is a brilliant writer, and put in to sharper focus the reasons why a President Palin would be a global disaster, and likely result in real End Times. I wis I could thank him for his intelligence and directness on born again Christians. The only point he missed was this: Fundamentalists think they have the Only Real avenue to God. In this, they have forgotten that Jesus himself was all inclusive and all forgiving. Palins type of Christainity is not only full of scary and stupid people, it's full of judgmental zealots who would bitterly disappoint the open-minded and loving Jesus, if he were here today. Too bad they're all too ignorant to even understand this. Lord help us if McCain and Palin are elected by such a dumbed down America, because it could very well be the death of us all.

Mr. Harris is entitled to his elitist, atheist opinion. Our government, however, is not "of the elite, by the elite, for the elite". I may be a backwoods, religious, no-name, but I agree with Gerson. Spare rib or no spare rib, I believe that the PEOPLE of this nation, under God, shall elect McCain / Palin, and shall not perish from it.

"The point to be lamented is not that Sarah Palin comes from outside Washington, or that she has glimpsed so little of the earth's surface (she didn't have a passport until last year), or that she's never met a foreign head of state. The point is that she comes to us, seeking the second most important job in the world, without any intellectual training relevant to the challenges and responsibilities that await her. There is nothing to suggest that she even sees a role for careful analysis or a deep understanding of world events when it comes to deciding the fate of a nation" I'm sorry were we talking about Sarah Palan here (the Vp cadidate) or Obama ( the one actually running for President)

Is it possible that our country will ignore the serious concerns Sam Harris mentioned and elect a potential president who has spent her years on earth learning things other than needed as a leader of a great country?

    The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

Sarah Palin is a fraud. She was pregnant before she got married, has had an affair with one of her husband's friends, her 19 year old son is rumored to have serious drug problems, her 17 year old unwed daughter is pregnant, and she has used her political power to get even with people who disagree with her, yet all she talks about is being a "good Christian" and doing God's will. As a Christian she is a hypocrite who can not walk her talk, and as a politician she is completely unqualified to be Vice President. Her interview with Katie Couric showed her to be a woman with a disorganzied mind, a woman who is in over her head, utterly unprepared for the twist her fate has taken.

Even committed Republicans who support McCain have to ask themselves if they really would take the risk of putting our country into Palin's hands. Sure, being VP doesn't necessarily take a lot of skills, but being President requires great intelligence and a clear-eyed world view, one untainted by religious fanaticism. Look at the mess we got with the under qualified Dubya, and even he seems smarter and less fanatical than Palin. McCain is 72 years old, with high cholesterol and high blood pressure; his father and grandfather each died of heart attacks at age 72. McCain's Vice President HAS to be ready to lead. And by lead, I am not referring to a full speed charge into Armageddon.

For those of you who don't know, Palin belongs to a fundamentalist church that believes the end of the world is near: that war, financial distress and famine will kill off the sinful non-believers, and that when this holocaust occurs all good Christians will be taking refuge in Alaska. Furthermore, her church conducts witch hunts -- they actually use prayer to locate "witches" in their community, then publicly brand them as witches, and hold them responsible for everything that goes wrong in town. (Honestly, I think the long winters must be getting to their minds.) You can go on YouTube and watch videos of Palin participating during sermons like this. She stands on the altar facing the members. The congregation stands with outstretched hands, trancelike, speaking in tounges while the priest prays to "keep Sarah safe from all forms of witchcraft."

Could you REALLY feel comfortable knowing that a woman who holds these beliefs would have the power to declare war and deploy nuclear missles?

I continue to hear about how this or that candidate (especially Sarah Palin) will "push the button" and destroy us all in a nuclear holocaust because of their "crazy" belief system. No President singlehandedly has the ability to launch a nuclear attack of any sort because of the myriad of failsafes in place.

Harris hit the bull's eye dead on with this critical review of Palin - almost as good as SNL! I only take issue that women in general might find something to admire in her. Not so to this woman. Thousands of women are doing what she has done - raising a family, holding down a job, dealing with teens in trouble - many are doing all that without the family/husband support she has. Was she too busy governing the state of Alaska, making sure the population of wolves was reduced by aerial hunting and killing to miss that she had a teen daughter needing a mother's loving attention, advice and maybe even admonition about having unprotected sex? She doesn't want schools to educate about sex presumably because it's the parent's job......... And pul-lease don't even put the word president in front of her name as a vague possibility - it gives me the willies.
