Newsweek is trash. It's insulting and offensive - and it DOES NOT represent the majority of this country, but the minority of liberal leftists who continue to attack what is good, and elevate to high standards what is evil.

Damn, with all that Harvardness you'd think he'd have some ideas on his own without having to read somebody else's from a teleprompter. http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/gGg42R
    Muslim Men= Smart!
    Christian Women= Stupid!

That was a Rep standard post. Good to see you can't find any new material. How about that Palin VP choice? Now there's news. Since, according to you guys Mr. Obama hates every one but Muslims, you should be comfortable in the knowledge that the lie didn't work. But somehow you're not.

It is sad that what was once a fine objective magazine has tilted so far to the left it has become just another liberal rag, which I will no longer subscribe to!

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 09/23/2008 11:30:40 AM

No one is going to make you post either.

  • Posted By: A Difference @ 09/22/2008 5:21:59 PM

It's humorous to read liberals lament Sarah Palin's lack of credentials even as they prepare to try and elect a "community organizer" with no executive experience, no foreign policy experience, no legislative or reform accomplishments, and noted criminal ties to the American Presidency simply because he is a liberal.

    • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 09/22/2008 6:42:07 PM

Yep Obama is a JOKE. It pissed Liberals off when we say this because DEEP IN THEIR HEARTS they agree with us and KNOW! Democrats are MORONS who left to their own devices will destroy America.

      • Posted By: tjones1942 @ 09/22/2008 7:42:42 PM

Obama worked for everything he has in this life. You are a creep of Republican. Why don't you stop wasting my time and go do something productive. What an idiot.

        • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 09/23/2008 11:26:53 AM

He didn't work for everything! He STOLE the Illinois Senate seat from his friend and mentor. VERY SHADY and totally dishonorable !

Thank you for this erudite article. You echo many of my sentiments and fears regarding this woman and the power position that may befall her.

Harris reported people who say,"I'm voting for her because she's a mom" How is that different than "I'm voting for Obama because he is black"?
Harris reported "things Palin thinks she knows but doesn't, like her conviction that the Biblical God consciously directs world events". At least he acknowledges that many hold to a belief in a personal and almighty God but on what does he base the statement (what she doesn't know... about God) and how does he know about God's involvement in the world. Sounds more like an opinion based on his presuppositions.
Harris reported "Bush...consulted a 'higher Father'...signs of incompetence". Is that his (Harris') test for incompetence or perhaps Harris is incapable of hearing God speak through the order of the universe, the Bible, or others with faith.
Seems that Harris only has an ax to grind and is so anxious to criticize that he forgets the inconsistencies and inexperience of Obama to be even partly objective.

Oops, double post and doubley in error, that's:

They (Pentecostals) are as fringe as the Phelpsians

  • Posted By: William R @ 09/23/2008 10:46:49 AM

Thank you Sam Harris! When I see a Pentecostal running for any office I have to shiver. They are as fringe and the Phelpsians. This country and the globe for that matter are doomed to self destruct as long as the religious are allowed to wield power in our political and social discourse and as long as "faith" is not evaluated as a neurosis but instead given carte blanche as truth (no matter whose book you're using at the time) with no burden of proof. The sun is green I say, the sun is green and so you must obey me!

If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

  • Posted By: GregAugustaGA @ 09/23/2008 8:26:12 AM

Nice try Sam. Can we forget those who will vote for Obama ONLY because he is black? Can we not counter with his meager resume and lack of executive experience? Besides running for office, managed by Ploeff and Axelrod NOT Obama himself, what has he accomplished? Again, nice try but execpt for showing your partisanship and bias, you failed miserably.

    • Posted By: benkrapf @ 09/23/2008 9:46:33 AM

Partisanship and bias? In political media? Say it ain't so!

FYI, when asked, Democrats talk about Obama's stance on the issues and not his skin color. Why is it that so many Republicans gravitate toward judging thus?

      • Posted By: GregAugustaGA @ 09/23/2008 10:42:52 AM

Maybe because "others" talk religion, age, sexism, etc. Can you deny those who will vote for him ONLY because of race? I am a Democrat who just doesn't like Obama on the issues. Race plays no part. But, for some reason people just can't seem to believe that just like my Republican friends couldn't "get it" that I was a Democrat and supported Bill Clinton, among others. I simply found this article totally biased and frankly disgraceful. This is America where anyone is feee to practice whatever religion they choose.

Obama looking forward to his role as Commander in Chief. "I look forward to being Commander in Chief," said the candidate today.

  • Posted By: billyz @ 09/23/2008 1:15:18 AM

That's not the issue. Who would you choose to sit opposite Vladimir Putin? Sarah Palin or Joe Biden? I hear Joe Biden is a nice guy, but with him sticking his foot in his mouth every hour, I would certainly choose Sarah Palin. How about Sarah Palin vs. Barak Obama? I still would choose her, not because she' a mom or a Christian or pretty, or any of the other superficial things you mention. Obama and Palin have the same amount of foreign experience. The only experience Obama has was putting on a good show in Germany. They are pretty much equal in that respect. I'd choose her because, she believes in the product. That is the United States. Obama wants us to be more like Europe or China. "Did you see what China did, build all that infrastructure" Never mind that they shut down the internet or that thousands of Chinese babies are sick from tainted milk or that thousands died in an earthquake from faulty construction, they put on a spectacular show. That???s what Obama is all about, the show. Sarah Palin at least has an upbeat positive view of the United States, rather than thinking it is a mean spirited place that has to become more like Europe. I???d rather have a person who goes to a church that says ???God bless America??? rather than a church that say ???God Damn America???

    • Posted By: dark.energy363 @ 09/23/2008 10:38:52 AM

Oh, and BTW, Palin does have foreign policy experience; I mean she can see Russia from her house. What more do we need, god will take care of the rest. Praise the lord and pass the ammo. Scary.

    • Posted By: yourwinter @ 09/23/2008 1:37:48 AM

I am amazed that people can be as dumb as you. Please tell me you don't vote. Or drive. Or have children who depend on you...

Really? A qualification for VP is that her church says God Bless America. So does every drunk fan at baseball games. Are they qualified, too?

This rant is sadly a comment on the degree to which "journalism" at Newsweek has fallen.

I would have expected something like this to be printed in Rolling Stone or some other light-weight, far left rag that doesn't really require the writers to adhere to any kind of journalistic standards...like sticking to facts instead of spending 90%of the article discussing what the writer thinks Mrs. Palin beliefs are.

Without rehashing this long diatribe, better to encourage anyone reading it to apply the same standards of necessary experience to the top of the Democrat ticket--Barrack Obama. Remember, he--not Palin--thought there were 57 states in the union.

Why worry about a Republican VP candidate's experience at geopolitics if the Democrat presidential nominee hasn't even acquainted himself with the geography of the United States yet.

    To patton434:
How clearly bigotted you are. You cannot seem to be able to handle the fact that someone of colour is simply more intelligent than you are! Affirmative action, might've gotten him into Harvard as you put it(though I doubt it) but it would not put him as president of the Harvard Law review! I am a christian, but Sarah Palin scares me to death! McCain just wants to win. He does not care about the country first! Why would he flip flop on so many issues? First of all his slogan was Country First, then it changed to a message of change. He has no plans. he sees what Obama is doing and copies it. Obama had Hillary Clinton, he went to get Sarah Palin, Though there has got to be a more intelligent republican woman than her. if not the reps are in deep trouble, if the best they can come up with!!!

Obama has nobody but himself to blame for passing over Hillary. Unfortunately the consequences of his selfishness are perilous

The last paragraph of this article is so compelling, I must post it . A moment of wisdom in a tumultous time.

"I believe that with the nomination of Sarah Palin for the vice presidency, the silliness of our politics has finally put our nation at risk. The world is growing more complex???and dangerous???with each passing hour, and our position within it growing more precarious. Should she become president, Palin seems capable of enacting policies so detached from the common interests of humanity, and from empirical reality, as to unite the entire world against us. When asked why she is qualified to shoulder more responsibility than any person has held in human history, Palin cites her refusal to hesitate. "You can't blink," she told Gibson repeatedly, as though this were a primordial truth of wise governance. Let us hope that a President Palin would blink, again and again, while more thoughtful people decide the fate of civilization."

Please pray that America wakes up and smells the coffee. Country first and once again? Vote Obama-Biden 2008.

The author should have done more research on Palin. She had left the Assemblies of God for a non-denominational church a few years ago.
The elite politicians have brought the hatred down on themselves by pandering to special interests groups and outright dishonesty.

  • Posted By: 1299 @ 09/22/2008 3:14:25 PM

The article assumes alot about her religious views. It states that "Given her long affiliation with the Assemblies of God church, Palin very likely believes ..." and "You can learn something about a person by the company she keeps. In the churches where Palin has worshiped for decades..."

If one it to believe that everyone believes everything that their church (or mosques, or temple...) teaches, then you can learrn alot about the company one keeps and in the church that they have worshipped in for decades, and given their long affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church, one would assume that Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kenedy are hardcore pro-life!
