    "is it even news?"

This query raises a very important point. Seems to me the majority of "it" is pure sensationalism. Even when one of these stories is relevant, the tactics they use to get it are appalling, and now Newsweek reports that the supposedly still respectable press is considering throwing out what little integrity and professionalism they have left to wallow in the sewer of "the end justifies the means", maximum sleaze reporting. Sadly, it won't be much of a descent with the way things are these days. A free press with investigative reporting on the issues is a basis of Democracy. If anyone didn't know we were in deep doo-doo on that score already, let's hope this wakes some of them up.

It's better than the regular news media and more honest. At least it does not favor Obama over McCain like MSNBC,CNN, and CBS. Each day their knives in the back get worse and worse. Check out CNN, it is pathetic how they favor and fawn over Obama.

So called journalist seem to forget both sides of the story ,I think that is where the bias comes in . When you insert you'r own beliefs or spin thats when journalism ends .The sad thing is you really can not believe anything you read or see on tv and/or newspapers anymore. People should take the time to do some research themselves.

The problem with media such as this... Who cares? REAL people with lives don't care about all the "juicy "details about people's private lives. Only nosy trailer trash cares and judguing by the huge sales of nationl enquirer, the vast majority of americans are nothing but worthless trailer trash. OH. but that;s right, you can't even vote for presidential candidates intelligently, you vote because it's a popularity contest...in reality there is only one political party in this country- moron. People registered with no party affiliation are the last remaining bastion of intelligence in this country.

Skallywag, In general I agree with your comments about party affiliation. I'll never understand why Americans just don't vote on the issue at hand or the person they think will do a good job, instead of voting because that is how the 'party' would vote. However, I do not agree with your comments about the 'vast majority of Americans are nothing but trailer trash' based on the number of copies sold of a tabloid magazine. Did you actually do the math? The best circulation the tabloid had all year was 738,000. The population of the US is 301 million. The tabloid sold a magazine to .2% of the population. That's not 2%, that's .2%. And that was on the best week in a year. Need I say more?

This is great, because of all the party preference media (TV and newspaper to the left and Radio media to the right) that only report what benefits their parties agenda, the National Enquirer, once laughing stock of outrageuos bogus stories will end up being the source to turn to for the truth. How ironic!!

  • Posted By: mljjr @ 09/23/2008 1:03:23 PM

Why doesn't the Enquirer find the missing Obama birth Certificate and prove that he, Obama is really NOT eligiable to run for president. It is not that hard to prove the Democrats have hidden the truth from the American people by falsely nominatiing this Phony as the Democratic Nominee for President. I doubt the Enquirer has the balls to go after Obama either and find the truth one way or the other!! Well, Go For It!

  • Posted By: thedumbingofamerica @ 09/23/2008 12:56:01 PM

boy dezi45, I can see you believe everything the left wing media says. Everything is the Republicans fault. It's amazing how you and everyone else easily forgets that every Democrat voted to go to war too. Also, the last couple of years have been with an all Democratic House and Senate and things have turned for the worse with everything, but I agree with you...I can't wait for Obama to be elected! I'm tired of working and I want the government to pay for everything. Socialism is the best thing that could happen to this evil free society.

The National Enquirer has been right on the bullseye many times and it is done because PEOPLE READ IT, not because of Republicans or Democrats!!! YI. And to put ALL Republicans in with those who bend the law is so lame . I know many that are good, law abiding citizens and simply want LESS government in their lives and want to take personal responsibility; not MORE government with no personal responsibility. BTW: Republicans are not the only ones who "bend" the laws; and let us not forget Bill Clinton ( a DEMOCRAT) who tried to change the meaning of several words in the dictionary!!!! Both parties are guilty of many things, and as far as the election goes..........we will see. I'm voting for Bill Cosby.

The National Enquirer's recent articles on Jon & Kate Gosselin have been spot on. 100% truth also. I feel comfortable posting here and saying that as a former family friend, these 2 are unbelieveably unethical greedy people who have no conscience when it comes to what they're doing - selling out their children for profit. They both are jobless also. Entitlement is something they seem to write the book on. I thank the Enquirer for exposing this family for what they are. They have burned so many bridges this little karma coming out in the Enquirer is so welcomed from the "former" friends and family of Jon and Kate Gosselin.

I thought that the same editorial staff managed CNN, MSNBC and the National Enquirer. The same level of unbias, professional journalism is exhibited with all three publications.

The National Enquirer has always had more that a grain of truth to their stories. I remember when Donny Osmond, who I was acquainted with way back when, was all up in arms because The Enquirer was about to print a story all about someone he was dating, claiming they were ready to be married. He was afraid that he would lose his fans. He told some of us that the story was coming out, and it was not true. It turns out, they were right on the money. He married her a few months later. They have their sources. Just because their reputaion is not that of other magazines, does not mean they don't follow the leads. I tend to beleive them more and more.

I worked with a woman in the 70's who told me that aliens had landed on the White House lawn. I asked her where she read it and she said "The newspaper". Naturally I questioned which newspaper she read since I had not seen nor heard of such a story. When she told me The National Enquirer, I had to laugh. Here was a 50 year old woman who believed the printed word. She told me "They couldn't print it if it wasn't true!!" And the scary thing is over a millionpeople read this thing, and are allowed to vote. Might explain GWB's second term...

    • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 09/22/2008 4:48:31 PM

Key in your your story is the womans expressed belief "they " couldn't print it if it wasn't true. Sadly, many americans--even young onse__ have this assumption news week and the TV news can't print or announce anything untrue!
Dan Rather could and did lie his butt off to americans constantly, as many assumed some law or government requirement prevented that!
But there is a 1st amendment! Yup. Rather and all the rest can lie...neglect to include key information. Twist. It's legal! Done EVERY DAY and all day long!
I wouldn't laugh at that lady in the 70's who may have believed the there really is an amazing baby that can pilot an attack jet, cause there are a lot of people right now who really believe Obama is about "change!"
"They" sat so on the news!

    Ed esce quel sole....

    Ridenti accenni
    di una quiete perpetua
    fan canti d'immensa
    letizia, al morire dei
    sogni, nel mesto
    di un fiore; odo l'eterno,
    e tal pe li giunchi
    de l'amabile pace
    'l soffuso fiatar
    di una casta poesia;
    pe' canti rimembro,
    ma quando il sole
    ritorna e dimora
    nei cuori, odo lesto,
    nel cielo, della vita
    il chiarore.

Some days its hard to find the "difference" between the Hollywood Rag trash magazines and most news networks. Both run the same trash, only National Enquirer doesn't claim to be a real news source. All so called "news magazines" are owned by who else, liberal trash talking Democrates. One would have to be a moron to believe what they print on their word as truth.

Didn't the NYT's publish a story accusing John McCain of a recent affair with a lobbyest, a story based on rumors, and no supporting facts? At least with the John Edwards story the National Enquirer waited till they had facts before breaking the story. Makes you question which one is actually the tabloid.
