Gosh, its so nice to put a negative spin on the project over what might happen. Just tell me though, what happens when we don't do anything to develope our resources? Oh yah I forgot.............all our csh going to other countrys that are screwing us just like they did in the 70's & early 80's. Think bout that every month when you pay your gas bill to heat your house.

I BELIEVE THAT YOUR QUOTE ,IN THE PERSPECTIVES SECTION, OF PALIN COMMENT "PERHAPS SO" IS VERY INFAIR AND TAKEN TOTALLY OUT OF CONTEXT. I SAW THE INTERVIEW AND HER RESPONSE WAS TO THE QUESTION IF GEROGIA WAS A MEMBER OF NATO AND IF RUSSIA ATTACKED AGAIN SHOULD WE WAGE A WAR. YOUR DESTORTIONS ARE VERY UPSETTING AND DIMINISH YOUR CREDIBILITY AND REPUTATION. EVEN AS A DEMOCRAT I DO NOT RESPECT OR CONDONE THIS BEHAVIOR. I WILL NOT READ YOU MAGAZINE ANY LONGER AND YOU SHOULD BE MORE EVEN HANDED. THANK YOU SAM CONTI

If Palin becomes VP or President, will first Dude Todd, then be elgible to be vice president or president because he was maried to her? This was the argument when Hllaru was running. this made Hillary more experince then Obama. Both were fairly new senators., with no executive or military experiemce. Can Cindie McCain be qualified for president because she was married to a POW war hero? This experience argument makes about as much sense as the statementts I just made.

It seems this is another of Palin' s claim of fame, that she has articulated without giving all the facts. He disregard for the rights of other seem evident. The rumor is in Alaska , she is very disrepectfuly to minorities.
    What is the truth?

THANK YOU, Mark Hosenball, and THANK YOU, Newsweek for telling the truth.
Sarah Palin's pet project is also her pet lie. Yet she repeats the same lie over and over again. What Hosenball's article does not mention is the number of years that it will take to actually construct the pipeline. Add that time to the 7 years of legal disputes (at least) and you'll discover that it will take maybe a decade or more before any natural gas from Alaska reaches the lower 48
Abraham Lincoln said, :"You can fool some of the people most of the time, or you can fool most of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."
Palin certainly does not fool me. I'm glad more people are latching on.

As usual, a politician is more than willing to spend taxpayer dollars on a pet project that might never happen. But in the meantime I bet many of earmark sarah's friends and relatives will find a way to get a share of the five hundred million as consultants or contractors or lobbiests. The government does not need to be and should not be in the pipeline business. There is plenty of private money to finance projects like this one if it makes economic sense. If you have not noticed oil companies are making record profits. This is just another slush fund for the party in power to spend on themselves.

With all news breaking around Sarah Palin, I have a premonition the worst is yet to come. What will happen then, if it's a real bad one? Will McCain pick another running mate?

  • Posted By: Shermancrk @ 09/21/2008 10:24:27 AM

This article is typical of people wih no insite for the future. This pipeline is a pipeline to my country. It is the U.S.A. not a place called nowhere. This is an opportunity to help us be free of Islamic radical oil. Check out the price of gas. You want to pay more? Check out the price of food and any other product. You want to pay More? Go ahead stick your head in the sand and keep things under Islamic control and they will be more than happy to cut your head off without even a gasp of resistance from you.

Been wondering. Can McCain cry Errata and name another running mate? I have a premonition we ain't heard all about Palin, more to coem

I think the appropriate title of anything involving Sarah Palin is,"Pipedream to Nowhere".

She is multi-tasking to the limits. Get someone who can concentrate on the job of being the VP.

The only pipe getting laid in Alaska was the one that got her underaged daughter pregnant.

  • Posted By: MChieco @ 09/20/2008 10:50:13 PM

Sarah Palin is George Bush in drag.

At least she took the 1st step and she is currently working on follow-on steps to bring the project to fruition. Meantime her action caused the oil companies to come along and propose to build their own pipeline. And the general sense in the industry is that ultimately the 2 parties would merge their pipeline projects. So it is misleading to saythat this a Pipeline to Nowhere.

Moreover, she was so good at rattling the oil companies that a super major quickly found a rig to drill a well to keep his Alaskan lease or else lose it. At first that company threatened to sue Alaska in court rather than drill that well. That was cause for shock and awe since the company in question never backs down and takes everyone (incl. foreign goverments) to court.

And I know this as I work in the oil industry. So the person who wrote this piece is clearly trying to downplay and/or distort Gov. Sarah Palin's achievements. And they are hoping the odds are in their favor that no blogger is also an oil industry expert and/or working in the industry. How low can these people sink?

All that Transcanada (a pipeline builder) is obligated to do for $500 million of Alaskan's money is fill out the paperwork and apply to FERC for a license to build a pipeline, There is little likelihood of being granted the license because they have no gas, therefore no financing for construction, .....a real pipeline to Nowhere. andrewhalcro.com is a vault of information

  • Posted By: ukeman @ 09/20/2008 7:41:26 PM

nIthought she said she already built the pipe line? She must be from the "name it and claim it" denomination church. Maybe like "think it, done it."

Do people want to help ease our dependence on foreign oil or just help themselves to alot of money?

  • Posted By: independthinkr @ 09/20/2008 7:04:32 PM

There are always going to be people with their hands out for money. Who cares if the pipeline would help alleviate our dependence on foreign oil?
