Let's see. McCain said she had this pipeline deal done or at least that was what I was lead to believe. Don't blame the media when someone claims they have done something and you find out that it is incomplete. If you have a daughter who was a cheerleader and doesn't lie you may want to send her resume to John McCain for the VP spot. This woman is a joke.

Some people are too religious to remember the stories in their bibles. Try Adam & Eve. The one about the man and woman in the garden with the snake. McCain & Palin have chosen time and again to pick "THE APPLE OF LIES" from all the fruit available on the tree. Don't even try to blame the media. McCain has spent millions putting his lies right in front of you, just watch his ads. Adam & Eve 2008-I hope not.

I'm sure she has a stash of smallpox-ridden blankets stashed away somewhere to deal with the First Nations in true American fashion...that seems to be her modus operandi at this point. Wake up America!!! She and McCain are not simply liars, they are evil hatefilled war mongers waging a holy war!

These issues (rights of way, etc.) are common in projects such as this pipeline. What is not so common are the sensational, misleading and always anti-Palin headlines. Is this what they teach in journalism school or do they promote a sense of honesty and fairness? I sure hope so.

MCCAIN IS NOW BECOMING MORE EMBARRASSING THAN I COULD EVER HAVE IMAGINED. HE WANTS TO DELAY THE DEBATE (AND JUST SCREW THE PEOPLE IN MISS.) AND GO TO WASHINGTON AS IF AIRPLANES DON'T WORK! HE IS A BLEEPING JOKE.........AND IT'S ALL TO GET CLUELESS IN ALASKA OFF THE HOOK LONGER BECAUSE NOW HE WANTS THE VP DEBATE NEXT WEEK BOUNCED?!! FOR WHAT? IF YOU'RE SUSPENDING THE CAMPAIGN TO HAVE THIS PROPOSAL DONE BY THIS WEEKEND WTF DOES NEXT WEEK'S VP DEBATE HAS TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS SURREAL

    THE TRUTH IS THIS

    1. 650,000 PEOPLE LOST THEIR JOBS. WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR JOB, 92% OF THE TIME THE HOMEOWNER LOSES THIER HOME. THE AVERAGE HOME IS ALMOST 200,000. DO THE BASIC MATH

    2. THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT MOST PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR HOMES WERE IN THEIR HOMES FOR YEARS BEFORE THE LENDERS HARRASED THEM TO TAKE OUT EQUITY AND "LIED" ABOUT WHAT THE PAYMENT WOULD BE. ASK ALL OF THOSE ELDERLY EAST COST PEOPLE WHO MOVED TO FLORIDA TO COAST AWAY WITH THEIR HARD EARNED DOLLARS AND LENDERS CAME IN AND CONVONCED THEM TO DO THIS GARBAGE AND NOW HAVE NOTHING

    3. THEY ALSO LIED TO PEOPLE WHO GOT HOMES. PEOPLE COULD AFFORD THEIR HOMES BUT THE LENDERS MAKE MORE MONEY WHEN THE CAN GIVE YOU AN ADJUSTABLE RATE MORTGAGE RATHER THAN A FIXED RATE(EVENTHOUGH IF YOU QUALIFY FOR A A.R.M. YOU QUALIFY FOR A FIXED RATE). SO A 2 YEAR FIXED WITH A A.R.M. RATE WAS NICE UNTIL THOSE 2 YEARS WERE UP. THEY LIED TO PEOPLE'S FACES

    3. YOU CAN PUT THIS SQUARELY ON THE BACKS OF PEOPEL LIKE JOHN MCCAIN AND HIS NO.1 ECONOMIC ADVISOR PHIL GRAHAM. MCCAIN VOTED FOR THESE "DEREGULATION" LAWS AND PHIL GRAHAM "WROTE" THEM.

    4. BUSH'S TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH, MCCAIN'S NEW SUPPORT OF THEM AND THE TRICKLEDOWN THEORY(ALSO KNOWN AS "VODOO ECONOMICS" THAT BUSH SR. CALLED THEM IN RONALD REAGAN'S FACE) IS WHAT IS CAUSING THIS DISASTER. BILL CLINTON SAID IT BEST -YOU HAD A REPUBLICAN WHITEHOUSE, CONGRESS AND SUPREME COURT AT THE SAME TIME-THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEIR POLICIES ARE IMPLEMENTED.

    5. ISN'T IT HILARIOUS TO SEE THAT MENTAL MIDGET CALLED SEAN HANNITY SAY THAT HISTORY WILL BE KIND TO BUSH? 9-11, A WAR OF CHOICE, HURRICANE KATRINA, ANTI-AMERICAN SENTIMENT ABROAD, AND NOW THS BAILOUT-HISTORY WILL CALL HIM WHAT THE "F" HE IS-THE WORST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY...............UNLESS MCCAIN WINS.

Done what, didimau? Propose to run a gas pipeline for our gas through their country and not even bother to ask the land owners? Some foreign policy!

  • Posted By: DBinBend @ 09/24/2008 8:40:16 PM

    I seen Russia
    Ain't been to France
The pipeline to nowhere, I'd love to finance (with earmarks, of course...)

  • Posted By: didimau @ 09/24/2008 5:29:03 PM

............and she has at least done something whereas Barack Obama only achievement was to organize/radicalize Chicago area youths to become militant. Beautiful!

  • Posted By: Crazson34 @ 09/23/2008 8:12:12 PM

People are just afraid she's actually going to do something to help us and the Dems are scared to death. They hate that OBama dodged women and McCain chose one. GENIOUS!!! Newsweek is just another Palin basher. Unbiased reporting= A thing of the past.

      GENIOUS - Now that's genius!

    • Posted By: Earthnation1 @ 09/23/2008 8:24:17 PM

Cmon Crazon! Only the luntic fringe of either party could possibly support Palin. What's this about the press? Why is Palin not accountable? McCain asked for scrutiny when he elevated an undeserving neophyte to national prominence. We've got to know who she is - and what we've seen so far is pretty dismal. Do something? She doesn't even have enough executive smarts to do the due diligence required to see if the real estate over which she tells her contintuents she's going to build a pipeline is available. Just the kind of capable person we need handling countless matters of far more complexity. If I were a Repulican - I would hide my head in shame.

How is it that a witch hunter anointed Ms. Palin (as a God) - on TV - and it was hidden and erased from their archives? Now playing on youtube.
    A witch hunter.

My answer is NO--therefore lets dump Mcain. all the trouble we are in happened on his 8 year watch and if anyone things the US is better off now than it was 8 years ago they are suffering from terminal tunnel vision. Wachet auf!!!!!!!!!\

I agree. Forget Palin, nothing she has said has proven true. McCainis totally senile. Who would trust ter judgment of a candidate during times like this to select Palin. People its not if McCain, Palin takes over. It's if McCain becomes president, he's dangerous and doesn't have the temperment to protect us. Read George Will conservatist that may get the others to tell the truth. Republicans are scared of McCain.

Get a Life Newsweek and stop the constant bashing of Palin.

How true - Newsweak is just another Obama supporter. So what else is new. To Capricorn - why in the world would Sarah Palin "scares you to death?" What a wuss - Democrats will still control Congress. So worried about a small town librarian. Grow up.

    • Posted By: BobbyNY @ 09/24/2008 10:34:27 AM

Palin was chosen because she is an ex-beauty queen. There are a lot of other intelligent women in leadership roles (without controversy) that could have been chosen. She is not all she is cracked up to be, that will be more and more evodent as time goes by. No need to worry democrats, the symbol of male pride will soon be subdued. Governing this country is not a joke. Pam Anderson is right.

    mccainsupporter:

What does this have to do with the article?

Besides being off-topic completely, your vision and statistics are totally scewed. First off, try reading something other than wikipedia before making uninformed posts. http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/nuclear/page/nuc_reactors/reactsum.html is a good place to start. There are 104 nuclear reactors on 65 sites in the US. They provide 10% of our total capacity. You're correct, the newest construction started in 1977 but many of them weren't actually put into use intil the 90's. Current designes for reactors also get almost double the capacity and efficiency. Therefore, adding 50% more reactors would actually double the total potential output.

Using France as an example? I thought Republicans were boycotting France. After all, they're socialists and they were against the war. Come on now, you can't have it both ways.

Research? You mean like how Bush wanted to do more research on global warming? The scientific community had agreed for 20 years that it was a problem but he's not really into facts.

The reality is, nuclear power is only part of a broader solution. It is not a renewable resource and the bi-products are extremely hazardous. Look up the Fernald plant in Ohio where they didn't bother really cleaning anything and have managed to contaminate the entire area. The plant was shut down over 20 years ago and will still be a radioactive hazard for centuries to come.

I am a twenty five year old man. who has become incessantly obbsessed with politics. i grew up middle class and i grew up in urban/rural ohio. My parents always counted each others vote out. grandparents always went right. . The people i went to school with as well as my friends never showed much intrest till 2004. We always talked about politics and elections but always with anger and lack of faith. I have seen first hand the lack of faith in our system. and within the last eight months have seen more people step up and do everything they can to involve themselves. What scares me is a right wing creationist who believes dinosaurs were here five thousand years ago could be the leader of this country.

  • Posted By: cogito_ergo_sum @ 09/24/2008 12:01:43 AM

If "mccainsupporter" actually did think about it, he/she would realize that nuclear power plants use a finite resource for generating power. It's not substantially different than using oil. Eventually we will run out of acceptable nuclear fuel. In the meanwhile, the waste isn't exactly the stuff you want buried under your house. The smart move is to begin converting to truly renewable resources like solar and wind now. I guess it's standard practice for republicans to put current problems on our children's backs.

If you think about it John McCain plan for forty-five new nuclear power plants is reasonable, needed and attainable. Our current 108 nuclear power plants supply twenty (20) percent of our electricity requirements. This is amazing considering that it has been thirty years since there has been new construction on new nuclear power plants anywhere in the United States. Construction on new nuclear power plants has occurred throughout the world but not in the United States thanks to Democratic leadership. In France, nuclear power supplies 80 percent of their electricity needs. Because 108 nuclear power plants are generating twenty percent of our needs, an additional 45 nuclear power plants will only increase the percentage of nuclear power to roughly 28 percent of our needs well short of French eighty percent nuclear power generation of electricity. John McCain proposals are reasonable and will help lead us to energy independence. Democrats under the leadership of Barack Obama want to study the issue for another 30 years. By that time the only remaining United States builder of nuclear power plants General Electric will have gone the way of Westinghouse and sold its nuclear construction division to a foreign owned company Toshiba Corporation of Japan. Given the Democratic led hostile business environment for nuclear power in the United States, we will have no United States owned companies capable of building nuclear power plants.

The reality is that few nuclear power plants will have a greater contribution to our relative energy independence than all the combined contributions of solar, wind, and thermal energy. Only the proposals of John McCain on nuclear power, offshore drilling, wind, and solar energy will make the idea of a relative United States energy independence a reality.
