John McCain picked Governor Sarah Palin because he intends to follow through and make his Project Lexington for United States energy independence the dominant issue in this campaign. Governor Sarah Palin is a strong supporter of increased offshore drilling and she knows that Alaska has an offshore coastline greater than the rest of the country combined and is also comes in second among the states in oil production. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and John McCain understand that Obama and the Democrats would never consider government loan guarantees or tax breaks for a sure thing that will produce energy for the American gas tank. In fact Democrats are trying to put together a so-called windfall profits tax which will have the effect of discouraging future investment in the United States oil industry. John McCain also knows that Governor Sarah Palin family situation also illustrates that longterm Democratic leadership hostility and policies toward United States owned energy companies have caused our current energy crisis. Her husband works for British Petroleum but instead should be working for the former American owned Arco Oil Company. Arco Oil Company developed and explored the Alaska North Slope and formerly owned eighty percent of our proven Alaskan reserves. With its substantial oil reserves Arco Oil Company should have bought British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum buying out Arco Oil Company during the second Bill Clinton administration. With the right business environment and support from both political parties in the United States, Arco Oil Company might have been more successful and been able to buy out British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum buying out Arco Oil Company. Look at Apple Computer and Microsoft. Their success in the computer world have made them bullet proof to corporate takeovers. Longterm Democratic hostility and opposition to offshore drilling and periodic talk of windfall profits taxes contributed to the takeover of Arco Oil Company.

Gee whiz, if that happens, where will Pickens' and his "green weenies" be with their natural gas powered cars? I think the pipleline to nowhere goes directly to your brain! Besides, natural gas isn't the miracle we're looking for. It's barely an interim solution unless every natural gas user has a gas pump in their garage. It's true natural gas is cleaner and cheaper than gasoline. However, you can only go 1/2 the distance on the same natural gas that fits in the same space your gasoline tank takes. In addition, you've got to wonder what drivers will say when they have to give up space in their back seats to install natural gas tanks instead. If the NG sellers are required to scent their product, guess how nice your car will smell after a fill-up. Furthermore, anyone who smokes or builds up static electricity will be dangerous to themselves and others. Natural gas isn't the best way to do. Blut, we'd better do something. All population groups will have to sacrifice in order to get our energy resource policy on a good footing, ALL Americans - not just the Natives. If they value freedom, then they should be willing to sacrifice along with the rest of us. While I don't believe we should arbitrarily ignore their complaints, but they often have solutions non-natives would ever think of. Gas line to nowhere is just that if there isn't some intelligent brainstorming by us all. The "nowhere" you speak of is when our machines all grind to a halt without the energy needed to keep them running.

By systematically bashing Palin like the people (journalists?) on MSNBama, you are turning a lot a Centrist Democrats into Republican. TALK ABOUT ISSUES!!!!

    • Posted By: Earthnation1 @ 09/23/2008 8:17:23 PM

C'mon Scrottun! certainly you are not a centrist Democrat if you think that bringing out the truth about the ludicrous choice McCain made in Palin is going to turn any democrat against the Obama Biden team. Of course the press is having a field day - what's new and why should Palin be off limits? McCain asked for this bringing an unknown and untested neophyte to underserved national prominence - the govenor or a state with a population the size of a small city - awash in oil money - great choice for the American people. But hey the lowest common denominator of the American people can relate to this six pack of a choice - and with any luck on the part of the Republican party - we can lowest common denominator ourselves into the third world country W has put us well on the way to becoming.

Palin supporting taxpayer dollars being spent on a project that may not get completed because the proper vetting of the legal issues and land ownership rights is absolutely an issue. Not only is it irresponsible use of taxpayer dollars, it shows again that Palin does not either a) investigate properly before taking actions or b) really didn't care that the land belonged to others- both of which show a callous approach to governing. As someone previously mentioned, this is very similar to what happened in Wasilla where she insited in building a sports center on land that the city did not own or have rights to, which she was well aware of- $22M later the town still doesn't have their complex and the legal battle for the land goes on. Completely irresponsible governing is an issue.

I am an Independent and quite frankly she scared me to death. They say the only way you can tell if a lawyer is lying is that his lips are moving. I feel that everytime the Barracude bright red lips are moving the same thing is happening. Then someone has to straighten things out by shaying ""She meant to say." Poor McCain should have picked someone who know about political things and not about firing a librarian cuz she won't take Huckleberry Finn off of the shelves. Oh yes, also Harry Potter. Send her to Russia, she would make a good dictator......

  • Posted By: Capricorn13 @ 09/23/2008 7:33:59 PM

Seems all Palin does is step on someone's toes. Firing the employee, Bridge to Nowhere, now the oil line, plus charging hotel room fees while she was at home. Todd in turn submitting bills for supposedly going on trips for state business. I didn't know the spouse of a governor or major was allowed a travel expense. She should be bashed, smashed and lashed.,

Obama / Biden - biggest shame to all Dems. and to the world at large - they would turn our country right over to the hands of terrorists and our economy down the drain. Thye are full of lies and bluff.
Go McCain and Palin - cant wait to have you run our country - God bless you both!

So you would like ot have two individuals who have not been truthful even when it has been exposed. Also if you want to talk about experience none of the candidates on either side have much if any executive experience, and I would not rely on what you call experience from Palin. She only seems to know what McCain and his team have told her to say because every speech she has given has been the same rhetoric. I will take my chances with Obama/Biden because with McCain/Palin it will be more of the same as with Bush and we see what he and Cheney have done to this country. If you think Obama/Biden will turn our country over to the terrorist what do you think that Bush/Cheney and McCain/Palin have and will do. Go back and listen to what Palin said in her interview with Gibson about going to war. We have not even finished the two wars we are involved in and one which we should have never started and Palin is talking about another war. So if you want to talk about shame just look at the Republicans and the mess that they have created because of their greed and arrogance.

So many uneducated bleeding heart false patriots who never take the time to get the facts. If someone tells them something they believe it regardless. Take all and I do mean ALL that you get with a grain of salt from both parties. Stop being led around by your noses and start finding out what each candidate is really about and not just what someone tells you they are about. See beyond the rhetoric and get to the facts. I support Obama. I have seen numerous cases where McCain has had to change his mind, change his policy or views on subjects becaue he was what? WRONG! As for Palin look at the fact that her state has a lower popluation than most major metroplitan cities. Yes it is very vital that our next President and Vice President have knowledge of foriegn goverments and terrorist issues. But as a Repulican look at this your favorite president Ronald Regan was an actor and a state senator and had no foriegn policy experience and you loved him. So why is it you can find stones to through under the same circumstances. Just look at the REAL facts this country's economic status is in the toilet. This election needs to be purely about domostic issues or our country is going to slide right into the ocean of the free world market . You say that your taxes will be raised by Obama then you must make over $200,000 per year. Otherwise your taxes will be lower and you will be given more tax advantages. Know the facts. Vote with your brain not your heart.

Shame on you for perpetuating lies in a public forum, careerdaytrader. It is interesting how one resorts to lies when there is no substance to their argument. Get a life.

Don't even get me started on his pastor of 20 years who regularly said "God Damn America!"

US of KKK. That video anybody can see on youtube, easy to find. Care to comment on WHY he went to such a racist church for 20 years?

I have no problem with a black man being president but not one who HATES white people and most of his policies are going to tax the rich white business owner and give welfare to blacks. Ridiculous!

      • Posted By: bwlear @ 09/23/2008 4:33:37 PM

What about Rev Hagee? Care to explain why Sen McCain went after his support even after his remarks were made public? One more question, since Sen Obama is of mixed race, are you trying to say that he hates 50% of himself since you are so sure that Rev Wright is a racist? Guess he's not white enough for you trader. Arre you Holys brother?

Wow. You write like someone with an IQ of 172. Sure. He hates white people? 172? US of KKK? 172? Sure. Ripping off old ladies with your genius. Definitely.

I can post on here because I have 100% automated my life and can spend as much time each day doing whatever I choose. Not many people on here can claim to have accomplished that. I'm far from where I want to be but making over half a million a year and the TIME to enjoy it is something that almost everybody wants and maybe 1/4 to 1/2 of 1 PERCENT ever achieve.

I hate the MORON Democrats for ruining this country.

            Trader

Impressive, a month ago you made $250k and had 4 employees selling software right? So now, by being 100% automated does that mean you fired your employees so you can make more money for yourself? I guess you want to blame Democrats for that move also.. (Maybe you are just making up your numbers.)

You have to wait until we get in office first, so for now, blame the MORON Republicans for ruining this country and they want 8 more years as their reward.

What a load of waffle! I'll say it again until one day if registers, the clip was 16 SECONDS LONG, do you know why? So you WOULD think Rev Wright was racist. It was taken OUT of context but you know this. You repeat it because guilt by association is the best you've got. The speech was given ONCE and Obama was not there. In an interview (google it yourself) Rev Wright said Obama must not have heard the entire speech. He heard the speech exactly as the rest of the world has, a 16 second clip from youtube. The entire SENTENCE from that speech is 'not *** bless America, *** **** America for turning its back on its citizens'. That doesn't have the same affect on you does it?

By the way the Rev you are demonizing was a pastor since 1972 and grew a congregation from 8 members to 8,000 members. There are many white parishioners there so that kills your racist arguement.

As for why Obama defended Wright, he was going there for 20 years, it would be hard to believe someone who baptized his child would say that. Then someone showed him the 16 second clip from youtube and it became counterproductive to defend Wright any longer. The outrage grew so loud that they no longer heard HIS message. Good work trying to keep it going by the way.

I guess its acceptable for McCain to call EVERYONE from the Middle East terrorists, oh that's just stereotyping that's not racism is it? So if McCain thinks EVERYONE over there are terrorists, you can clearly see that we are not leaving until we control the Middle East. How much will that cost? We balk over bailing out AIG, but we can afford 10-12 BILLION DOLLARS per month for 8 years if McCain is elected?

Except for on one of Dave Chappelle's skits, how many black people do you think have joined your local KKK or skinhead chapter? So why condemn a multicultural church over a HALF of a sentence.

      • Posted By: EveryoneHasBias @ 09/22/2008 4:15:48 PM

The YouTube clip to which you're referring consists of about four minutes worth of clips from a couple of sermons. In twenty years there are approximately 1,040 Sundays. Now, let's make a reasonable estimate for length, say, one hour per sermon? That would make 62,400 minutes of sermon. So, that comes out to about one minute of denigrating the USA for every 15,600 minutes of talking about whatever else people talk about in church. The church tapes are available. If he "regularly" said these things, why are there so few examples out there? Now, I'm not really suggesting that he never criticized America in other sermons, but it's ludicrous to suggest that Obama was sitting and listening to hate speech for 20 years.

You know you have a problem with a Black man being president..you can say all you want U R A RACIST!!! --you are afraid of that fact...thinking that welfare is only for blacks proves this much..BTW, there are a bunch of white people living off welfare just like any other race..

Even while I'm pro choice Obama and his baby killing stance SICKENS me.

Watch other video where he is ONLY person NOT to put his hand on his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance.

Answer the allegations which are REAL!

While at it try explaining why Obama knows so many terrorists, and Felons!

What would prompt Palin and her advisors to commit to building this pipeline at such great expense to the state, when it's chances timely, or actual completion, are so uncertain? Only a few possable answers, any of which may be very telling.

  • Posted By: JSmith26 @ 09/22/2008 2:53:27 AM

    grej,

It is not a matter of whether democrats or republicans drive foreign cars or not, it is the fact that McCain lied about it. I could care less what he drives, but I certainly do care that lying comes so easily to him. Not just about cars, but about everything that comes out of his mouth.

    • Posted By: owenizhr @ 09/22/2008 3:03:38 AM

McCain's family (read:HIS DAUGHTER)owns a toyota, McCains family (read: WIFE)owns a Vw. YOU prove to me that HE bought those cars, then call him a liar. Until then you are making false accusations. B/C his family has them doesn't mean he went to the store and bought them. He said " I buy american." He did not say everyone in my family buys american. Learn the whole story.

        owenizhr

I don't know how it came to the point where McCain 'I buy american' is so important. That's right, establishing a pattern of McCain lying.

Having someone bring you 'a bucket of steam' from the boiler room is pretty slick. While I doubt anyone can find out if John McCain's signature is on any car receipts; does wearing a pair of ferragamo shoes count for non american? Of course you can argue that it was a gift. However he CHOSE to wear it in public and on several occasions.marking a contrast to his beliefs.

Ooooh, raise the spectre of big bad terrorists and we'll all vote Republican. They did a great job protecting us from 9/11. If Bush really thought national security was our nations biggest priority throughout his presidency, he would have beefed up our security beforehand. Sure, you can blame Clinton for not taking the threat seriously, but who was holding the ball at end game?

to Country1st - exactly of what concern is it to you how premature the baby was - and how Gov. Palin was able to come back to work soon after having a baby - how about you concentrate on more important issues rather than questioning every move people do - b/c if you want me to start questioning Obama and Bidens moves I will and that will put your party further into deep deep shame (which you guys have already done to yourselves!) Perhaps you concentrate on the issues of security for our country and the economy - both of which Obama has NO experience in and Sen. McCain does have experience in - as well as has shown to do a good show in those regards!
Shame on you for questioning people like that!

It sounds like Palin is acting irresponsibly like she did in Wasilla, when she initiated the building of a sports complex on land the town did not own. The town is still paying for that costly mistake. She is also anti native rights whether it be in Alaska or elsewhere. She uses her husbands small native heritage as a campaign slogan but in reality her actions are always opposing native rights. Lisa Mason

    • Posted By: McBlinky luvs Mooseburger @ 09/22/2008 4:00:26 PM

exactly, she likes to start things without doing all the research..like covering up her child's 1st pregnancy by faking her own, taking her pregnant child out of school for 5 months for so called mono, saying her water broke and then flew 8+ hours passing up hospitals to give birth at a hospital that does not have a nicu...on and on and on..

      • Posted By: country1st @ 09/23/2008 3:07:36 PM

Does anybody know how premature was the baby when he was born? Because if he was a premature baby , there was no way that Palin would be able to come back to work in 3 days.

Have McCain bomb, bomb, bom, bomb the Canadian Indian tribes and steal their land. Look out here comes Iron Dog champ and hatchet man Todd. Environment be damned full speed ahead with the pipeline. The more pipes from the far notrth the better. Who needs polar bears, baby seals, whales, karibou, wolves anyway? They just impede the progress of the greedy to get their share of the swill.

    McCain/Palin, what a joke.

NEW YORK (CBS) ??? Hillary Clinton won't be speaking at Monday's anti-Iran rally at the United Nations -- and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter.

The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

"This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker," Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.

Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.

"I have never seen such raw emotion -- on both sides," said someone close to the situation.

The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, "it could jeopardize their tax exempt status" if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.

So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.

"It's an absolute shame that this has happened," Hikind said. "To threaten organizations ??? to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don't withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we're going to look into your tax exempt status ??? that's McCarthyism."

Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.

"I'm absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats," said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. "I'm a Democrat and for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Republican. I can't take it anymore."

As for Sen. Clinton, she brushed right past CBS 2 HD's Lou Young when he tried to ask her about the issue on Thursday night.

Lou Young: "Were the organizers of Monday's rally right to depoliticize it?"

Clinton walked past Young, said "Thank you all very much" and started hugging people.
