    The article above states:

One of Canada's top pipeline experts, Professor Andre Plourde of the University of Alberta, agrees that the seven-year timetable proposed by Palin's lawyers for sorting out First Nations claims is "optimistic indeed."

The title of the article seems to criticize Palin for being optimistic ...

If it takes 1 hour to get to work and you say you can get there in 30 minutes, you are being optimistic, get it? Nice try though....

My biggest concern about Palin is her lack of experience dealing with inner city issues. If the republicians can parade her around with foriegn leaders in New York, they should be bold enough to take her to Harlem or the Bronx and have her address some people of color. America isn't just a nation of white people from the suburbs. By the way, why is her refusal to meet with the NAACP in Alaska talked about.

    Schmidt said:

But let's be clear and be honest with each other about something fundamental to this race, which is this: whatever the New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization. It is pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor Palin, and excuses Senator Obama. There's no level of public vetting with regard to Senator Obama's record, his background, his past statements. There's no level of outrage directed at his deceitful ads. This is an organization that is completely, totally, 150% in the tank for the Democratic candidate, which is their prerogative to be. But let's not be dishonest and call it something other than what it is.
Everything that is read in the New York Times that attacks this campaign should be evaluated by the American people from that perspective: that it is an organization that has made a decision to cast aside its journalistic integrity and tradition to advocate for the defeat of one candidate - in this case John McCain - and to advocate for the election of the other candidate, Barack Obama.

Shhh, don't tell people they have to evaluate what they read!! Its far too much fun to watch people regurgitate whatever they saw on the news that day.

McCain is behind on the times, he had hoped that psychologically, no one would challenge a woman.(Albeit was a mistake to think Palin is even in the same ballpark as Hillary). She is after all a mother of five, No, Palin WAS a mother of five, she is now a VP candidate and she should be treated as such. I'm sure she will appreciate it. You can't hide her from the media through the election, except for a debate. She could be our president, if the doctors have been covering up McCain's health. Considering what I'm seeing with Palin, I would not put it past them..

Cheney's hiding facts and Palin's is hiding facts, this is the change that America NEEDS. Palin made McCain look ridiculous and a man in his position cannot afford to made look ridiculous. Unfortunally she was the best the republicans had according to McCain.

The republicans finally had a defibrillator that worked, too bad charge is fading fast. The endgame is near and once the extramarital affair comes out, its OVER for Palin. Then again, if it hasn't hurt McCain why should it hurt Palin (maybe because it's NEW news)

The more the public learns, the less factual support there is for her "principles" and "governing." By all means, Palin, continue to refuse taking questions; you only aspire to become vice president.

Unilateral actions without regard to international partners - now there's a surpise.

I can't blame the canadian native community for being aprehensive about oil projects on their lands. im sure they have had enough experience in the alberta tar sands to realize what their land rights and compensation should be. make no mistake these aren't the steryotypical indians of yesteryear ready to be exploited by big business. these are savy business people and the dificulty they pose in negotiations is a testament their view of mother earth's value and their duty to be her custodian.

The Kremlin is considering reviving a 19th century dream of linking Russia and The United States by building the world's longest railway tunnel under the Bering Strait.

Government ministers will analyse a pre-feasibility study prepared by the Russian Acadamy of Sciences at a conference in Moscow next week. Desipte its vast cost-estimated to be in the region of 32.5 billion pounds-the project's authors are confident of securing the backing of both Russian and American governments "This is one of the very few projects that can cardinally change the development of Russia's far east"said Viktor Razbegin, the deputy head of research at the economy ministry

The indians deserve compensation for using their land. Let's get it right this time. Palin compensated her fellow Alaskans with a check from oil profits so why not do the same for the Indian Nation......oh! that's right...they are Indian. If you do things the honest and right way the first time then you don't have to go back and fix it later. That's what our country continues to do and continues "not to learn from our mistakes"

Bring on the comments about Palin. The more people know about her and the more they realize she is just Gerorge Bush with lipstick the more Republicans will realize it isn't about what party you belong to it's about putting people first instead of self interest. As far as consulting with the Indian Nation first I guess things haven't changed since the days of the Pilgrims. Were the Indians who first owed our country consulted first befoe they were run off and their land taken....I don't think so. By the way I am of Indian ancestry also but in my mind I am just an American...but I call it like it is. Palin and McCain have the Pilgrim mentality. "Do as I say not as I do". The Replublican mentality is I will ask you for it first and if you don't give it to me then I will take it by force...sound familiar?

I feel the Indian Nations are just out for more money besides their casinos. I live on former ranch land with a natural pipeline running through it. We still have cows, deer, rabbits, bobcats, mountain lions, coyetes and the like. They all seem to be thriving. The good part of the pipeline, besides the obvious, is that it keeps people from building closely around it. We are currently limited to 10 acres per home and the residents, both civilan and wild are thriving!
The Indian Nations, or whomever owns a property should be consulted though. That I agree with. But to deny millions and millions of people energy in today's world is disgusting. By the way, I am 1/4 American Indian.

McCain may SAY he is in remission from skin cancer, melanoma. We most likely will never learn the truth. However, the medical truth, the prognosis, is that melanoma becomes very aggressive in the aged. In addition, it does appear that the campaign is taking its toll on McCain. Take note, he gets more confused, needs to read notes more, is visibly very tired.

On the other hand, Governor Palin and Co-Governor, "First Dude," Todd Palin, are full-throttle.
Come to think of it, I don't remember any other Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidate always having the spouse on the campaign trail, on the stage at every state rally and being introduced by the VP candidate every time. Very "telling," "...my husband, "First Dude"..." And the "First Dude" is taking and so enjoying the limelight, as if it is his...and his due.

Yes, the presidency is truly a heartbeat away from SARAH Palin and TODD Palin.

    God help us.

I'm with you DawnNY. Todd & Sarah presidency scares me to the core. Here's something to read and ponder.... I get a bad feeling about them getting into the White House.

Why are we surprised that Gov Palin lied about her support for the bridge and the money she kept? Alaska gets back $1.48 from the federal government for every $1 in taxes it sends -- and then Gov. Palin touts their "surplus" and gives everyone in Alaska a $1,200 check. Which the rest of us have paid for. She's a fiscal conservative all right...

Try telling Schmidt and Rove that this pipeline is unlikely to succeed. They'll find a way to spin and distort that too! Oh wait! They already are...

Comment: I was making a point, and you definitely took it out of context. Of course not just anything goes in the blue room, and Clinton was wrong to do so. MY POINT IS: Clinton cheating on his wife did not make him any less capable of running our country, obviously so, because he did a damn good job.. McCain has more than his fair share of idiotic moments (see Keating 5, massive deregulation, "straight talk express" lies, etc... I could go on all night). Obama/Biden is not perfect, McCain/Palin is not perfect, you and I are not perfect. Get over it.

But for the DNA on the blue dress Monica would have just been another of those Clinton pants chasing trailer trash he and his minion would endeavor destroy those women who outed him. The context is that to preserve his own persona he will destroy those who out him. He was fined and disbarred for these transgressions and a number of prosecutions were also administered to his administration. The Keeting 5 and Enron are piker occurrences compared to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the fact that no investigations are being called to prosecute the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac CEOs implies Dem complicity in this debacle. ???Andrew Cuomo, the youngest Housing and Urban Development secretary in history, made a series of decisions between 1997 and 2001 that gave birth to the country's current crisis. He took actions that???in combination with many other factors???helped plunge Fannie and Freddie into the subprime markets without putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments. He turned the Federal Housing Administration mortgage program into a sweetheart lender with sky-high loan ceilings and no money down,??? ???Those are the interests that surrounded Cuomo, who did more to set these forces of unregulated expansion in motion than any other secretary and then boasted about it, presenting his initiatives as crusades for racial and social justice.???
???42 percent of their mortgages serve low- and moderate-income families. Cuomo raised that number to 50 percent and dramatically hiked GSE mandates to buy mortgages in underserved neighborhoods and for the "very-low-income." Part of the pitch was racial,???

And Clinton with the help of Newt Ginrich and indeed over his objections if he had vetoed the reduction of the capital gains taxes from 28% to 20% would not have had the surplus he had. That the supply side lost to the Dems that if you encourage investments you grow the economy and thus gain tax revenues.

Palin's pregnancy to nowhere: Palin's decision to give birth to a Down-syndrome child was a crime; she not only trapped an innocent human soul in a lifelong jail and set him up for failure, but also she drained valuable resources from the society. McCain's decision to nominate Palin showed that this old man can no longer tell left from right.
