Palin: The Soft Preparedness of Lowered Expectations

In all seriousness, expect the following from Palin's "meetings" with leaders on Tuesday and Wednesday:

-A series of serious-sounding quotes, direct from her days of preparation, that cannot possibly indicate her actual knowledge on the issues, data and risks facing each and with regard to each nation. Quotes, not knowledge, happen in days.

-A bevy of positive statements from each leader--after all, that's why they were chosen--all being nations seeking U.S. favor, and having nothing to lose and potentially much to gain by doing so.

-A rush of "surprised" reactions from media at "how seriously she was taken", ready, as so often, to grasp the superfically new.

-An attempt by the McCain camp to drive through her supposed preparedness as a result, as quickly as possible, before the debates.

-Still no in-depth, free-form, extensive challenging interviews from this prospective President.

    Don't buy it.

A few days ago, she was ready to invade Russia (which she could see from her border).

Remember, for your security and future: A series of rehearsed quotes does not a President make.

I refuse to believe everything Sarah Palin has ever done as an elected official comprises ill thought out boondoggles, settling scores, or rewards for friends and cronies. 90% maybe, but 100%? She'd have to be on a par with Dick Cheney for that kind of ironbrained incompetence and mendacity and frnakly I don't think she;s that smart.

I refuse to believe that everything Sarah Palin has ever done as an elected official has turned out to be ill thought out boondoggles, settling personal scores or payoffs for herself and cronies. 90% maybe, but 100%? C'mon, we haven't seen anyone like that since Dick Cheney.

    St. Germain:

What do candidate's and president's private lives have to do with their ability to run our country? Abosolutely NOTHING. Who cares if Clinton lied about hooking up with an intern?! It is his personal life, and not our business. At least he didn't destroy our country while doing so. What you SHOULD actually care about is a candidate who lies his face off on a daily basis about issues that actually matter. Issues that will affect your future and that of your children and grandchildren.

Only if she is not wearing a blue dress with DNA and the recipient of the provider of such DNA is not under oath. The military could not engage in such acts in the Balkans even if they were married. Guess by you standard that means anything goes in the blue room.

      • Posted By: JSmith26 @ 09/22/2008 3:10:42 AM

I was making a point, and you definitely took it out of context. Of course not just anything goes in the blue room, and Clinton was wrong to do so. MY POINT IS: Clinton cheating on his wife did not make him any less capable of running our country, obviously so, because he did a damn good job. The fact that Obama tried cocaine before doesn't make him any less capable either. It would be one thing if he tried it, loved it, and continuously used it. We don't need drug addicts in the white house (ahem, Cindy McCain). However, he tried it in the past and doesn't use it now. Can you honestly say that, growing up, in your rebellious teenage angst filled years, you never made one single dumb decision that you now regret? I don't know a single person out there who can claim to be perfect, presidential candidate or not. McCain has more than his fair share of idiotic moments (see Keating 5, massive deregulation, "straight talk express" lies, etc... I could go on all night). Obama/Biden is not perfect, McCain/Palin is not perfect, you and I are not perfect. Get over it.

They all worked for Clinton and are not Republicans.

Yeah... I know but seems joeg2029 below was not inclined to admit that most relevant fact that they are in fact Dems. I was stoking for an admission that non of the Dems will admit. The financial world is managing difficult issues now and the numerous smoke screens are being created compliments newsWeak with this Palin pipe line deal, among others, that you more than adequately provided the reason that they had rather deal with the Canadian Parliament that the US Congress and/or the Canadian Indians as well. And the congress would be for sure aided by their cabal of their Evnoro lawyers and activist network that may have influence in Canada as well if it hurts the US in any manner. That Envoro freaks are now or for sure will be on red alert if the congress lets the ban on off shore drilling expire as well. In fact I believe the Dems are so confident of this groups effectiveness I think it most likely their current inaction is driven by that expectation of major assistance by the Enviro freak movement.

For those of you who think drilling here in America will lower the price of gas and oil by tearing up our national heritage till it looks like Jersey, are so narrow minded. The oil from all countries go to the cartel, where it is sold to the highest bidder. You will still be paying out your behind while the Republicans will be enjoying their ability to put another one over on you poor, ignorant, unsuspecting souls. Some of you should close your mouth and think with the thing called a brain! Read between the lines: Palin is trying to sell her people and her state for the VP position. That is what she has to offer other than she is "hot". She is manipulative and everything has its price. Including Palin. Her husband works in the oil fields, remember. This gets him a huge raise I am sure. Especially if McCain wins. And ambitious? I'm surprised she doesn't want the Presidency of the United States right now. Wonder how long it is before McCain realizes his mistake. Yes, he aggravated his party, but if he gets elected, the GOP will be swimming in oil profits. You won't see it though. Why should they share, even though that oil officially belongs to the American people...ALL of them, not just the rich oil companies. Ask them forthright where the oil would go, how much would it reduce your price at the pump? They have leagues of intelligent people who assess this business all the time. If you get fleeced, don't complain when you are cold, tired and wet walking to work or maybe not even having a job because you can't afford the oil to get there on what you make. They are already emptying the IRA and stock accounts. Real Fear? Or just another manipulation from the Grand Old Party. I smell mutton cooking...

Comment: What was the reason it could not be placed alongside the oil pipeline? Oh was it that she would have had to pay Alaskan natives and then hire American workers.

    ****************************************************
No, the oil companies would rather take their chances with the Canadian Parliament
than the US Congress. And the enviromental protesters would need tribal permission
    to protest on resevation land.

Most of the Democrats I know drive foreign cars. Mostly Japanese.
Don't get down on just McCain for this.

  • Posted By: grej @ 09/22/2008 12:06:58 AM

The pipeline is needed. If the Indians get enough compensation, they'll settle.

Bridge to Nowhere. Road to Nowhere. Pipeline to Nowhere. Everything seems to end up Nowhere in the Land of the Midnight Sun. No wonder Palin jumped at the chance to be MCain's running mate. It's the only way she could get out of Alaska.

Get up with current news. There is only one major oil pipe line in Alaska and it has been there for years and has not run off the Reindeer. The pipe line you mention is currently in negotiations through Canada but as usual since it may be by the liberal vernacular "to difficult and thus too hard" with no immediate gratification m it should not be done because it is so so hard. We should throw up the white flag here toooooo??????

The scandal of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac dwarfs the Enron debacle. In Enron, people went to jail. With the Fannies, some just walked away with millions.

I expect we/you are on thin ice with the left. They are at their best with the ad hominem and adjectives with facts, math, and process as methods lost to their vernacular and reason.
They will never admit anything is bigger than Enron??? But keep it up....

  • Posted By: maq1 @ 09/21/2008 11:22:24 PM

Why do Republicans think that the American people are stupid. They insist on claiming things that arent true. Can they really just lie and get away with it?? John McCain claimed he only buys American cars. Turns out he has 13 cars and they include foreign cars. No one asked him to lie about where his cars come from. So why did he do it? Why do they keep lying?

  • Posted By: joeg2028 @ 09/21/2008 7:15:02 PM

Hey, Clinger, what does your blather have to do with the question about the gas pipeline that the queen of Alaska has been touting as one of her MANY accomplishments as governor?

And guess what? All the subprime mess started when the Republicans owned the White Hose (not a typo) and the Congress.

    • Posted By: Clinger @ 09/21/2008 10:40:24 PM

Now let me see. Franklin Raines, James Johnson, and Jamie Gorelick are all Republicans... Did I interpret that right??? And Republicans let them run loose???

First Nations...Natives... anything other than Indians is appropriate in today's open-eyed, world-wide-web world! Indians live in India!! Hello!

Quite the Hollywood-flamed stereotypes. In Canada, the term Indian is kept for our Punjab-born friends who now raise there families in Vancouver's Lower Mainland, and throughout the Prairies.

Just the facts: The administration???s Unheeded Warnings About the Systemic Risk Posed by the GSEs
President Bush publicly called for GSE reform 17 times in 2008 alone before Congress acted. Unfortunately, these warnings went unheeded, as the President's repeated attempts to reform the supervision of these entities were thwarted by the legislative maneuvering of those who emphatically denied there were problems.

A PARAPHRASE FROM KANSAS ANDY FOR JOHN McCAIN:
    = = = = = = = = =

For your 13 cars including the 2 "foreign cars" you told Michigan autoworkers you would never buy, because you only buy American:

    - - - $490,000

For the 7 homes that you can't remember having and none are in foreclosure because your lobbyist friends looked out for you:

    - - - $19,600,000

For the 1 pair of shoes you are wearing today, minus the bootstraps you never needed because your wife's father agreed to bank roll your political career after you left your first wife:

    - - - $500

That sinking feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you just can't keep a lid on all the lies ahead of Nov. 4th election:

    - - - PRICELESS!!

    THE VOTER'S REGISTRATION CARD - - - DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!!

Typical democrat bashing. Doing and saying thing they can to try and avoid the FACT that Obama is an admitted cocain abuser. The democrat party had a good shot at this election untill they nominated a CRACK-HEAD. The pot smoking "but never inhaled" president Clinton, and that presidential sperm stained dress of Monica Lewinskie, not to forget that flavor enhanced cigar, and the FACT that Clinton lied to the courts about it was enough.
