    Friendly Democrat has it right. It is unfortunate that our American society has devolved into the sorry, ignorant state that it has but what can you expect after a too-long intellectual diet of Pacman thru the latest X-box ration of what--GrandTheftAuto? No wonder we have the Grumpy's of this world with his idiotic clinging to Republicanism when, in fact, his writing ability is good measure of his ability to discern which party historically, and which candidate at this time, offers the greater American majority the 'best choice'! Is it really all that hard to see that the Republican party is made up of only two types; the self-serving top two percent income earners and a whole lot of variations of the Mississippi redneck who has for too-long fallen victem to the 'used-car sales pitch' of that top-two percent? [Case in point: Tellitall and his gullible buying of the ignorant 'pitch' that Obama is 'secretly a Muslim' as implied by the "turban" telltale... :o) ]

    i do not understand how after 8yrs of "conservative" republican rule, our country is in a state of shambles and near catastrophic ruin while u republicans run around saying the democrats are stupid. the dollar is worth less today than it has been in nearly 40yrs. unemployment has went up 8months in a row...home foreclosures. unaffordable health care for hardworking families that cant afford it. largest debt in history yet while under conservatives . a miserable war that we cant afford and u republicans think its ok to buy bombs but not food or healthcare...there are terrorist in every country on this planet...it is not prudent to fite terrorism by invading and occupying a country...intelligence and special operations in the only to fite terrorism i repeat the only way...

    At least Obama is down to earth and will make a great leader for this country. To slam him for owning only 2 CARS, while McCain can't even remember how many homes he owns (plus owns at least 8 other cars), is completely disgusting and two-faced.

    over the last 8yrs we have turned into an IMPERIALISTIC country...which is the reason why we are where we are today...GREED rich keep getting richer and poor keep getting poorer....and then to top it off, the republicans give the richest people tax breaks...cmon. if i work overtime at my job, more taxes are taken out...but the republicans say they dont want to be taxed more just because they make more...well the average american worker is taxed heavily for earning more overtime money. why should the republicans not be taxed more for earning more?

    No crazydriver, all the money does not go back to Japan. Hundreds of thousands of dollars go to locals who work in the plants. Toyota is fabulous. During this summer, while the plant was shut down due to lower demand for the Tundra, Toyota kept everybody on the payroll and put them to work doing civic service. Money does go back, but a great deal of it DOES stay here and improve the American economy.

        This is getting really off the topic of the original conversation here. To me, the percentage doesn't matter. If a man is making $30,000 a year working at the Toyota plant in San Antonio, that is $30,000 in our local economy that would otherwise not be here. It is easy to say that he might easily be making that same money working for some other local company, but the truth is that might well not be making any money. With more and more companies moving production and service overseas, it is my opinion that we should be glad that some companies are choosing to use american workers to produce their products. If the salaries are fair, the benefits are good, and the overall impact on the economy is good, what is the problem? Besides, just because a company is American overall doesn't mean that it does any better for the economy than a foreign owned company. I keep using SA, TX as an example because it is one with which I am familiar. ATT recently bailed on SA because of corporate downsizing, leaving thousands jobless, many homes in foreclosure, and many service companies bankrupt. Is this what you would rather see than a Japanese company making cars in the states?

    So, who cares what automobile the candidates drive. It appears that McCain has wisely invested in a fleet of cars and is a car lover, like Jay Leno!!! DUH!! Why, I'd have a bunch of British Sports cars (that I've owned over the past 48 years - I'm 67) if I could afford them, now. This is not a matter of being nuts, this is a matter of personal choices, that sound good to me. Obama drives one car because that's all he can afford, and he wants to make sure the public notices that he lives "close to the vest." HA! I'm with McCain. He has a rich wife - another reason for having all those cars - there's nothing to it, guys, so why not give it up!!!

    8yrs in a row of republican rule (6yrs with congress control and executive control) and abortion is still legal...i repeat abortion is still legal...when will u people understand that voting republican wont end abortion and start voting for the democrats.
