Just because a foreign car company has a plant in the U.S. doesn't mean the money stays here. People ask why the economy is doing bad while they drive their Toyotas and Hondas. There's your problem!
The Honda and Toyota plants in the US are put there to keep certain simple minded American's content with the idea that the vehicles are made here while in fact nearly every dollar goes straight back to Japan.

So what, the man owns 13 cars in his collection. If Jay Leno were to run for public office would he be slammed for owning so many as well (several of which are forgeign)? By the way, Liberals, Honda has 4 assembly plants in the US! VWs are made in Mexico (Have you heard of Clinton's NAFTA?). I am certain that Nissan has a plant in the US (according to my VIN, my Nissan P/U was built in the US by AAW employees) and I bet Toyota does too. Come on liberals, GET A GRIP! And do you really believe that Obama has only one car? That doesn't seem to be supporting the American (or any other) automaker when the majority of US homes have 2 cars. And one more note, I own a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. Guess what? Although it was assembled in Wisconsin, over 80% of the parts came from Canada and Mexico!

During the last election "W" and the "Rove Express" smeared John Kerry and his wife because she is an Heinz aire, but no one has hardly mentioned McCains wife and the connection to Budwiser.

If the Toyota Tundra is made in the US (San Antonio, TX to be exact), I have no reason to doubt that other Toyotas are too. And I don't have a problem with the family owning that many vehicles. Arizona is not a state renowned for it's public transportation. And, have you seen how many children the family has? Should those children be denied the opportunity that other children who come from families of even middle-american income have - to drive? Not that I think it is a right for teens to drive, but if the family can afford it, why should they be punished because their father is running for president?

News flash tinatuna, if you make 40k or more your taxes will go up...this man that you will cast your vote for also makes a lot of money. One man alone is not able to stop the war, one needs to look at the circumstances ie, security, threat to the sovereignty and interests of our nation, One who will not go to apologize for what the US has done on foreign soil, One who has a wife that for once in her lifetime is proud of the US. One who has very close ties to a known terrorist who has actually committed crimes here and has said that "he did not do enough" Lastly one who is not lost without a teleprompter.

Get your facts right - under Obama's plan, if you make less than $250,000 dollars per year your taxes will go DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's 95% of Americans. Stop the lies.

Could Newsweek and MSNBC be more biased? Try being a little more fair and balanced. Sen. McCain has been a lifelong public servant - he and his family have worked hard to own what they do. They deserve the fruits of their labor, just as all American's deserve the fruits of their labor. What the candidates drive means little to me, where they stand on The United States and the citizens of this country mean everything to me. That's what is great about democracy as opposed to socialism, you work hard, earn money and reward yourself however you see fit, not how the government sees fit. I support Democracy and free trade as do most Americans.

    • Posted By: yarnedia @ 09/22/2008 9:54:41 AM

By "They deserve the fruits of their labor" you really mean the fruits of Cindy's family's labor right? I don't consider dumping your wife for a rich chick "labor". When you try and paint the other guy as an "elitist" who's "not like you and me", this is what you get. Fair game.

You people ought to get your heads on straight. None of you know what the hell you are talking about. Bush ruined this country and McCain will do the same and if you can't see what's going on you must be pretty ignorant. What fools live in America.

  • Posted By: khnews @ 09/22/2008 9:06:18 AM

I have to agree 1000% with Jake 333. If you've worked hard as I know the McCain's have, you have earned your right to a nice life and all the material belongings you desire. Let's not forget the sacrifice John McCain made for our country and OUR FREEDOM! So your telling me that you want someone to tell YOU that you have no right to work hard and earn a good life? Give me a break, this is America! Let's see you sit in a war prison for five years and come home to further serve your country to make it a better place for the rest of us. I doubt you McCain slammers have the guts to even fathom the idea.

    • Posted By: eagles1776 @ 09/22/2008 9:52:30 AM

Thanks McCain for your service in crashing several multi-million dollar air planes including the one you were shot down in. You were so useful to us as a POW. Right there killing those mean ol' Commies.

I agree that if one has wealth they earned why not engoy it. When one dumps one wife to marry a rich heiress I raise an eyebrow. Also wearing a lapel pin (which McCain has not been doing lately) doesn't mean one is not patriotic. Exploiting the symbols of the USA for one's personal gain is not patriotic.

Senator Obama is as patriotic as anyone but doesn't need to flaunt it. Those who flaunt it are probably unsure of their patriotism and want to make sure everyone else knows they are patriotic. I personally am a veteran. I don't need silly magnets or pins to show my patriotism. I have patriotism in my heart. On the appropriate holidays I proudly celebrate America. I stand for the national anthem (hand over heart not required) and when we need to recite the pledge of allegiance I proudly put my hand over my heart and recite the words along with everyone else. So does Barack Obama and so does John McCain. Now can we move on to issues. How about we start with the economy?

"They deserve the fruits of their labor" - COUNTRY FIRST. Don't you mean the fruits of Cindy's family's labor? This is fair game when you try and paint the other guy as an "elitist" who's "not like you and me".

"All the candidates' cars"?? Laughable, considering a) all the candidates are not represented and b) this is what is considered newsworthy during an election. Heaven forbid we talk about important issues that Nader, McKinney, Barr and Baldwin are willing to talk about...the ones the other two candidates won't touch. It seriously bothers me that the third party candidates practically have to beg for any kind of coverage (even though they have the RIGHT to run for office and deserve to be acknowledged), and we give McCain and Obama coverage over the silliest things. DUMB! Boy, am I glad that I'm educating MYSELF about the election. The media is certainly not helping.

  • Posted By: justchuck @ 09/22/2008 9:35:13 AM

Obama doesn't sound too successful to me, LOL. I mean how does a family of 4 get by with one car? I'll be he has a govt. car too.
BTW- How dId McCain's bombing the Vietnamese ever protect or ensure "OUR FREEDOM".

Suthrnknight, stop posting your ku klux klan lies, its transparent and pathetic. You could have picked a more subtle name too.

Palin religiously believes that these are the "end times." So she is okay with American or the world being distroyed, because Christians will go to heaven.

Obviously, Palin will not keep us safe from terrorism.

    Think this over.

The problem KHNEWS is not that he own 13 cars it's that he lied about owning only american made cars, "Literally." If you pander to Detroit auto workers and say something that is simply FALSE, it is our right to call him on it. He's inevitably going to be painted as further out of touch, because the misstatements and lies his 'outraged' campaign have been putting out seem to be happening daily. The issue with the number of houses was not because he owns 8 (not 7) it's because he couldn't actually remember how many. That's a staggering concept and put's him way out of touch with what's happening to most americans fighting to keep their, 1, home. That's the point. P.S. No one is questioning his patriotism. Just his memory and truthfulness.

The McCain's purchases and lifestyle were made an issue when they attacked Obamas about being elitist and not being regular Americans. While I don't think anyone would question that the McCains have worked, one could question how they achieved the social and economic position. His father was an admiral and therefore was admitted into the naval academy (where he was a lousy student) and she inherited beer distribution empire. 13 cars and 10 homes in not very normal and it's not really relevant to the election, what is disturbing are the lies and misdirection coming from McCain all the while claiming to be a "Maverick" and a man of honor. He has no sense of shame and clearly will do anything to win this election.

  • Posted By: Mr.Man @ 09/22/2008 9:06:18 AM

The McCain's are out of touch with the main stream America. They don't understand what the working class of people endures on a daily basis to maintain there homes and just make a living. They want to continue down the same road that the administration, which is in office at the present time, has taken us down. The US economy is hurting and now a financial crisis. Its time for change, Obama/Biden 2008.

  • Posted By: old*enough*to*know*better @ 09/22/2008 9:04:04 AM

Besides...don't the "Elite" include all of these celebrities or the Clinton's (worth millions) and Biden's (lives in a $10 million home) of the world that support Obama? Wonder how they'll feel when he taxes them higher. Pretty sure they make over $250k.

  • Posted By: Mr.Man @ 09/22/2008 9:03:00 AM

I'm happy for the McCain's that owned 7 homes and 13 vehicles, that their personal business. Barack Obama is not complaining. These things are just materiel possessions. It doesn't really mean anything. The character and quality of individual is what counts. Obama/Biden 2008.

  • Posted By: scroissant @ 09/22/2008 7:18:21 AM

It's significant because this is the guy, McCain, who wants to give his wall street buddies $700 billion dollars of our money, put no ceiling on how much compensation they walk away with, put no controls in place to keep it from happening again, and give no help to struggling Americans. God help us all.

  • Posted By: jlivesay @ 09/22/2008 8:54:12 AM

So all you GOP people, who is the out of touch "elite" now. McCain and the whole REP party are a bunch of hypocrites!
