    John's military service and sacrifice to country is, undeniably, admirable: Unfortunately, this does not change some basic realities. 7 homes ! ... 13 cars! and Cindy showing up to the Republican convention in a $300,000 wardrobe while millions of hardworking Americans are struggling and/or facing foreclosue -- Now that is decadence!! ..... How utterly stupit and arrogant can you get !! ......... I am a 51 year old WASP independant, who is in the upper 10 percentile income bracket, and who has typically leaned/voted republican all of my life .... But Wrong is wrong and right is right . There is no doubt that John and Cindy are patriots- as long as their version of America predominates and they are at the top of the heap. The truth is: "I think I would really like John if I met him: Moreover, as a navy veteran myself, I can certainly appreciate his service a a Navy pilot, and his subsequent POW status ...... but I'm just not liking what I am seeing with him and wife Cindy. John is somewhat in touch with the middle class, and does have a since of justice, but Cindy doesn't have a clue. John is sounding to much like Reagan (The old "trickle down economy" hogwash). Finally, I keep hearing all of the irrelavent nonsence about race, so I will close on a racial note: This normally Republican leaning WASP is voting for the "black guy"............ I'll take my chances with "youth and inexperience" over the "same old status quo".

    Do we really need a President who can't remember how many homes he owns, how many cars her owns, or who bought his daughter's car? Sounds he needs to be in a nursing home to me.

    Racial remarks aside, I think this article perfectly illustrates the plight between Republicans (aka "those who have money") and Democrats (aka "those who traditionally 'have not' as much). Regardless of anybody's racial or income "class" in this nation...who needs 7 homes and 13 cars? I think it says A LOT about Mr. Obama that he drives 1 vehicle, regarless of whether it's a "gas guzzling" or "eco friendly" ride! Do I think this article has any bearing on the election? No, I do not! However, it's interesting information that gives voters an idea about how our Presidential hopefuls use their money and what's truly important to them.

    Young men and women are dying in wars we have no business being in so that John & Cindy have the "freedom" to pick our pockets. They have no scruples. Cindy is a drug addict who stole drugs from her own "humanitarian" agency. John is an opportunistic who has milked his POW *** to the point that we are all sick of it. The fact is that he left his disfigured wife to marry a 25 year old heiress. You can thank his "economic advisor" Phil Gramm for the fact that our countries financial situation is the worst since the Great Depression. But hey, Americans are whiners.

    Did you all forget we are the UNITED States of America? Freedom has always been at the cost of americans lives.May I quote Patrick Henry.....Gentlemen may cry peace, peace, but there is no peace. Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. Forbid it ole mighty God. for I know not what course others may take....But as for myself...GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH. Are we not united in those words? If not, then we are the cowards other countries see us as. Please do not elect a "Trojan Horse" to protect us and our freedom. You say draft but I've seen no reason for one. We have in this great country today, young men so brave that believe in the cost of freedom and they too believe that it takes GOD to Bless America. This fighting amongest ourselves has got to stop. We must be UNITED. It's your choice people...do we give America away or do we fight to keep her. We have many chances to save America but only one to lose her. Again...UNITED WE STAND......DIVIDED WE FALL

        oh that's rich (and semi-literate), Newsweek is clearly playing the race card, there's no reason for them to reference 50 Cents in this article, it is not germane to subject matter . Here it is clearly racist, other instances, not so much. Just because some other people misuse/abuse allegations of racism/sexism to cloud issues or protect unexperienced politicians does not make invalid to call a newspaper when they play the race card

    I'm pretty sure I'm not kidding anyone... AND if you really read the comment, it was regarding about why ANYONE would care who is driving what. The concern is about why the media can't cover other things regarding the people who are running... NOT useless info about "vehicles" Yes, it is actually useless... So... if one of the canidates had, say.. for instance just an old beat up ford pick up that was say... 20 yrs old, would it really make a difference whether or not he/she was able to run the country. OR if one of them had say... more than just the one "vehicle" would it make a difference if he could run the country? I think not. Follow along please in your reading and don't assume I am talking about just one person or trying to back up one or the other.

    I was just wondering why everyone seems to care so much about what type of vehicle the senators are driving around in. Does this have anything to do with whether or not they are able to run the country if elected? Am I to assume that the media can't find anything to report worth while about each one so they have to look to see how many vehicles are owned and driven by each one? For me, I want to know that whoever is elected.... has the ability to run the country, NOT who has more vehicles or who drives what... I don't really care.

    Just curious as to why everyone really cares about what vehicle the canidates are driving and how many they actually have registered in their names. I guess my concern is really who is going to be the best able body to run our country... NOT what kind of vehicle they have and drive around in.

    db17 you're wrong! As a percentage of income the wealthiest have myriad different ways to reduce their taxable income. Barack Obama often sites in his speeches the example of the percentage of income that Warren Buffet pays versus that of his secretary (about half). Of course in pure amount, he makes a lot more, but as a percentage of his income it's drastically less.
