The McCains have bigger family thus need more cars.I know an ordinary couple with 7 cars listed in their name. They have 3 GROWN kids. They have 5 houses too and they are not extravagant people. Aside from food, they just spend on what they think necessary things. How much more for people with a lot of money to spare?

    • Posted By: friendly democrat @ 09/23/2008 12:25:20 PM

these cars were registered to cindy or john mccain...not his kids...

Republican Brilliant Policy, to bankrupt USA faster,{easy come easy go}That goes the old Days where HardWork earned Policy,But the funny part Republican accussed Democrate the other way with blantant lies,Republican Deregulated the Constitutional Law by making legal -tender for appointed "Gamblers" to gamble the fortune on behalf of Public Money at Casino Table.Blame it to the Republican culture that give outsize reward for the rich and success BUT no penalise for the failure. Now the Tax Payers will have to fork out US700 billions to -1 trillion dollars who are ultimately paying for the bailout BUT Lehman brother Boss Richard Fuld gets to keep the US$490 million he EARNED as the (Legalise GAMBLER).

i think that this is a silly topic. What we need to more concerned with is that differences aside we are all American's right? So we need take care of business here at home. We pay our mortgage every month and on time. As a matter of fact we pay all our bills on time. We budget and only spend on necessary items. Granted we have good jobs and provide well for our family. I am offeneded that the government and other institutions don't abide by the same rules as have to apply to John Q Public. No one is going to pay off my mortgage but me. Is that really fair. Why do banks get to hand out all these loans to people that are not finicially responsible. Only to have us the taxpayer bail them out while we still have to pay our mortgage on time every month. Along with the other bills for power and water and gas. Does it really matter how many cars the McCains have and the Obama's do not. Or how many houses they have or do not. We need to elect the best person for the job and I am not so sure either canidate is that great! Our Nation is crumbling and most of our elected officials are sleeping. We cannot have a Godless society and expect it to survive. Rome did crumble as well. I could go on and on but this topic really will not sway anyone to vote for one canidate or the other. Who cares about their cars!

Okay. let's talk about John McCain's policies. John McCain's policies are George Bush's policies, since John McCain voted with George Bush 95% of the time this past year. And George Bush's policies are torture, debt, war, and more debt. Bush and McCain are behind the quadrupling of the national debt and that was before last week, when some estimate that they added another trillion to the national debt. If you love your grandchildren, you pick a funny way of showing it by voting for Bush and McCain, since your grandchildren will be burdened by the Bush/McCain debt their entire lives. McCain, however, won't be burdened. He got those five tax cuts for the rich. Once he's president, he might give himself another five tax cuts. He has stated that he'll likely start more wars and reinstate the draft.

I think it is great to see so many people involved in this process. It is important to talk about the issues. You have your opinion and I have mine. That is what makes this country so great...FREEDOM. We shouldn't attack each other because we support different people. We should commend eachother for being passionate about the process and exercising our FREEDOM to vote our positions. That is why this is the greatest country in the world. No, I am not going to fight my positioins with you. You believe what you believe, and nothing I can say will ever change that, but I am fine with that. No matter who wins the election this country will be fine because we are the United States of America. I respect your position, but I ask that you respect mine too. It's different than yours, not wrong.

      • Posted By: washchadblip @ 09/23/2008 9:13:08 AM

This would be true if I didn't have to pay for your positions, which I will. You're a Bush voter. You enabled Bush to quadruple the national debt. As this recession deepens into depression, this will be due to you and people like you. Real suffering is coming. As far as being the greatest country, that's no longer true. We torture people, like Iran, Syria, and China. We are the greatest, but only in being the greatest debtor nation of all time. If only your Bush-voting and your McCain voting meant that you and your kind were responsible for the national debt, but I'm responsible too and as the recession slides into depression, the gov't won't be there for you and me, since the gov't is far beyond broke.

        • Posted By: t4187el @ 09/23/2008 10:51:46 AM

I am glad you are such an adult about debate. We have different point of views. I respect yours and you only respect people who agree with you. I don't think that is what our sociey is about. You have no idea who I vote for, I don't agree with Obama positions, that is all you know. FYI: before you just recycle the dems talking points about torture make sure they are correct. McCain has alway been against torture, even waterboarding. He spent more than 5 years being tortured in Vietnam while people like you protested the war and spit on our soldiers. He can't even comb his own hair or raise his hands up and cheer because of his injuries. You have no respect or appreciation for those sacrifices even though you disagree with his positioiins. At least I can recognize the Obama's accomplishments, but still disagree with their positions. The Obama's have accomplished a tremendous amount in their life. They have a beautiful family and seem to have given back to their community. I just don't agree with their platform. YOu are attacking me now because my position is different from yours. I thought we had the freedom to respectfully disagree in this country or has that right been taken away too.

Honey, I'm not mad at you. I'm sad, sad at what has become of America due to Bush voters and McCain voters. McCain is just more of the same. And McCain has even waffled on torture.

  • Posted By: snowwhitemother @ 09/23/2008 11:23:49 AM

This is silly topic, McCain is 72 years old and I bet you if Obama is president of USA, he would get 10 times fortune than McCan when he is 72 years old , not mention he would keep selling his books for millions and millions over those years...Wake up and don't be stupid!!

  • Posted By: estherfla @ 09/23/2008 7:36:08 AM

Do you want me to believe that que oil crisis is because Sen. McCain and family has 13 cars? What is the fundament of the wealthy in America? How can you explain how Sen. Obama get millions in 6 years just to be an politician?????? Thanks for let me know, good for them!

    • Posted By: friendly democrat @ 09/23/2008 10:50:40 AM

he sold two books.....it wasnt just from politics obviously....he lived like u and i before the books...he passed on jobs that wouldve earned him 700 thousand dollars to a million per year of years until he wrote his books he was lived just like u and i

  • Posted By: Funrunners @ 09/23/2008 10:25:23 AM

In dangerous waters? No doubt about it. we have gotten to the point that it is not important enough to be the best person for the job, you also have to cute and rich. lol. take a look at some of the great presidents, that were not at all cute and had very little money, Then you will realize they could not even get nominated today. I saw a statement on a Costa Rica website CostaRicaLifestlyes, info that made me realize how far off center we have gotten. I , like millions of americans are not happy with our choices, But then again so many people that care and would be great presidents, would not be interested due to the way we now select our people. On our present course a new party will rise to asnwer the screams of the masses to return to sanity.

  • Posted By: washchadblip @ 09/23/2008 9:52:51 AM

I think the coming bankruptcy of America has a silver lining. America has squandered its wealth and power on an oil war. Instead of defending the Constitution, it "defends" marriage. Half of America's voters vote for the party of the rich and when the recession deepens, only then will they realize that the rich don't care about them, whereas the Dems do, with their focus on education and healthcare rather than war, torture, and "protecting" marriage.

  • Posted By: prophet831 @ 09/23/2008 9:46:46 AM

Republicans are the dirtiest politicians out there - they just hide it because they are friends with the wealthiest people in the world. Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, Bush II - all four have had some sort of dirty money go through their hands - they've all gotten caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Let's not talk about the Clintons - at least they didn't bankrupt a nation, they gave it a surplus.

  • Posted By: prophet831 @ 09/23/2008 9:38:23 AM

You know - using the "don't hurt me because I'm a woman" tactic doesn't really work unless you're a double-standard Republican who slammed Clinton because she was a woman who would be going up against other men. If Republicans pull the woman card - or even the family card (after what conservatives did with Jamie Spears) - then Democrats should be able to pull the race card. It's all fair in politics - especially when McCain is stealing Barack's campaign of change. What is McCain actually changing anyway? I've read his platform and it looks like he's going to make everything George Bush did permanent. How is that reform?

  • Posted By: rbrsol @ 09/23/2008 8:35:23 AM

How is this a close race?

hey your buddies with a (former) known terrorist

yea, well you have 7 houses

Hmm.....you worked with slum lords (rezko), and attended church with anti-american people (wright) as pastor for twenty years.

yea well you have 13 cars and I bet you dont check the pressure every day causing us to pay more for our gas.

Before you say the dems dont play that game all three that were mentioned here...Rezko, wright and ayers were brought up by fellow dem Hillary.

I wonder when the curtain is pulled....Which lever will actually get pulled by the Clintons?

With this kind of article is what Sen. Obama wants to win the Election? Personal attack it is not the issues, in fact will be a negative reaction for unsure voters. Go McCain in Florida!

  • Posted By: t4187el @ 09/23/2008 7:40:26 AM

It is ridiculous to already claim racism in this election. It says a lot about this country that we have finally looked beyond race and gender and have a black and a woman on tickets. Are you trying to guilt people into voting for Obama so they are not called a racist.? How about if someone disagrees with his policies? He could be purple and I still would disagree with his platform. See how I speak about his platform and policies? Whereas the spokesperson for the Obama campaign below, ThePlainTruth, made every personal attack possible and called anyone who does vote for Obama a racist. Make this election about important things like economy, national security, energy etc. and yes, Obama will lose. Not because of his skin color, but because he is on the wrong side of the issues. It is wrong not to vote for Obama because of his skin color, but it is equally wrong to vote for him because of his skin color.

Please don't tell me how John and Cindy earned what they have. Neither one of them has ever worked a day in their life. As for Cindy's humanitarian org. She is a drug addict who stole drugs from her own foundation to support her habit. Her parents staged an intervention. Her husband didn't even notice that she was high out of her mind. And who says John McCain is clueless?

    • Posted By: Mrs. Mingus @ 09/21/2008 7:30:10 PM

Seriously what is the relevance of this story to the article and even to the election. Good grief....look at the skeletons in your own closet or familys closet before casting stones. No on is perfect so get over it and look at the real political issues before our country goes to hell in a handbasket.

      • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/23/2008 4:42:44 AM

John McCain lacks the judgment and temperament to be president of the USA and leader of the Free World. He's a warmongering hothead. Keep him far away from the red button.

  • Posted By: ThePlainTruth @ 09/23/2008 4:32:38 AM

The only thing that Senator Obama has going against him is the color of his skin even though he is half black and half white. He has a model family with no issues. Senator McCain has crashed 5 navy aircraft, was in the bottom 5 of his graduation class of 800+, had numerous affairs on his first wife which is why he remained quiet during the rampage about Senator Edwards, doen't know that Spain is not part of Latin America, can waive and shake hands but uses his POW injuries as an excuse as to why he can't use email, can't give a speach without a paper or teleprompter, picked an VP who can't control her kids, who picks friends to fill positions they are not qualified for, lies constantly, flip flops, lets her husband make decisions regarding policy even though he is not in office...it goes on and on. So this brings us back to the original statement...the only reason Senator Obama will not win is because there are still people in our country who still harbor racist idealogy and perceptions even though they know deep down in their hearts they know they are wrong for doing so. They will have to answer to God one day for that! People of color are passionate and loving people when they are treated equally and anyone that has been around them know that. The white people in the US that are racist and won't vote for Senator Obama/Biden are no different than the radical extremists that they send their sons and duaghters to fight against. They have a twisted socialized perception of a group or nationality of people and they take take their ignorance to the grave! Wake up America.....look at the state of our coutry....it is time to make John Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. words become reality. Give Senator Obama a chance and you will see that not only will the US become and better place the our standing in the world will once again be respected because they can no longer say that the US is a country of hypocrites and racists. I am an American of mixed blood but recognized as an African American. Even though I have been subjected to racism to this day I still don't see color only people. I have been done wrong by people of all color which everyone has so I just leave you with this "When you vote dig deep within you and use your head not your eyes"

  • Posted By: lottapaws @ 09/21/2008 9:04:05 PM

Ironically, Democrats (nor the Main Stream Media) were NOT interested in discussing candidates' houses and cars when John Kerry was runnng for office. I believe the defense was that this was their business and not ours, and that what was Teresa Heinz Kerry's (net worth during 2004 campaign estimated at three quarters of a billion dollars according to Forbes 400 while the LA Times claimed it to be approximately 3.2 billion -that is billion with a "b") had no reflection upon John Kerry. Now that it is Cindy McCain who has inherited wealth, they've changed their positions completely. With John Kerry, we were talking some massive homes, big bucks, but all but one solely in his wife's name or family.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/23/2008 4:19:01 AM

The Bush family is wealthy but the Republicans focused on the wealth of John Kerry's wife. According to Cindy Lou McCain, a spouse's money is not an election issue. Switcheroo, anybody?

    • Posted By: evrm4 @ 09/21/2008 9:33:30 PM

Big difference - John Kerry was not calling George W. Bush an elitist. it IS an issue because McCain and company decided to falsely label Obama an elitist. Now America is seeing the hypocrisy of John McCain, a man with over 10 homes and 13 cars labelling someone with one home and one car an elitist. You can try to twist this all you want, but what this plainly reveals is the duplicity of John McCain and his campaign of lies. There's the saying that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I'm sure McCain actualy has a glass house or three in his portfolio.

      • Posted By: Givemeabreak @ 09/21/2008 10:33:44 PM

No difference at all. In fact, the similarity is remarkable. I don't think you get a pass on your hippocrisy just because you wave your hands and cry, "big difference." I believe it was alleged that Kerry was an elitist - out of touch with the average person. Doesn't every campaing (on both sides) make that argument every year? Classic tactic - "I identify with you, my opponent is out of touch...."

The only "big difference" is that last time you couldn't talk about wealth - because the democrat was wealthier. Now you can bring up money, cause Obama is so "poor." (It's hard to choke that lie out, given his assets). But sure, by comparison, he's not as rich as the McCains. That he's several years behind in earnings shouldn't be mentioned, or it might burst the bubble of your illusion of Obama-as-Robin Hood.

Keep bleating, little sheep, lull yourselves with obamaaaaa, obamaaaaaa.

        • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/22/2008 8:04:01 PM

Sen. Obama has worked hard for what he has and he doesn't live a greedy lifestyle.

Sen. McCain lives a greedy lifestyle, mostly thanks to Cindy Lou's inheritance.

McCain now says that he will 'clean' up Wall Street and the banking industry greed.

McCain thinks voters should overlook that he and Phil Gramm opposed the regulation of these industries and should have known the consequences of deregulation.

Greedy John McCain, a phony, a hypocrite, and a double dealing dope.

  • Posted By: thatchmo @ 09/22/2008 3:30:24 PM

Don't we have more important things to worry about than how many cars a candidate owns? 13, mostly older, everyday cars is nothing. Drive the rural lands of the U.S. or even some of the neighbor hoods in my County and you'll see that many cars on a single property. Stop trying to fan the class envy fires Newsweek. It isn't working.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/23/2008 4:03:11 AM

Nothing to do with class envy. It's about John McCain ranting about Wall Street greed which isn't any worse than McCain greed.

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight ...

    * If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."

    * Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.

    * If your name is Barack, you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

    * Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

*Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

    * Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

    * If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

    * If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive and first in line behind a man in his eighth decade.

    * If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

    * If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and then left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a true Christian.

    * If you teach responsible, age-appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

    * If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

    * If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.

    * If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

    O.K. -- much clearer now.

I imagine if you could see Russia from where she lives, that would make you a "specialist in foreign affairs.....or maybe anything else!! We think that Mexico is a "third world " country. Why are all of you so jealous of McCain/Palin. Michelle Obama is an unattractive woman with a really pathetic personality! Obama is a racist. What about the price they paid for the Obama home and how they got it? They are by no means the poor black people they like to portray themselves as. They make me sick! Liberals make me sick!

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/23/2008 3:39:45 AM

Sen. Obama has never tried to portray himself and his wife as 'poor blacks'. Why would he? The Obamas are not poor. They have worked for top university degrees and deserve to have a nice home.
Their lifestyle is not one of greedy excess.

Unlike the McCains whose greed is mostly paid for out of Cindy Lou's inheritance. Big difference between a man who would work for an education and a man who let his wife's money work for him.

Barack Obama, a man born in America to a white mother from Kansas and African born father is racist?See... this is why people think Republicans are crazy, bigoted, racist, KKK, slavery loving people. This man is the farthest thing from racist. It pains to realize that I have to share air with a obviously dumb person that writes these kinds of things. The hatred that you have in your body is clearly distorting reality for you. Oh and by the way, I will bet 700 Billion dollars that you are white............ Im right arent I?
