I do not care how many cars or homes the McCain's or the Obama's own. I care if they purchased them legally, without special favors being promised or given. Mrs. McCain has a family legacy which has afforded her family a lifestyle we all should be happy for and most would want. John Kerry is not begrudged his wife's family's money and the Kennedy's are not given a hard time for their family's wealth either. Stick to facts that are important to the election and leave the rest alone.

John McCain loves and lives his greedy lifestyle. John McCain's artifical ranting about Wall Street greed is ridiculous when he is so greedy. For many voters, McCain's hypocrisy is very relevant.

Hey at least McCain is not driving around in Mercedes, Land Rovers, and BMWs. So he has 13 cars, well if you had the same amount in your bank account as he and his wife do, lets see what you would be driving?

• Posted By: IndyVoter @ 09/23/2008 1:44:27 AM

True.., but at the same time, I wouldn't be trying to act like I know how people who have to catch the bus because they can't afford gas feel. I don't have a problem with his spending his wealth however he chooses, but don't try to fool me into thinking that you understand what its like to be me, and then try to dog Obama for being an elitist.

LOL is that the best you can do?
How many cars have you got Keith Naughton and Hilary Shenfeld and what does that have to do with being President!
McCain has 1 car regiestered in his name. You might put that at the front of your article.

Save your breath! Obama could be the Pope, the Dalai Lama & Martin Luther King, Jr. reincarnate all rolled into one and they still wouldn't vote for him...sad, but unfortunately true.

If your are so miserable, why don't you leave! I am sure there are many countries that would welcome you with open arms! You might even have freedom of speech to say stupid things! How much have you give to charity? How many children have you adopted. You are absolutely stupid! Leave! Leave! Leave!

• Posted By: ukenuke @ 09/23/2008 1:12:53 AM

That's the level of discourse coming from the mouth of a McCain supporter. You have nothing to say except "if you don't like it, leave" like a 9-year-old child on the schoolyard. You have no defense of the moronic and corrupt McCain/Republican policies that deregulated the financial markets and bankrupted the country, bungled the recovery of New Orleans, completely f$#!ed up Iraq and destroyed our standing in the world. Did you know that 100% of the current $10 TRILLION national debt was accrued under Republican administrations (since Reagan)? It's true: http://zfacts.com/p/318.html

• Posted By: Republi'crat @ 09/22/2008 12:31:55 PM

Abe Lincoln was green behind the ears with the same credentials as Senator Obama, but was wise beyond his years. So Lincoln shouldn't have been the Republican president back then? We might still have slavery had it not been for the him....he inherited a horrible economy back then too....oddly similar times....slaves needing to be freed this times are the ones aware of their situation voting/backing Senator Obama and the slaves voting for McCain that turn around and get it broke off in their rears financially every 4 years by backing a republican....how many times do you have to get hit over the head before you figure out who is doing the hitting.

• Posted By: JLW717 @ 09/22/2008 12:46:51 PM

Doesnt McCain have a lot of children who drive those cars and live in those houses. I'm sure Obama will have more cars when his daughters are old enough to drive. What a stupid thing to get all worked up about. All the actors that worship Obama own tons of cars.

• Posted By: friendly democrat @ 09/22/2008 12:52:26 PM

well in a normal campaign it wouldnt be brought up...but if u pay attention to what is goin on around u, u would understand why it is brought up and i refuse to explain it

• Posted By: JLW717 @ 09/22/2008 12:54:38 PM

Actually I have been following the campaiogn closely.

• Posted By: midwestgrlstl @ 09/22/2008 11:10:27 PM

Any car that is driven or owned by a sitting us senator would be of public record., so yes., i do expect you to believe that Obama only has 1 car. By the way, are you a part of the middle class., b/c if you are your candidate, McCain/Palin never, ever mention 2 very important words. MIDDLE CLASS. c'mon give me some more of the dumbness,., i feed off it

• Posted By: valark @ 09/22/2008 2:44:04 PM

You mean you can't explain it any other than to feed the desire to show McCain as having more money and goods than others. We know this. Its a non-issue. Unless you are jealous or something. But "refuse to explain it", implies there is some intricate underlying dynamic that simply isn't there.

• Posted By: jitterbug_perfume @ 09/22/2008 6:45:48 PM

Hint:
It has to do with McCain's talking points on how "elitist" and "out of touch" Obama is.

• Posted By: JLW717 @ 09/22/2008 12:56:01 PM

I have been following the campaign closley, so don't just assume I am stupid because I don't want to get all whiney about how many cars someone owns.

• Posted By: Sandieggan @ 09/22/2008 11:09:43 PM

Successful person? If by "success" you are implying financial success? McCain's "success" comes from marrying Cindy, who's "success" comes from the "talent" of inheritance. Kind of like Paris Hilton is successful. Well, westmichiganrepublican, this former eastmichiganrepublican (and white to boot) has had enough of republicans!

i cant believe the democratic party would even consider a candidate like obama.with all the hollywood stars supporting him and the bias of the media no wonder our country is in the shape it is in.it also shows your morals

• Posted By: midwestgrlstl @ 09/22/2008 11:06:44 PM

How in the world can Barack Obama control who supports him or not. People that say things like this is the reason why the rest of the world thinks Americans are stupid. Barack Obama did cheat on and then leave his sick wife for a younger, richer, prettier woman. John McCain did., so when you want to talk about the candidates morals;, lets talk about of one the most treasured 10 Commandments that John McCain broke and happily broke on that note. Dont talk with your mouth open, it makes my ears hurt.

Oil went up 16% today. The stock market dropped nearly 400 points. I don't just blame George Bush. I also blame Bush voters and their election of elitists like Bush and McCain. How many more tax cuts will McCain give the rich? Another five? Why not ten?

• Posted By: Jarhead68 @ 09/22/2008 11:30:00 AM

What a dumb idea for an article. John and Cindy McCain are older and have had more time to accumulate wealth. Hussein and Michelle Obama are younger, live in Chicago, where there's lots of public transportation and also do not have family wealth. Comparing how many cars they have is insane. How many cars does Jay Leno have? You can only drive one at a time, right? Let's talk about Hussein's socialist connections and slash and burn, Chicago-style politics. Destroy your enemies, don't debate them. There's a Reaganesque landslide a-comin' and Hussein's a-goin' home.

Yes, we are all really envious of the gluttonous McCains. *rolls eyes* Maybe instead of spending all of their money on houses and automobiles they could donate some of it to charity hmm? It seems they have enough to waste on unnecessary cars and houses. Also, what does Mrs. Obama's looks or personality have to do with anything in this article? You make no points here "Ohio for McCain/Palin!!!!".

Hey Ohio: It may be liberals that make you sick, but it's quite obviously our nation's "conservatives" who have made the country sick. No offense if you haven't the brain to see this, but I guess I'll have to choose the country over you.

The neighbor across the street has 4 people (legally) allowed to drive, and they have 2 SUVs, 1 pickup, 3 cars, 2 4-wheelers and 2 Harley Davidsons. That's 10 modes of transportation.

I myself have 3 cars at my house. One is an SUV, one is a car, and one is my brother's car.

One of my good friends has a car, a motorcycle and 2 scooters.

So what?

McCain and his family worked their butts off to get where they are. Cindy McCain's parents came from nothing and now have an empire.

Who cares how many houses or cars they have? They've earned it... and they give back. Cindy is a known humanitarian long before McCain became a runner for the presidency. That's how she ended up adopting one of her children. she was at Mother Teresa's orphanage when she met 2 girls that needed medical treatment. She brought them both to the US for treatment, helped one get adopted, and adopted the other little girl with John.

Unlike Obama sitting in his million dollar mansion procured with help from an indited slumlord while his half brother lives in a hut in Kenya on less money than a street peddler makes.

The McCains personify greed. John McCain favored the deregulation of Wall Street and the banking industry. Now the country is in a mess and who is suddenly in favor of 'regulating' those industries?

Deregulator John McCain. Can you believe a word John McCain utters? Me either.

• Posted By: wdlivingston44 @ 09/21/2008 8:04:15 PM

As one who lives by himself on a heavily wooded 5 acre tract in rural Colorado I say, "So what?" about John's vehicles. For one thing, I own 3 motor vehicles, a small sedan,a Daewoo, a Ford pickup & a Dodge pickup. I also own two garden tractors. Is there a law that limits me to one vehicle?

To the person who wants to compare John McCain to John Kerry, I'll put it this way: I a veteran of one 12 month tour as a Lieuteant in the 1st Infantry in Viet-Nam, 1966-7; as a Captain in the 101st Airborne for 10 months & three weeks of a second tour,1969-70, until WIA & evacuated on a stretcher intend to vote for John MCain, but I voted against Kerry, for whom I have no respect.

AMEN? Oh, please. How many of you work JUST for the fun of it? NOT! You work to afford the American dream, whatever that is to you. If you can afford it then its your perrogative to purchase it whether its homes or cars or whatever. So I say, leave the McCain's alone. Work hard and spend your money anyway you like, as they do. What a great country this is!

• Posted By: An Average Joe @ 09/21/2008 11:01:08 PM

Of course he can and should spend his money any way he likes - you are correct. BUT - he should not them claim that he is just an "average joe" like everyone else and he should not feign ANY knowledge of economics (since it is obvious he thinks someone making $500,000 is "middle class" and - even in light of the near stock market crash - he thinks our economy is fundamentally sound". I'm sure he has no idea that those BILLIONS of dollars we're paying to bail out Wall Street are being BORROWED them from other countries - making our federal deficit even astronomically higher and the dollar even lower...I'm sure he doesn't quite "get" that either.) Yes, he should spend his money any way he likes. He just shouldn't be President and spend mine.

• Posted By: db17 @ 09/22/2008 12:45:38 AM

Watch out Mr. Average Joe...Prez Obama will spend your hard earned money just the same. In fact, you'll have less in your pocket to begin with, after he raises your taxes to pay for all his entitlement programs. And I guess you think we would have been happier if the economy were allowed to collapse? For sure there is enough blame to go around, but the Democratic controlled Congress did nothing when the SEC regulators failed to stop banks from issuing NINJA (no income...no job...approved!) loans. If I recall correctly, McCain's statement was made before the market posted that 504 pt loss. Up until that day, a lot of us thought the economy was sound enough to weather this storm as it had in the past...and it will. We are all going to have to pay for the reckless decisions of many to make loans they could not afford. You should direct your anger at them. A bailout was the only solution and we are all going to have to suffer the consequences.

• Posted By: tinatuna @ 09/22/2008 1:50:45 AM

Obama will raise taxes for people who make over 250,000 a year. He will lower taxes for 95% of American's. He will raise taxes of the "rich" to the amount that we lower class now pay and guess what...that amount of money will start to fix this country. He is the right choice.

• Posted By: db17 @ 09/22/2008 4:30:04 AM

Yea, Tinatuna! You've got your talking points down "pat"... Tax the rich, Fix a broken country. Your statement about the "rich" paying lower taxes than the average person is just not true. It's called "income" tax...the more income you earn the more you pay. That top 5% (the rich) are already paying close to a 40% tax rate. I guess the likes of you won't be satisfied until the gov takes at least half of what the most successfull citizens earn. Do the math...the highest wage earners have the heaviest tax burden. Nevermind that their businesses provide jobs, healthcare, and other benefits for us 'average' people. We should want them to be successful...not punished by a disproportionatly higher tax rate.

• Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/22/2008 8:45:11 PM

So sad, are the 'rich' getting worried?

• Posted By: USisnotaSocialiststate @ 09/22/2008 10:29:01 AM

Tinatuna, you must be one of the Americans that believe that free handouts is how people should get ahead in this country. This is NOT a socialist country, we're a democracy. Look up the 2 definitions if you don't know the difference. They are very very different. What you and other democrats want is a SOCIALIST country. One where there are programs to help every lazy, oppressed , people, not to mention illegal aliens with a hand out. Hard work, doing whatever it takes to get ahead, taking whatever and however many shifts necessary to get ahead, taking risks, watching, learning, adapting, educating yourself is what gets you ahead, not governement intervention and the government taking care of citizens. Enough of this already. Take a clue from our founding fathers. They worked and worked hard to be successful. Do you think there was welfare our free food or food stamps or programs for poor etc.. back then. NO WAY, People worked to form a DEMOCRACY. It's hard to grasp, I know. Hard work or welfare... quite the quandry. Personally we're UMC , make less than 250k and are already in the 40% tax bracket. Those that make more are easily in the 40-80% bracket. So, I can guarantee that those that make more pay their fair share of taxes. They also employ those that want to work hard. Additionally, they contribute to unemployment and other required state employment programs. If you insist that they be taxed more then potentially business can go under increasing unemployment and the need for yet more people standing in lines with their hands out.....

Oh and just to make very sure you understand .... the socialist country that you are suggesting is a very expensive for ever ycitizen of these great States. Social programs cost money. I know you don't think so because your ignorance in this arena is blatently obvious. I just don't understand how you ( and other Obama supporters) cannot see that programs cost tax dollars. With all the bailouts thanks to the Dems letting every loan be approved regardless of applicants true economic status our deficit is enormous. Do you think aid and program costs will be pulled out of Obama's personal account? No way. It will HAVE to come out of everyones pocket, not just those above 250K. You're a fool if you think otherwise. The economy is far more complicated than you obviously understand. It takes years for changes to show in our economy. Nothing happens overnight. Much of what is happening today is because of what happened under Cinton. Might I suggest a course in economics to better understand what you will be voting for? ISince you are all about programs I'm sure there is some financial aid that you could get to take a night course or even a day course if you have nothing else to do during your days but go get your check from the mailbox once a month.

We have had 25 years of 'trickle down theory". Unfortunately, as this weeks' and years' events have shown, it does not work. The divide between rich and poor is growing astronomically. If you make millions, even after paying thousands in taxes, most of this group still have millions left. Many take great pains to escape taxes with off shore accounts, clever accounting and nontaxable investments. My heart is with the folks who have lost their homes and jobs due to the greed and policies of the deregulators and trickle down enthusiasts.
