You guys really should take a look at what 'American-made' really means. Obama's Ford Escape Hybrid is not considered 'American-made'. Ron Gettelfinger, the UAW president who prostitutes himself in the latest Obama ad about McCain's cars, even says as much in his comments to the Senate Democratic Manufacturing Summit: "For example, although the Ford Escape Hybrid is assembled in Kansas City by UAW members, it has much lower domestic content that a traditional Ford Escape, because the key hybrid components all come from Japan. In our judgment, there is no reason why these components cannot be built in this country." If Gettlefinger can accuse McCain of backstabbing US autoworkers for having a Honda and a Volkswagen - and where were they made and what is their domestic content - then using the same standards, he must accuse Obama of the same backstabbing

but at least its a hybrid rite

This is more media non-sense. The idea of spurring jealously and envy is a media trick to divide and conquer all while trying to attract as many eyeballs as possible. Didn't hear these stupid questions when billionaire John Kerry and multimillionaire John Edwards were running did you?

    • Posted By: jitterbug_perfume @ 09/22/2008 4:27:05 PM

Are you kidding me? Of course we did! I heard more about Kerry's ketchup ties than I ever heard of McCain and the beer biz. . . and Kerry never tried to change laws that would make his ketchup more appealing to the average informed ketchup purchaser (please check out the McCain's desire to keep alcohol percentages unknown, so their crappy beer would appear comparable to micro-brews.)
And the fact about Edwards repeated most often was the highly important details on How Much His Haircut Cost. More than any of his policies, that's what people remember the most.
Get your head out of the sand.

hiraeth, you are not a Democrat and you never were. You are a liar. It has been an old tactic of unimaginative right-wing pigs to say, oh, gee, I'm an independent or, I have also voted Democrat, but............ For the first time since 1980, the Democratic Party has allowed a Democrat to become the party's "standard-bearer." The Republicans have always had Republicans. The Republicans always cannibalize true conservatives though; e.g., Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan............

    • Posted By: hiraeth @ 09/21/2008 1:01:07 PM

Carolyson, is it so hard for you to believe that a true Democrat, as I am, can actually not vote on party lines due to the deep misgivings I have for this Democratic candidate?. Nothing abhors me more that the likes of you , arrogant, and partisan to a fault. Talk is cheap, the only thing Obama does well it seems.

      • Posted By: Citadelgrrl05 @ 09/21/2008 1:18:03 PM

for any democrat (seriously doubt you are..how many points is john giving you) to say such a thing after 8 years of this horrible president..and john mcsame who supported him 90% of time it amazes me how you can come to that conclusion, when mcbush has shown that he will say and do anything to win this election, especially by instituting the same tactics that were used against him in 2000, you are no democrat my friend, oh wait you racist mask is slipping you better pull it back up. Let me guess what you are going to next my friends are black, and i have no problems with black people except blah blah blah, This is the only justifiable reason why a democrat would not support obama they are undercover racist and are scared of a black president, what the hell do you think he is going to do? WAKE UP A***HOLE,, I am tired of yall's phony reasons for not supporting senator obama the TRUTH is finally being revealed. BUT this is not about you this is about our chilkdren and what kind of world we want to leave them, change is going to happen no matter what . If not his election, sooner or little t will, you can get involved and make a difference or you can get left on the sidelines complaining a moaning. It is goign to happen no matter what. If you are drowing and someone tosses you a rope, why does it matter what color that person is.

        • Posted By: hiraeth @ 09/21/2008 1:35:34 PM

CitadelGrrl05 Democrat as I truly am, your rantings have cetainly shown you to be the racist in this dialogue, and where does that ANGER come from? Is it not fathomable for you to understand that there are many people, I am just one, that will not vote for Obama, and wouldn't even if he was white, or any other color. The Democrats have continually played the race card, but it's not working, I'm voting on merit, CHARACTER and JUDGEMENT.

          • Posted By: jitterbug_perfume @ 09/22/2008 4:16:20 PM

            hiraeth,
it you were voting on those three things you listed, your choice would be obvious. . . and it wouldn't be McCain. How much judgment was shown in choosing Palin as next-in-line? Considering that a normal presidency has 20% chance of throwing the VP into the seat, how much higher is that chance when electing the oldest man into the white house? And one whose health has been shaky? How sharp is hismind when he seems to think Putin is the "President of Germany", or that Spain is a country in Latin America, or at very least one which he can't automatically pinpoint as an ally? Perhaps you don't mind if your president is of the same caliber as most average Americans, but personally, and especially after the past 8 years, I would prefer the person in charge to be more intelligent, more in tune and less mentally malleable than the average US citizen. Remember, we're supposed to be electing a leader, not a beer buddy.
That you were ever a democrat is doubtful. . . unless we're talking pre-civil rights. Many republicans are ashamed of the direction this country has taken at their expense. I'm ashamed of people like you who sanction it.

    What is Joe Bidens ride?

    • Posted By: portwes @ 09/22/2008 4:14:23 PM

not sure what his vehicle is, but he's taken the two hour commuter train daily from his home for all of his 20+ years in the Senate so he could be with his family every day, which I don't think can be matched by any other legislator. (so watch the Republicans try to put a negative spin on THAT fact!)

McCain: poor student (5th from the bottom of his graduating class) and "party-boy," anger management issues, dumped his first wife for a rich hottie, admits to not knowing much about economics. The other guy: married to the same woman 19 years. Graduated magna c.um laude from Harvard Law. Taught Constitutional Law at Uof Chicago, was a civil rights atty, then State senator and US senator. But we like the dumb guy.

some people rather die by a familiar hand, than thrive by an unfimilair 0ne
you know B.O.'s accomplishments are enoquous to a person that thinks Bush, Mccain and Palin have a good plan. Friday Bush said he did not think the financial structure was so fragile until one of his advisors told him.

I'm older than John McCain and I don't think I could drive a Cadillac. There is something about Cloth roofs, curb feelers and those bicycle spoke wheels that's a big turnoff :) And I'm not a gangsta rapper either, so the guaddy blingbling Escalade is nothing but a joke to me.

obama graduate of columbia and harvard...people with harvard degrees were once respected by this country...

    • Posted By: neocon @ 09/22/2008 3:57:43 PM

Your right. Coming out of college a degree from Harvard, Yale Princeton et. al would probable get you into and through the first interview. These schools no longer carry the weight and prestige that the Ivy League once did. You can go just about anywhere in the country today and get an education equal to or in some specialty field better than you could hope for from the Ivy League for a whole lot less money. What make the Ivy League special now days is the size of its endowments the quality of its education.

  • Posted By: molten_tofu @ 09/22/2008 12:19:35 PM

    @ justlurkin:

    13/4 = 3.25

McCain and his wife own 3.25 TIMES more cars than you and your husband....

    • Posted By: justlurkin @ 09/22/2008 12:26:31 PM

He also has more income than I do. Did anyone care how many John Kerry had? John Edwards? Bush? You miss the point. There are far greater concerns out there than the number of cars someone owns, but the MSM continually focuses on bullshit like this rather than the important issues.

      • Posted By: molten_tofu @ 09/22/2008 12:57:56 PM

        Here is why it matters:

"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

'On Morning Joe yesterday, McCain manager Rick Davis compared Obama to Paris Hilton. "Barack Obama has become a global celebrity," he said. "I mean, Barack Obama has more fans across the world than Paris Hilton does. I mean, it's just an extraordinary thing. And I don't think anybody would underestimate that." '

        -Rick Davis (McCain campain manager)

"Listen, mayors have the toughest job, I think, in America. It's easy for me to go to Washington and, frankly, be somewhat divorced from the day-to-day challenges people have."

        -McCain

So ahhh... if your voting on the issues, then there's nothing to talk about. In other words: Obama '08. But I want to talk about it more, and more and more, I want to fill up countless forums and comment walls, because there is an un-ending amount of stuff to expose and ridicule about John McCain and every little bit helps. Obama land-slide in 08!

        • Posted By: DreBreMiMi @ 09/22/2008 3:52:57 PM

I agree completely....I just hope that the same people that think McCain-Palin are so wonderful never have a financial crisis, healthcare crisis, a choice crisis (women's right), or God forbid a 3 a.m. crisis that could potentially effect a close family member!!! They need to be careful because they might just get what they ask for!!!!!! With all the other pettiness put aside could you really imagine Palin running this country if something happened to McCain......

  • Posted By: talkradioone @ 09/22/2008 11:02:58 AM

Isn't this the same McCain who left his first wife, who was recovering from a debilitating car wreck, for a trophy wife who inherited a Budweiser destributorship? I guess it's ok since Obama fathered two black children in wedlock.

    • Posted By: rmworthem1 @ 09/22/2008 1:02:02 PM

For starters. It was cancer that she had. I for one can honestly say that I had cancer and left my husband. Cancer can play with your head and your emotions. Did he leave or did she kick him out?

      • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/22/2008 3:49:25 PM

McCain's first wife did not have cancer. Nor did John McCain's 'love of family' which he claims he discovered while in Vietnam did not help Carole McCain. Nuts to John McCain's phony 'honor.'

  • Posted By: jbnewboy @ 09/22/2008 11:20:01 AM

Does anyone even stop to think that maybe some of those cars are his kids cars? Afterall he does have quite a few kids of driving age. Maybe they were bought for them? In all realty......who cares!

As for the "listgirl".........the only reason Obama got into college is because of afirmative action. He played the race card. Ya, thats right. Same for his wife. Thats whats wrong with this country. Everyone thinks they deserve a handout. This is includeds every race, color, creed, religion. You shouldnt get something handed to you just because you were born. Stop all foreign aid, especially to the countries that dont support us! No more welfare unless you take classes for 40hours a week. Then you have a passing grade and pass a drug test to get your check! Dont be fooled America. Its time for change all right...........back to what this country was and not what is has become. I'll take the war hero McCain and a soccer mom ZPalin over a wolf in sheeps clothing Obama and a 36 year washinton insider Biden anyday!!!!

    • Posted By: McBlinky luvs Mooseburger @ 09/22/2008 3:40:12 PM

jbnewboy..yeehaww..just because you barely completed your GED there is no need to be jealous of Obama and how he was able to go to Columbia then Harvard..He got there because he was intelligent enough...dont hate appreciate..oh yeah your make sure you put the sheets back in the window after you are done wearing them..

    • Posted By: e.levon @ 09/22/2008 11:44:20 AM

Spoken like a true idiot... Do you think that McCain's acceptance into the naval academy wasn't affirmative action? Don't think A.A is just about race. its also about privilege. These Ivy League schools and prestigious academies prefer students whose parents give considerable contributions or are of considerable means over someone that can actually make the grade, i.e. McCain graduating at the very bottom of his class. I won't even get started on George Bush's academic record. Tell me that's not affirmative action as well!

  • Posted By: kellyfish @ 09/22/2008 3:02:12 PM

OK- now let's count all of the candidate's radical friends! I wonder who wins....

    • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 09/22/2008 3:39:17 PM

Obama wins the contest of the guy with the most TERRORIST friends.

      Obama KNOWS the MOST FELONS!

Obama knows the most RACIST pastors intimately too!

    • Posted By: rep288 @ 09/22/2008 3:11:49 PM

Define radical and define friend. I assume you are going define them in the republican sense that they have nothing to do with the person other than guilty by vaguely being associated to them. So by those definitions Mccain easily has the most radical friends and those friends just turned this country into a socialistic state for the wealthy.

  • Posted By: bethsnyder @ 09/22/2008 3:36:43 PM

Thatchmo, I think it is appropriate to ask how a man with 7 homes and 13 cars really can understand the reality of the America that his laws help create for a guy who has to choose between putting gas in his car or buying food. That may be why he thinks the "fundamentals" are strong...HIS fundamentals certainly are!

  • Posted By: dally2915 @ 09/22/2008 11:41:24 AM

Who cares what they drive? Do they judge you on what you drive? No. And to obamaforchange, keep your opinions of what you think I am because I support McCain/Palin to yourself. I don't judge you because you support someone who thinks it's cool to have gay marriages and kill unborn babies. And by the way, my reality is completely in touch. War heros and soccer moms will take this country back to the way it should be.

  • Posted By: lauriesarno @ 09/22/2008 11:51:08 AM

Palin drives a gas guzzling Suburban. Also, Looks like McCain doesn't drive any gas conserving cars either! So much for them to help w/ global warming.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/22/2008 3:24:40 PM

Five former Secretaries of State: Warren Christopher, Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright, James Baker, and Colin Powell, told Frank Sesno and Christianne Amanpour, that global warming is caused by mankind, and the USA needs to 'talk' to its enemies.

Isn't this exactly what Sen. Obama is advocating?

    • Posted By: dally2915 @ 09/22/2008 12:03:59 PM

Let me guess.....you voted for Al Gore and his 9 mpg Hummer. And your response, but he wrote a book about global warming....Oh yeah, that makes a difference!

      • Posted By: MelissaNY @ 09/22/2008 12:58:23 PM

And I own 5..1993 Chevy C2500 Diesel P/U, 1995 Ford Escort Wagon, 1999 Chevy Cavalier, 2002 Rexhall Motorhome with a Ford V-10, 2006 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab P/U and to top it off I also own a few toys a small 17' boat with an OMC 2.3L (Ford), and a Suzuki R450 Quadrunner, a Yamaha 350 Raptor ATV, Yamaha TTR-125LE. SO BIG DEAL!! You know what...I EARNED THEM. I worked my ass off for the past 8 years after 20 in the USAF where we owned several different cars over the 20 years that were all but falling apart and to make ends meet living pay check to pay check. So McCain can reap his benefits and so can everyone else that has spilled blood and sweat for this country. Get Over it. No matter if you are a DemoRAT or a RepubiCON.

If the Republicans are going try to use the "elitist" brush on Obama, then don't cry foul when the other side points out that you own seven homes and thirteen cars, which seems a tad bit elitist compared to the rest of us ordinary mortals.
