    ANOTHER BANKING BAILOUT!!!

The U.S. Savings and Loan crisis of the 1980s and 1990s was the failure of 747 savings and loan associations (S&Ls) in the United States. The ultimate cost of the crisis is estimated to have totaled around $160.1 billion, about $124.6 billion of which was directly paid for by the U.S. taxpayer. Remember Keating 5?

Now we have a new bailout? What have conservatives conserved? Taxes for our children for decades to come?

Conservatively helped 4100 Americans die in a 2 trillion dollar war in a land that had nothing to do with who killed 3000 Americans on US soil?
Republicans like to Privatize Wealth and Socialize Debt.

The buck doesn't stop anywhere with Republicans cause they just print more bucks. Republicans are conservative with only three things: Intelligence, thoughtfulness and accountability.

On Nov. 4th, McCain/Palin, "Thanks, But No Thanks". The Democrats get my vote, I decided this years ago.

You cannot reward CROOKS; I think all the top CEO's should be investigated. Why are the resigning when the Gov is going to bail them out???? Seems pretty suspecious to me. Also why can a person who has a mortgage and has closed on that mortgage and then that company turns around and sells it to another company without notifying owner before hand....that to me is illegal and they should be sued...

Listen,a war we never had to have and is costing us tens of billions, and government bailouts that we don't get when we over extend our credit and lifestyles. And when it does come to something important like health care the Republicans dismiss it as to expensive. All I have to say is that maybe Sept. 11th wasn't enough of a wake up call for this country and we ain't seen nothing yet! So get ready for the ride cause this country deserves a course change, AND A BIG ONE! And as far as the political parties are concerned, Forget Them! When it comes to a good fight the Democrat's cut and run! The Republican's,the monied gentry, forget it ,they're heads are so far up thier asses that the only thing that can save us from them is the Rapture! And everyone of them gets taken up to the clouds where their brains already are. Come on J.C. do your thing!
If they are going to bailout all of the investment companies and banks, Then I want my share to pay off my credit bills and then the country can go to...Oh Well!!!!!

I just don't get it. Why can't we just let some of these companies fail?

Loathing is a very mild term for what Americans are going to feel about Wall Street before this whole rape and massacre of the American people as they pay out through ever orifice of their bodies.
All that money is not going to fall from the sky, or get plucked off the backyard trees. It is going to come from you and me in the way of higher and higher taxes. SOMEONE HAS GOT TO PAY! It will not be the geniuses of Wall Street, it will be every average Joe and Jane of every street in America.
So when the Democrats are spewing bullshit about cutting taxes for us, as opposed to the rich, think again. Government can not run and give us citizens all the good things we take for granted, tons of social programs, from the Democrats, and not get taxes to pay for them.
Republicans and Democrats are equally responsible for what has happened. Democrates have been in control of congress, they should have been aware of what was happening, that's what they are being paid for. The Republicans were in control long enough to know what was happening right under their watch, and did nothing.
All of our congress should be taken out and replaced with independents. NOT elected out, just thrown out. What a joke congress has turned into. THEY HAVE NO CREDABILTIY LEFT.

My Dad was hard working farmer/rancher from Colorado. If he were alive he would say why are you throwing good money after bad. That's not a good policy. He would also say, if President Bush and all the wealth folks who got rich from the system, let them put their money up first to bailout the system that made them rich, they the taxpayers might want to match their contribution with money from the U.S. Treasury. And he would agree, that term limits are absolutely necessary, as well as, voting out the incumbents.

Unfortunately you reap what you sow. After the depression many good rules were put in place and the country grew at a steady pace with wealth being distributed evenly, empowering the middle class. Regulation of major industries kept things in check. If we want to return to those days we need an overhaul in our government and our policies. 1) All industries that are critical to our daily lives need to be regulated: think banking, investing, energy, medical and pharmaceutical. 2) Eliminate K street and all corporate lobbying since they're the ones buying our politicians. 3) Enact term limits to prevent politicians from getting too powerful. 4) Bring back the graduated income tax to put a cap on greed. 5) Reign in the military industrial complex.

I live in Connecticut and have driven through Greenwich, where many of the Wall Street Money geniuses??? live. You should see the MCmansions. The last people they think about is anyone but themselves and their bank accounts. Unless we but some some strings to this unbelievable bailout the companies will probably hand out bonuses similar to years past.
Limit executive pay, bonuses and oversite is necessary, especially with this administrations history.

HONESTLY, I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE DOES IT TAKE FOR PEOPLE TO WAKE UP TO THIS "BUSH-ROVE-McCAIN" DISASTER OF THE NATION'S ECONOMIC, DOMESTIC, MILITARY AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS?!?!?

THE REAL BAD NEWS IS THAT THIS $700-BILLION BAILOUT IS JUST A TEMPORARY BAND-AID!!!

WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR PEOPLE TO CHUCK THEIR BIASES AND GO WITH THE BEST LEADERSHIP AVAILABLE?!? AND THAT IS "OBAMA-BIDEN" TEAM.

    [1.] - OBAMA-BIDEN HAS THE BEST JUDGMENT.
    [2.] - OBAMA-BIDEN HAS THE BEST TEMPERAMENT.
[3.] - OBAMA-BIDEN IS THOUGHTFUL AND DECISIVE, NOT RECKLESS & BILLIGERENT AS McCAIN-PALIN.
[4.] - OBAMA-BIDEN (WITH CLINTON CONSULTATION) IS BEST READY TO RESCUE THE NATION'S ECONOMIC DISASTER.
[5.] - OBAMA-BIDEN TEAM HAS THE BEST FOREIGN POLICY EXPERIENCE.

Obama has NO good plan. If he did WE would have heard about it. Obama is so smart he needs a group of advisors and what not to figure it out for him. It's plastered all over TV and the internet. Obama is a spinless cocain abuser who dodged NAM by going to school. He should have went to NAM or at least joined the military if he loves this country so much. I joined the U.S.ARMY a month after my 17th birthday.Obama is a spinless wimp and that's it. Obama turned his back on the USA in time of war before, and now in time of war he wants to be commander in chief.......BECOUSE THE *** DOESN"T HAVE TO GO FIGHT.....he will get to sit in the rear with the gear.....VOTE FOR THAT CRACK-HEAD IF YOU WANT A *** FOR PRESIDENT.

John McShames plan changes from minute to minute, lets go to the tape, shall we.
1990's Keating Five, John McShame is centured by his colleauges. Basically the same mess we aer in know; John then claims he is the great deregulator and embarks on a decade of deregulation with his buddy Phil (I help write the law the caused this mess) Gramm. Monday, McShame says "The fundamentals of our Economy are fine." Tuesday, he wants to create a commission to investigate (gee, that novel). Wedneday he wants the head of the SEC fired (something nobody can do because of the law). obviously he does not what laws are. Thursday, he starts crying we need more regulation. Sunday, he claims on 60 Minutes he did know the one of his advisors recieved a 42 million dollar payout from her company. As for Obama, if you want to slime someone get you facts right, he was too young to serve in Viet Nam. However Dick Chenney and Gee Wiz Bush were not. Tricky Dick recieved at least 4 Student defirments.

to St Germain, Obama was born in 1961. I am almost certain Obama was no more than 12 or 13 when the Vietnam conflict was over.

Just so you might have any chance at getting it let me say this Your STUPID war mongers and IGNORANT REPUBLICANS definitely had a PLAN and that was the WORST PLAN IN US HISTORY. I'll go with Obama just because he can spell his own name, unlike Bush who spells it STUPID with a CAPITAL IGNORANT. Bring on the tar and feathers and make sure there is enough for evry republican politician.

Government involvement in healthcare and Social Security has been demonized by the conservatives and the Republicans for the last 20 or so years. "Lets get government out of the retirment business and healthcare business." Lets dereuglate and let everyone make their own choices was the rule of the day. They did it with the stockmarket and fiancial institutions. The pillard and plundered their way to riches. Now the economy is in a shambles and they want me the taxpayer to bail them out. Sorry, I am to busy paying for my healthcare and retirement to pay for a bunch of selfish and greedy bastards. This is nothing short of "Cry baby Capitalisim."

why did i do the right thing financially? i knew i should have just overspent like everyone else and then let someone else pay for it? LIVE AND LEARN?

  • Posted By: ginamlaster @ 09/23/2008 4:24:01 AM

Okay...they want a bailout? Fine. Let's start with them giving back all that golden parachute money. That's just their bonus money, not the money they made before they were fired and got the golden parachute as a firing bonus. Add up just the bonus money and you've got no more Wall Street crisis. You do realize that this is what this whole bailout is all about don't you? It's to help them keep their bonus money while they pawn off the debt part on us.

    • Posted By: jonnyooh @ 09/23/2008 5:56:28 AM

Add to that golden parachute money a twenty-five percent garnishment in wages of the insufferable morons who voted for Bush twice and are now about to vote for his twin brother..

Well, what can you expect from a system whose very highest expression of moral, social, and religious philosophy is "caveat emptor"?

Any idea or "ism" taken to its logical extreme is insane, from Karl Marx to Adam Smith and back again; we done passed that point years ago ...

  • Posted By: saaphiel @ 09/23/2008 3:36:33 AM

With this bail-out, Paulson has effectively legitimized financial fraud.

If you're not a bank, or a high flying/high earning hedge fund gambler; you get nothing but the middle finger.

You are nothing... you are on your own.

Sucks to be an honest, hard working, tax paying, upstanding citizen earning under $100,000 a year.

Yeah...can anyone say "taxation without representation"? No one asked me if I wanted to pay for a bunch of over priced CEO's failures. Hasn't our country got enough trouble without volunteering what little is left of our common sense to through more and more money down a sink hole? Boston tea party anyone?
