    The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

John McCain is the liar. Selling insurance across state lines does much more than what happened to 'banking'. The credit card industry made that move years back and immediately all the state-level consumer protections disappeared. That's the truth that needs to be expressed. The hidden 'trojan horse' he hasn't mentioned is the crux of it all. The average American will be even more at the mercy to big business than it is now. For the detailed explanation, please refer to the article series entitled: "Paul Revere, but not Robin Hood" at www.ehealthhelp.com/news/2008may/trojan1.html.

On the same line of thinking, I guess IF McCain is in office home owners insurers will finally get a better chance at INCREASING their premiums. Some were looking for up a 50% increase. Let's see how the people who appreciate 'fending for themselves' take on the insurance companies once the government removes themselves from the process.

The economic proposals of Obama dealing with healthcare display a naivete about economics of the health insurance industry. This is unusual because his wife is a hospital administrator with a major hospital in Chicago. In campaign ads and during his acceptance speech, Barack Obama mentions that his mother had to fight with insurance companies during her terminal illness. Barack vowed to eliminate discrimination by insurers. This is doublespeak for banning preexisting condition provisions in insurance company health policies which are the cornerstone of the entire concept of insurance. Health insurance is not like welfare that you can collect if you need it. The economic principle of health insurance is that healthy people pay into the system and only a few draw out. Over a fourth of people in the United States do not have health insurance and many do not have health insurance simply out of choice. People that are in their twenties and thirties and are healthy and may chose to self insure. They are willing to bet that they will no get sick therefore they do not want to pay any premiums. However, if these same people only decide to purchase health insurance when they want to have a baby or a special elective operation or become aware that they have a health condition such as cancer, then the system breaks down. Only sick people will pay into the system and healthy people will opt out because there is no incentive to maintain health insurance. If insurance companies can???t exclude people due to preexisting condition then the rates will become exorbitant for everyone. The rationale behind mandatory auto insurance recognizes that many people are willing to take their chances and drive without insurance.

You are right conceptually. I don't agree with the figures on the amount of people who are not insured, I feel it is more. I also feel more people do not insure because the choice has become insure or pay your bills. and get groceries.

  • Posted By: mccainsupporter @ 09/23/2008 9:16:40 AM

Barack Obama proposal to eliminate preexisting coverage exclusions is like someone without auto insurance having an accident and totaling their car and then going down to the insurance office and taking out a comprehensive policy and demanding the insurance pay for an accident that they had the previous week when they were uninsured.

It is the same principle as life insurance. If you try to buy a new life insurance policy when you are 100 years old the premium is significantly different then if you are six years old. If the premiums were the same for a new policy for a 100 year old person as a six year old person then the whole system would fall apart. No one would buy life insurance until they turned seventy.

Similarly eliminating preexisting conditions exclusions will destroy the economic business model of medical insurance. People will only opt in when they get sick. Insurance insurance does not operate a straight flow system. It is based on the risk principle and there has to be risk in order for the model to work.
Michele Obama the wife of Barack Obama works for a hospital and it is amazing that Barack Obama would run ads complaining about insurance company refusals to insure based on preexisting condition. It demonstrates that his lack of understanding of economics and simple business practices.

Sorry to disagree, but as a nurse who worked for an HMO for 5 years, pre-existing condition clauses are a huge part of what is wrong with the health care in America.

Time and time again, we saw clients who, because they had no health insurance, didn't get the care they needed. They didn't take care of their diabetes because they couldn't afford the supplies to check their blood sugar.

When they became employed, they waited the 18 months required by law, and then sought medical care for their diabetes. And had all kinds of complications which cost the insurance company twice as much to address than if we had just paid for the diabetic supplies and meds in the first place.

We saw this constantly, with so many chronic conditions, that we did a cost comparison, sent it to the CEO, and amazingly, he saw the math for what it was and elimnated pre-ex!!!

The problem is - good health care should be preventative in nature, and in our present system, it isn't, it is based on risk, as you point out. Risk is how you manage a for-profit business - but health care is about health. Or should be.

But in America, we have sick insurance - you only use it when you get sick. We won't keep America healthy that way.

And as a nurse, health care is - or should be - all about keeping people healthy, NOT about making a profit.

It is instructive to note that the American Nurses Association has endorsed Obama.

      http://www.nursingworld.org/FunctionalMenuCategories/MediaResources/PressReleases/2008PR/ANAEndorsesObama.aspx

The American Medical Association and the American Hospital Association have no endorsement information on their websites.

Obama is quite well versed in the present system, and understands just how dysfunctional it is.

Fee-for-service showed us that doctors make lousy businessmen.
Managed care showed us that businessmen make lousy doctors.

McCain wants to keep health care a business. Doing is his way, there will be profits.
      But nobody will be healthy.

Obama wants people to be healthy.

It amazes me that Barry supporters love factcheck, when McCain says something wrong. Then condemn it as biased if they say anything bad about Barry.
When will you people realize Barry is a politician first, last and always. He is going to lie, cheat and steal to get elected. He is no Messiah. He won't heal the oceans. He won't fix the economy. He will get us into more wars.

your comment is without merit. on a policy basis, tell us where these comments are in error. factually, was there anything wrong in the Obama add as to what McCain said?

  • Posted By: ShannonBarber @ 09/23/2008 2:30:54 AM

Wow, reading over everyone's comment's its stunning how many concluded the same thing - McCain + Health Insurance = Just Like Credit Cards. It doesn't take a "policy expert" to see the most immediate consequence is comparable to the Republican banking deregulations.
"Out of Context on Health Care" article is Fail.

The Federal Government under President Bush, and the Republicans in Congress, have already deregulated MediCare, from oversight by State Licensing Agencies and their Patient Protective Services Departments.

The example I am documenting below to support my claim is California based, but has also occurred in many other states under the save Executive, Legislative, and Judicial powers under the supervision of the Republican Party. I do not want to solely blame only the Republicans, because the Democratic Party also had responsibilities to take a strong oversight position as the minority party. The Democratic Party could of used their highest level of minority powers to Filibuster in the US Senate.

Prior to President Bush taking office in 2000, all California HMO Patients (including MediCare Advantage Plans (HMO)) had access to the California Department of Managed Care. Previously it was easy for a California MediCare HMO Patient to get help, when having to challenge a denial or grievance dealing with their assigned MediCare Advantage Plan insurance company. If they were unable to get their insurance company to correct the problem they then could call the California Department of Managed Health Care (CA-DMHC), for their HMO Patient Center???s Helpline. The CA DMHC has Licensing and regulatory responsibilities over the HMO Insurance companies and their contracted providers under them within the state of California. Their HMO Patient Center???s Helpline has a very fine reputation of helping all their HMO clients that call them for assistance. However, within the past 8 years this agency received orders from the Bush Administration to no longer help any Senior or Disabled MediCare HMO Patients anymore. This was done with help from the Bush Justice Department working for the Health Care Corporation and not protecting MediCare Patients. I can provide a copy of this reference documentation; (DMHC Order No. S-01-803, Order under Section 1344(a) of the Health and Safety Code Rescinding Prior Order of the Director)

The Bush Administration did not stop there, they also had Republicans in Congress to place new regulations in their MediCare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act to deregulate any State from providing services to any Senior or Disabled MediCare Patients. Nothing was put in place of these state agencies to take over these protective services that the states were previously handling for their state residents under they state licensing agencies. I can provide a copy of this reference documentation; MediCare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act Subtitle D - Additional Reforms, and under it Sec. 232 Avoiding Duplicative State Regulations covered under (42 U.S.C. 1395x-26(b)(3)).

Looks right on point to me too. This deregulation McCain speak of will help the insurance companies not us.
He's basically saying States will have NO SAY in how insurance is regulated. Not a very conservative stance to take stripping away State's rights. Health insurance will be like your credit card - incorporated in whatever State has the most forgiving laws in their favor.
