sadamerican2008: following your logic, then men who don't wan their spouse/partner to carry the child to term and live birth should also have the right to say no. it's my wallet and i specifically did not want a child in my life.

    • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 09/23/2008 10:54:52 AM

Then use your wallet to purchase condoms or a vasectomy. You can certainly exercise your right to say "no." That's why its called "choice."

Just looking at the stats on violence against women tells me the state does not care about protecting women. Our possible new VP decided to charge rape victims for their rape kits in the state of Alaska which has the highest rate of sexual assault. Outrageous that people will still vote for her. the state of Nevada, where women are a legal commodity, has a serial killer on the loose and I think they should be forced even more so, to protect women especially since they benefit from their exploitation. Because women bear the responsibility, often alone, to raise children, no person can judge these women for their choice. If you want to send them pampers and give them health insurance maybe you can make them slaves of the state, forcing them to give birth, breeding poverty and soldiers of course. Margaret Sanger understood the challenges women face, here's a quote by her....................

War, famine, poverty and oppression of the workers will continue while woman makes life cheap. They will cease only when she limits her reproductivity and human life is no longer a thing to be wasted.

      Julie
Your point is well taken, it really is. There is no doubt that women are being abused all over the world, not just in America. It is so so so so sooooooooooo wrong and should be stopped. Margaret was wrong though when she said that "They will cease only when she limits her reproductivity and human life is no longer a thing to be wasted." This kind of destruction of the feminine wonders and treasures of womanhood will only be stopped when men get educated how they are to honor and protect women. It will not be stopped by ripping the bodies of their Preborn children to peices for a price with little to no emotional support to offer after it is done. All the things Margaret stated to be abhorrible are, there is no question about it. However the answer to solving all those terrible things is not to kill another human being, let alone a defensless and harmless one. It has to come back to one question, what is the Preborn or the Unborn? The answer is, it is a human being, a seperate and valuable life with human rights.

The unborn cannot be a "life" as without its mother it cannot survive. It is much like a parasite. This is a horrible analogy - I know.

        • Posted By: wifenmother4evr @ 09/23/2008 10:53:09 AM

A parasite? I must point out that your argument is really an invalid one. A newborn infant would soon die if no one were to care for their needs as well. Yet, I simply cannot recall anyone referring to my precious child as a "parasite". So, what you are trying to imply is that a child who is wanted is a child but a child who is unwanted is a parasite. I loathe to think of your views of all the children in this world who are unwanted. You must feel surrounded by mere "parasites" at times. A child is a child and that is that. People, however, will do what they have since the beginning of time and try to rationalize their selfishness in any way they can. If murder of human being is wrong then it is universally wrong. Stop bending meanings to accomplish your twisted goal of ripping a child limb from limb. If you can't deal with the "consequence" of a child then you need not have sex--plain and simple. Don't act on your lust if you cannot bear what the outcome may be. Are we so selfish, egostistical, and self-consumed, that we can think of no life but our own?

I don't know why this is even an issue - in fact it's a non-issue. What the "christians" fail to recognize is that abortion is legal...even though they have implemented every measure possible to make it more difficult to get. It's a moral issue and moral issues cannot and should not be legislated. Women should have cheap, easy access to birth control, morning after pill, as well as education. There isn't a male on the planet without the ability to walk away from a pregnancy - so why do the mostly male lawmakers have any say at all?

    • Posted By: beaglesrock @ 09/23/2008 10:50:09 AM

EXACTLY! You can't legislate morals or push your morals or values off on others

  • Posted By: getthepoint @ 09/23/2008 10:47:38 AM

cariovascular...........hmmm...... they should offer a sex aerobics class at the Y

  • Posted By: getthepoint @ 09/23/2008 10:46:26 AM

heroine causes happines too, and so does cocaine and marijuana... and you have a good time bonding with your buddies......... the addition thing......well, that's just something you'll have to deal with, because saying no is ridiculous..........

I hear the word "Pro-Choice" batted around often. I also understand that there are SOME cases where rape, incest and the life of the mother are at stake; however I do not believe these account for the majority of abortions. What I am puzzled by is that every woman has a choice. How can a woman have unprotected sex and not realize the potential outcome of a BABY. Pro-Choice means you have the right to choose to have sex or not have sex, not end the life of a heart beat. I have friends that are against the overturning of Roe v. Rade. They get outraged at the pictures of aborted babies, but the reality is that is a heartbeat that was ended. Why would we endorse or promote this as a society????

    • Posted By: beaglesrock @ 09/23/2008 10:43:55 AM

Lets remember that no all unwanted pregnancies are due to unprotected sex. Many time contraception fails

      • Posted By: rossj @ 09/23/2008 9:37:15 AM

I think you meant that for me Weapon "X". I am planning on adopting two children, a sibling group ages 7-13.

...Sorry, wasn't supposed to post that many times, and not to you... I'm still new at this computer thing. But I commend you for adopting, I believe that is a noble event. All children born into the world should have a chance to grow up and be as spoiled as I was growing up.................................................................................

let's try this one that the left loves to cling to.........
some animals eat thier babies....that's what happens in nature, and it seems to be an effective way for them to cull the herd..........
maybe we should let mothers eat thier babies...........works for nature.............

If these poor undeducated types can't afford birth control, where are they getting the money for make-up, fast food, lottery tickets, cigarettes, and beer?

    start accepting that advise

      Advice without consent is tyranny, but thank you for putting an unreasonable face on the anti-choice crowd. It really helps the status quo! :}

Well I don't think it's that hard to explain. Girls 18-19 have more abortions? They've probably started college, and don't want to drop out and have a baby. Plus, if I understand correctly there seems to be a thing among teen girls to have their babies instead of an abortion, I guess it makes them feel grown up. Compare this to a twenty-something who's already been there and done that, and knows just how hard it is. Another thing not mentioned is the cost of having a baby is pretty high. You've got months of prenatal checkups and vitamins, plus the real possibility that you won't be able to work for the last few months, plus all the stuff you need to BUY for a new baby, and finally the actual costs of labor and delivery. $5,000 easily, vs. a few hundred for an abortion and you can keep working. It's a sad but true fact, which explains why the more advantaged women have lower abortion rates.

  • Posted By: getthepoint @ 09/23/2008 10:25:30 AM

in fact it does work...........for those who work it..........

    • Posted By: rogerhall @ 09/23/2008 10:27:11 AM

      Excellent advice!

      Now what should the rest of the people do? :}

  • Posted By: getthepoint @ 09/23/2008 10:24:58 AM

it would work well, and nobody would ge t hurt....nobody

  • Posted By: getthepoint @ 09/23/2008 10:24:21 AM

it would work though, even if it seems unrealistic...

  • Posted By: TfromSlovenia @ 09/23/2008 6:04:27 AM

One problem is that all their lives women have been taught that this is a mere matter of choice. Without really examining the issues, without really looking at the advances in medicine that show what is actually in the womb, the issues of finances, relationships and mere bother seem more daunting than the moral realities of what happens in abortion at any stage. Graphic images such as on www.abortionno.org are ignored or shunned as if they have no validity at all, as if these images don't reflect any reality. It's time to take a second serious look at the reality of what abortion is. The rhetoric war of "choice" was won long ago. Maybe only those shicking images of baby body parts will help people to recognize the horror that we seem to accept as a "right."

    • Posted By: MaHen10 @ 09/23/2008 10:22:54 AM

I totally agree. But the "pro-choicers" don't like to look at images that show the truth. They'd rather close their eyes and pretend what they are doing is okay. The best for THEM. Never considering they're not the only human involved.

Anti-Abortion Laws are Discrimination against woman???s Rights
How can anybody allow filthy old men, usually in there 60???s and Republican, to decide what???s good for our daughters?

If you say it more, it will be realistic.......it only seems unrealistic because it is not what is being said......
what is being said is that women are not smart enough to know better

  • Posted By: jenks449 @ 09/23/2008 9:02:22 AM

I don't want to hear a damn thing about how evil abortion is until men are held just as accountable as women are for children. For every man who states he cares for women, there are so many who don't. When society demands that fathers care for their children, then the need for abortion will plummet. Men who abandon and refuse to pay for the care of their kids are on every socio-economic level. If all of the right to lifers would spend their time and resources picketing the offices of men who don't pay their child support instead of shoving pictures of torn up fetuses in women's faces, we might see some progress. I don't know a SINGLE women who WANTS to have an abortion. If men were vilified for having children outside of marriage, if men were held accountable to society for not taking care of the women they have sex with, if men had to deal with total strangers giving them grief for the choices they have made, then we might see the need for abortion drop.

It's interesting that there are no comments here about the fathers of these children. Being flippant and saying "just don't get pregnant in the first place" doesn't fix the problem. Give all women excellent health care, support women with resources and moral support if they are taking care of children alone, make sure that all children are well educated, have excellent health care, are well fed and you erase 99% of abortions.

This discussion is just more of the same crap. It's interesting how most of you people have no problem telling someone how to live, but you don't want to be bothered to support them. You CANNOT invoke only one part of the bible in your discussion. If you believe that 'thou shall not kill", then you have to believe that men have to take care of their families, that women are to be honored, oh, and children are the responsibility of the entire family and COMMUNITY.

If you espouse it is wrong to kill an unborn child, then where are you when a child dies of starvation? Of neglect? Of abuse? Where are the obnoxious and vocal picketers for that? Where are the horrifying pictures and billboards for that? Where are the indignant Newsweek articles on that? Where are the "strong Christian men" on those discussion boards!?!

You can't have it both ways. If you sit on your ass and complain, you are part of the problem. Step up or SHUT UP!

    • Posted By: Weapon "X" @ 09/23/2008 9:25:04 AM

Could not have said it better myself. Not very many of these outspoken "pro-lifers" have ever volunteered at an orphanage or adopted kids. All they do is try to tell other people how to live, yet do nothing to make the world better for kids that are going to be born. MOST Pro-Lifers are just angry hypocrites, armchair warriors who are very vocal but severly lack in the action department.

      • Posted By: eagle575 @ 09/23/2008 10:21:28 AM

jenks, men are held accountable-if not by marriage to support the child, then usually by court ordered child support.

now following your logic, if a woman can decide whether she wants to keep the baby or not, why do not men have the right to say they had no interest in a child, therefore why should they support it. (before you bring out the contraceptive argument, remember, the pill is only 96-98% effective, condoms about 85-90%, and all others somewhere in between).

      • Posted By: MaHen10 @ 09/23/2008 10:17:37 AM

And how about you? Are you volunteering to suck these babies into a sink for the overstressed doctors (probably, GASP, a man!!). Go burn your bra, stop blaming men for your monthly bill and get a life. Abortion is just murder. No sugar-coating that one sweetheart.

      • Posted By: eagle575 @ 09/23/2008 10:12:43 AM

wrong answer weapon x. they work - i should say volunteer - at pregnancy crisis centers to connect pregnant teens with adoptive families, sometimes their own, and other support systems. you don't have a clue what you are talking about. most times these adoptions have to bypass the courts because of the crap of groups like planned parenthood, which uses the courts to stop adoptions of women counselled by pregnancy crisis centers.

a hammer on your head causes pain.......suggestion.....dont do it

sex causes children.....if it's too painful.....dont do it

    • Posted By: sadamerican2008 @ 09/23/2008 10:20:24 AM

      Nicely and clearly stated!

  • Posted By: Jack 8590 @ 09/23/2008 10:20:08 AM

    getthepoint -

You trivialize the issue by saying "don;t do it." While abstinence is noble, kids are maturing earlier and getting married later. I do not think it is realistic to say "don;t do it"

    Just trying to be realistic...
