Every one needs the bailout. politicians have forgot about the citizens. What about us. I believe feds should address our concerns. Corporate world is not going to help us. Average person is in dire need with no job, debt problems. In order to solve the problem and jump start the economy government should give out money to the consumers to pay off their debt and go buy products and spend the money to buy cars.
Imagine what an impact that will have. Corporate fat cats all they are going to do is pocket and take care of their retirements. Automakers will come back for more, credit companies and banks would come back for more.
By helping circulate more credit politicians are encouraging us to go more in debt. This is not the way to solve the problem.

I HAVE AN IDEA, IF THE GOVERNMENT HAS THAT MUCH MONEY LAYING AROUND TO BAIL OUT WALL STREET, WHY DON'T THE GOVERNMENT GIVE EVERY MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY 500 THOUSAND DOLLAR TO PAY OFF THEIR DEBTS, THEN THE MONEY WILL BE RIGHT BACK IN THE ECOMOMY AND THE AMERICAN FAMILIES WILL HAVE NO DEBTS AND EVERYTHING WILL BE BACK ON TRACK, INSTEAD THEY WANT TO TAKE OUR TAX MONEY OUR RETIREMENTS AND ANYTHING ELSE THEY CAN POSSIBLY SQUEEZE FROM US AND MAKE US PAY FOR ALL THE BIG SHOT CEO'S WHO ARE MULTI MILLIONAIRES A FEW TIME OVER AND ARE LAUGHING AT US

Regardless whether Americans have money to spend, it would not ease the fundamental problem of the economy. Many Americans have stakes in these companies, either invested in these markets or hold jobs in those professions. Many Americans have retirement invested in companies that depend on the flow of money. No one wants to approve this historic bailout, but business would fail without it. Banks are reluctant to lend to each other. Considering that our country thrives off credit, "freeing" up the credit market is the first step to mend the problem. People should look at every aspect in the economy. I am a Finance major and the system is a lot more intricate than most people know.

That way of thinking is what got us where we are today. Most people can't handle money any better that those on wall street. Everybody wants instant gradification and most are not willing to work for it. No one put a gun to these peoples heads and made them buy homes they could not afford. They ask for the money and they got it. No one made them use credit cards they could not pay the balance on. My husband drives a truck and I am a LPN and we don't make 100,000 a year but we paid for a 100'000 home in 5 years and no one gave us anything. We worked for every dime. We also bought our daughter a home and paid cash for it and now we hold the morgage, not a bank.I just bought a Pius and paid cash for it and the whole time we are doing this we are raising twins. So how do we do it. Very simple, I still cook at home we rarely eat out. The cost of one meal for all of us at a restraunt will feed us for a week. We rarely rent movies, it's not a necessity. We don't hang out at the mall spending money on things we don't need. we mow our own yars and pull our own weeds and the exercise we get means we don't have to join a health club to keep from getting fat. And as for all these finacial advisiors who have predicted all of this down fall, maybe they at some point in their life picked up a bible and read the book of revelation. It's all right there, evrything that is happening today was fortold and put down in writeing thousands of years ago. Is it going to get worse? You bet.! Lots worse. Can it be stopped? Not according to the bible. Maybe slowed but not stopped.Am I some religious fanatic. Nope, haven"t been to church in months.Don't plan on going tommorow. Don't agree with the way churchs teach the bible these days. AM i old, no, I am in my 40"s. Further more evry CEO that had a hand in this mess should have to spend a few years in jail and should have to repay at least part of this money back. But the people who bought homes they couls not afford and spenyt money they didn't have need to look in the mirror and she the one who's realy to blame for their mess. Stop blaming Bush, He's not great and I don't agree with half he does but he did not cause this mess. We the people did this to our ownselves. Nor is McCain or Obama either one gona get us out of it. Neither one of them have ever been poor so they can't possible know how the working class feels. Neither one has ever had to tell their child no because the moneys not there for that candy bar their begging for. McCain is more of the same of the last 7 years and Obama is just good at using words but he never realy gets to the core of anything. And quite frankly a lot of his ideas are just plain not workable but he is targeting a lot of people who don't have basic finacial skills anyway and won't see that the line he's feeding them is hog wash. I might just stay home on election day because there is realy no one I want to vote for.

That's an excellent idea, but that would take away from all the big shots. Plus all us lower to middle income folks are nothing more than just a pawn in their game.

Capitalism requires consumers. Under current political guidance -- tax incentives to ship jobs overseas, the collection of wealth in the hands of the few and deregulation to the point of corruption. From Obama's website and speeches, he doesn't want socialism -- but he does want a fair shake for the workers. Why should CEO's make hundreds times more than the workers. Was the CEO of Bear Stearns really worth a half a billion dollars? Why should the top 1% see double digit increases in their standard of living while the other 99% see 1% gains or less. That is not socialism people. That is fairness. Since when does wanting jobs for Americans count as socialism? All Obama wants to do is roll back the tax breaks that Bush put into place. Can you really say we're in a better place economically with Bush's tactics (or did you not notice that the debt clock ran out of digits?)

Why are all of these "disadvantaged" people fat? Most of them look like they could stand to skip a few meals.

Obama's view of the future of America - Socialism which is the next step to Communism!!

Under socialism a ruling class of intellectuals, bureaucrats and social planners decide what people want or what is good for society and then use the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax, and redistribute the wealth of those who work for a living. In other words, socialism is a form of legalized theft.

The morality of socialism can be summed-up in two words: envy and self-sacrifice. Envy is the desire to not only possess another's wealth but also the desire to see another's wealth lowered to the level of one's own. Socialism's teaching on self-sacrifice was nicely summarized by two of its greatest defenders, Hermann Goering and Bennito Mussolini. The highest principle of Nazism (National Socialism), said Goering, is: "Common good comes before private good." Fascism, said
Mussolini, is "a life in which the individual, through the sacrifice of his own private interests??realizes that completely spiritual existence in which his value as a man lies."

Socialism is the social system which institutionalizes envy and self-sacrifice: It is the social system which uses compulsion and the organized violence of the State to expropriate wealth from the producer class for its redistribution to the parasitical class.

Despite the intellectuals' psychotic hatred of capitalism, it is the only moral and just social system.

Capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders--that is, as free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent.

Capitalism is the only just system because the sole criterion that determines the value of thing exchanged is the free, voluntary, universal judgement of the consumer. Coercion and fraud are anathema to the free-market system.

It is both moral and just because the degree to which man rises or falls in society is determined by the degree to which he uses his mind. Capitalism is the only social system that rewards merit, ability and achievement, regardless of one's birth or station in life.

    Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient. [What about the role of luckbeing in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time? R. R. Pope}

Capitalism is the only social system that rewards virtue and punishes vice. This applies to both the business executive and the carpenter, the lawyer and the factory worker.

This is ridiculous. You are asked to comment on how you are angry over the economy and the bailout, and yet all you do is push Democratic and Republican talking points. Please Use your own head, and your own judgment. Stop regurgitating the rhetoric of the talking head in the media, both conservative and liberal.

The economy is in shambles because we let it. Don't blame corporate greed and politicians solely for the problem. We are spending more than we make, borrowing without saving, and buying what we want and not what we need. All of these things contribute to the problem. I am angry that it has taken this long for people to realize the mess we were getting ourselves into. The economy will recover when people stop letting anxiety control them and allow themselves to live within their means.

The bailout package was never going to be the best solution. You have people who disagree on what the bailout should look like and who it should help. Couple this with politicians who are only concerned with re-election or how they can blame the other party and you have a recipe for a bailout plan that is not as comprehensive as it should be and is nothing more than a politically correct band-aid that will need to be changed later down the road when they see what does and does not work. At least we have something to stop the hemorrhaging. Hopefully, it will work well enough for control and stability to take root and we can move forward to recovery and not play the blame game.

Yes McCain has agreed with Bush on a lot of things but Obama has actually agreed with Bush on more and based on his public pronouncements, it???s Obama that SOUNDS more like a Bush 3rd term than McCain. Obama has endorsed Bush???s faith based initiatives which are clearly unconstitutional, endorsed Bush???s position on Iraq (let the commanders on the ground decide); now says he supported the surge, reversed himself on off-shore drilling so his position is now more Republican, reversed himself on the DC gun ban, and has said that ???the Republican Party is the party of ideas
McCain on the other hand, has broken with Republicans when his conscience told him to. He has incurred the wrath of Rush Limbaugh and conservatives over his position on illegal immigration, daring to take a more humane approach, and before that, incurred the wrath of many in his party with the McCain-Feingold bill in which McCain joined forces with one of the Senate???s most liberal Democrats to pass campaign finance reform. And sticking to that philosophy, is campaigning using public financing. Obama, who pledged to use public financing, reneged on it as soon as he became the nominee, leaving MoveOn, Maureen Dowd, and editors across the country feeling used and with tears on their pillows.
Like it or not, the record shows McCain is the real reformer and the real deal, while Obama is what most of the 18 million Democrats who voted against him know him to be ??? a snake oil salesman who has managed to bamboozle a lot of dumb, impressionable people. The Democratic ???Mr. Goodbar??? has dumb media blonds like Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and almost everyone at Newsweek, the NY Times and CNN eating out of hand.
The other thing to keep in mind about McCain is that he is rated last by conservative groups in supporting conservative legislation. His voting record is ranked 49th among Republican Senators by conservative watch dog groups, which is why a lot of conservatives can???t stand him. In other words, disaffected liberal Democrats who can???t possibly in good conscience vote for Obama could do a lot worse than bringing McCain home to mother.

On July 28th, the day after his speech at the Democratic convention catapulted him into the national spotlight, Barack Obama told a group of reporters in Boston that the United States had an ???absolute obligation??? to remain in Iraq long enough to make it a success.???The failure of the Iraqi state would be a disaster,??? he said at a lunch sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, according to an audiotape of the session. ???It would dishonor the 900-plus men and women who have already died. . . . It would be a betrayal of the promise that we made to the Iraqi people, and it would be hugely destabilizing from a national security perspective.???In late winter, 2008, on the campaign trail, Obama says he wants to bring the troops home yesterday ??? you decide ??? was he lying then or is he lying now?

The last true democrats were Roosevelt, Truman, and Kennedy. Today the Democratic Party has become taken over by distorted closet socialists. These socialists are very powerful rich people that only represent a small group who control all the communication puppet strings. These socialists have strategically infiltrated the media and Hollywood, because they know controlling communication fuels their cause with strategic and specifically directed propaganda. This propaganda targeted communications, inspiring people with an evolving message key to socialistic successes. Human behavior has no natural defense against this strategy. We are witnessing these socialist phenomenons today. Our republic is in great danger, socialistic governments don't work, and history is full of countless examples of this fact. The socialistic government makes a few people powerful and the rest left over must pay for this power. You and I will fund their power, and we will have no choice, ???taxation without representation??? becomes the accepted normality, welcome to the Obama new world order.

And Ayers aside -- what about Obama's nice, cozy family?? Obama's sister-in-law is the niece of Mohammad Taha, who is the Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip and the head of the militant branch of Hamas that has a controlling part in the Al Aqsa Mosque red Brigade and is the one who orders the firing of rockets into Isreal.

WOW Cani Have you even investigated Obama? Obama understands nothing but what his radicall cronies in chicago have taught him. He is the most liberal lefist eveer to run in. Even Clinton gets tongue tied when trying to talk about him. First of all, OBama's people keep hammering away at McCain being like Bush, when doind that they show how ignorant they think people are. And if they vote for Obama, rightly so. Does anybody here know what heppens when the Democrats carry the majority in the house?
Also, Pelosi , Dodd, and Frank make a great team. Who do u think started this whole mess? Many repblicans, including McCain, have gone on record, trying to stop the mess we are currently in. If Obama gets in office, then the democrats will wreak havoc on the whole country with their liberal spending and laws.
Obama has shown absoluetely no loyalty to this country, not even wanting to salute when the national anthem is sung. Im amazed he has made it so far. I agree with Trazer, things in the housing werent that bad; the govt with the liberal dems. created it and made it this way. Also, its kind of creepy that things have gotten so much worse as we approach the elections. hmmm
If you think some arent pulling strings, youre very naive and deserve to be under a socialistic rule like Obama plans to introduce to America. But what they heck,,,,,, it worked so well
    in foreigh coutnries right????

The WWI/WWII generation who lived through the depression are leaving us for "a better place". 99.5% of all Californians today are fine with their mortgage and making regular payments. 0.05% of reckless investors and people who were not able to figure out what they could pay are causing us all to work harder and pay more taxes to bail them out. This is NOT - again NOT - a depression.

  • Posted By: trazer222 @ 10/13/2008 12:14:57 AM

Obama does not support the baby boomer - the one who plans to retire in the next 8 years while he is in office. While they work each day, their taxes will be lower than the "Reagan Years". If you read the fine print on Obama's plan he plans to take away the tax cut we now see in our pay checks. We have saved in 401K plans and Obama plans to INCREASE the tax rates on all the baby boomer savings when they use the $.

There is one thing that I do not want to hear from Wall Street, politicians, the private sector or the President and that is , now the American people must make sacrifices. All these free market zealots who have told us since Reagan that we shouldn't rely on government are lining up for bailouts. This 19th century free market economics has bankrupt every country in the world.. Wall street is the new center of organized crime in America. How many of these companies that we are bailing out have billions in offshore banks?

All tha t happened to our economy is due to greed for money that the CEOS of big corporations , politicians, and the american people as a whole. We want more even though we don't have the money to accomodate what we need. We spend more than what we earned and where do you think we are going to get the money? Borrow it from the outside sources. Our country as a whole needs to look back in our nation's history and get rid of the crooks, greedy, and incompetent government officials,CEOS of big corporations and put them to jail. We need to get back to our family values and reclaim our country from drugs, prostitution, and all kinds of evil deeds that developed in our society. And most of all, we need to bow our heads and ask our Creator to help us get out of this mess and return to HIM for guidance and help. Do not believe the politicians. They are only working for their own good. We need another George Washington or Abraham Lincoln gto guide this country out of our misery. Men of integrity, honesty, courage, and most of all firmly believed in GOD to guide them to make this gerat country, the United States of America

  • Posted By: travllinman @ 10/11/2008 8:45:33 PM

The bottom line is that the politicians sold the American public down the river. This was a great country until greed took over. We let all our corporations move to Mexico, China, etc. Gave them tax incentives to help them move out of the country, then called it free trade. Common sense tells me why would you encourage your tax base to leave. Perhaps the lobbyists and CEO could answer this question.

People are afraid of what the polls are telling them is currently happening. Fact - with Obama, taxes will go up. His record states that and even he admits it. People know that higher taxes means a worse economy. The people have spoken the only way they know how - With Money. They pulled out of the stock market from fear of Obama and they have stopped buying to save up money to pay all the new taxes.
