McCain didn't place the country first last week when we learned of the economic crisis. He didn't put politics aside last week when he nonsensically blamed Obama for the crisis. Now that the congressional committees are near a deal, he wants to go to Washington? He is not on any of the committees that are working on the bill. What is he going to do, dot the I's and cross the T's on the bill? If he cared so much, he would have been in Washington last week. He hasn't been in Washington since April. He knows nothing about the economy (straight from the horses mouth and exemplified in the mockery he made of himself last week). He "suspended his campaign", yet his cronies are all over cable news lauding this as an example of the "maverick leader" McCain is and he interviewed with Katie Couric last night and said "now is the time for action, not statements." All the while, he issued a joint statement with Obama.
McCain has exhausted his bag of gimmicks.
