The Queen is already a Catholic - she swore an oath to the Catholic and Apostalic faith in 1953, of course and received the seal of the Catholic faith in the wedding ring at her coronation. We know that is in violation of the 1701 Settlments Act which also has an after the fact clause - in which reigning monarchs cannot be reconciled to the Pope or the Holy See or any thing papist - if they do Protestants can of course withhold their loyalties - no kidding check it out here

Who Cares?? The monarchy is just a polish way to discriminate against ordinary mortals by birth. If they were truly moving with the Times, they would move right out. All they are is a bunch of self-indulgent, snbby parasites of society. I can't understand why taxpayers would continue to fund this family in this day and age. They serve no purpose except to stroke a few egos when passing out a title. To cost our country all the money spent on governor general, plus accomodations, security, & other related expenses when they visit - are we stupid??

Now, seriously, who cares? Monarchy has no place in the West.

A move into the twenty-first century should remove all religion from government and all government from religion.

i nominate rupaul because he could be king and queen at the same time,i dont't know what religion he belongs to so you brits would still have something to argue about, problem solved

Here we go again...wasting time talking about these ROYALS! WHY???? There are more important issues that need dealt with. Who cares about these incompetent, worthless and useless people?!?!?!? The British are so foolish and so far beneath American standards of appropriateness!

American standards of appropriateness? Are you kidding me? Look at America this day and age. Our 'standard of appropriateness' is so lost in a mire of political crap, we cant even see what it is anymore. (I Say we, because Im America. Born, raised, will die here.)

I applaud the the people of Britain for their ever changing rules of life. Now if only they could make sure that whoever the person the children of Princess Diane marries, does not have to be some sort of virgin queen, like she was, would be another big step in the right direction.
The process of how she was selected, and she was selected, to bear the royal children still makes me shiver today. I hope her grandchild, a woman will someday take the crown.

ndrock, I do agree that Diana was, probably used to produce "proper heirs", then discarded, much like a breed mare. However, I, also, believe that the Queen and her family had hopes of the marriage being a good one. And, you have to admit, there are two very fine young men who are results of that union, so I would say they did well in that respect. Like many people, I will never understand how Orince Charles could have choosen Camilla Parker when he had such a beautiful wife, who was respected, loved, and had an abundance of warmth and charisma, but, there is no accounting for people's taste. I am just glad that their sons have turned out so well, despite a few youthful scrimages, which is pretty common amonge youth (been there, done that, got the tee shirt!) I wish them well, and hope they will make good choices in their own marriages one day.

ndrock, call me old fashioned if you want, but I think virginity should be protected until marriage. A gift of virginity that a young lady brings to her marriage, to her husband, should be an honor for both of them. I, also, believe this should apply to males as well, but know that is, probably, unrealistic. If young women would place more value on their virginity, maybe there would be more marriages, and less "living together", and maybe less abortions due to an unwanted pregnacy. Why there are still women becomming pregant who do not want children is appalling, since ther are so many birth control methods available. I know what this may sound like, but I am not a prude, just believe in common sense, and moral values; and, no i do not judge anyone for their choices, that is between them and God, and I do know from first hand experience how difficult it is, sometimes to make the right choices, but when you find the courage to make what your heart tells you is the correct choice, you feel free and can face yourself in the mirror. O,K. I'll stop, not trying to convince anyone just stating my belief.

Are we still British subjects, that we have to be told of every little deed that the British royals get up to? Be fair to people in our country who are descended to immigrants from other countries where they also have royals. Being of Spanish descent I would like to read more about the Spanish royals, and my roommate is Danish, where there is also a royal family in residence, how are they doing? Either give other royals equal coverage or stop shoving the British royals down our gulletts.

I predict that Ian Paisley will suffer a stroke or epileptic seizure and/or will attempt to "take out" the Pope with a suicide vest. The basis for this prediction is the precedent of Ian Paisley having to be bodily ejected from the chambers of the European Parliament when the Pope came to address that assembly because of his highly emotional rage at that event.

Given the high quality of recent American elected leaders, we have little grounds to reflect negatively on the quality of British royals.

Some of us can "deal with" more than one thing at a time. Also, consider that you really don't have to "deal with" royal succession unless you are a Member of Parliament, and that you have, let us hope, control over your eyeballs. If others wish to be informed of matters in which you have no interest, please show a little tolerance, and direct your eyeballs to the next story, to avoid wasting your time.

It is foolish for the monarchy to even exist in this day and hour. Monarchs proved time and time again throughout the Middle Ages in Europe that they are incredibly incompetent at ruling. Most of the world views the British as fools for still paying homage to some outdated monarchy. It's time for the Queen and all of her foolish family to be evicted from the palace!!! FOOLS!

This is a dumb article. It attempts to conflate gender and religion. Britain has had a queen for over 60 years. They haven't had a king since then. Prince William is the earliest born of ALL the siblings to the earliest born of Queen Elizabeth's children, Charles. They're going to have a king now. Get over that too. Not everything is unfair to women. Sexism is real, and needs to be dealt with. As for some unborn Catholic daughter 3 generations from now? Yeah how about we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
