DON'T SAY THAT I NEVER WARNED OF OBAMA'S NEFARIOUS CAMPAIGN!

  • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 09/29/2008 6:08:27 AM

If McCain can't get a single fact straight, which is what you Obamabots are saying....then why did Barry keep saying this:

"I think Senator McCain???s absolutely right that we need more responsibility???"

"Senator McCain is absolutely right that the earmarks process has been abused???"

"He???s also right that oftentimes lobbyists and special interests are the ones that are introducing these???requests???"

"John mentioned the fact that business taxes on paper are high in this country, and he???s absolutely right???"

"John is right we have to make cuts???"

"Senator McCain is absolutely right that the violence has been reduced as a consequence of the extraordinary sacrifice of our troops and our military families???"

"John ??? you???re absolutely right that presidents have to be prudent in what they say???"

"Senator McCain is absolutely right, we cannot tolerate a nuclear Iran???"

So if McCain just doesn't "get it," then why does Obama keep on agreeing with him?

Reminds me of the Democratic Primary Debates
    "I Agree with Hillary.."
    "Hillary is absolutely right..."

Let me help you with that. You sir are absolutly right! and Hillary didnt win, and neither will McCain! You dont factor in the same thing they didnt (The kill em with kindness factor) Its simple ,,,just allow the opponent to rear up and show its temperment...Temper, Temper!

With less than two months before the election, Republicans and Democrats are driving it home: This is the election of the century.

And they're right: There is a lot at stake this year. This could be the year we change the lives of million Americans by providing them with decent health care and millions more with a living wage. It could be the year that we listen to the many Americans and Iraqis and withdraw occupying forces. It could be the year that we cut the near-trillion dollar defense budget, repeal NAFTA, revoke the Patriot Act and the illegal wiretapping FISA bill, build a green energy infrastructure, discipline runaway corporations and reign in the manic speculation driving the current food and housing crises.

That is Ralph Nader's plan, anyway-to offer Americans what the polls show they want.

So, while John McCain sings about bombing Iran and Barack Obama uses rhetoric about "smart" and "dumb" wars to stay in dumb wars and start new "smart" ones, Nader stands for strongly negotiated peace in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan. While Obama dismisses his earlier commitments to fair trade as "overheated," Nader would replace NAFTA with uniform environmental and labor standards. And while McCain chants "drill, baby, drill," and Obama prepares to replace Big Oil with Big Corn or Big Nukes, Nader calls for a renewable infrastructure.

But the Democrats tell us that we cannot vote for Nader because there is too much at stake this year. After eight years of George W. Bush, the argument goes, we cannot afford another Republican. We must rally behind the change party. And for the most part, students are buying it. Emphatically anybody-but-Bush and unfamiliar with the Democrats' duplicity, these students mistakenly believe that ousting the current administration will exorcise the demons of war, jingoism and economic imperialism they represent.

I don't think the messages of either candidate got through. I agree with Sen Thompson that things need to change. The only thing I do think came across even to Democrates is the serious situation in Russia and the security and power it is possessing by its occupation of Georgia and placement of flag at the pole. I think today shows that maybe the debate should have been postponed though those earmarks might have squeaked through in the rush.

  • Posted By: demos08 @ 09/29/2008 3:00:55 PM

OK, the first big debate is now history. The next debate-for the VPs-is going to be an interesting one to watch. The Repubs have been working very hard to lower expectations for Poor Little Sarah, their "Every woman's role model" cancidate. I only hope Joe Biden can keep from snickering every time she opens her mouth. If the Repubs win this thing, the Nation as a whole better start a prayer vigil for the continued good health of McCain.

One woman with Ossetian roots, which lives in the USA, said that she had watched the CNN on the 8th of August to get any information about the Georgian massive attack against S.Ossetia. She had worried about her relatives under Georgian bombs and missiles in S.Ossetia. The CNN had said no word about this because CNN had needed to discuss Edwards and his lover! When Russia had responded in many long hours after the Georgian attack the CNN and all other major channels had started yelling about bad Russians.

It isn't who won. It's what won.

Always ask after you watch a debate, not who won, but what lost and what won.

    Militarism won.
    Boondoggle star wars won.
    Corruption won.
    Corporate crime won.
    Bailouts for Wall Street won.
    Nuclear power won.
    Aggressive NATO won.

    What Lost?
    Peace advocates lost.
    Consumers lost.
    Workers lost.
    Solar energy really lost.

You ought to ask what they don't talk about, what they ignore, what they avoid. Both of these candidates are vying to get into the White House so they can take orders from their corporate paymasters.

That's what it's all about. Corporate government or the people???s government? That's why we're running: to make a people's government.

When you ask what won you get a clear view that these two candidates are really afraid of challenging corporate power. It's our job to make them more afraid of the people than big business.

Boy, all it took was watching last night's debate to know without a doubt, Barack Obama is ready to lead this country as President of the United States!! Also, all it took was to listen to John McCain, to know how arrogant and self-centered he is.! I heard someone for McCain talk on TV last night after the debate, upset over the fact that viewers would try to judge either candidate by their actions. Let me tell you, I watch that very closely, because you can tell the character of a man by how he acts, and treats others. Senator Obama was first to reach out to McCain for a handshake before and after the debate, and didn't waste time spewing sarcastic remarks from his mouth to try to look good. Well Senator McCain.....I think your cockiness will backfire on you! As someone looking forward to listening to a good debate, I was sickened by the factt that the only thing good John McCain could talk about was HIMSELF! If he would spend as much time listening to the people of America, as he does talking about how great a maverick he is.....we might not be as bad off as we are today. I don't think there has been one thing McCain has done or said to benefit anyone but himself. He is truly all politics, and will go to any extreme to try to make himself look good...WRONG!! I saw respect, composer, knowledge in all areas of discussion, and the ability to look at someone when talking in Senator Obama last night. John McCain thought he was so much better than Obama, he wouldn't even listen to the commentator and do what was asked of him.....talk to Senator Obama.......Look at him and tell him your thoughts. I think McCain couldn't do that, because he knew he couldn't HONESTLY look at Obama and say the things he said about him. It has been said, when a person cannot look you in the eye when talking, they are probably trying to hide something. HMMMMM..... The only thing John McCain did last night in that debate, was to show the viewers how old and sinical he is. His experience means nothing to me.....because in the years he has been there, nothing has been done. I don't think I would brag about that.! Just because he has met leaders in other countries, doesn't mean those leaders like him......and you should all check with the veterans! John McCain has not taken care of them in the past, so why would he start now. He tells only what he thinks you want to hear.....but guess what....we aren't stupid.....we can see decency and honesty in a person. Those are two characteristics McCain does not have! He can continue to act like he's better than his oponent...that will only be in his eyes, and in the end, when Obama goes to the White House, maybe he and Sarah Palin can go looking for Putin in that Alaskan air space!

Well first of all LORI McCain is the one that is dangerous. The McCain and Palin ticket is scary! McCain is too old and Palin is clueless. OBAMA is better for the job he has new ideas and he want to help the middle class. All McCain wants to do is get in the White House and follow in Bush footsteps. That is why he is using Palin to get the women support that was for Hillary but unfortunately it isn???t working. And Lord have mercy if he kicks the bucket before his term is up and Palin takes over she might try and draft women to go to war since she is so Clueless.

Henry Kissinger believes Barack Obama misstated his views on diplomacy with US adversaries and is not happy about being mischaracterized. He says: "Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality."

Barack Obama played the "me too" game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.

Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son's name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family.

Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending
    http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0DE7DB153EF933A0575AC0A96F958260&sec=&spon=&pagewanted=1

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

''Fannie Mae has expanded home ownership for millions of families in the 1990's by reducing down payment requirements,'' said Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae's chairman and chief executive officer. ''Yet there remain too many borrowers whose credit is just a notch below what our underwriting has required who have been relegated to paying significantly higher mortgage rates in the so-called subprime market.''

Of course all you Obamabots, so want to believe that its all McCain's fault. Good thing the NYTimes is good for something every once and a while

I watched that CNN discussion of foreign policy by 5 former secretaries of state and was quite surprised to hear Dr. Kissinger say that he recommended meeting wit Iran without conditions. I remembered it distinctly and I knew exactly what Obama was talking about when he referenced it during the debate. Dr. Kissinger damages his credibility to backtrack on the comment AFTER the debate. Either he "mis-spoke" during the CNN discussion, which he should admit and explain fullly. Or he is pandering to the Republicans and the McCain campaign by trying to surpress his own real opionion. Not very scholarly of you, Dr. Kissinger.

Anyway, Colin Powell, Jim Baker, Madeleine Albright and Warren Christopher all agreed with the no conditions policy and I haven't heard any of them back-track. Powell is so obviously on the verge of endorsing Obama that I wish he would just come out and do it -- but his on-going friendship wiht McCain seems to have him tied up in knots.

    • Posted By: Verin @ 09/29/2008 12:53:10 AM

Colin Powell is a statesman, and an American first. He would be a valuable bi-partisan consultant to any person elected President. Why should he limit his options by endorsing anyone?

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 09/29/2008 6:00:15 AM

Obamabots think Powell should endorse Obama mainly because they are black and should stick together...
It's a good thing Powell is a lot smarter than that....he knows the damage an Obama Administration would most likely do to the country and the world.

In 2005, for the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill, S. 190, was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets. If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aSKSoiNbnQY0

In support of S 190, also known as the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, John McCain said: "For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO's report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO's report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay."

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=109-s20060525-16

Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 would have Amended the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act of 1992 to establish: (1) in lieu of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), an independent Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Agency which shall have authority over the Federal Home Loan Bank Finance Corporation, the Federal Home Loan Banks, the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac); and (2) the Federal Housing Enterprise Board.
Most importantly with regard to the CDS situation, S. 190 set forth operating, administrative, and regulatory provisions respecting: (1) assessment authority; (2) authority to limit nonmission-related assets; (3) minimum and critical capital levels; (4) risk-based capital test; (5) capital classifications and undercapitalized enterprises; (6) enforcement actions and penalties; (7) golden parachutes; and (8) reporting. Adoption of these regulatory provisions would have undoubtably affected the way CDSs were dealt with in "private" enterprises.
The bill would have also amended the Federal Home Loan Bank Act to establish the Federal Home Loan Bank Finance Corporation., and transfered the functions of the Office of Finance of the Federal Home Loan Banks to such Corporation. If this had been in place three years ago, this whole situation might have been averted.

How many times you going to post that crap personcrz, the republicans controlled both the house and the white house for 6 of the last eight years, but more importantly, this economic crisis is just a bit larger than Reagans, the fact is we have this happen every time a republican gets into the white house, going all the way back to Hoover.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/28/2008 10:32:11 PM

they didn't have enough to pass legislation if the democrats indicated they were going to block it, which they did.

        • Posted By: jarcher1 @ 09/29/2008 5:30:04 AM

Now that makes no sense whatsoever. House votes, outside of veto overrides are simple 51% simple majority affairs, no filibusters to worry about there. So the Democrats had to have some RepubliCON help. You're wanting us to believe that this would have solved the housing crises, but that's a major stretch, one that is just a bit too far. But then RepubliCONs always were great liars when it came to them bearing responsibility.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/28/2008 10:34:47 PM

Ah, but who caused the mortgage companies to make the risky loans? And once a problem is identified, who wanted to ignore it because it was putting their constituents into houses they couldn't afford?

The democrats were pandering, and they are doing it again. Raising taxes on corporations in today's global economy will only encourage businesses to locate overseas. Blame the businesses all you like, that won't get jobs for people who need them. It has to be economically reasonable to locate here or companies won't.

McCain took a position, was in the lead. Obama has done nothing but promote even more hand outs that will impoverish the entire country. He has no sense of fiscal responsibility. He refused to identify any program he would give up to balance the budget and begin to reduce the deficit. Obama is a fiscal disaster.

Republicans love to point to specific votes to demonstrate that its Democratic opposition that has been the problem. As anyone knows, looking at specific votes is not very informative, since bills are never clean. Opposition to a bill can be strategic or because it contains other items that are egregious. It???s an irrefutable fact for the last 20 years conservative economic policies have governed the political landscape. Conservatives love to argue that they are fighting the good fight against the dreaded tax and spend Liberals. That fight was won by the conservatives long ago. Even moderate economic policies have been turned back by the Republican majorities in Congress, aided by southern Democrats. The mess is a Republican/conservative mess like it or not. It would be nice to hear at least one Republican admit to it. I have even heard Republican pundits claim this mess is actually the Clinton Administration???s fault. Give me a break. If any blame can be placed on the Democrats in congress and the Clinton administration, it???s that they caved into the Republican policy mantra of deregulation and more deregulation.

      • Posted By: Hannah B @ 09/28/2008 6:27:47 PM

Its sooo funny when the Republicans get caught in their messes and innocently decry "let's not play the blame game" but they eagerly WANT to play it while they are painting the Dems as at fault... its so obvious what they are doing and they get caught but they refuse to or just can't learn! Even when you give them books some people refuse to see the error of their ways.

Teach me Hannah. What books lay the blame for this fiasco at the feet of anyone other than the democrats who opposed regulation in 2005?

The claim that republicans don't want to regulate businesses ignores the facts. Republicans wanted to regulate Fanny and Freddie because they were making bad loans, but the democrats didn't.

Who has taken more money from Fanny and Freddie? Democrats. Check the records.
