Palin Is Ready? Please.

This article so spot on. Sarah Palin's incompetence is terrifying. When mental options are few, violence as a 'solution' comes easily. Given the US arsenal, this is a prospect that leaves one shivering. Sarah, if you are who you say you are, step down and do all a favor. ( Australia )

Whenever someone criticizes an article about Sarah Palin and her lack of qualifications to be president, he/she always sidesteps the issue with talk of Democratic failures in government. Both Republicans and Democrats have failed in local and national government. The point that is being made is that Sarah Palin doesn't even have the basic qualifications to be considered for the role that has continued to fail Americans. I'm actually shocked that a governor is so ignorant about domestic and foreign issues. With such broad ignorance, she would likely never be a good presidential or vice presidential candidate. When people talk of Sarah Palin and her lack of knowledge about world affairs, it has nothing to do with Democratic or Republican failures in government. It's about the danger of putting an uneducated and uninformed person in the most powerful position in government. Politics aside, it would be a disaster for the whole country.

I see we jump on every comment Gov Palin has made. How about Biden in comparison? How can you spend years in Government and not know that Roosevelt was not president during the depression and that TV was not around in 1929. Why are we talking about that though? Im sure Biden and Palin are very intelligent people, Lets look at the important things, where do they stand on the issues? where do you stand on the issues? vote accordingly. Gov Palin is against abortion, pro gun, pro drilling, pro financial conservatism. She also supports the war effort (we are at war remember?). Democrats are scared to death of Palin and that is why she is being attacked. She is pro family values, and is fiscally conservative. Look at where Biden stands on these issues and you will see a stark contrast. So if you are bad mouthing Palin on here vs Biden, you are bad mouthing where she stands on the issues. Most Americans are part of traditional families with traditional values. They are going to vote McCain - Palin in overwhelmingly.

This is a new low for the liars at Newsweak. This is a disgustng rag. Newsweak lies are "un-patriotic", NOT Palin or McCain.

There will be a reckoning coming for lying, slimeing rags like Newsweak.

Thank you Fareed Zakaria for having the courage to speak up and state the obvious. Any other election year it would have been easy to gloss over her glaring ignorance-- but now with the sad state of affairs in our country we need as many intelligent people as we can get. Sadly, Sarah Palin is not one of the intelligent ones.

I was surprised when she made it to the end of the Republican National Convention! Now that the "surge" over her candidacy is over, she is just an embarassment. I would not be surprised if she pulled out before the election.

The selection of Palin makes me ill. Where in the hell is the wisdom, insight and intelligence for this kind of pick? Well, why be surprised. We put the terminator and a wrestler in high office, so why not some chatty cathy doll who's incapable of an independent thought. Journalism degree??????????? And there's no shame in advertising that? It's like the college football players who have their major flashed on the screen: Recreational management. Same thing. We don't express outrage anymore in this country for anything. And if you support Palin as a potential VP you are so sheltered, so ignorant of what's happening around you. This is not some game or popularity contest. It's our future, our very survival could depend on her judgement. And don't forget, she did not know what the Bush Doctrine was. Isn't that horrifying? I have not spent one day as a politician in any kind of office but I know what the Bush Dpctrine is. Is it too much to ask that a potential VP would know this also? Does she know what the Marshall plan was. The Magna Carta? The treaty of Versailles? The 38th parallel? The Cuban Missile crisis? This woman is a farce. A charlatan. We've become a nation of quick fix, sexy smiles, popularity and sound bites. My mother is a better pick than Palin. And she's 85 yeasr old.

Americans and the rest of the world are badly addicted to oil. If a crack addict was complaining about the cost of drugs at the dealer, would you also recommend liberating a country, say afghanistan, to gain control of poppy fields so we could triple production and get some cost relief for those addicts that are hurting at home?

guess what? oil price relates to supply and demand, and since american can't do squat with 3% of the worlds supply, how about working on the 25% u.s. global demand side of the equation?

bite the bullet and end the dependancy, then price at the pump will become irrelevant one day.

Palin is the nightmare scenario. A totally uninformed, low educated, icon of hockey moms ( oh she is so cute, I wish I was her!). And that's who could very well be our president under the current situation. For that reason alone, McCain cannot be allowed to win this election. For if he does win , and she would someday be the president, then the position of president becomes nothing more than a figurehead. Liek the queen of England. No relevance, no influence.

Victory also means defeat over American enemies in the Middle east, Islamic extremist like al-Qaida do not want to see a democracy in Iraq, they have shifted their focus and resources to fighting us there and have been defeated. As a result of that shift, we have not seen a major attack on American soil since 9/11. The Iranian theocracy next door does not want to see a democracy in Iraq either, but the Iraqi people do, and they are voting against people who are connected with Iran. Wake up, we have enemies that hate us and want to kill us, dont be nieve and think they just want to talk things over and it will be better. They hate us because we are free, predominately christian, female friendly, wealthy, and blessed by God.
