Why is there no in depth discussion of Obama's recent reply that he is qualified to run this economy because "I think a lot about it" ? What nonsense. Yet you have Fareed Zakaria, a certain Obama apologist questioning Palin's ability to be VICE PRESIDENT. VICE PRESIDENT??? While an empty suit is this close to becoming PRESIDENT? The left is no longer capable of hiding their partiality for Obama. Yes Fareed, thanks for being so "honest".

The real nonsense is your thought process. You call Obama an empty suit. Therefore, George Bush is a fruitful suit. We all know the McSame is Bush 90% of the time. This election cycle, I 've come to realize that common sense is not that common!!!

    • Posted By: MotherOfOne28 @ 09/29/2008 10:56:53 AM

Are you serious? The woman knows very little, how dare you compare her to Obama! Never have you ever heard him utter such crap. This has nothing to do with politics; it has to do with common sense. She is not ready for this role and if you can be honest with yourself you would be able to see it as well. Try to forget Mr. Obama for a second though it will be hard, I know! Do you really think she is ready after all you have heard coming from this woman???s mouth and no Mr. Obama or the liberal main stream does not have anything to do with the crap she utters!

I do feel sorry for her because she is the butt of almost all jokes, but at the same time she created this mess. She should have said ???thanks but not thanks??? to this VP position!!!!!

First off, I'm a Kansas Dem. I'm also a military brat and ex-military wife. Early on, when Hillary was running, I was favoring McCain -- should she have won the nomination. And I was hoping McCain would choose Elizabeth Dole as his running mate to off-set HIllary's momentum. Now that Obama has won the nomination, and McCain picked Palin for the WRONG reasons, I'm voting Obama. McCain looks absolutely stupid for picking Palin out of all the other women he could have "exploited for votes." And E. Dole would have been able to answer questions without looking "blonde." Is there a way to get rid of the person you chose for your running mate?

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 09/29/2008 12:17:29 PM

It would take for the large campaign contributors to tell McCain to drop her, because they have the majority of power of influence over any campaign, Republican or Democrat. Since McCain is so stubborn, I don't think he will. Eagleton was dropped and so was Spiro Agnew during presidential campaigns. If she was dropped, she would be number three in current history.

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 09/29/2008 12:10:19 PM

It would take balls for McCain to admit he made a mistake.

      • Posted By: fccFH @ 09/29/2008 12:17:15 PM

You are absolutely right. But he, so much like Bush, would never be able to utter those words.

  • Posted By: HBWSU @ 09/29/2008 10:48:33 AM

Dumb and Dumber. The only one dumber (empty suit) than Obama is this writer. Apparently he is into how someone looks rather than substance. I guess the writer is still trying to get ivited to that high school in crowd party or just the Democratic inner circles.

    • Posted By: Common_sence @ 09/29/2008 12:17:16 PM

Why are all the Republicans on this site so hostile? Don't you realize that's what people don't want? Like Obama said " YOU JUST DON'T GET IT."

  • Posted By: bigsky_58 @ 09/29/2008 11:09:27 AM

The left wing liberal media has not supported Senater McCains selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate since day one. I think she will be a real asset to our country. You may think that because she's beautiful is my reason for saying that. WRONG....She could be the ugliest woman I've ever seen and I'd still vote for her. I say that because she is tenacious in her actions and she's like a junk yard dog when she gets her teeth into an issue she won't let go. Washington DC needs to be taken by the scruff of the neck and given a good shaking and John McCain/Sarah Palin are just the folks that will do just that. LPosey

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 09/29/2008 12:15:33 PM

Palin has no grasp of the pertinent issues. The vast majority of bloggers here have more understanding of the principle issues than she does, regardless of experience. If Obama had given the rambling nonsensical answers Palin has, his campaign would have been over long, long ago.

  • Posted By: Lady Professor @ 09/29/2008 12:14:51 PM

As an American, I too am extremely embarrassed by Sarah Palin. In a very gentle interview with Katie Couric, Ms. Palin demonstrated her total lack of understanding on foreign affairs, the economy, etc. Her acceptance of the nomination speaks volumes about her poor judgment.

Senator McCain has disgraced himself throughout this campaign by continually putting his personal ambition first over the welfare of the United States. Selecting Gov. Palin as a running mate shows incredicle lack of judgment and consideration for the American people. Shame on you Sen. McCain!!!!

  • Posted By: Stimpygato @ 09/29/2008 12:14:35 PM

The interview totally reminded me of last year's Miss Teen USA's answer to why one fifth of Americans can't locate the USA on a world map:

"I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps, and I believe that our education like such as South Africa, and the Iraq, everywhere like, such as, and I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., or should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for our children." -- Lauren Caitlin Upton

    Is there a parallel here?

  • Posted By: patattn2me @ 09/29/2008 10:53:07 AM

This is not only true but needs to be aired on every television network at least daily. The thought that McCain would put the security and wellbeing of this country one heartbeat away from the leadership of an imbecile is not "COUNTRY FIRST". This is the ultimate form of pandering. To place one's ambition to lead far above any consideration of the potential for a national disaster. NO WAY. NO McCAIN !!!! LONG LIVE OBAMA !!!!!

    • Posted By: rdonath @ 09/29/2008 12:13:43 PM

I COMPLETELY disagree about Gov. Palin being an imbecile. She is a very intelligent woman. Is she redy to be VP....not a chance in a million? Does she know the issues? Not a chance in a million, But to say she is an imbecile is just name calling, and I don't think is a very accurate description of the woman's intelligence. Would I vote for McPalin? NOT A CHANCE!!! His choice of her as VP killed his chance at the Presidency as far as I'm concerned.....but she is definately not an imbecile.

One of the best articles yet on the irresponsibility of John McCain in picking someone who is literally incompetent to be vice president or president.

    • Posted By: cubs @ 09/29/2008 11:23:26 AM

Boomerang, the same could be said for the dems.

      • Posted By: Common_sence @ 09/29/2008 12:10:01 PM

NO, not at all. I can't believe she is a gpvernor. She's doesn't appear to be an intellect at all.

  • Posted By: Vickieac @ 09/29/2008 12:09:49 PM

Listening to an earlier Palin interview, it occurred to me that naming her was probably the most unpatriotic thing that McCain had done. I am happy someone in the news media has finally come out and said it too! She says as many catch phrases as possible in an answer, but her answers are often not relevant, cohesive or thought out. Her answers make less sense than our president does. And she is another science non-believer. Earth complete with dinosaurs and people created only 6,000 years ago! Imagine, with McCain???s health, she is much too likely to take his place if he is elected. How selfish of McCain to put America in jeopardy of President Palin!

  • Posted By: okma @ 09/29/2008 10:42:29 AM

Palin, Biden, and everyone occasionally makes comments by mistake. If Biden were asked to explain what he meant in saying that FDR had addressed the country on TV, we should all be concerned if he insisted that FDR had indeed used TV for his fireside chats. Palin knew that she was being mocked for her previous comment, but she still insisted that living in a state next to Russia gave her foreign policy credentials.

    • Posted By: cubs @ 09/29/2008 11:27:27 AM

Has Obama figured out how many states are in the U.S.A. yet?

      • Posted By: Common_sence @ 09/29/2008 12:08:21 PM

There's no comparison between Obama and Palin. She's doesn't have half of his intelligence.

      • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 09/29/2008 12:02:51 PM

Again, gaffes can happen to anyone, regardless of their social status, economic status, etc. Hey even fatigue can bring out some very stupid statements. Palin on the other hand has reached the Peter Principle level which is far more scarier than anything then Biden has ever said over his political career. I totally agree with Okma, and what was being said about what to worry about and what not to worry about with gaffes. Do you know what flip-flops are? Case closed, now I will try to control my gaffes.

Excellent article. I live near Camp David. I guess that makes me a visiting diplomat. McCain chose Palin to win the "redneck" and "evangelical conservative women" vote. Not that they are not worthy Americans, however they tend to vote on personality rather than qualification. After 8 years of George W. Bush, I think it is time we demand intelligence be a pre-requesite for Office.

  • Posted By: pugo @ 09/29/2008 11:23:41 AM

How is it that a candidate like Obama who has spent most of his time as a senator campaigning, is found by some to be qualified as president. There are a lot people like me who doesn't think that a "snake-oil salesman" like Obama should be the next president. McCain is the better choice.

    • Posted By: davidferdi @ 09/29/2008 11:43:11 AM

Ok pugo, here's your big chance to let us all know what qualifications are needed to be Presisdent, and then tell us which of those qualifications McSame posses.
Come on, we are all waiting,
oh ,oh I know.. He is white..He was a POW...Please

David, don't forget that he was a POW. Plus, he was also a Prisoner of War *and* was held by the North Koreans. Not to mention that he was in the war, and got captured. </snark>

How misleading can a headline be? PICKING PALIN WASN'T PATRIOTIC. How many dems cried when they claimed that because they didn't support the war didn't mean that they were not patriotic. You liberals should practice what you preach.

The title for this article is right on point. Mrs. Palin wasn't selected by Mcsame because she is good for this country. She was selected to get Mcsame more votes. Therefore, he could have selected someone better, that really had this country interest at heart. McSame's selection was very selfish.

    • Posted By: ks_wa84 @ 09/29/2008 11:25:05 AM

Democrats didn't support the war because they didn't believe it was best for our country. That IS patriotic. Picking an utterly unqualified VP for political reasons, despite the fact that she's utterly incapable of performing the job of President should something happen to McCain, is NOT best for our country. No hypocrisy, just reality.

heck her approval rating is going down in Alaska......she's making Alaskians look stupid

  • Posted By: msacjes @ 09/29/2008 12:01:22 PM

Comment: I would love to hear 4 little words that politicians hate to say. "I made a mistake"... At first I wished to hear it from John McCain because in no way does the choice of Gov. Palin represent Country First. Now I would settle for hearing that same phrase from Gov. Palin who could simply say that she was not ready for this. Truth would raise her standing, and she is far from the most talented Republican possibility. If McCain loses there will be many reasons in the post-election analysis, but the reason I began to question his judgment was his first presidential act, the choice of a running mate who did not represent the best we have to offer. After criticism of Obama's celebrity status, he chose a VP that could energize the party for the election, but....Senator McCain mentality of a fighter pilot and is prone to quick decisions, one of which was wrong.

  • Posted By: Amma @ 09/29/2008 12:00:01 PM

On Foreign Policy, McCain / Bush / Palin / Lieberman and company are clearly single focused on war and intelligence. They view conquering the world as if playing the game RISK. Palin anticipates possible war with Russia and seems to believe her relevant foreign policy experience is protecting the border. I guess they think we can win a military war with Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia, China, Venezuela and the Eurpean Union. Well at least we know Alaska is covered by Palin, and kin over there, armed to the teeth. They got plenty of practice from aerial shots of defenseless wolves and moose. As soon as those Russies raise their head, she'll spot em.

  • Posted By: stephenveteran @ 09/29/2008 10:56:47 AM

I disagree with the premise. I believe that Sarah Palin is the best and brightest of the GOP and John McCain showed the true content of his character by selecting someone who is not only intellectually superior, but also appears to exceed him in the capacity to prevaricate. Fuerhermore, I mean furthermore, she represents the values of the 30% or so true blue Americans who still think Bush is doing a good job and want to codfiy intolerance.

    • Posted By: mkailene @ 09/29/2008 11:01:23 AM

And you are the reason that Palin was tapped! They wanted to ensure that they kept the 28% of idiots that support Bush in their camp!

      • Posted By: ks_wa84 @ 09/29/2008 11:27:22 AM

        he was being facetious...

        • Posted By: Common_sence @ 09/29/2008 11:56:37 AM

Palin is the dimmest bulb in the room. She can't even answer a question with a complete sentence. There is no way she can be a 72 yr old heartbeat away from the presidency, NO WAY!!! Our country hasn't been the bad off in decades and the Republicans don't deserve another chance. It would be absolute "Insanity "for anyone to want to vote for their ticket.

    • Posted By: benbro @ 09/29/2008 11:09:09 AM

"Sarah Palin is the best and brightest of the GOP"

      Wow, this makes me happy.

  • Posted By: okma @ 09/29/2008 10:29:50 AM

Palin, Biden, and everyone occasionally says something mistakenly. If Kate Couric were to come back to Biden and ask him to clarify what he meant be saying that FDR had addressed the country on television, we would have a real concern if Biden had insisted that FDR had used television. Palin had the benefit of having the adsurdity of her previous response pointed out to her, and she still insisted that living in a border state was sufficient to give her foreign policy legitimacy.

    • Posted By: cubs @ 09/29/2008 11:10:47 AM

How about Obama stating there are 54 states? WOW !!!

      • Posted By: rogerhall @ 09/29/2008 11:56:25 AM

But he didn't say that. He said he had been able to visit 54 states; where he most likely meant 44. Unless of course he meant Guam, Puerto Rico, the Phillipines, et. al., which aren't states, but are "states". I'm not sure he ever clarified, and frankly, I don't care if he does.

For anyone to complain about an Obama gaff and still think either Bush, McCain, or Palin are good for America ... mind boggling.

But hey - thanks for focusing on the pointless Faux News drivel and disregarding the real issues before us.
