Of course, if we were to compare IQs, she wouldn't have any. Of course, her interviewing style is something she learned in her beauty pageant days. It doesn't matter what you say as long as you smile and twinkle and are cheery. The more serious concern is who would manage her presidency should we suddenly get stuck with her. That would be Cheney and ilk. Even conservatives are calling for her to step down. But McCain's really infatuated with her and grateful to her for the crowds and attention. He's called her his soul mate. Cindy loves her too. They are going to have to outvoted. That's the only way not to have this happen to the nation and the world.

Jump on Palin....but no defense for Michelle? There is none!

    • Posted By: tbeckwith @ 09/28/2008 5:53:59 PM

This post makes no sense. Michelle isn't running for VP. There is nothing to defend as her qualifications (of which I personally believe she has a lot) have no bearing on the people we will be electing as the next President and Vice President of this nation.

    • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 09/28/2008 4:51:04 PM

Because Michelle doesn't make an idiot out of herself. Michelle would be able to answer the same questions as was posed to Palin and make Palin sound like a third grader. Michelle is extremely bright. Again and I am saying this as an Independent who was going to vote for McCain in 2000, the choice of Palin is SCARY

    .

Liberals are funny! Their Pres pick doesn't have experience
Or has had his shady past reveled,
Or his judgment of relationships with Terrorist and anti American radical Racist for 20 YEARS looked into.

    But,

Sarah the VP pick is a horrible choice. Riiiiiiiight!
The only ones you are going to convince are already lefty lemmings that will only vote for a Dem.

Most normal people see what is going on here and reject Radical negative people like LipStick Boy! Repeating "Hope and Change" is not going to get very far with the normal people that see thru all of his flowery crap and the empty suit.

The Gestapo tactics of intimidation and Barry Os "Truth Squad" little brown shirts down in Missouri isn't making any brownie points with the masses. He is being reveled as a Chicago thug with the nickname little Adolf.
Joseph Goebbels would be proud and impressed with Barrys propaganda spreading and win by intimidation game! He has done it before, in Chicago, so he thinks it will work now.

This is getting good! Little Adolf, I love it almost as much as Lipstick Boy!

But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." --John F. Kennedy

        .
That was then, this is NOW.

You just described Republicans. thank you , my point has been proven!
Liberals these days means SOCIALIST. John F. Kennedy would be appalled as to what has happened to the Democrat party!

That is exactly why some Dems are switching partys.

Sounds like you might be a liberal after all Monique. Don't fight it, you know it's right (but left).

Kathleen Parker, an early supporter of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, said Friday recent interviews have shown the Alaska governor is "out of her league" and should leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party. Parker's comments follow those by prominent conservatives David Brooks, George Will, and David Frum who have all publicly questioned Palin's readiness to be vice president.

And the above list of conservative commentators are some of the most prominent on the right side of the spectrum. Considering the facts and the commentary of these well respected journalists posting what they did, can you still look someone in eye, knowing that Palin could become POTUS, and say without hesitation, or trepidation that she is ready right now to lead our country after seeing Couric's interview with Palin?

And don't give the BS that Couric was hard on her. If you saw the debate, Couric's questions were easier than the ones that both McCain and Obama were given. So if you think Couric was hard, what is she going to do when she has her face-off with Biden? Case closed.

        .

Really doesn't matter what anyone says against Palin. She will be way better then having a socialist radical with Anti American close ties as POTUS, any day!!!!

Face it, we non Liberals non socialist don't trust Barry and other liberal socialist with our country. Go fu@k up Canada or some other country that doesn't care if Socialism takes over.
Liberal have become Radical Lemmings that group think and don't seem to care about looking into their Chosen Ones shady past. Or even acknowledge when their boy is found out.
But point that finger at the repubs and throw that blame game around.
This is old news. No one trusts what your MSM lemmings say anymore.

You have been reading too many e-mail attacks. The majority of those are all false. Why don't you learn to do a little research instead. Yes, it may require some digging, but it is possible to validate what is being said by all the candidates.

I am neither a liberal or conservative, but I find the idea of Sarah Palin in office to be a very s
cary proposition. She has shown herself to be very focused on a few choice ideals, and have no int
erest at all in any others. This is not the makings of a good executive.

It is interesting that so many of the far right become so vile, spewing forth the vitrol as in all
your posts, and blaming the press for being liberal. It feels like you don't think your candidates can win on their own, so you have to yell and scream. Try to do a little critical thinking and no
t letting those around you think for you.

            .

You are saying the press is not all liberal? WOW!

I am stating facts. You just do not want to believe any of it or are too lazy to check.

You talk about the right being vile, another WOW! Have you read ANY of this stuff the "tolerant" lefties have been writing here? How did you miss it. This whole page is filled with vile hatred for a woman that they have been making up lie about ever since she was announced.

You have just proven yourself to be a blind lemming LIBERAL trying to sound uncommitted.

            .

            • Posted By: meh62 @ 09/28/2008 2:20:30 PM

Yes, not all of the press is liberal. There are left leaning and right leaning outlets, as well
as outlets that are more to the center. Just because there are not on the outer fringes of the
right where you appear to reside does not make the press all liberal.

I never said the right was vile. If you bother to actual read what was written, I commented on
some in the extreame right being vile and spewing forth vitrol. This in no ways indicates the
entire right as a group (which you seemed to understand about the comment on the press). This
just appears to be another way of cherry picking statements and trying to provoke an outraged
response. As for the left, after I left the original message, I have seen some that have been
over the bounds of taste as well. The majority however, have just expressed concern with the idea
of Sarah Palin being in office.

You make comments about "facts," but have not presented any ideas nor the facts to back them up.
All you have given so far is prejudice, obscenity and childish taunts.

Oh yes, and just so you understand, Lemmings are small animals that follow in a group, regardless
of where they are going. Given your past statements, you appears to be a "lemming" that will follow your party or your pastor/priest/etc and give up on all thought processes.

In this country, we are blessed to be allowed to have discourse on various subjects. It is just a
pity that so often, that discourse has to descend to partisan politics and name calling.

Wow , you sound sooooo smart. Go do a little research into Lipstick boys (aka little Adolf) past and get back to me as to who is the scarier person. You ok with the police state "Truth Squad" thing in Missouri? Things to come from your "Messiah".

Wow moniqueO: that is the most vile, imbecilic, ditto-head rhetoric I have ever heard. Have you listened to Palin's interviews with Couric or Gibson? Can you read? Did you read her response to the greatest economic crisis facing this country since the Great Depression? Do you really think this person is qualified to stand one missed heartbeat away from the highest office in the land? Please spare this country another 4 years like the last 8. Stay home on November 4th. You are not qualified to make rational decisions. Nor can you form a coherent sentence.

    Mr. Zakaria:

THANK YOU for addressing the 800 pound gorilla in the election. As a woman, I have no problem saying that Palin is totally out of her league. I was willing to give McCain a honest shot at my vote, but his last minute choice of someone so obviously lacking in credentials is truly astounding. Anyone who is the least bit interested in the major domestic and international issues our country is facing could sound more intelligent - and that is without the help of any outside experts. She clearly has never given any thought to these issues. NO WAY WOULD VOTE FOR MCCAIN NOW- WITH OR WITHOUT PALIN.

  • Posted By: sally626 @ 09/28/2008 3:58:17 PM

Fareed...you rock! WELL SAID and so true! The word "irresponsible" was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard that McCain had picked her. McCain's VP decision, as well as his erractic behavior (Suspend the campaign! the sky is falling!) the last few days, makes it clear he does not have what it takes to be POTUS, particularly with all the challenges our country currently faces.

    • Posted By: Rev-in @ 09/28/2008 5:20:44 PM

I'm not defending Sarah Palin's credentials, I think she is better than some whiners declare and maybe not as good in some areas as she needs to be...my comment is about Katie...don't think for one minute that she gave Palin an ounce of "easy" ...As a Democrat woman, I watched her with all the objectivity that I could and it was a definate "gotcha" interview...Katie has lost any love for what she does and has become a very cynical reporter...whatever happened to her laughter and fun, she doesn't wear those wrinkles of distaste for what she does very well...

      • Posted By: marksgershenson @ 09/28/2008 5:36:08 PM

Well I guess conservative journalists also disagree with your assesment. This is not right wing versus left wing, this is a person who could become POTUS.

Kathleen Parker, an early supporter of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, said Friday recent interviews have shown the Alaska governor is "out of her league" and should leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party. That's how serious her being McCain's running mate has become to voters.

  • Posted By: mr.ed @ 09/28/2008 5:35:45 PM

Palin was thrust upon the campaign by Tony Perkins and James Dobson to mollify the Christian rightists, who weren't in the McCain camp until then. She is a blank slate, an empty pantsuit. Truly an example that religion and politics shouldn't mix.

  • Posted By: Reality_Mack @ 09/28/2008 5:35:28 PM

Therese you are typical of the moronic, rote like mantra of conservatives everywhere who find it near impossible to face reality and accept (and tell) the truth. You cannot honestly, hand on heart, summoning on your intelligence and acuity think that given the overwhelming evidence on Palin at this point in time, that she is in the slightest part capable of being Vice President, and indeed, President. It is shameful that you would put to print such an absolution.

  • Posted By: swe123 @ 09/28/2008 5:34:11 PM

Therese in NV...why would be scared? Have you not noticed that Obama is up by 8 points in a nationwide poll? As far as Palin's budgetary experience...Wasilla went from a zero deficit to a 20 million dollar deficit under her mayorship. Her big project in Alaska was building a hockey rink on land that the state didn't even own which has caused the state million in lawsuits. Just because you have the experience doesn't mean you did it well. And last...are you insinuating that our friends in Canada are a national security problem that she had to deal with???

  • Posted By: tshailey @ 09/28/2008 5:29:49 PM

Palin is chaming, attractive and has a great story to tell about field dressing a Moose. He can deliver a cute line about "hockey moms", lipstick and pitbulls.

    Adorable.

But this "hockey mom" is simply out of her depth as it is clear to see in the interviews. It was painful to watch someone so incredibly ignorant try to pretend that they knew what they were talking about.

We live in very serious times and it is an insult to our great country that the GOP would nominate someone so unqualified and frivilous to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Running for the American Vice Presidency is a little bit different than competing for "Amercian Idol" .

McCain is known for making impulsive decisions at the last minute. Its tiime for him to put the country above politics and get the hook.

  • Posted By: sugarboo2 @ 09/28/2008 3:48:17 PM

No, Sarah Palin is not ready to be President or VP! The only reason she was pick was to lure the women voters that was in favor of Hillary. McCain only cares about himself and not the fact that he is making an American fool out of Palin. I actually don't think McCain knew that much about Palin because if so he would have known she was a big liar but then again he is too!!

    • Posted By: Pattykins @ 09/28/2008 5:26:02 PM

McCain has always, is still, and always will use women. He sure picked the right one this time. I really don't think Sarah Palin realizes that she is only being used!!! What a shame!

  • Posted By: nowaynohownomccain! @ 09/28/2008 5:19:10 PM

Couric: I'm just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

Palin: I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you.

She is not even ready to answer a simple question! So, how can she be ready to lead America should Mccain die?? Let???s be objective in analyzing this situation. The woman DOES NOT have the mental capacity to even comprehend a question or give a straight answer during her interviews. She really is the best vp candidate they can come up with? I thought intelligence was a requirement in running for public office. I guess I was wrong. To all hardworking Americans, it???s a waste to go to college so that you can become smarter and more knowledgeable. Do it the Sarah Palin way to become successful! Become a hockey mom and run for public office. If you can come up with enough BS, then people full of BS will elect you and even better, you can even become the President of the greatest nation in the world! How amazing is that??? It is truly the American dream!

I think someone who cares about Sarah should clue her in on what is going on. I believe she is not from our world. I also think that if McCain puts our country first as he wants us to believe then he should take her off the ticket. She has done a disservice to the women that fought so hard for equality and frankly she is an embarrassment.

Sarah Palin will get, as consolation prize, a job as a TV commentator in Fox News, which is what she studied for, and always wanted to be. A likely title: "Nowhere Politics".

I'm sure Fareed Zakaria has been called many things, but "liberal" is not one of them. Perhaps it would be prudent to check the author's credentials before disparaging him.
