Calling all conservatives. I will ask again that one of you please translate the following passage of Gov. Palin.

    From the Couric interview.

COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? Allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy? Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: That's why I say, I like ever American I'm speaking with were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the tax payers looking to bailout. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy. Helping the ... Oh, it's got to be about job creation too. Shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americas. And trade we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive scary thing. But 1 in 5 jobs being created in the trade sector today. We've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

Somewhere Senator McCain is beating his head against a wall......

    • Posted By: 2008Wonk @ 09/27/2008 11:27:10 PM

Yes, one really has to wonder... What, for instance, does health-care have to do in any meaningful way with the Wall Street bailout?

And how is "trade" a sector?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The truth shall set us free!! (and maybe Sarah too). And to LOVE234AMERICA:
You sound more hateful than anyone in the entire campaign, including the pitbull wearing lipstick. And you call yourself a Christian? Shame on you! But I guess since you seem to clearly be a republican, it comes as no surprise you are a hypocrite. Fareed simply pointed out the sad, painful truth. Sarah Palin is not only stupid but insane to think that anyone with the common sense God gave them would believe her bull***t!
Love, how do you even make it through a day being so ignorant?

This is my first article writer by you, and I almost pissed myself it was so funny. Please answer one question for me, why is this pure logic so hard to find in media, with the exceptions of few, like Campbell Brown on CNN. You guys have to speak out more. Job well done, lets try to keep this in the headlines long enough for those that are hiding from the truth. peace! and I do mean peace, as there will be none if MP rules

The Right Wing commentators are finally coming out and stating the obvious - the empress Palin has no clothes.
    Pick one:
    a) McCain did not vet Palin - in which case he is a fool.
    b) McCain did vet Palin - in which case he's a bigger fool.

Palin is a post turtle (look it up) and needs pushed off.

She needs more time with her kids and it's nearly moose season

left wing commentators are finally coming out and stating the obvious...that Joe Biden sticks his foot in his mouth daily and is an embarrassment to the anointed one........alinsky would be proud of you, too.

These two video clips clearly showed that all these well-qualified & in the league democrat senators or congressmen/congresswomen were so SMART to say that there were no foreseen problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2004 and again in 2006? Senator Dodd now again adds the ACORN share as a condition of the bail-out plan, truly SMART & IN THE LEAGUE of the???
Okay, so why exactly is Sarah Palin not qualified?
Let???s see now???city councilwoman for 2 years; mayor for 6 years and president of Alaska Conference of Mayors; Chair of Alaska Conservation Commission; appointed Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from which she soon resigned in order to expose corruption among members of her own party; 1.8 years of governor of Alaska during which time she has replaced the entire Board of Agriculture and Conservation because of conflict of interest, passed a landmark ethics reform bill, used her veto power to cut budgetary spending - vetoed about a third or more of the capital budget; C-in-C of the Alaskan National Guard; negotiated a pipeline contract with a foreign power; even vetoed a bill prohibiting official gay unions because the judiciary had ruled that banning it was unconstitutional. Her economic philosophy ??? Fiscally speaking, the private sector can do a better job than government can do.??? ???I also just trust individuals to make wise decisions for themselves and families. I have a lot of trust in individuals. I don't trust government nearly as much." A true disciple of Adam Smith!
Gosh???how can this ever stack up against the impressive resume Obama has acquired over the years?
Let???s see now???Saul Alinsky-inspired ???community organizer??? who worked closely with the demonstrably corrupt ACORN group; questionable ties to the corrupt Daley political machine and unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers; 20 year-long membership in the church of an America-hating racist; shady real estate transaction with a convicted felon; got elected state senator in 1996 by using technicalities to clear the ballot of opponents; served in the part-time state senator job for 7 years, voting ???present??? over 140 times; U.S. senator since 2004 after his opponent dropped out of the race; since 2006 has been actively campaigning for the presidency of the U.S. Impressive indeed! By the way recent news alert:
???The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.???
???Obama campaign has issued a decree banning all signs at a rally today at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.???
Sound like a Marxist tactic, is Obama & Co. starting a culture revolution in the US?

"True disciple of Adam Smith"? I think you read one line in Wealth of Nations and threw the book away. Cause if you didn't, you'd be cognizant of the fact that Smith argued that responsible governance was necessary for a healthy market. Time to go back to school...

  • Posted By: OH NO MR BILL @ 09/27/2008 11:14:56 PM

Someone please ask Palin what she thinks about dinosaur eggs!! We're going to vote for a creationist as our VP? Has anti-intellectualism become the defining ideology of the United States in the 21st Century? HELP!!!

  • Posted By: AllKnowinOrb @ 09/27/2008 11:14:00 PM

In response to mylo, I must say that for the Democrats to present a person with a brain as their candidate is commendable, even though he is clearly NOT a Muslim. One thing the rest of us may be able to agree on is that mylo is a foolish parrot for right-wing extremist demagogues.

Sarah Palin is the blank slate running mate, she was hand picked for a reason. The McCain Camp is being driven fast and furious by Neocon Extremists. We should all be worried about our freedoms with these guys in charge. Read this article by Naomi Wolf, it'll shed some necessary light on this subject. Then email it to everyone you know, esp. the low information voters who are taken with her folksy charms. Check it out:

I am a registered republican who usually votes party lines. McCain's poor judgement irks me no end. To think Palin would be a heartbeat from being Commander in Chief will not allow me to vote republican.

    • Posted By: Scientist4Obama @ 09/27/2008 11:08:54 PM

Good for you! Finally people can think beyond party lines and really put the country first.

  • Posted By: dlivitia @ 09/27/2008 11:08:01 PM

John McCain made an unethical move picking Palin as VP. End of that story. The new story begins with VP debates were Palin is going to get choked and then some. McCain panicked, Obama did not. I have no party listed on my registration; I vote people, not parties. This year my vote goes to JFK, enough of W.

Like so many others, I have been having fun mocking Palin's responses to Gibson and Couric. I've been rubbing my hands with glee at the prospect of this week's VP debate, which I've expected to be a nonstop laugh fest when Palin speaks, especially when contrasted with Biden. But after seeing a video online of her 2006 debate for Alaska's governorship, I was forced to admit that her interviews did not fairly represent her potential as a debater. In the 2006 debates, she consistenly spoke grammatically correct sentences, gave focused and concise answers, and stayed on message, without getting tangled up in idiotic syntactical deadends. Given her recent gaffes, it's not likely that she'll erase the hole she's dug for herself, but I have to concede--despite my wish to see her flub the opportunity--that the possibility for a real debate is there. The Alaska debate had no cross-talk among the candidates, and the absence of such cross-talk in the VP debate is likely to come back and haunt the Dems, who allowed this concession to the GOP.

    • Posted By: ShockedAndAwed @ 09/27/2008 11:06:44 PM

I hate to admit it - but perhaps this is another McCain strategy(or tactic). However, it appears that the Obama team has also been studying these tapes and my guess is that they will not be fooled should this all be a ploy...

Good article. You are absolutely right. I didn't understand what she was talking about in the 700B bailout section. Also, the Putin rears his head thing is ridiculous. Hopefully America is seeing Barack and Biden as the leaders we need.

  • Posted By: xenoak47 @ 09/27/2008 11:02:35 PM

All of you people saying that she has more experience than Obama, or that Obama isn't qualified to be president, obviously haven't been seriously looking at his record, or even heard him during the debates. You think that a person with no experience and no intellect that didn't know the issues could simply come out and debate John McCain on foreign policy and stand toe to toe against him in terms of knowledge and understanding? What are you guys smoking? Has Obama shied away from taking questions? He was even on the O'Reilly factor, which is one of the most right wing shows on television. Did he sound like he didn't know what he was talking about? Of course not. Then you gotta ask yourselves why in the world they won't let the media talk to Sarah Palin. And then you gotta take a look at the measly 3 interviews she did, and actually analyze her answers. You come out with absolutely nothing. Can you vote for once not out of spite for the democratic party but for your country instead? If McCain wins, there is a chance that Palin will be president.

  • Posted By: Conspirator @ 09/27/2008 10:44:45 PM

McCain is a just get byer is whole life. Not the sharpest crayon in the box. Graduating 5th from the bottom at the academy was not accident, it was earned, crashing 4 planes not counting being shot down tells just how bad a pilot he was. He should be ashamed that as a POW he broke and did numerous statements against the USA. He would have been convicted on the Keating 5 mess, except every investment and perk was in his wifes name, and that hasn't changed even today. He is erratic in behavior and has a very bad temper. Had he been President with the Georgia situation we would be on the brink of war with Russia. And then he dumps this religious zealot whose life is rather trailer trashy without the mask of her religion as a VP. She is unqualified to be every an intern in the house.

Seriously, Mr. 'therefore she must be destroyed" did you read the transcript of her response to Katie Couric? I mean liberal, conservative it doesn't matter - that response was utterly devoid of intelligent thought or consideration - it was, to be blunt, word vomit. You can't honestly look at that response and say "I want that lady to lead my country!" get real.

    • Posted By: a brighter America 08 @ 09/27/2008 11:00:38 PM

I like your term, "word vomit", so very appropriate. I also like to say Palin suffers from a severe case of "diarrhia of the mouth" All those FOVE CLONE "phrases" the campaign had her memorize just gave her a huge stomach ache and got all jumbled up. A quick study?? No wonder they are are keeping her "wrapped in her moose safety net", the woman makes NO sense whatsoever. By the way, her vocabulary is very poor as well, cannot tell when to use "is" or "are", uses "yeah" and "ya" frequently, and thinks Russia and Canada, those foreign countries she refers to in her interview are NOW IN ALASKA where she is the "executive of". No wonder she played hopscotch through 5-6 colleges to get her 5-year journalism "learning". Not very bright, that Sarah Palin.

usual sympathetic questioning of the "perky one" katie couric? what a frickin' (colloquialism) joke! Keep asking BHO about his wife's dress and what kind of breath mint he prefers! Saul Alinsky wins.....your sniffing up the wrong tree Fareed. With the same scathing criticism accompany Biden latest gaffe? No, of course not...his 30 years of experience is the key......to saying Hillary was the better choice for VP...or Pres? Your ignorance is overshadowed by your stupidity...

He's also the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations committee and recently submitted a list of world leaders he met with that is over 7 pages long. Palin has been to Mexico and Canada and didn't even have a passport till last year. He's also done 54 interviews and Town hall meetings since joining the ticket. Why has Palin only done 3? Why does she keep repeating that she can see Russia from Alaska? I think this train wreck of an interview pretty much sums it up. "I believe that US Americans, and such as, the Iraq, don't have maps..."

He makes off-the-cuff remarks which at times make me flinch, true. However, I've never heard him say anything that makes me think he's completely ignorant of an issue; in fact, he knows so much sometimes he won't shut up! That's what I want in a leader, knowledge, not to have a beer with him : )
