The great insight of the Palin VP choice is that huge chunks of American voters no longer even demand that their candidates actually have policy positions; they simply consume them as media entertainment, rooting for or against them according to the reflexive prejudices of their demographic, as they would for reality-show contestants or sitcom characters. For those people who think that the press is being too hard on Sarah Palin or that this is a liberal attack on her, please step back and examine the facts. Sarah Palin has done three interviews since being selected as VP, that is unprecedented. Given that Palin, her views, her record, and her skills were virtually unknown to the majority of the country it would be an absolute crime to not investigate her. Further, by refusing to allow her to be interviewed the McCain camp is saying that they don't trust her abilities or her judgment. Given just the excerpts of her interview in this article I challenge anyone to say that it makes sense.

This is not liberals attacking Palin, it is the plain, hard truth. If she cannot handle the American press we cannot dare put her across the negotiating table against anyone. She wasn't even allowed to do spin last night where she could focus on just saying that McCain did a good job. If they can't trust her to do that we can't trust her as VP or worse, as President.

The US governmnet was not established to "run the country." It was established to help guarantee a framewwork of liberty within which the country could run ITSELF. And it was most certainly not established to run the WORLD! Sarah Palin would be precisely the breath of fresh COMMON SENSE air we need, to begin reversing the century long trend away from basic constitutional principles, and toward a governmnet that does not allow the country to run itself, and which has become increasingly entangled in the affairs of other countries, contrary to the sound advice of the Founders.

I want somebody in the Oval office like Palin, who hasn't had the ivy league education that would have brainwashed her into the kind of automaton Obama is, who is so very glib at spouting the marxist and interventionist talking points that the real rulers of this country have succeeded in inculcating through their media and academic arms, namely the power elite international bankers and financiers who, along with their lackey politician controlees, regularly meet in New Yor City under the guise of David Rockefeller's Council on Foreign Relations.

When I read defenses of the far right like yours, yes, this is a point I can agree with.

If you believe that John McCain is a true leader who can stand up in a military crisis then you had better think back to the 2000 South Carolina primaries when McCain was was run over by the Rove machine. The Rove machine painted his military career to be weaker then George Bushes. If you believed it then, how can you give any respect to Palin with her military leadership experience.

Mr. Zakaria is spot on, though I hope similar snowballs of opinion stay at the top of the hill where they can't seriously threaten Obama/Biden. If Palin were to leave the ticket, and be replaced by an actual viable candidate, this race could start to swing the other way as the PUMAs and closet racists coalesce around their selfish agendas.

Community Organizers bash her for fundamental political differences regarding handouts for thoses who don't want to , or will not work..But what amazes me the most is the fact that there is a woman who people should be applauding rather than abhoring. Perhaps, dsa is not aware of who has been running the executive branch of government the last eight years. Obama an empty suit...only someone with an empty head would see that.
