"Drink the kool aid," "elitist," "messiah?" Republicans are robots who repeat the same talking points they were fed from their leaders talking points that they were fed from the machine and Rove. If anyone is drinking Kool Aid it's the people who can willfully and stubbornly support two awful candidates that simply cancel events to avoid being seen as the bumbling idiots they are. I am looking for truth and Obama is saying what I've said alone and against the machine for years. I didn't get it fed it me- it's common sense. I can think for myself. Can ANYONE tell me why they ARE voting for McCain and Palin? Cause I'm tired of hearing simply why they won't vote for Obama. That's Kool Aid for you-- stubborn and belligerent. I guess I better use smaller words for the Repubs who will call me a "professor" or "elitist." Stubborn is when you don't do stuff jest cawz yoo won't do it. It meens thayerz no good reesin why yoo shoodint do it but yoo still wont.
Where did my country go? Once upon a time, intellect (good thinkin's) was a commodity (an asset or good stuff). Now it's a notch against you as a candidate? WOW. We really ARE as dumb as other countries think we are. If you don't know what Obama is saying could it be because you're not very smart? Howz about you let us thinkin' tipes run the cuntree and you and the dreenkin tipes can do the huntin? Palin will be my first vote for your kweena huntin.

I was appalled when McCain picked Palin. Now, I actually feel sorry for her. McCain campaign did nothing more than use her to help his failing campaign, and since his campaign staff has been so busy just trying to keep up with his erratic and emotional responses to issues of the day, they haven't been able to properly assist this woman. Don't misunderstand me; sympathy does not get my vote. But heaven sakes, the poor lady is so out of her league it is really sad indeed. Not to mention a direct reflection of McCains poor judgement and lack of leadership.

As far as being intelligent and powerful in her GOP speech delivery, we must remember what was stated in the Holy Bible concerning the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:7-10:11. Especially verse ten (10) in this same passage. Do not underestimate Sarah Palin! Many in her mayoral city and govenitorial state have done so and many to their demise!

Note again the Republican pattern in gordon4's post: poor grammar, disjointed comments, no logic, and foul language. Child-like in nature, these people must be stopped at all costs, lest they drive the country over the cliff once-and-for-all.

You just can't get violence off your mind.

  • Posted By: winnie47 @ 09/27/2008 6:57:07 PM

To all the delusional voters who defend Sarah Palin: Could you figure out how to bring down the deficit?
Negotiate with a dictator? Fight a war?Handle a terrorist threat? Fix the healthcare system? Save social security?Handle a Hurricane Katrina? Then what the #$%@ makes you think SHE can? I am so sick of people wanting to elect "someone just like them". We just had 8 years of it. So how's that workin' out for ya?

    • Posted By: newmoon @ 09/27/2008 7:01:07 PM

winnie I am interested on how Obama plans to do it while increasing spending by more than 800 million just for starters. I'll check back in a few mins as I am sure you have his plan handy.

      • Posted By: ashhyderabadi @ 09/27/2008 7:45:55 PM

You need to do more for your country than go with just republican ads. seriously. even though Obama's plans add spending, understand that spending on infrastructure is much better for the country since it creates jobs and infuses money into the system. Tax cuts for the people who have plenty is not what this country needs. Believe me, I'm saying that even though i'm gonna be getting that tax cut that McCain is proposing.

I, for one, am delighted by JMcC's choice of MissSarah. It shows how little he thinks of the American people. How could anyone who cares about the awesome responsibilities of the presidency in this difficult time even consider having someone as ill-prepared and MissSarah being the proverbial heartbeat away?

JMcC has sold his soul to anyone with a few bucks: "Lobbists are good people too." "I've done everything I can to elect and re-elect Georsge Bush"

oh boy, this is too good for words. "elite" dems are not unhappy w/ palin as mccain's pick. we're THRILLED. she's a moron and now everyone but the jesus jumping wingnuts nows it! to compare her to margaret thatcher, whom i disliked a great deal, is still like comparing gilligan to horatio nelson. god bless sarah palin! she's the gift that keeps on giving, a true albatross around mcgeezers withered neck. what a buffoon the old man was to chose such a obvious idiot.

  • Posted By: mbafromharvard @ 09/27/2008 7:35:06 PM

george abrahams comment is a standard Republican tactic: do something to piss off liberals, because we like it! Once again, we see we are ceding the country to people who's intellect is that of a small child. The danger, of course, is that they vote. They would rather "piss off liberals" than make an informed decision in the best interests of the country. Again - they must be stopped at all costs.

So is advocating violence a standard tactic of the Democrat Party?

  • Posted By: ChrisA1979 @ 09/27/2008 7:39:13 PM

Don't just comment on this page - get involved! I spent the day canvassing in NH for Obama and mailed out voter resistrations for young people from MA who are out of town (college). We can't risk McCain and Palin in the white house - it will be certain disaster for this country. Find volunteer opportunities at barackobama.com, register to vote at voteforchange.com and donate to the campaign. Please everyone, fight to get our country back on track. This is the time for action!

for someone to compare sarah palin to margaret thatcher, though i hated the old bird, is like comparing gilligan to horatio nelson. frankly, liberals might have been confounded at the beginning. i know that i was worried about palin: she's attractive, a rightwing dingbat, a jesus jumper, a baby factory, all the things that wingnuts love. but after gibson, hannity, and couric, i'm THRILLED that she's the veep choice for mcgeezer. she is completely unqualified. she is an obvious moron. in fact, she's soooo bad, that it's like a comedy show. she is an albatross around that old goat's neck, and she is the gift that keeps on giving! god bless sarah palin! she's got everyone talking--about how stupid she is.

  • Posted By: PanosQ @ 09/27/2008 7:38:22 PM

I 've seen here, as in other places, the "elite" criticism of the democratic candidate. What hypocrisy! Since when is being better than average a bad thing for our government? If your kid gets sick, would you prefer the local country doctor over the John Hopkins professor (if you could have him/her)? Do you really think it is better to have a president that is proud that graduated fourth from the bottom of his class rather than a Harvard Law review editor? You prefer mediocrity over excellence? You are certainly entitled to your opinion and choice. Unfortunately, last time you exercised this choice, it gave us G.W. Bush!. I hope that excellence prevails this time.

Palin is not only unqualified, an insult to American voters, absolutely clueless, and ignorant on the major issues facing our country, but a liar and/or distortionist. She is beyond inarticulate without a script. She also cannot complete a sentence without saying "yeah", "yup", or dropping her consonants at the end of words - or all 3. And it's not just the "liberals" who are saying that the thought of this woman as VP frightening and a reckless decision, but esteemed conservative columnists and Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, among many others.
I find it telling that the most complimentary thing any foreign leader she met with had to say about her was "she's gorgeous". Give me brains over beauty any day.

Amen, Fareed! I don't know whether Sarah Palin is intelligent enough to be in agony, but for those who are, it would be a mercy to end this charade. It's obvious that she's, like, totally unready to lead. It's time for John McCain to admit that he made a rash decision and to put forth a serious contender for VP. A suit jacket and enthusiasm are insufficient.

I hear she through a snow-ball at a Russian boarder gaurd once. In my opinion that is enough to give her national security expereince and global exposure... she missed the gaurd though.

  • Posted By: Nebraska @ 09/27/2008 7:35:35 PM

If she is the "the ideological heir to President Ronald Reagan" then why wont she talk to the press?
Shouldn't she be displaying her "unmatched powers of.....???" It just seems more and more that she has nothing to offer. If she is ready to be president, then she should be ready to talk to reporters.

  • Posted By: tloyd @ 09/27/2008 6:50:27 PM

John McCain has a Palin problem.

She has relentlessly ducked the press and we???re beginning to find out why. Governor Palin held her own in her interview with Charlie Gibson, with the exception of not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is. She hit some softballs with Fox News, but then came off looking inept in her interview with Katie Couric.

Conservative commentator Kathleen Parker has come to the conclusion that Sarah Palin should bow out. Parker has come to the conclusion that Palin is not credible. Parker says:

"If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself."

Jack Cafferty reacted to the Couric interview of Palin by saying:

"If John McCain wins, this woman will be one 72-year old' heartbeat away from the presidency. And if that doesn???t scare the hell out of you, it should. I'm 65 and have been covering politics for a long time - that's one of the most pathetic pieces of tape I have ever seen from someone aspiring to one of the highest offices in the country. That's all I have to say."

Talk show host Ed Schultz reports:

"Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as 'disastrous.' One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, 'What are we going to do?' The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is 'clueless.'"

What to do, what to do? If John McCain throws Gov. Palin under the bus, he???ll prove the point that he is unstable. If he sticks by his guns, he proves that he???s inflexibly loyal to his friends and we certainly don???t need four more years of that behavior.

John McCain has a Palin problem and the more she talks, the worse it???s going to get.

Amen!! I hope the idiots on the right truly get their just desserts..an airhead hockey mom from a state with less populace than most major US cities...laughable if it wasn't so serious! The blind Christian conservatives, the greedy, anti-american princes of power that are behind the scenes and the unstable, ideologues like the Rush Limbaugh's all deserve to have their Palin run White House meanwhile I'llmove to Cana

I agree with everything you had to say EXCEPT that Sara has done good things in Alaska. I live in Alaska and would like to know what good things you think she has done. She has lied, cheated, and continutes to bebave exactly like the politicians she professes to be a "Maverick" against. Please stop telling the rest of the World she is a good Governor. She is nothing of the kind.

  • Posted By: gordon4 @ 09/27/2008 7:29:53 PM

you must be so proud to be able to over come your affliction. not everyone can read and write being born with their head up their ass like you. good job,,, totaly wrong,,, but hey you have work.

  • Posted By: george abrahams @ 09/27/2008 7:29:13 PM

Man, this is getting dull. You're the third commentator to ask that Governor Palin drop out of the campaign. It???s always the same talking points. I'll explain it to you in simple terms. We conservatives know that her candidacy has hit a raw liberal nerve. She is the antithesis of the feminist woman that the left has been promulgating since the '70's. Governor Palin is like Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher ("I owe nothing to women's lib.").Governor Palin is, in fact, the ideological heir to President Ronald Reagan. So get used to it. Governor Palin is not dropping out. She is going to be the next vice-president of the United States.

    http://www.gov.state.ak.us/trade/2005/partners/russia_export2005.php and http://mainstreamconservative.blogspot.com/2008/09/of-russian-bombers-and-alaskan-airspace.html

All of you down there in the "lower" states just don't get it! Alaskans live "proximity to Russia" on a daily basis in a way that the rest of you just don't understand. Alaskan history and Russian history are interconnected and our daily lives are suffused with this history. That's why Sarah appears to be fumbling in her answer - she just can't believe that anyone wouldn't understand the special intuitive sense of connection and "nearness" that we all live with. I suggest that all of you from states other than Alaska start looking into our state and its history - I'm going to bet that it's going to start playing a much bigger role in your lives very soon!

It's a fine thing that republicans have selected a woman and it's fair that she is a representative for people who share her world view.

Just because you agree with her world view don't mistakenly assume the rest of the world agrees with you or is even interested. I find it appalling that someone so narrow minded would be considered for a position of the diversity of our great nation. Her interests are fine for her and her supporters. McCain did no favor elevating her to the national stage.

    • Posted By: ShockedAndAwed @ 09/27/2008 6:05:50 PM

a little hard to tell if you are kidding or not but just in case. A big part of communication is explaining things to other people that they may not already understand. There are times when people may not understand the special intuitive sense of connection among things and during these times leaders should be able to clearly articulate them as opposed to spewing out a bunch of jumbled words. I for one would be quite happy to have Ms. Palin remain in Alaska to continue to help you address your issues...

      • Posted By: awakealaskan @ 09/27/2008 6:31:26 PM

Hey shocked...He is sadly not kidding...just another Alaskan nut!
Good news though, even Alaskans are jumping ship...Palin's approval rating has gone 14% in 2 weeks with Alaskans. This is one opportunistic, over confident, ignorant bimbo...And this guy does not speak for us all...God Bless America!
