For someone who is so ambitious, she sure doesn't word her sentences very well. Gibberish!

Only hate could motivate anyone to vote for Sarah Palin for VP. Hate of black people. Hate of liberals. Hate of gay people. Hate can motivate people to self destruction. Voting for Palin is a self destructive action.

I read that she once referred to Obama as 'sambo'. VERY classy </sarcasm>

As far as being intelligent and powerful in her GOP speech delivery, we must remember what was stated in the Holy Bible concerning the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:7-10:11. Especially verse ten (10) in this same passage. Do not underestimate Sarah Palin! Many in her mayoral city and govenitorial state have done so and many to their demise!

The issue here is John McCain's judgement and temperament to be Commander in Chief. Any leader worth his salt, including the great Dwight David Eisenhower, who McCain attempted to quote last night, knows that the caliber of the people you surround yourself with is the single most important element in success (beyond listening to them!). McCain has shown he would surround himself with second-rate people at a time when this country needs the best and the brightest.

Yes! one of my issues is why must we continually accept mediocrity in the White House? I want the smart guy working on our troubles, the one that just ran an incredible primary campaign, the one that was calm, cool and collected in the debate last night. So far McCain/Palin has excelled at snarkiness, putdowns..... we don't need people like this working on our problems - they will alienate people more than inspire them. I want a president who is president for ALL of America.

Adding ones name to a bill as a co sponsor does not take any effort. The top of the ticket has 0 accomplishments . Keep drinking the Kool Aid. He started running for Prez before he had much time in the US Senate

Fareed is perhaps one of the most thoughtful and balanced analyst out there. For him to now rise to the occasion and speak out against Palin is quite telling. It is clear that John McCain does not put country first. His erratic and risky behavior has finally gone too far. Palin needs to go, plain and simple.

Speaking of the debate this is what I would have liked to have heard. Obama with details come on now folks you are asking the "Change" messiah for a bit much. I thought the question McCain should have asked was well senator where do you intend to get the 800+ billion dollars (surely to run twice that amount) to implement your new health care plan? Sorry increasing the taxes on the "so called rich" business owners won't even touch that number as according to you that money will be funnelled back to the low and middle income folks in the form of tax cuts. Senator if I may insist would you please give us details on where this magic money will come from?

One of the most important questions that those who are smitten with Sarah Palin should be asking themselves is; "If anything happened to John McCain before the election, would Sarah Palin be my choice for President of the United States?" When confronted with any question that has not been pre-loaded into her talking points, she looks like a deer caught in the headlights and starts rambling incoherently.

I am confused as to how anyone can write an article like this citing qualifications and experience when the only things going for the main contender for the TOP spot of their own party is a great voice and an army of handlers. Can someone please explain to me how Palin is less qualified than Obama? Say no to the Kool-Aid and believe in yourself, not in what you are told you should think.

    • Posted By: simonanunhappydem @ 09/27/2008 7:04:37 PM

If you do not see the answer to your question based in interviews given by Palin and Obama then no one can help you. I have some significant doubts about Obama, exactly because he is inexperienced. But he is intelligent, can think and can answer a question in sentences that make sense. Palin is similar to Bush Jr, in that she can not think straight, totally oblivious of the facts and can not talk in sentences that make sense. If you like Bush Jr. you might like Palin. Most of us do not.

    • Posted By: ShockedAndAwed @ 09/27/2008 6:59:27 PM

Please watch the various interviews with Ms.Palin. She cannot articulate a single coherent thought. That is one reason she is less qualified. There is no way you could have watched her interviews and still think she qualified. Even her former supporters have recognized this.

Dare we say it - but McCain's risky move in selecting Palin for crass political reasons is, well, unpatriotic.

We need a president and vice president who are intellectuals! Not beer drinking buddies! Where has that gotten us in the last 8 years! Palin is not qualified for the job and those who claim she is need to stop the spin and "dumbing down" the american people! The majority of americans can see through this and most of those who can't will always vote republican because every time the "fear card" comes flying out they fall for it and vote against their own self interest. Palin should have known that she wasn't up to the job and should never have accepted, so I don't feel sorry for her. McCain;s judgement is flawed, he is an angry man who wants the presidency at any cost. I wonder what they are going to pull out of the hat in October? The world is changing we need to change with it and most of all be the leader. I have come to believe it won't happen with McCain. He failed the first test, when he picked Palin to be his vp. The interview with Kate Couric was a complete disaster! As Americans we should be deeply concerned. another point of interest, how can McCain claim he is a maverick who will reach across party lines to get things done! He never once looked at Obama in the debt last night. He was angry, hateful and attacked constantly, he did not look like a peacemaker to me. As americans we need to vote with our heads, please no more bushes!

I'm an Obama supporter but I'd like to comment and say that I'm very upset with John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate, and aside from the grave risk that he has put this country in by choosing her, I have another reason too.

When I first heard her speak, the day she was introduced nationally, I thought she was a fantastic choice. She was a lovely woman, delivering an eloquent speech, great smile, sense of humor, and had a compelling life story. It was like a dream come true that this bright, shiny star had made her way onto the world stage! Republicans couldn't have asked for more, could they? McCain had plucked this woman from virtual obscurity and the entire Republican base just fell in love with her, didn't they? It certainly appeared there was nothing that could stop them in their quest for the White House. As time started to pass however, the dramatics of the McCain camp literally hiding her away from the press, not allowing press conferences, Q&A at rallies, or print interviews started to nag at the public conciousness. Something was very wrong if she couldn't even answer a question while running for the second-highest position in the land.

Now it's becoming painfully obvious that John McCain has not only chosen someone who is totally unprepared to be his running mate, he's also compounded his error in judgment because he's probably ruined whatever political career she may have wanted in the future. From what Ive read online and in the Anchorage news, it's not even clear she'll ever be able to go back to being an effective Governor in Alaska if the McCain ticket doesn't win in November. The McCain camp has strongarmed everyone up there, not even allowing her to run the state while on the campaign trail and all questions from media has to go through the McCain campaign. (Isn't there something unconstitutional about that??) Her favorables have been dropping like lead weights with her constiuency and John McCain has caused her to become national joke.

I know she's a grown woman, and capable of making her own decisions, but I'm quite sure that whatever doubts she may have had about accepting his invitation John McCain managed to pull the wool over her eyes with tall promises and spin, to ease whatever fears she may have had then.

John McCain has proven once again that he is willing to do anything - ANYTHING - to win the Presidency, and John McCain, should be ashamed of yourself!!

    • Posted By: NervousExpat @ 09/27/2008 7:03:36 PM

From what I've read on a variety of blogs in Alaska, it seems that she was able to burn a number of bridges all by herself, so save your pity. She is as blindly ambitious as McCain, make no mistake.

whoops that was not millions it is billions folks.

  • Posted By: ethel08 @ 09/27/2008 7:01:16 PM

Apparently four years in the US Senate and 8 years in the state senate are no longer sufficient experience. But less than 20 months as governor is. Sure.

And besides, if Sarah Palin is so experienced, intelligent, and capable, why can't she talk with the American people?

  • Posted By: bonita7777 @ 09/27/2008 3:58:31 PM

he key question is if Ms. Palin is qualified to be President. I hate the idea that we are being asked to use the "90 day wonder" model of training. Ms. Palin, who would have been a complete non-starter as a Presidential candidate, is on-track to be President in two months. Her background, experience, and public performance leave me thinking that her failure in that role - should she have it - would be completely understandable. I also wonder who would really be running things if she became President.

To me, she appears like a student who has crammed for an exam but cannot organize her thoughts. That doesn't make her a bad person, but it would be a "wonder" if she succeeded as President.

    • Posted By: simonanunhappydem @ 09/27/2008 7:00:57 PM

My hope is that the American people will respond to McCain's monumental irresponsibility in choosing Palin with a landslide victory for Obama, which he otherwise could not have achieved. But if for some odd reason, or more probably, Rovian manipulation of the election results, McCain wins, a Palin presidency is certain, given McCain's ill health and age. Everyone who care for our country should vote for Obama for this reason alone.

  • Posted By: mcgreen @ 09/27/2008 7:00:48 PM

Palin isn't going to be any help to a president McCain and God help us if anything every happened to McCain. It's lunacy on McCain's part to consider putting the country in this kind of potential risk. She is inane.

  • Posted By: jclea @ 09/27/2008 6:09:23 PM

Well Fareed i'm sure you don't like her.... very very sure.... anyone with half a brain care to guess why? like lambs to slaughter we go down the road created by the press and and it's minions like ol' Fareed here.... it's time we looked in the mirror and stop listening to the drivel of of people like our boy Fareed....

as mucj as Nancy Pelosi and company don't like Sarah she'll do a fine job... she probably won't know all the weasley tricks in Washington but Barney Frank (now there's a poster child for self discipline and common sense) will be there to try to show her the ropes....

    • Posted By: simonanunhappydem @ 09/27/2008 6:53:18 PM

It is not about liking her or not....she is totally hopelessly clueless and incompetent. We have had this kind of leadership during the past 8 years and it has lead to disaster, courtesy of your kind of voters, who puts ideology above everything else. Governing a nation as large as ours needs some knowledge and experience not to mention intelligence, which is much maligned by the ultra right. She has non of these, same as Bush Jr.

Cheer up, Fareed. At this rate, we baby boomers won't be able to afford to retire, and if health care keeps getting more expensive and harder to get, everyone but the rich will die younger anyway. and save the government some of the costs of Medicare. (Who knows, maybe this is part of the neocon plan?)
