I do not feel the least bit sorry for her. She is a calculating vindictive ambitions woman, who puts herself ahead of her (obviously) troubled family, and she doesn't blink! Perhaps she should have investigated what the VP does before accepting... perhaps she should have blinked.

Did anyone trying to compare Obama??s "experience" with Palin??s see last nights Presidential debate where the candidates were not given any hint of what the questions were to be? Obama sure sounded like Presidential material to me. Knew his stuff, right to the point and made absolute sense. Did anyone saying that Palin is more experienced than Obama see her interview with Couric? She came off like a high school student that did not do her homework, was trying to fudge through answers and could not wait to get out of the classroom. It??s not necessarily all her fault, she did make the decision to accept, but she should never have been asked. What is important is that a President and VP be able to think on the fly while considering all information available, that they be worldly and understand the ways of other cultures, that they have an intelligence that will enable them to learn from life??s experiences, and that they have thoughtful, good ideas. I definitely see this in Obama, I do not in Palin.

Fareed lost me when he compared flying over the North Pole and being close to Santa Claus to Alaska being close to Russia. Sorry to break it to you Fareed but Santa Claus really doesn't exist, Russia however does.

    • Posted By: mauglie @ 09/27/2008 6:45:08 PM

Neeka--Russia exists? Well then, Sarah must be an expert. Indeed, if Russia invades our air space (I can't believe she said that--she didn't really say that did she?) I'll bet they are heading right to Wasilly. Other countries might be looking at NY or LA or DC--but heh, they are just too far. Why not just hop over the pond to Alaska. It's closer. Now there's foreign policy insight for ya.

I feel sorry for Sarah Palin. If you recall, she didn't know what the job of the vice president entailed. She accepted the position, and has since found it to be mind-bogglingly difficult. She's afraid to quit and look like a fool. She's afraid to stay and look like a fool. I blame McCain and his selfish, me-first attitude for putting her- and us- in this position. The American voters need to put her out of her misery. By voting Obama.

Trying to read arthritisdoc's rant is actually very similar to trying to understand Palin's answers. W had "truthiness", I think Palin and her fans speak "coherentish". It's English, they're words, and it doesn't matter if they don't make "sense", per se, when strung randomly together. She perfectly is coherentish and were fine in we've talking that way.

She's as qualified for vice as Obama is for Pres..Doesn't the thought of Obama, Reid & Mrs P working together give you chills? Mrs P said she was for change. She did, she presides over the worse rated Congress in the history of ratings. Their ratings make Pres. Bush's look like a rock stars. They have done basically nothing except call Bush names, our troops killers and their constant "We can't Win" comments. Not to mention blaming every thing on Bush.

Funny, Mim12, but the population of the great state of Delaware is about 850,000. Is Joe Biden similarly unqualified? Just FYI: here's a list of the Boards and Commissions that the Governor of Alaska has authority over: http://gov.state.ak.us/boards/list.php. What exactly does Joe Biden have authority over?

The world watches this verbal civil war occurring on America cable/news/and blog sites. It rages between the 19th century views of the very uneducated - yes America ... keeping them uneducated will always give you majority supporting votes for the bigots (hannity/Rush/Fox/etc) on the right and the left. It's too bad that even some of the educated (again reveals the failing of the system of learning in America) gives you comments like... "I totally agree with her on the economy, unlike you, I do have an earned doctorate and I have taught economics and I perfectly comprehended what Plain said in answer to Katie Couric." Wow! We want to support and work with American but the racism and bigotry leaves your society far behind most of the rest of the world. Palin is just a reflection of that limited knowledge coupled with an oversupply of arrogance. She has real difficulty with grade school grammar - and this is ok.
We will watch on hoping some sense will rise to the top of your society.

Paltin is a disgrace. The Republican party must have been drinking and partying, that day of the selection. She is not qualified and republican party to believe, that the Hillary supporters would have voted for her, because she is a woman is ludicious, and an insult to women, including this one. Alaska only has 700,000 register voters, and most counties in the mainland have that many registered voters. I cannot wait for the Biden debate. I do not know, Biden can debate with Palin, when she does not have any knowledge. The first speech was great, since Bush's speach writers wrote the speech. McCain will probably not make the full term, and imagine, if she is President.

I think helps explain what it is I'm talking about. For those of you not from Alaska, you really need to do some homework because there's a lot going on up here, some very unique perspectives, that you simply don't understand.

Ah, now I understand your simple comments....you are an Alaskan....that increases the chance of you being a sheep...

This is exactly why I can't vote republican this time! Unlike John Mccain I will diffently put my family and my country first over my party. This woman is dangerouse if she is put a heart beat a way from a ageing/ailing President like mccain! Lord if she becomes Prez, I'd be afraid she'd make her best freind V.P., because she has experience with shotting moose or some stupid thing!

The real reason she does not speak well in interviews is that she really doesn't subscribe to the McCain philosophy - some parts maybe - oh, yea, like the earmarks and pork barrell spending. I've found that when we subscribe to a policy, we can usually talk about it. and communicate with at least a little passion. She's a talking head and a bad one at that.

This is a great piece. I'm having a flashback to the Ms. South Carolina's speech where she wanted to say something intelligent but unfortunately it all mumbled together "such as". Palin just isn't qualified. If Palin was a man (and as a woman, I hate to say), we would all be up in arms screaming at "what the heck" happened here? That man would have stepped down stating " I need more time with my family". This just doesn't make any sense. The fact that Palin couldn't speak post-debate is a good sign that McCain had to protect her from herself. No woman wants to admit that we aren't extremely happy that she's a VP pick, but that the first woman VP pick was not what we wanted. Just facts.

It is interesting that many of the people on the board supporting Palin do not even understand basic math (take home $.38 on the dollar????). If Sarah Palin thinks she can "stare down" Putin or as she said on the news the other night "determine who is evil and who is not in her sole opinion", we end up with another politician who will "stare in to their eyes and see their soul". Please save us from another George Bush with lipstick.

    @ JeanieM
Unless you make more than $250k a year a vote for less taxes would be a vote for Obama. The Democrats are seeking to raise taxes on the richest 5% of Americans while lowering taxes on the lower 95% significantly more than McCain plans to. Instead of judging based on the words "liberal" and "conservative", you should judge based on the facts.

Please leave her in Alaska. As a long-time Rebupliican, I cannot imagine what loss of sanity caused
McCain to select her, There are plenty of intellligent Republican women with brains - just not this one! She has not been able to give a coherent response to any question put to her. Six weeks of cramming won't make her brighter - just more confused. She seems like a nice lady - just completely out of her league in national government.

The prospect of Sarah Palin becoming President in the event of McCain's election is no passing fancy.
The actuarial tables so that a 72-year old man has a 1 in 6 chance of dying in the next four years. This is for age where most men are retired and not working a 70 hour week as McCain would do as president. While he will have excellent medical care, his body has also endured 5.5 years of malnutrition and physical abuse, was a smoker for many years, and has had serious melonoma. His father died at age 70 and his grandfather at age 60. So the chance of having a president named Palin in the next four years would probably be as much as 1 in 4 if McCain is elected. Let us pray.

  • Posted By: glenn1441 @ 09/27/2008 6:20:21 PM

And why do we not hear a chorus of the same? 'Country First' indeed, Mr. McCain... You have certainly thrown the United States overboard FIRST when attempting to salvage your sinking ship in August. Palin's nomination should be of grave, grave concern to all parties.
