    surge is not good,
surge is not solution of the present crisis,
surge will become the basic reason of more complications
in regard to world economy and deathes.

    I am very happy,
    hearing the news,
they are swiftly coming to right point
by offering of share in power to Talban.

Talban do not come in the ring of terrorist,
they were ruller, and have been in power for remarkable time,
they were attacked, levelling allegation against them,
they were defeated and aftermath comppelled to fight for their existance,
they are in fact freedom fighters.

President Karzai is playing a remarkable role
as he requested to Saudi king for negotiation with Talban,
that is a landmark step taken by him

    I hope,
there will a good result of the talks,
going on under the leadership of Saudi king,
because he is not only sincere in efforts ,
but also whole muslim world gives him unique respect,
    as a spirtial leader,

USA has attacked and invaded the wrong countries .
USA should have invaded Saudi Arabia , Pakistan and U.A.E.
    Why ?
The ideology for the attacks on USA came from Saudi Arabia.
    The tech knowhow from Pakistan.
    The money from U.A.E.
    Its still not late.

Any good and dedicated soldier will take his/her marching orders and perform them to the best of his or her abilities. Lets not confuse the issues between the mission given to the US military (whish has performed admirably and very competantly) with the stupid and dumb policies of Bush, Chaney, and niocon incorporated. Without any dought this administration has failed America at every turn, from how it has handled national disasters like Katrina to the war in Iraq. Now about Afganistan, many ignorant people around the country will continue to bring up that the surge has worked in Iraq and give the credit for the success on to the President Bush but its' success stems from the work of Patrious and other soldiers and not on the President - yet the same people will shield Bush from any blame on the failures in Afganistan. Wrong!!!!! Bush and Chaney went into Iraq because Big Oil and Haliburton wanted the Iraq oil, everyone knows it and it's about time that the country holds them accountable for this. Some top heads need to answer to the American poeple for their wrong and currupt behavior. Now, Karzai is always going to the UN and the West with his hand out begging for more money for Afganistan but at the end of the day after billions from the west he does not do anything for the people of Afganistan, therefore ultimately benefiting the Taliban. He continues to cry and blame Nato and US when bombing kills civilians but never say a thing when the Taliban does the same. He continues to blame the Allies, Pakistan, and the Taliban for everything that goes wrong but never blames his currupt war lords or his extremely currupt government officials, who end up with 90% of the aide that is donated for his people. The people of Afganistan have suffered from years of war and people like Karzai and have nowhere to turn for comfort and partnership so they resort to siding (for survival reason) with who-ever poses the least threat. Pakistan is no different. War for Pakistan and Afganistan has become a form of economic development and until the West starts designing policies that recognize this fact we will not see any real success on the fight against Terrorist. Karzai and his fellow gangster in Afganistan along with the political powers in Pakistan will continue to milk the cash cow from the west regardless of how much their people will suffer. These sub-humans come from a culture that is rooted in the 7th century and has no regard for human rights and human beings. These people need to be seen for the criminals that they are and the West just needs to focus on military and economic policies that effectively fight terrorism, benefits the local population and does not reward the political and military monsters that govern these countries.

The surge in Iraq has scattered the fighters worldwide.
As could be seen from the USA embassy attack in Yemen and The Marriot attack in Pakistan.
The surge in Afghanisthan may push the fighters into Pakistan and Kashmir .

Omnius, look up the word "peshtan" and do some research prior to making comments. it reminds of the incompetence you speak so blindly about. This is a very complex situation that Sultan Ahmeds comment alludes to. We need real revolution and a change in thinking to make a difference. The Pakistanis are involved, but unfortuantely there are many in their ranks that sympathize with the Taliban. Obama is not the answer, educating the world about the situation is.

Omnius and Obama will have the same trouble with Afghanistan as ANYONE who is elected president. this is a very complex problem that invloves a society and culture that has been in place for thousands of years. Omnius, look up the word "peshtan" and start reading before you make such a hasty judgement. The support and cooperation from Pakistan's govt. and military is vital to success in Afghan region. Bad news id many of the top commanders in PAkistan are sympathetic to the Taliban. We are a superpower, but the simple truth is there no might great enough to unwind heritage and tradition. do more research instead of reading.

The Bush strategy in Afghanistan has been incompetent from the very start. Trying to catch Osama bin Laden in a 3 sided box at Tora Bora was the dumbest thing ever done. Taking our eye off the ball in Afghanistan to make the phony war in Iraq has caused this big mess in Afghanistan. Bush declared premature victory over 6 years ago in Afghanistan and screwed up royally by not giving the farmers agricultural aid in order to keep them from growing opium poppies. Nope couldn't do anything that smart and now our troops guard the same poppy fields that the Taliban uses to fund their nefarious deeds. Now we need a surge in Afghanistan and because we've wasted our military in Iraq there's no extra troops available. Only Obama will get it right in Afghanistan.

    What he is saying,
    let him say,
he can say what he want to say
    because without Pakistan's assistance
no power on the earth can defeat the forces
    facing super powers.

    No doubt,
    Pakistan is now fully involved
    in the war of terror
who will see the internal condition
people who are victimised untimely death
every city including islamabad the area of federal government.

    There are great planers
    intlectuals
    polititions
    and leaders
but no one have peacfull solution of this longstanding bloodletting issue.

    Putting aside all enmity,
    hear carefully
    what is saying Ahmedinejad
the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan
    will remained stand
it is indispensable to change the strategy.

    Surge is no a solution
best solution is to bring revolutionery change
    in strategy.

Thank you noliving for reading more than what the media wants us to know. The surge works....Petreus has turned the tied and made huge improvements in Iraq. It is unfortunate we are there, but it would be more unfortunate if we left the region and had to revisit again and again and again. Pinkpanther 87413 I appreciate your service in 79-83....but this war in Afghanistan is a different war and we are a better equipped Army with more to lose if we walk away. I have been to Afghanistan recently and know the gains we have made there contrary to what the media portrays. Unfortunately, the Bush administration didn't put much effort or thought into this war after his re-election, and we have lost some of what we gained there. But the country is manageable as is Iraq. I am going back to Afghanistan, and I will gladly serve our Country again and again, until there is peace, or I am dead. I do not want my children or my grandchildren have to re-visit these places after I have. We can't undo the mis-steps the Bush Administration has made, but we can win the war, we can stabilize these regions, and we can bring our troops home. Let our men and women of the armed forces do their job. Let them win.

I would like to first say I am the kind of person that will give my last dollar to someone I believe in being a blessing to people, BUT I have a big problem with American going into all of these countries on peace keeping missions, that's what they are Now telling us basically is the reason for us being in Iraq NOW that there was no WMD! I understand why we are in Afghanistan, terrorists from within that nation terrorized us, that I can rap my brains around, BUT alot to do with them attacking us is because of the times we have gotten ourselves involved in other conflicts in other nations that was not threatening us directly , but our allies.

We are NOT in a position to help ALL of these people! We pick those that have oil supplies that we may benefit from,BUT as we NOW see we are NOT benefiting from being in Iraq, in fact it is about to destroy us being there! We keep biting off more than we can chew! We need for the rest of the world to see us as the great liberators, BUT we fail to help the ones that really are in trouble.

Iraq was free from the tiaban before we went there, NOW they are roaming freely throughout that entire region, the one that Bush / administration said was our enemy Saddam was in fact helping to control the tiban. We as a nation destroyed him and NOW we are suffering and STILL trying to find a way of controlling the tirban who are our real enemy! We NOW know one of the reasons we went there was because Bush had a personal feud with Saddam, we know this after thousands of our troops have bleed suffered and died, after our economy has bleed suffered and is dying! We have involved ourselves in a civil dispute between these local religious tribes and in reality face the possibility of never being able to leave there completely! These religious conflicts last for decades some even thousands of years Between Jews & Muslims and we STILL have McCain and other leaders lying to us about success when the truth is there is no way of truly determining just what or when the end is!

SURGE GOOD, IT WORKS!! IT WILL GIVE THE TALIBAN WHAT WE DID NOT GET FROM IRAQ---A HUGE BODY COUNT, THAT'S WHY WE ARE STILL THERE, NOT ENOUGH DEAD FOR BUSH OR MCCAIN!
DON'T MY SON IS THERE AND KNEW THE MARINE STRIPPED OF THE MEDAL OF HONOR FOR A NAVY CROSS. HOW DISRESPECTFUL CAN YOU GET?? WHEN A MAN THROWS HIMSELF ON A GERNADE TO SAVE HIS UNIT,HE DID, AND WAS STRIPPED OF THE HIGHEST HONOR, FOR PIECE OF POLITICAL BS BY MCCAINS SENATE ARMS COMMITITY AND BUSH... NO DISRESPECT FOR ANYONE WITH THE NAVY CROSS, BUT IT'S A FAR CRY FROM THE PRESIDETIAL MEDAL OF HONOR.
I'VE BEEN THERE IN 79-83 DURING THE RUSSIAN INVASION, AND THERE IS NO WAY TO SURGE THOSE MOUNTAINS,, NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS. THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR OVER 3000 YEARS!! I THINK THEY KNOW THESE MOUNTAINS BETER, THAN ANY DRONE, WE WILL DIE IN MASSES, AS THE RUSSIANS DID,BUT WE STARTED IN BANKRUPCY... THEY FELL INTO IT DURING THE INVASION. GOOD OLD CHARLIE!

    • Posted By: Noliving @ 09/27/2008 10:52:15 PM

The reason why his medal of honor was stripped was because he fell on the grenade due to friendly fire. He did not voluntarily throw himself onto the grenade. There is a huge difference between throwing yourself onto a grenade to save your comrades vs. being injured and due to your injuries you fall down and by luck you land on a grenade. The idea with having more troops is that you be at more places at once.
