The man is a provocateur and a buffoon. If he thinks one minute that Russia will ever want to be a beggar for Western approval or protection, he is out of his mind.
The so called open society under Eltsine nearly wiped out Russia. The russians finally understood it and acted. Free marked, open society is a good idea until you are confronted to terrorism or a financial system collapse like the one we see in the U.S. Maybe in a week, after Paulson program goes into effect, the U.S will be a more socialistic nation than Russia or France. All this to say, forget the ideological posturing about democracy, free market, open society etc...

To: royljanl: We should support Georgia in their time of need. We need to send military equipment and financial support.
Don't worry, dear ,from now on you will do it regularly.Only work harder & pay more taxes.Georgians are good singers & dancers, they have good wine & they like parties, only there is one small problem, they prefer the others to work for them. What kind of solders they are,the World has already seen(they fight only with civilians & attack at night sleeping children, women & old people). But I guess you agree & support their method of killing sleeping children,my brave man.For two centuries small proud Georgia milked Russia like a cow.But when Russia started having problems,Georgia found the fatter cow ,US. During last 4 years America has given Georgians 3bln dollars.Small Georgia has a good appetite & especially it's president Saakashvilli, who spent all that money not for poor people but for modern military equipment & weapon, because he has huge ambitions. Not long ago Bush's administration gave Saakashvilli the other 1 bln dollars to restore his forces. You"re a rich cow!The thing is don't tell Saakashvilli that U have financial problems youself or he will find the other friends to build his way of democracy(very specific).Thank you so much for takining Russia's responsibility to support Georgia.Last time you sent only 200 well paid military specialists to train georgian army, this time you need to increase their amount to 400 or 600 or better send your troops there, I guess that what McCain is planning to do for his buddy Saakashvilli to show how to fight.Take care of yourself, dear, you"re now all Georgians!
P.S. By the way,it's South Ossetians' luck that Putin is "a KGB trained monster",but not a *** cat Saakashvilli .South Ossetians could disappear from the Earth, could be all(they are only 70,000) killed by georgians & you wouldn't even know .How could you,if your media didn't report the truth.Any way you don't care.

Georgian model is a shift towards autocracy with a strong democratic accent.
Saakashvili is a nice and useful twin of Ugo Chavez to irritate Russia with.

The guy has a very selective approach towards democratic and human rights values. Which is basically - no rights and life for those who don't like me.
Starting with political opposition and ending up with Ossetians and Russian peacekeeping troops.

Bravo, Saakashvili, bravo... Unexpectedly, by your words, the Georgians who have fired from jet installations the city of Tshinval, have turned to Russian, - now there are Russian have destroyed a city! And in general, not clearly, there is a democracy in Georgia or not it, time the president of Georgia is confused in the indications: that seems to it that there is it - it, it appears, still it is necessary to construct. Russia should borrow the Georgian economic model do not pass this pearl! =)))) that particularly had in view of Saakashvilli? What should the Russian Federation send the tenth part of the population (as in Georgia) on earnings abroad, and the others to stuff on vineyards?

???No, I think since last November the attack was in the making by the Russians.???
If it was known in advance that Russia will reply, what was the reason to attack first?
???We can never outmeasure Russia in terms of military equipment, but we certainly can compete with them in terms of principles, our economic and political systems and show them the advantage of freedom and democracy.???
It is true. Lets have a look on political situation in Russia and Georgia.
    Presidential elections:
Russia didn???t allow observers from OECD to come, Saakashvili made it more sofisticated ??? he allowed to observers to see elections, anyway nobody will read that it was violations of law during campaign such as closing opposition Imedi TV, arresting opposition supporters, fake results - everything what Putin was doing in Russia. The main rule is to be defiant ??? nobody will read reports like this
    http://www.osce.org/item/30927.html
    http://www.osce.org/item/29344.html
and specially trained journalists always will prepare information as Saakashvili wants.
One opposition leader died in London ??? I mean Patarkatsishvili. Of coarse, it was no polonium, but it is only because Georgia cannot use as poison radioactive material which called as best friend ??? Poland. Another opposition leader - Okruashvili ??? is now political refugee in France.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irakli_Okruashvili
Even Kasparov in Russia is free to travel to his country.
I don???t see much difference between Putin and Saakashvili. May be first is little bit smarter, but they are both dictators.
Saakashvili is another dictator which ignores all democracy, but loyal to US.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt remarked in 1939 that "Somoza may be a son of a bitch, but he's our son of a bitch."
The same applies to Saakashvili as well.
    Few more comments
???Until this war happened, I heard many liberal-minded Russians say that Russia should emulate Georgia's economic model???
First - Georgia was the poorest country in CIS
Second - Russia did it during Yeltsin times ??? results were terrible.
???But NATO membership means extending a nuclear umbrella. So there is some concern.
I think we are in a situation where NATO has to reinvent itself.???
Why not to change only Georgia ??? or Georgia is the centre of the universe?
???Do you think that if you forgot about NATO membership, Russia would leave you alone?
It is not about NATO. It is about two conflicting systems, two conflicting ideas, two conflicting ways of life.???
He forgot to mention about communism, to make similar with Cold War statements.
???What do you want now from the West?
Money is important but will have a short-term effect.???
Last time money been wasted on weapons???
???In the end, I think America will emerge stronger than most of the world's economies. Because it is still the biggest economy and it is founded on better principles that most of the other economies.???
Flattery is important, when you want some money

Saakashvili perfectly speaks in English and says lies even better. Georgians behaved in Ossetia as retaliatory group SS.Kosovo-Osetija, Serbia-Georgia. Who will explain a difference?

    1. Is simply not true, as about 60% of SO teritory was controlled by Tbilisi - now it's ethnically cleansed of Georgians.
    2. There's no dictatorship in the country where oppositions hangs out on the state TV 24 hours a day
    3. Statement of widespread admiration of Stalin and Beria is simply not true either. The fact that there's a Stalin house preserved in Gori doesn't mean all Georgians are Stalinists. Let alone Beria.
    4. Corruption in Georgia rampant? Don't make my slippers laugh, as they say in Russia. Have you ever done business in Georgia? Or you're getting your information from the Russian media?

And what is the point of your comment? Russians are so big that everyone has to fear them? What this "foreign policy doctrine" has to do with democracy in Georgia? We're lucky that most of the people who make US foreign policy don't think like you do.
