Biden should just stick to the issues and let Caribou Barbie make her own mistakes (and they are legion).

If Palin comes out looking as devisive as McCain, Biden's job will be much easier. I sense that Gov, Palin will try to defend McCain, without understanding the underlying issues. She did it yesterday when Gov. Palin said the US needs to go into Pakistan to get terrorists, then McCain had to recant her statement to the press and, mistakenly, stated that Pakistan was a flawed state....

Palin is a nice person and a talented politician, but she's just not ready for office. Any intellectually honest person has to admit that. If they fail to, they are placing our country in grave danger: If you are going to elect the OLDEST PRESIDENT EVER TO TAKE OFFICE, you have a solemn duty to MAKE SURE YOUR VP IS READY TO BE PRESIDENT.

    • Posted By: BunchofChemies @ 09/29/2008 12:33:10 AM

Perhaps you should review the way she made women pay for their own rape kits while she got a big SUV as mayor. Also, how the judge in her sister's divorce/custody dispute had to make an unusually strong warning against Sarah for the vengeful attacks against her ex-brother-in-law. Also, the way she fired a long time law enforcement official for refusing to fire that ex-brother-in-law. And, the top reason to not accept that she is a nice person: she was in favor of paying $150 per severed wolf foreleg, many obtained by cruel hunting from aircraft.

Oh, and you trust the Democrats without hesitation? FDR was in a wheelchair from polio. JFK couldn't even get up without many painkillers, intravenously. Why are you already saying that John McCain is dead? He will probably outlive you and me!

  • Posted By: jwild @ 09/28/2008 1:22:44 PM

How do you know it's going to be Palin? They might pull her out at the last minute and put Mitt Romney in. Biden should be prepared for this. Palin will focus on anything else but the issues during the debate and try to get sympathy from the voters, but Biden should let her have it because she needs to know what it's like dealing with world leaders which she has no clue of.

You can never teLl what the Republicans will do. Their up to something by just picking her.
I'm sure they have more suprises on the way. CAN'T BE TRUSTED!

    • Posted By: SBfromCA @ 09/28/2008 3:24:35 PM

Ah...as much as I don't think Palin is qualified, I don't believe Mccain will pull her out at this stage of the game. It would be a slap on his own face and acknowleedge to people that he made a mistake by chosing her as his running mate........but then again, nothing has been predicatble of the Mccain campaign lately...who knows! If he did, it will be Joel Leiberman not Mitt Romney.

  • Posted By: BunchofChemies @ 09/28/2008 3:12:22 PM

Prediction of the results of VP debate: 95% of the 30% of voters still calling themselves Republican loudly proclaim a Palin triumph. Everyone else asks, "What the hell was McCain thinking when he picked her?"

    • Posted By: clay7 @ 09/28/2008 10:35:03 PM

He wasn't thinking and he'll continue to make these poor judgements.

America will embrace Sarah after she chops up JoeBlowhard. He will do a ton of damage on his own.

Palin will WOW the nation. She will be viewed as a Heroine and a champion. It will have a HUGE impact on the vote.

Write it down...chalk it up....Palin will smoke Biden.

    NOBAMA!!!

    • Posted By: clay7 @ 09/28/2008 10:26:59 PM

Wake up! What are you so impressed with? The way this country is right now you think she is going to help?!!! Do you realize if something happens to McCain (if he wins) she will be president??!! God help us! Is this the best you Republicans can do? WHY can't you see the damage the Republicans have done over the past 8 years...and their still now done. You want more of this. Or maybe you are one of the wealthy that benefit from their evil ways.

    • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 09/28/2008 8:18:13 PM

I agree with Holly Roller, Palin has after all been protected from witches by her Rev Muthee, and when she becomes VP and Muthee becomes the White house religious advisor, he will rid the entire United States of America of witches.
After he runs all those little old ladies out of town and blows the brains out of their little puppies, (they no doubt are possessed), The United States of America will be a better place...just in time for Armageddon, which I figure will happen about Valentines day, three weeks after Palin takes office.

    • Posted By: olderwiser @ 09/28/2008 5:58:58 PM

We anxiously await this event. Wow.

      • Posted By: olderwiser @ 09/28/2008 6:03:52 PM

And, oh, Roller, I don't believe that there is a tele-prompter with the answers to the questions in the debates. If Palin smokes during the debate, it will have to be those "roll your own" smokes. Good luck, Sarah.

  • Posted By: carolo @ 09/28/2008 10:22:50 PM

Palin sees the moon and thinks she's an Astronaut..

  • Posted By: carolo @ 09/28/2008 10:15:57 PM

Palin should get a headache and stay home so I won't get one from trying to watch her and take in that screeching voice of hers.

Sarah can't connect with the average American and the financial crisis they are currently going through as her family just received roughly $22,400.00 from the state of Alaska in Permanent Fund Dividends and fuel relief aid. Alaska, the state of which she is the executive, is one of the richest states in the U.S. PLEASE!................

Your advice for McSame's VP, to come across as caring, etc....well, okay, maybe that's her best hope, but there are at least two problems with that...first, everyone already knows that she's a contentious witch and second, the heart beat away thing matters...she needs to sound knowledgable and intelligent...a high order for this sad excuse for a VP.

  • Posted By: RO in Reno @ 09/28/2008 7:59:02 PM

Sarah will do fine without a teleprompter, GW is going to loan her the transciever he had straped to his back in his debate with Kerry, she'll get instant advice and won't even have to say "I'll get back to you on that" not even once.

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow a economist named bob proctor who has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown ,and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
Is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
Banks in the US are going under one after the other. Country wide the largest morgage bank in the world
Bear Stearns and Lehman brothers , and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms.
And now Fanny and Freddy which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.
The goverment took them over because they are essentially bankrupt.
If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash
And we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before
The future of these companies will fall into the hands of our next president
Bush just like Mcain doesn't understand the economy.
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it
He does not understand exactly what is broken. Its no surprise that he doesnt. The people that make up these
securities use complex math models very few people understand.
Bush and mccain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.

Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks take risks with all of our future.
Now Phil Graham is the head of mccains economic policy ,and mccain wants to make him the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time bush met with his economic advisors was in march. He either didnt realize or didnt care that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy in our lifetime.
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as bush has done mccain would be
incredibly worse because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like bush did but a tanking economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 deficit. Most of Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will do get what you have always __________
When it comes to policy bush and mccain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?

The chairman of mcains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues

they vote on a personality composite which means. He is trying to sell you personality instead of results.

He believes people will vote against there own self interests.

Lets teach him we are smarter then that .

Hold them accountable now while it will still help

    Elect Obama Biden 2008

In 2005, for the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill, S. 190, was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets. If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

      http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aSKSoiNbnQY0

In support of S 190, also known as the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, John McCain said: "For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO's report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO's report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay."

      http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=109-s20060525-16

Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 would have Amended the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act of 1992 to establish: (1) in lieu of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), an independent Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Agency which shall have authority over the Federal Home Loan Bank Finance Corporation, the Federal Home Loan Banks, the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac); and (2) the Federal Housing Enterprise Board.
Most importantly with regard to the CDS situation, S. 190 set forth operating, administrative, and regulatory provisions respecting: (1) assessment authority; (2) authority to limit nonmission-related assets; (3) minimum and critical capital levels; (4) risk-based capital test; (5) capital classifications and undercapitalized enterprises; (6) enforcement actions and penalties; (7) golden parachutes; and (8) reporting. Adoption of these regulatory provisions would have undoubtably affected the way CDSs were dealt with in "private" enterprises.
The bill would have also amended the Federal Home Loan Bank Act to establish the Federal Home Loan Bank Finance Corporation., and transfered the functions of the Office of Finance of the Federal Home Loan Banks to such Corporation. If this had been in place three years ago, this whole situation might have been averted.

The only reason John McCain changed his tune on deregulation vs. regulation was his own involvment in the Keating 5 mess. He's like a reformed whatever - once they have seen the light no one else knows anything. It's like they were never wrong in the first place.
John McCain is nothing more than an opportunist at the expense of all Americans.

You say define the job and convince people you fit the definition - Sarah Palin didn't even know what the duties of the vice president was let alone have any qualifications. In many instances being the Veep is no big deal - in this one the man is old, has had multiple bouts of cancer and may not live long enough to finish one, let alone two terms. We should be very frightened of this woman. It also isn't enough to like how Sarah Palin looks or how she comes across - the issue here is that she is not qualified period.

I strongly think that Joe Biden is going right in there to show her how to deal with a person who has all the facts straight right out of the horse's mouth - Joe's. He will not be sarcastic towards her...he's far too much of a knowledgeable gentleman "...who knows better than that...".

He will, however, drive her insane with his know-how and she will want to run away...believe me...if she
thinks she can outsmart Joe Biden, then, she better come prepared for a good fight on the court of federal political leadership.

I think she better be prepared for the unknown...because Joe will put her right where she belongs...in
the doghouse...he will chew her up in such a nice way...just wait and see...I can clearly see it now.

He is definitely not going to allow her to knock him out...au contraire...

    John McCain's Naval Academy.

By: Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.

An important presidential election record will be broken this year, it is not the first time that a woman or Black person will be elected to the Executive office. We will be witnessing a great American tragedy unfold right before our eyes. It is one of the rare occasions when a native son will not be elected by his own state. To make it worse, such native son is the greatest hero in an area which has always been the pride and joy of that state. Correct me if I am wrong! I have hardly heard any one at the Republican Convention or during their campaign mentioned the Annapolis Naval Academy, not even McCain himself. Being born in Panama to a naval family and travel all over this country and the world, McCain really does not have a true home. Arizona is a states he used for election to Congress which he has not visited frequently. The Navy Academy is the only place McCain can really call his home in which he had spent the happiest time of his college life with his navy friends. Maryland should welcome her naval native son with open arms and elect him as president.

Unfortunately, Maryland have 1.6 million Black or approximately 30 % of the state's population or making it the "Black Capital" near of the real U. S. Capital. It was 36 % to 61% (almost double) in favor of Obama over Hillary during the primary there. All media and people there have expressed the sad fact that little or no Marylanders will vote for McCain. I personally don't like McCain very much but my conscience forced me to campaign for him. This episode is not only the greatest disgrace of all Americans but also of that of the human race. It is an unforgivable sin committed by all Marylanders and her Black racists. I suggest the Government relocates its Naval Academy out of Maryland. Arizona is probably not a good location because it is a desert and has no water for the navy people. McCain should decide where it is going to move to depending on whether that state has voted for him. This time, the true and only battle ground states (Armageddon) are not Ohio, Florida or Michigan but Maryland. The decision is not who is going to become president? But whether God had made a mistake in creating man?

As usual with this letter I, as Prophet of Environment, have ended this election right here and now. People, advertisement and media don't bother to comment on the election again. It will a waste of our time.

Democratic supporters have made references to John McCain???s class rank at Annapolis.
John McCain has explained that demerits can also lower class rank and that as a freshman he stood up to upper classmen shipmates who were bullying his fellow classmates and as a consequence he received numerous demerits which lowered his rank. Importantly also,
at least John McCain did not break the Annapolis honor code. One could argue that if John McCain broke the honor code he might have had a higher class rank. The Honor code at Annapolis parallels the Air Force Academy Honor Code which state we will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does. Cheating scandals have occurred at the Air Force Academy in 1965, 1967, 1972, 1984, 2004 and 2007. In 1965, 1 hundred and nine cadets were expelled from the Air Force Academy for their involvement in cheating. There have also been numerous cheating scandals at West Point and Annapolis which has resulted in permanent expulsion of those involved. The military academies treat cheating scandals similar to law enforcement academies. A military officer can order troops into battle and their integrity should be above reproach when they placing their men in harms way. Similarly the testimony of a law enforcement officer can send someone away to prison for thirty years or even result in a death sentence so no cheating during academic training can be tolerated. The word and integrity of all federal, state, and local law enforcement officers can not be even remotely questioned. The City of Irving Texas recently fired over half of a recent police academy training class because there was organized cheating. So whether in law enforcement or the military, cheating can not be tolerated. As President, John McCain will be commander in chief and Sarah Palin can also step into that role and both can say that they were never involved in a cheating incident and their command to go to battle will not be questioned. It has been reported that Joe Biden had to repeat his first year law school legal research and writing class because there were questions regarding plagiarism. In the military academies or law enforcement academies there would not have been a second chance for Joe.

Maybe Barack was thinking about Joe when he said that small town rural Americans cling to religion and guns in tough times. It must have been real tough times during his first year of law school that Joe Biden clung to his religion in deciding to use an academic product of his own faith, Fordham Law Review to commit plagiarism. Joe Biden did more than cling to religion, he clung so hard that he ended up taking substantial chunks out of the Fordham Law Review and failed and had to repeat his legal research and writing class as a result.

Do you find yourself often bumping into things due to your aggressive blindness? It's fine if you support someone for illogical reasons, but to try and flesh them out in writing for those who are not so gullible is really rather sad.

4th from the bottom because of demerits? How many did he get - 4000?

I believe that you are still stuck on the 2004 presidential race. And also, that idiotic mantra, "they will follow us home" crap finally died, too.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 09/28/2008 5:54:31 PM

The vice presidential debate will probably comprise more time that we have seen Sarah Palin talking in public on national television than all of her previous appearances before a national audience. Most of that was done while reading a speech at the Republican National Convention, written by someone else and loaded with a lot of cute zingers in derogation of Barack Obama.
A couple of interviews followed that and one needn't relate how those went, but they were not very informative in allowing us to know what she thinks about things relating to the function of the presidency, especially in the matter of foreign policy.
We have, on the other hand, seen a lot of candidate Biden in the Democratic primaries and, of course, on the daily news through the years and we know who he is, the bitter with the sweet.
I want to listen carefully to candidate Palin's views on both domestic and foreign matters, particularly on how she might conduct a war, if one became necessary during her reign, because the way things have been going, this might be one of the very few times we really get to know if she qualifies for national office.
Mrs. Palin was very free with her attacks on Senator Obama during the Republican Convention and I disagree, in light of her propensity to be so free of her criticism of Obama, that Senator Biden should not give her a fair share of such treatment in return. Vladimir Putin should be kept in mind as one of her potential adversaries and surely we jest when we say that she should be handled with kid gloves and not know if she is capable of even staying in the same room without crying while in toe to toe battle with whatever foreign power might decide that she should not be coddled.
We'd better get real and get tough while there is still time to see who is actually running for office here. And please, while we are at it here, let's just quit saying that being a mother or a father qualifies one to be president. That is just pure horse hockey.
