Wow. So snoop dog's friends are finally registering to vote and they're going to have a fit if they lose. Why does that make my skin crawl? I can't claim to be an ex-con or a gang member, so maybe I just don't understand. I'm 64 years old and have been voting every election since I was eligible because I am an American and it is my great privilege to vote. I have never based my voting activities on the motivation that "I know we'll win."

To answer the question posted by the headline: What will they do if Obama loses? Riot, I suppose. Isn't that usually what the black community does when they don't get their way on public issues? (And my question there is not ignorant rhetoric. We lived in California for 3 decades and had nice, close up, bullet-laced riots more than once in which the black community expressed their disappointment with outcomes.)

Protests if Obama doesn't win??? This sort of scare tactic may have worked to get OJ off the hook after the Rodney King riot, however this is a totally different ball game as it effects all of the USA not just LA, or Kansas (rioting over the skinhead march). The only grounds for a protest will be if there is proven cheating by the Republicans or Democrates. Authors like Allison Samuels are only throwing firewood under the melting pot called the USA. We all have to live togeather in the USA, and everyone has the option to renounce our citizenship, and move to another country that supports our person views. A vast majority of americans are supporting their political parties, and if Obama was a Republican the shoe would be on the other foot. I'm white, and if Collin Powell and Condelisa Rice were running they would have my vote as they are both proven leaders. If we all stop asking what our leaders can do for us, and instead ask what we can do for our country, the number one thing would be to get along with each other, and bring racism to a end. The world is watching us now, and so are the terrorist. We can't afford to show them that the easiest way to defeat the USA is to provoke a racial war becouse if we do they will sure try, and that's not even mentioning all the other countries that would love to see the USA fall. We the people need to be strong and not fall into the trap called racism.

I am so sick of hearing about this black man running for president. What a bunch of idiots. For one thing he is just as much white as he is black.I do not think that the woman who carried him for nine months is black in fact he received most of his child rearing from whites.I have never met a black person who was not a racist. This whole race crap is a joke.Blacks are not very smart. They always mistake kindness for weakness. If I was black I would be very careful about what my reaction would be if Obama lost. Most whites that I know are sick of blacks special treatment and I know in my all white community we welcome any type of violence to solve these racial issues. We can solve these issues very quickly. The old fashioned way.

Hey Hermman Goering cool down the tone, we are only discussing ideas so far

  • Posted By: The Dominican @ 09/28/2008 11:54:48 PM

America hasn't changed when blacks wait a president which will give them redemption and america has not changed when blacks vote for a guy only for his skin color and not for his ideas... If Obama wins then the whites will taste a soup of their own? If Obama wins the Black power will take control of america? come on!!!

  • Posted By: The Dominican @ 09/28/2008 11:43:00 PM

African American fear a defeat? That title suggest there is many walls to be tear down in America, if they are voting for a guy because is black then america still is behind , they must vote for a guy which represents good ideas for a better goverment, not for his skin color, that demonstrates that america still waits for the MLK dream, sad tittle and sad reasons for vote... What is their hopes that a black president will punish the whites and place them to taste what historically blacks suffered? come on!!!!

I am wondering if you can describe exactly what does it mean to be a socialist nowadays. Can you match socialist policies with Barrack Obama???s policies on the economic, social, political, and geopolitical level?
I have serious doubts that Obama is a socialist. His policies do not yield to an American system that is similar to the French system. (Far, far away)
Obama understands the concept of free market capitalism and believe in it. He is the only one who pinpoints the disadvantages of this system and wants to alleviate them.
Obama seems to understand geopolitical stakes and takes into consideration the cultural context in Iraq. The reason why the US failed in Vietnam is because the US did not take into account the Vietnamese culture. Obama understands that the US is spending too much money on this war because the US overlooks the Iraqi culture and fails to have the right strategy.
The war which we are engaged since 2003 in Iraq for the wrong reasons will have dire consequences for the next generation. Fortunately, Obama understands that and he will be able to adjust the course of this dangerous trend of a long long long war.
Obama understands that the Bush???s politic of failure have already impacted negatively how foreign countries especially big powers see the US.
Obama understands that countries like Russia, China, North Korea are stronger than before. He understands also that Europe is more united than before. Therefore, he knows that it will be dangerous to adopt the same strategy. He understands that we must reevaluate theses countries and have a new strategy.
Obama understands that Europe is an ally when we are engaged in war with right motives like in Afghanistan. It is difficult for the US to convince Europe???s allies to go to Iraq because they do not think that motives were right.
Obama understands that a person take a decision that will impact his or her life with cautious and serious. Therefore, Obama understands issues like abortion, gay marriage have to be dealt with their root-causes.
I do not think that people vote for ideas in this country: Black, Hispanic or White people.
Our vote is influenced by our education, upbringing, and social environment.

Someone please explain something to me. I am not being racist i just do not understand something. In this world, there is a certain defining image and tone of profesionalism. Neat busines attire and slang free speak are mandatory to participate in the business world. With this in mind, how can the parents of black kids allow them to walk around with pants hanging around their thighs, shirts way too big and language that barely resembles english. I hope i did not offend but please defend this cultural differance and justify how this is smart in regards to your childrens future sucess

I have just the answer for you. Go to your TV, Internet or other media source and look at all the white girls with their brests hanging out, drunken sluts and sex tapes. Then take a look at all the wihite kids with tattoos all over there bodies and arms, some covering the total limbs, Then take a look at all who have orange or pink hair, who take meth, sell their parents prescriiption drugs, have piercings all over their bodies, have dui's, have multiple sex partners, shoot up entire school systems killing their classmates, hiring others to kill their parents.......need I go on? The point is that wrong is not limited to one race.....open your eyes and see the whole picture.

I find it amazing that the point of the article is saying how hope will be lost if this one person (Obama) does not become president mainly due to racism. The article does not present that Obama is a *presidential candidate* who has very little experience. It should be expected that he should lose to someone who has more experience. The fact that Obama has risen to such a highly selected position (candidate) with such little experience should give insight that racism is dying and is almost dead. Imagine if McCain had as little experience as Obama. Do you honestly feel McCain would be the Republican candidate? So, why is it that all hope for African Americans will be lost when Obama loses? When an African American who has substantial experience runs for president who can instill inspiration into people, he or she will win. Very few have both those qualities. McCain doesn't instill inspiration into the majority of people, but he has experience and people look up to him because of the strength he should as a POW (deciding not to be released early due to preferential treatment without the other POWs also being released). I am a democrat, and almost all my views fall in line with the democratic party, but I cannot vote for someone who has as limited experience as Obama. I am white, but I guarantee you when the day comes (and it should be soon) when an African American (whether it's in 10 years and Obama has made achievements or another person) *decides* (there are African Americans who have those qualities who are not running) to run who has experience and inspires people, my vote will be for that person.

It seems that Obama sides more with the blacks than he does with the whites. The real problem here is that if Obama loses, the blacks as always are going to turn to violence and demonstrate just to make a point that they will be who they are and blah, blah, blah and we are not gong to change.

    • Posted By: CVHarrell @ 09/28/2008 11:24:36 PM

Its truly sad for you.. we do not have to protest or demonstrate in the event that Barack Obama looses which he will not. Because for one he has 98% of the African American Vote. The media tries to discount this. The laws are trying to discourage us from voting by bringing up old laws. But just like always when it comes to the Black Family we all are brothers and sisters and we stick together. Can you say that about your kind. You will stab each other in the back sure as your name is cracker.

Comment: If we are going to have true representation in this country it should be mandatory for the tickets of both parties to be split having both a male and a female as running mates. Women are the largest minority and have never gotten into the highest office in the land in all of America's history! Women were the last to get the vote as well. That aside, I will vote for the candidates that demonstrate the widest range of representation. I like that Sarah Palin holds office as a governor, thinks even an imperfect baby is worth having and loving. As a nurse, I see her Actions in not aborting that baby as compassionate-and with so many of us baby boomers getting older-someone like Sarah Palin is probably not going to expect us to "die with dignity" read "not be a drag on the Health care system/economy", when push comes to shove-even in a bad economy. I want the candidates that put Life first. I expect whoever gets into office to get us out of the middle east-but in a way that our troops support. Their opinions should have the heaviest weigh-in on the strategy to end the war because it is they who are in the front lines-not the rest of us -who may or may not be getting the real story of what is going on over there.

We should remain a mystery at this point. If we didn't arrive here on the first boat, we were on the second. The fact remains that we have been in this country far longer than the immigrant lineage of most white Americans. We have died for this country as chattel and as patriots. Our reward(?)...delayed citizenship and a systematic campaign of terror wrought against our people. Even today we remain the subject of scorn, most often judged by the worst elements in our community rather than our finest (could anyone imagine all white Americans being judged by trailer trash in Appalachia?) Despite being an intrinsic part of the United States, we remain a mystery, which is a shame. Instead of reading an article about what black Americans will do if Obama isn't elected, we should be reading an article on why white Americans don't know more about black Americans.

As a person who believes in justice and fairness, it would be easy to jump on my high horse and say, "It is just so wrong for black people to vote for someone because he's black and that, if he were to lose, it would be because he was cheated." But, I'm white. I don't know what it's like to turn on the TV and see mainly white people dominating the airwaves, whether it would be the news, sitcoms or talk shows. I don't know what it's like to turn on the radio and hear people like Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage hammering their racist views on a daily basis. I don't know what it's like to wake up everyday and walk out of my dangerous, project laden community into a predominantly white, affluent, safe neighborhood. I don't know what it's like to fear the police, the ones that are supposed to protect me, because of my skin color. I don't know and will never know these things. So, how can I judge a black person for feeling that they just don't have a chance in this country, that the odds are against them? I can't. And, I won't. Yes, in an ideal world, every single voter would make their choice based on who they think would be best to lead their country, regardless of race or gender. But, this is not an ideal world. It's a world still feeling the pain of so many wrongdoings since the beginning of time. And if you are so fortunate as to belong to a group of people that was never victimized by injustice, God bless you. But don't put down and try to take the voice away of those who aren't so lucky.

Idiot. Black people are dentists, lawyers, policemen, judges, and often your superior. MOSt blacks are in the MAINSTREAM. They don't listen to hip-hop or watch black sitcoms anymore than you do. They simply live their lives as Americans FIRST. Hard to believe, you racist piece of crap? They don;t need "waking up". They are awake. They shop at Wal-Mart. They watch the same movies you do and laugh. But you are so hung up on making them into the 5% of blacks that the media loves that you disgustingly attribute that to ALL blacks. The IGNORANT FOOL is you, jackass. And your patronizing tone is sickening, and betrays you as the racist you really are. "Black" people need your help? Black people "don't have a chance"? Condoleeza Rice. Colin Powell. Richard Pryor. Oscar Peterson. Morgan Freeman. Bill Cosby- and he's probably one that would punch you in your stupid condescending white nose and break it for you. Rush has a racist view? No, you do, massah geryt. YOU are the racist.Go look in the mirror, you "selfless" "helpful" massah. The "wrongdoings" come from smug condescending "helpers" like you. Please kill yourself, ASAP. Do the entire world, black, white, etc. a favor. And God does NOT bless you, but will forgive you for finding a razor blade with your name on it.

How utterly disappointing. I could only make it through roughly 5% of the postings to this article before becoming physically repulsed. I know that racism exists. It is everywhere. But damn, just when you think we are moving forward as a society, as a nation, a slightly provacative story like this comes out and all hell breaks loose (and I say "slightly" provactive because many of the readers clearly missed the point of the article). The latent anger and hate spews forth like an exploding volcano.

Dare I say I expected *more* from you all??? Absolutely sickening. Ask more of yourself. Ask more from others. We all deserve better than that illustrated here. I will choose to believe that this is simply an example of national outlet for cowards who hide behind their keyboards and perpetuate hate and bigotry. Shame on you. And frankly, for those to whom I am referring, you are precisely the reason I work so very hard, day in and day out. You will one day be gone and the rest of us will smile and finally experience peace. Blog now - your days are numbered.

We should be not a mystery. America should know about about the black community at this point, making articles such as this obsolete. If we weren't on the first boat, we were on the second. We've been here longer than most Americans with European ancestry. We've endured unspeakable tragedy, hardship and hatred although we've shed blood out of love for this country. Yet we are still judged by the worst elements of our community rather than by our best. Instead of reading an article concerned what the black community will do if Obama loses, we should be reading an article questioning why so many white Americans still know so little about black Americans.

If the clowns at "Newsweek" and the rest of the left wing media outlets had the guts to really dig into Obama's political past, they would be imploring every one to not vote for Obama. I'm a Canadian, anf the thought of Obama becoming president of the US, scares the hell out of me.

You really should go to barackobama.com and you will get more specifics on his plans and where he stands on the issues. Generally, speeches and debates are not the ideal venues to get specifics. Don't be scared...do your due diligence and read.

I'm a white, 65 year old woman who has been impressed with Obama since he started running for the Senate. From day one, I knew he would get my vote. People think that all black will vote for Obama simply because of color which is as wrong as thinking that all women would vote for Hillary or all white men for McCain. Obama is very, very intelligent, poised, polished and ready. He picked a man who is excellent as a running mate and the two of them together will be a force. I drive around my all white town with my Obama stickers on my car proudly.

What is allowed and what is DONE are two different things! Voter fraud extends to typical citizens just wanting to "help" thirer favorite candidate! Contact ACORN for more information if you're a democrat and wanting to do some voter fraud!

The blacks are smarter than the whites, as they will consistantly sell their votes to the highest bidder. This has created for them the mentality of entitlement which has robbed tehm as a race of the self estem of earnership--leading to the problems they have despite 50 yrs of affirmative racism and trilloins of taxpayers dollars given to them to buy their votes.

many white voters will idealistically vote to continue this second enslavement of the blacks while simultaneously cutting their own throats.

If one really wants to hear the truth and can abide the black cultural presentation and listen to the message, consider the following:

OK, !st, Clinton did try to go after Bin Laden, when he did he hsd the brilliant republican leadership accusing him of diverting attention away from Monica. As if someone would use a war and domestic tragedy for political gain, oh someone did W. a republican. Noone could have seen the tragedy of 9/11 coming unlees they actually read the summations of the previous administration but missing w,s on keyboards was more important. Clinton did miss a chance at Bin laden but at that time Bin Laden was just a rich blowhard, we still need proof in this country to kill someone, before Bush came along that is, And when he did come along he was much more interested in polluting our drinking water, a non-existent death tax, invading Iraq, and missile defense than any pesky terrorist thing. I would love to say it was just Bush this was republican/Nixon era ideaology coming to fruition. And the still want to argue about Bill getting a hummer, can anyone say priortize. Ihope someone can cause I can't spell it.
