    Seriously, the failure demonstrated in much of these comments is to assume that others in the world think as we do. NO ONE ever went to war believing they would loose, yet wars are a intergral part of man's existance through the presentHere is how a nuclear attack on New York happens (roughly)There is the flash in NY harbor, @ a couple million anti american surrendercrats go ups in smoke, and millions more left whailingRescue efforts for months, and investigaitons as to who, how etcOf course Iran, N Korea, Russia are all suspects of the source of device, but all denyEvidence is sketchy, of course, and months go byIntel suggests source was ,say Iran,with device smuggled out through muslamistan, to Indonesia to Venezula, loaded on Panamanian Freighter...Iran denies, Russia and N Korea vow to support Iran if US threatens RetaliationMeanwhile, the liberal surrendercrats at home, question the intel, point fingers, cry out for the rights of the innocent Iranian people, who will be harmed if action is taken against the action of their leadership...yada, yada, yadaWHen your enemies think this will happen, BECAUSE THIS WHAT WILL HAPPEN, they are emboldened to act.Can you see it? Be honest, Can YOU SEE IT??? So the good news is that the insurance compainies will not have to pay off for an act of war, and the influence of AMerica's greatest enemies, AMericans who hate America, is decreased.

(not scare tactics--just recent headlines)And everyone knows Iran is working toward and will achieve nuclear capacitySo Obama gets elected and follows through on his promise to "dramatically curtail spending ont the unproven missle defense program". And likely act to repeal the Patriot ActANd he emphasizes his plans for universal health coverage (Cost @ 500 Billion EACH YEAR!!!) while promising tax cuts so obviously he planns on eviscerating the militaryEvery map of the US shows the liberals are concentrated geographically in the northeast and the west coastNow if you consider that if North Korea where to strike the US it will certainly be in California

Poor Louisiana, one year their enlightened citizens had the choice for governor between the former Grand Dragon, Wizzard, or select your favorite D&D character of the KKK (R) and the convicted felon (D). . . . and we all wonder what is wrong with the political system in this country.     I agree with what many have posted here. Even though most of us that will be voting will be doing so on reasons other than race. However, this article has brought up the issue of race, which has caused many to feel the need to address. I must say that I have met many more racist black persons that I have white persons. I think this is because many black people have been raised to be suspicious and untrusting when it comes to their interactions white people. Much of this comes from paranoia passed down from generation to generation due to the way black people's grandparents and great grandparents were treated by white people. I say what I am about to say not to be mean and not because I am a racist in any sense of the word. I think it is about time that black people knock the chip off their shoulder and remember that what happened to their grandparents and great grandparents is long over and did not happen to them. And if they want for racism to be done away with, they (black people) need to stop their whining and realize that they are afforded the same rights and priviliges as white people and perhaps then some. Get over it and stop being haters! I don't have a problem with you and please stop assuming I do and stop trying to stab me in the back in the work place and otherwise. Everyone shouldn't have to feel like they need to be afraid of you stirring up trouble just because you are a certain race. And that goes for potential riots if Obama doesn't win the presidency.

      As a fellow white person, I'm afraid it is painfully apparent that you are, in fact, the very person you purport not to be....a racist. I know, I know. How *dare* I actually say that to you, right? The difference, however, is that blinded by white privilege you have no insight into the ways in which your views serve to support and condone long-standing biases that are still very much in existence. Are you actually implying that somehow racism is perpetuated at the hands of black people as a result of unfounded "leftover" paranoia? The very fact that you expressed such an idea publicly demonstrates that you are very unaware of the experience of minorities. Perhaps if you spent half as much time investing in acquiring knowledge of how these views influence the nature of human relations (I suggest Derald Wing Sue's work on microaggression and forms of covert racism) than ranting how other groups should "stop whining and get over it" you would most likely overcome your latent racist instincts. We all harbor underlying discriminatory views,,,it is human. Just do better. Be open and honest with yourself, and then do better. You owe it to yourself and the rest of us. Best wishes.

    I am a white woman, and I will be in mourning if Obama does not win. I really am worried about the dispair I will feel for our country. I will be disheartened that so many do not see the us/them, fear tactics of the republican party and do not find it alarming. I will be saddened to think that there are still so many whites that won't vote for a black man. Obama gives me hope that we can change the way our country does things, that we can restore our respectablitly in the eyes of the world and that we can do it while behaving in an honorable way. My friends and I, other 40 something white women, have already planned the day after the elections, We are taking the day off because we are too afraid that if Obama loses we will not want to face society. And if he wins we will spend the day celebrating.

I am volunteering and blogging for Obama because I want to experience the day my country torn down it's most haunting wall of injustice. My children, and my children's children will live in a better world if they see hatred defeated.

    I have an issue with the comment "you think white people are going to just turn over the keys............" As a white person who whole heartedly supports Barrack Obama I find that comment extremely offensive. Every day I see white people supporting him, dicussing the issues this country faces and their excitement over him being our next president. Not because he is black but because he is simply speaking something that has been lost for SO long! Common sense! Obama has not said anything other than plain old common sense and it has been so absent from this country that people see it as something new. I am thrilled that we are finally getting someone who "gets it." Smart and articulate. I believe our foreign relations will improve drastically. I believe there will again be someone in the White House who will care about us in the middle and lower income brackets. I believe my daughter will have a better chance at going to college. John Mccain? Forget it! Sarah Palin? A complete moron! Does the Black community really believe that ALL white people will vote for just anyone simply because they are white?? If that were true, Obama would not be in the final days before taking office. I am convinced, he WILL win! Hell will freeze over before I vote for ANYONE simply because of the color of their skin!

    As a person who believes in justice and fairness, it would be easy to jump on my high horse and say, "It is just so wrong for black people to vote for someone because he's black and that, if he were to lose, it would be because he was cheated." But, I'm white. I don't know what it's like to turn on the TV and see mainly white people dominating the airwaves, whether it would be the news, sitcoms or talk shows. I don't know what it's like to turn on the radio and hear people like Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage hammering their racist views on a daily basis. I don't know what it's like to wake up everyday and walk out of my dangerous, project laden community into a predominantly white, affluent, safe neighborhood. I don't know what it's like to fear the police, the ones that are supposed to protect me, because of my skin color. I don't know and will never know these things. So, how can I judge a black person for feeling that they just don't have a chance in this country, that the odds are against them? I can't. And, I won't. Yes, in an ideal world, every single voter would make their choice based on who they think would be best to lead their country, regardless of race or gender. But, this is not an ideal world. It's a world still feeling the pain of so many wrongdoings since the beginning of time. And if you are so fortunate as to belong to a group of people that was never victimized by injustice, God bless you. But don't put down and try to take the voice away of those who aren't so lucky.

    If the clowns at "Newsweek" and all the other left wing media outlets had the guts to really dig in to Obama's political past, they would be discouraging people from voting for him. Sure the guy's smart and articulate, but scrape away the lofty tones, the "change" mantra, and what's left? Nothing! I have not heard him say anything of substance.     Let me tell you something - I am a middle class white woman who is 49 years old and I feel like these African American folks do. I live in Ohio and I saw the election stolen by Bush in 2000 and tampered with again in 2004 thanks to Ken Blackwell who is an African American republican. Republicans will do whatever it takes to win an election. They play dirty politics. Obama is a new and different type of politician and that is what we need in this new century. I love Obama. I love what he stands for and his ability to communicate what he believes and how he wants to get this country back on track. I remember the civil rights movement and MLK from my childhood. I was 3 when Kennedy was killed. I don't want something like that to happen to Obama. I want him to win the election and be able to carry out his plans and ideas for his full term. Hopefully two terms. God deliver us from the narrow minded bigots and the people who hide their bigotry behind the phrase "he's just not experienced." Are you telling me that G.W. was experienced? Spare me if that is experience. Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago?

    I must say that those quoted are sooooooooo wrong. Why did Al Gore Lose? He won the same nomination Obama won and race had nothing to do with it. John Kerry lost after winning the same nomination that Obama won? Race has not only blinded many whites into delusion and evil, but many blacks from being able to see simple truth. No Democatic nominee has "come this far and thus deserves to win". It happens often, more often than not in the last 40 years. That said, I think Obama will win, not because of his race but on the issues.

      I am not looking for the govt. to fix anything in my life but I sure do not need them screwing it up either. I am sick of the financial mess we are in that the likes of Bush and other republicans like McCain have gotten us into (Phil Gramm anyone?) I am tired of no good paying jobs in my state. I am sick of big oil making huge profits while we pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas (McCain believes they deserve more tax breaks). I am sick of our environment being desecrated for the almighty dollar. (Drill, baby drill!) i am sick of the so-called NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND debacle, which has done nothing to address the problems of our schools but just costs states and school districts more money to pay for standardized testing. I am tired of lawlessness as this current administration has ignored subpeonas and will not be held accountable for the underhanded deals they have perpetrated on the American public. (Pardon Scooter. and the DOJ will only hire someone if they are a conservative republican} I am tired of cronyism and the good old boys network (you're doing a heckuva job Brownie!) that has been in control for the last 8 years. And don't give me the bs that Bush isn't running because the same jokers who helped him get "elected" twice are also running McCain's campaign. And McCain has tied himself to Bush because he has voted with him more than 90% of the time. He is no different than Bush except he has a worse temper and is in declining health and mental capacity. This country does not need a grumpy old man who barely graduated from the Naval Academy without help from daddy. He has never been anything but an opportunist. And don't give me the same old tired story about him being a POW. That does not qualify him to be the President. Also his character was quite prominent when he dumped wife #1 because of her deformity and married the rich beer heiress to bankroll his political career and by the way can we also mention the Keating 5? I also do not believe he needs to be making judgments about who should be the next supreme court justice(s). I'll keep my right to choose what I'll do with my own body thank you very much. Besides he didn't even have good judgment choosing his own vp. If Lincoln and T.R can see what their GOP has turned into they are probably spinning in their graves. As for blaming the dems in congress they have only had a slight majority in the last 2 years, not enough to override a veto so basically the republicans have made the problems we see today. It is definitely time for a change, and it can't come too soon. Let a democrat have a chance to get us out of the mess we are in. Even though I wasn't a fan of Bill Clinton at least my savings weren't tanking, this country had prosperity, we weren't in a never ending war costing us blood and treasure, and there was no deficit when he left office.

      That is exactly my sentiments. Thats one thing that Im surprised McCain never really hammered home, is that Bush's approval rating is low but congress is in the garbage. If Obama wins and they have all the freedom, our country, but by the Grace of God, is gone.
