A lot of white people believe that black people will riot if Obama loses the election. What does this say about black people? It says that they'll create chaos and destruction at the drop of a hat. It says that white people believe that black people do not have the capactiy to act with honor and integrity and work hard for the great things America has to offer. Part of me agrees - lack of education leads to frustration and anger - and frustration and anger could lead to rioting and chaos if Obama loeses.

So what if he loses. There are winners and losers in everthing the people in the United States do. Besides if he really, truly showed ALL the voters he had a grasp on what a president needs to do but he does not. Please ask yourselves after you listen to what he says. What did he just say? Bet most of you can't figure it out, very few of us can. Know why!!! Because Obama knows how to do the Talk but not the Walk. Try it some time. And, do you all think, he is really going to do everything he promises. Of course, get real, no president has ever accomplished that. Each president has to the entire Congress to deal with. Not to many like his socialist promises.

Obama represents hope and change to some people who've experienced a lot of pain and failure. They've dared to hope again. They are trying to process how they will feel if their symbol of hope loses. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to process that. Just someone with a heart of any size.

Freedom101- What a bunch of garbage! Katrina- natural disaster not caused by any president , and the lowest approval rating ever in the history of Washingto is held by the Democratic lead COngress. That right, That's right, the very party your candidate represents has a lower approval rating than the president you dislike and say is and iI quote " evil". I guess that doesn't say much for your candidate or party. Goodluck in lala land. Just think if Obama does get elected, the media will have nothing to report about the Republicans as the Dems will have the majority. One part of me hopes he will be elected so the country will never take the radical Dem seriously ever again, that is of course, if his community organizer experience does not kill us all.

I think this whole process of some people being so enlightened IF obama wins.is funny .....
and what do you exactly think this man will do with this broken economy? I personally feel that we dont have quality choices to vote for anymore because most people see whats happening in government and they dont want the job. We have serious problems in our country, and I feel embarrassed and offended when I hear the blacks still harping away about their rights and their whatever it is they constantly complain about. You see, the complaning worked for a few years, but now they are seen as just whiners and nobody listens or even wants to hear it. Let me just throw something out there .............. Comapred to the diverse population in the states recently, it seems that the white people will soon be the minority. Can we go to college free and get jobs whether we are qualified or not, just simply because we are a minority? You say no? oh ok, I guess we will just have to keep on working, paying our taxes, just trying to stay afloat ........... oh wait, thats what we have been doing. reality check

Caging and other poll techniques to disenfranchise voters are just some of the many ways the nation feels this election might be stolen. The press isn't even talking about this issue or others like it. Makes one wonder why.

The media (in particular MSNBC) is also censoring valid ads like that from Brave New Pac in which citizens demand to know more about Sen McCain's health, particularly with Gov Palin on the ticket as the VP. MSNBC appears to have bowed to the pressure of FIX News on this item. Who else is pressuring this MSNBC's censorship is unclear.

Sen Obama supporters almost have to come out to vote in above record numbers to help ensure the Repugnants and establishments in the various states do not steal this election as they did in 2000 and 2004. It looks like they are positioning Ohio, Michigan or one of the other rust belt states to be the turning point this year under the guise that Obama just could not win over those "regular working blue collar stiffs".

This article remind me of where Obama spent 20 years of Sundays. Also that he, although being there, did not have any idea that the pastor was racist and anti-America. Not to mention, he wrote a book with this man, claimed this man was the very reason for who/where he was in his life, said he was his number one mentor, and put him on his election staff as his spiritual advisor. All the while not knowing he was not only selling DVD of his racism for profit, and according to Obama, "never discussed this subject with me". A lie that if ignored will bring us all down in the depths of a living hell.

I TOTALLY AGREE! Why are people ignoring this and other facts about this man that are unexcusable.

I am a 62 year old American of African descent who in 1960 partipated in protest demostrations because we could not sit at the lunch counter and eat in the Roses department store in my hometown. From the beginning of his campaign I did not believe Obama had a chance to win the democractic nomination for president simply because of his race. After Obama won the nomination and hearing his acceptance speech, I now believe he can win this election for president. I do hope that if he wins or loses all Americans accept the results and refrain from violence. We must keep in mind that NON-VIOLENT protest was a major factor in moving America forward to this point where Obama is able to compete for the highest office in this country.

I agree with you. If Obama loses the race, I don't understand what rioting and destructive behavior is going to achieve. I suggest we use the intelligence that Obama has shown and rise above the self-destructive behavior that punishes our race more so than any other in the end.

We are in such a state of disarray right now that only an idiot would continue to see this campaign as black or white. We are Americans first. Race has no bearing when it comes to paying our taxes, keeping our homes and who is hit with rocket launched grenades in Iraq. To say that black people would only vote for a candidate because he is black, is insulting. As Americans first, we all vote for the best man for the job .andserves our best interest.serves outr

To continue to make this election about race at this point is just sad.

90% of the black community are voting for Obama - hello!! Do you remember O.J. Simpson (8 people on his jury - black) and he got away with murder. Rodney King: Stupid, drug-addicted idiot. When he was found guilty the black community burned down, destroyed, looted their own community. The majority of black people are not objective - they have already threatened riots and a backlash if Obama doesn't win.

My family is from another country, and I dont remember any of my uncles, aunts, cousins, or anyone in my family ever having a entitlement mentality here in America. We always took responsibility for our successes and failures. So, dont try and say that everyone in America has a entitlement mentality, thats just not true. My whole family went against the tide of learning a new language and working very hard up stream to make a good living for our families.

Obama is good for everyone...those of you who what 4 more years of the same, go ahead vote for your man...McCain. Haven't you had enough! If McCain is elected it is because no matter what, you are narrow minded and would vote for Bush if he were able to run again. Republicans, Democrates and Independents I ask you to seek the facts...stop voting for your ticket only for the sake of that. Educate yourself and do the right thing.

If you think Obama is so great think about his plans for increasing taxes, not just on the rich as he has stated, but his plan is includes increasing the Fica tax (the amount witheld from your paycheck for Social Security and Medicare) increased fuel taxes, increasing the death (inheritance) tax, an increase on capitol gains tax (which will effect many middle class who have investments accounts, plus many more items. Did you know when he mentions taking from the rich, many of whom have started at the bottom and worked day and night to attain there status today and giving back to the middle class it includes a $500.00 credit on taxes per person and a check of $500.00 per person who are not required to pay taxes. That means they have not contributed to the treasury in any way but will get a refund. Now where will that money come from? If you over tax some of the wealthy business owners, have you thought about how they will adjust for that. Well think how many will loose jobs or how much will not be reinvested into their business or into the economy. Look up his plan and do a thorough read then tell me a struggling middle class woman where the good is. He will cost all of us. We are business owners and if I am taxed more some major decisions will have to be made concerning the business. I will not vote for Sen. Obama because of his plans for this country not because of race. That is lame.

Although I ABSOLUTELY agree that the world would be a better place if Bush Jr. was never born, the fact is that it is not the past 4 years that brought America down. As an Independant, I look at the facts from both sides. In 1999, it was Clinton's effort to help the poor which directed Freddie Mac and Sallie Mae give mortgages to those who could not afford it... in the past few years, this act is what brought our economy to where it is today. The congress of the past two years has done less than any congress in our history, resulting in a rating lower than even Bush's. Obama is a great orator, but being awesome at speaches is not going to get us anywhere. McCain hates Bush, he had to emrace him for polital sake in order gor the GOP to fund his campaign. Although I cannot stand Palin (seems lost), Biden made a complete turn around for his open distain for Obama during the primaries; making him untrustworthy. Based soley on his intention of continuing his positive stance on veteran's programs for those of us who are war vets, I think I have decided on McCain... it will not be 4 years of the same, but change will be extremely slow.... we probably won't see much during the next administration, the following one will probably reap the benefits... after all, we are only now seeing the affect of Clinton's mismanagement

Another poorly written and leading article from the leftist Newsweek magazine and blog spot. I liked the quote "as tight as Sarah Palin's smile". What do women / feminist / Hillary supporters think about that statement? Senator Obama has rarely and rarely been lessened due to his charisma, which is as it should be. I'm interested in voting record and ability of the candidate to work with both sides of the party aisles. For those key factors, Senator McCain is by far the best candidate. He was the leader in gaining bipartisan approval in the Senate of Supreme Court and federal judge appointments and is the Congress' top watchdog on wasteful government spending, even more so fighting his own Republican Party.. Senator Obama has voted "Present" on over 100 Senate votes in his short time in the US Senate, which to me shows an elitism that such issue was not worthy of a vote by him. More importantly, he was voted the most liberal member of the US Senate by the most recent Congressional voting study pattern. That being said, I think he is a good man and would be an instrumental person in easing tremendous racial tensions in this country. Not since the great MLK has a black or white politician come on to the scene, that has the stature and respect for this monumental task.

tetons63, obviously you are a republican. I understand your way of thinking. It's typical of republican thinking. If the Newsweek articles are so repulsive and offensive to your right wing thinking, then do you read and argue with them. Anyone that reads is aware of right wing media and left wing media. Incidently, I am a woman and agree with the the description of Palin's smile. Does she have any other emotion? It makes it appear that she is hiding something. I believe any sort of charisma she may have had, when McCain first introduced here, is dimming. She needs to do more study about the issues facing America, she could become president, and from what I've seen the few times the GOP has allowed her to talk with the media, she's trouble for you. Just being a female is not enough! She is no Hillary Clinton! About the records of the two men running for president. McCain in 26 years has been unable to live up to the name of "Maverick" or "bi-partisan" that your party coined for him. "Bully" is more appropriate. He has a history of using curse words, threats and other like techniques to try and get his way. And if he had so much influence, as you and your party members claim, he failed as the "watchdog of wasteful government spending," because our republican president and McCain has lead us into the most devestating financial crisis in decades. Now you can put lipstick on a pig, bug it is still a pig. You can spout off your republican talking points all you want, but we are not stupid. Now, about Obama, maybe his fresh, new, and 21st thinking approach would be a better bargain. Almost anything else buy Bush-Mccain would be. And about his helping to settle racial tensions in America, it's impossible. Bigotry and racism is primarily a psychosis sickness that some white Americans continue to suffer. Maybe you know one of your republican colleagues should take over that job. Black people vote, overwhelmingly, for democratic candidates for president, be the candidate white, green, blue, yellow or red. It is the white democrats who are showing their racial resentment by refusing to vote for their nominee. At America's best, race should not even be a question!

This article has no good intent. There is no good that can come from an article like this. It only brings out the worse of our insecurities and fears on both sides. I am a 39 year old African American. I support Obama because he is exceedingly qualified and represents my views, so was Bill Clinton, Al Gore and all other white politician I supported. I respect most of the efforts that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton have made in the arena of civil rights, I would not support them for President of the United States. Obama has a sensitivity for all American???s who aspire for the American dream in which he stands as a clear representation. I think the anxiety in African American relates the fear that the American Dream may be only a dream. This is many African American???s first opportunity to believe or see the dream realized. And believe it or not African Americans are very proud to see so many white Americans give Obama chance. Obama is a candidate all American's can be proud with out the filter of race.

You missed the point harley ............ if obama wins, we will learn to live with it, even though we disagree with the verdict. We just wont be burning down houses and destroying buildings while we disagree. We will have a more diplomatic approach.
Someone earlier mentioned Gen. Colon Powell ,,,,,,,, now I would have had no problem voting for this gentleman; but in similar words of a previous candidate ........ WE ALL KNOW COLIN POWELL, AND OBAMA AINT NO COLIN POWELL.

I'm white and I will vote for Obama. If he loses I will think that the majority of the people in this country are stupid or crazy. I do not want 4 more years of Bush type politics delivered by a man with a hair trigger temper or Probably by a woman who has scared me. I seriously doubt that McSame will live through his presidency and I hope and pray that the USA will not have Palin/McClain in the white house. If Obama loses then I will try to get over the lose by making sure that Obama wins in 2012. People saying things like their not sure what they will do if Obama loses or their not sure what will happen if Obama loses just piss me off with a chicken way of blackmail or what else it could be called I'm not sure. If people don't vote for Obama because of his race then that's just plain stupid or dumb or KKK type of BS and shame on them.

My wife and i make over 150k a year becuase, we got our degree's while serving in the army. We took better paying jobs with long hours and hard work. Now we work for a Major Company, and started OUR own bussiness, that employs several races. Personal empowerment, striving for something greater, not by sitting around complains that we cant get a fair shake. One person at a time, one choice at a time. Dont be folled into saying becuase it's time, were do, or there gonna give us something. Given items lose value quickly, earned items, and personal power last a lifetime.

unitingIdeology- Russia has plenty of openings. the only thing you are uniting is people against Obama and the racial Democrats who favor and champion the most far from center policies they can find. By the way, if all rich people are investing else where, Who is it that most of us work for? Who? Do you work?

I sincerely wish the views expressed in the article represent a very small minority of the black population. A strong theme of democracy is to do what is best for the whole. Understanding that the country is best served by a leader that acts on behalf of the greater good of ALL. This is one of many reasons Iraq is such a challenge to democratize; folks don't care about their neighbors but more about their own group. This article portrays blacks as a special interest group based solely on color.
Do I believe that Obama is going to show favortism toward blacks? Not for a minute. Do I believe that McCain will show favoritism to whites? No. This about SO MUCH MORE than race! The same should be said about sex (who really cares if the better candidate were a woman)?
I too will be disappointed, angered and embarrassed if Obama loses. I felt the same deep anger when Florida put GW Bush into the white house and even more so when the country voted yes to a second term!
I'm voting Obama because I believe he and Biden are the stronger ticket. For the record, I'm white.

I'm so sorry to have to wake us all up. It was so nice while it lasted. HOWEVER please keep in mind the following:

    1. We are in America. The good, Best, Brightest, Most Qualified, usually DON'T win or make it to the top.
    2. Gore LOST!!!
    3. Kerry LOST!!!
    4. This country elected George Bush TWICE! Yes that's right TWICE!!!
5 Al Gore and John Kerry. (Both fine individuals and also very intellegent) should have won but didn't.
    6. The Republicans are simply EVIL incarnate. They worship money and power and will do ANYTHING
to keep it. They use thier code words like "liberal", etc. to try to demonise anybody of concience.
And this is very effective and goes unchallenged in the media.

    7. They have literally stolen the last 2 elections with the help of the DiBold voting machines. The process has
been well documented in HBO documentary film. The repubicans and power elite have found a way to fix
elections (a. make it seem close- e.g. media polling) and then have it come down to the last 2 or 3 states
(with the rigged Dibold voting machines. After election, no questions will be asked.
    8. After IRAQ, KATRINA, $700B bailout, $4 gas prices, ENRON, speculators driving up prices of oil,
rising deficit, etc.....and the polls have it CLOSE!!!!!.
    9. NEVER IN HISTORY has a sitting president had dis-approval numbers of 82%. but it's "Close".

    10. It doesn't matter if he wins or not at this point. After a $700B bailout of wall street executives, his
administration won't have money to do hsit for anybody black or white!!!!
    11. The repubicans have the country at gunpoint right now on the bailout and it seems thier Democratic
partners are equally working to ensure that either he or McCain inherits a bankrupt goverment.
(Lets see how much "change" is gonna happen when your Trillions of dollars in debt)?
    12. I pray I am wrong about all of this. But if I know my good old reliably racist, stupid, easily fooled America
with the short memory, this party is soon going to be over for all of us. And the spineless
Demoncrats will let them get away with it yet again.

    13. I am sorry to put all this negativity out there. But I know how I felt after Gore and Kerry lost and I vowed I
would never fall for this election crap again....And then came Barak (our modern day JFK or Bobby Kennedy)
some of what they had is in him.

    Freedom101

I Really, Really hope and pray I'm wrong about all this. He would be just what the country needs now (if he were all European, white I would still say the same thing).

The race with John McCain is as tight as Sarah Palin's smile? This was the year that saw media bias devolve into outright vile - they don't even bother to try to hide it anymore.
