The huge Wall Street banking bailout makes the whole election a moot point. Obama will not be able to fund anything he is talking about. McCain will have -0- money to do anything, in case he's promising more veterans benefits, either.

No one will have any money to spend on social programs, beyond what we already can't afford. Cuts will have to take place, no matter who's elected.

So --Now that it DOES NOT matter who is elected, what will we be concerned with?
I suggest we all work on spelling. Why is it no one can spell definitely correctly?

    It's: D - E - F - I - N - I - T - E - L - Y

No 'A' in definitely, people. DEFINITELY not.

Well Keep being worried, because, John McCain and Sarah Palin are going to be leading our country.
Obama cannot lead this country with the claim of change cause he is idealistically ignorant as exhibited on the debate this past Friday. He has no clue about tactics of war and that's what we need. The experience of a man that has been there and trained in military tactics can and will lead this country to peaceful coexistence with the world powers and our financial structure on wall street will be changed as well.
He knows how and doesn't succumb to peer pressure as well as money figure pressure, such as he has done with the Chicago rich women's club.
McCain is as real as real can get and will do what all you Obama people want O to do and much better than O.
And the fact that he is half black has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he is not YET ready to lead our nation. He's a little boy that wants to play with the big boys that knows what and how to do it.
Just FYI , I am middle class and know McCain is out there for ME!

Really, all this hate-talking is pathetic. I think the ultimate irony would be for God to reincarnate us all in theother man's skin color just for us to gain perfect balance.

I happen to be a very interested non-resident U.S. citizen and I can rell you, the rest of the world can see what some of you Obama-haters (for whatever reason) cannot seem to acknowledge. The man is smart as a whip, he has good judgment and his short political resume (compared to McCain's long Washington experience) is actually an asset when a country is in a change election mode.

I am an HR manager by profession and I can tell you, the people with the most "experience" are not always the best performers. In fact, In my 20 years of interviewing and hiring candidates for various jobs, sometimes the ones with long years of experience have often been the least adaptable and most resistant to change. Typically, one would look for competencies such as decision-making, judgment, leadership and these can be gleaned in more ways than one. Certainly, the way each candidates campaigns have been run is a good indicator as to how they will govern. Obama has demonstrated a very disciplined, fiscally responsible bottom-up, grassroots approach. One of the best I've seen in my 40-plus years. Mccain (and Hillary Clinton, for that matter) were running on experience so their campaigns exhibited a less disciplined, more erratic style, hence changing themes to jump on Obama's bandwagon with the change/reform platforms.

From what I have observed of McCain it seems to me change would be hard for him to handle.

First of all lets get one thing straigt, Africa is a continent made up of many countries, not a country unto itself. I can see racism in every side of this equation. No doubt bringing Africans here from Africa against thier will, and put into slavery was wrong. But, most of the "capturing" in Africa was done by blacks, who profited handily. However much white mans blood was spilled to give them freedom, (please don't give me that socio-econmic crap). To have deprived blacks the right to vote was not right, however, women of all colors could not vote nor own property until recent history. What blacks are doing in some countries in Africa is not much different than what is going on in some eastern european nations, or So America as well.
Lets face facts, racism is a part of our culture, but thankfully much less a part than 200 yrs or 100yrs or even 50 yrs ago. In my 68 yrs I have seen great strides and my children and grandchildren will see even more. Only a fool thinks racism can be legislated out of people. When I was young, the N word was pervasive. As I matured and had my own family, the N word was NEVER spoken in my home and of course my kids and thiers are way ahead of the curve. Both sides, have to stop the rhetoric, look at themselves honestly, without an agenda, and move on to diminish and eventually end racism. Hell, the Kurds hate the Sunni, the Rednecks hate the Northerners, the McCoys hate the, oh well, you know how it goes, but the next generation gets it a little better and so on.

You have made some valid points about difference in world cultures. I'd like to add that in all species of animals "racism" can be found, not just human beings. It has to do with survival and evolution. I'd like to add that our culture has put much focus on putting our racial differences aside. Many of us had changed how we think, feel, and behave, hoping to make necessary changes in our world. I have no issue with the color of Obama's skin. I have an issue with his affiliations with America haters. I cannot express how appauled I was at the "GD America" comment from Obama's pastor of 25 years, Rev. Wright. I find I cannot forget this.

I just love the "We are owed" mentality of this article. Lovely. No idea how to "earn it" like the Hispanics, Poles, Irish, Germans, or any of the other once upon a time minorities that worked their way up. Just the old African American "We are owed" BS. Love it. No wonder you are where you are.

LEARN TO EARN YOUR WAY. NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING.

White, Black, Brown... Who cares! Obama has idea's the will take our country in the better direction. I'll tell you how to feel if he looses. Disappointed. It's how I felt when Bush won the last two elections. I'm a white, 35 man. I've been out knocking on doors the last several weekends getting people registered to vote and registered to vote early. If you want Obama to win, get off you butts and go help his campaign out. Stop whining about how under represented your racial community is. I'm sick of hearing how race and gender have some important part in this election. It really comes down to, can you get all your friends, family, and neighbors out on election day to support Obama...

Obviously when a segment of our society finds hope after years of frustration in being excluded from the American Dream there is going to be mass dissapointment from those disenfranchised person, and we are not just talking from the African American populace. Obama is seen as a champion of their cause and his defeat may involve more than you excpect. There is a good percentage of the US population seething about the past eight years and now this bailout. We would be naiive to expect the populace as a whole to embrace McCain and yes there may be some civil disobediance. If McCain wins he is going to feel it full force should he try to pull a neocon move in the future, I just do not think it can happen because the people just got too close to some major change.

Tredividm...your comments show the complete ignorance of many white folk, or people who align with the white majority mainstream ideologies (people of color can do this as well). Slavery is still completely relevant in this society. Why shouldn't each individual be afforded an equal opportunity. When we believe that not everybody should, it is not the majority of white America that suffers, it is poor folk and people of color. Luck has nothing to do with the inequality in this society. It has everything to do with the historical implications of the oppressive structures operating within society. As a white person, I wish more white folk would educate themselves...racism still operates to advantage some and disadvantage many (sexism, heterosexism, and many other problematic elements persist as well).

Blacks are 12% of the population - not 50%. So comments like "You think white people were just going to turn over the keys to the most important job in the land without a fight?" from the ignoramus in Houston are ridiculous. The fact that Obama has a shot is because a number of white people - like me - or Asians - like my wife - are voting for him. If you are black you need to shed this racist attitude of 'us blacks' and the belief that just because a vote doesn't go your way there is malicious intent behind it.

It is sad that anyone believes the Presidency has anything to do with color / race. What's BEST for the country is what matters. And if Barack Obama is elected we will see lots of change alright. And not necessarily good either. For a man who has in the past NOT supported the USA and America I have a serious problem with that. I don't care if he or she is white, black or green. When asked why Obama didn't salute our flag and stand during the anthem his reply was....'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking
sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the
American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a
war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should
be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song
'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might
    salute it.'

Anyone I vote for WILL be willing to 'Take Sides' the OUR flag, the flaf of the United States of America. Our current FREEDOMS came with a price and that price was those who fought for our nation and many gave their lives.

On another note......if you study 'Socialism' and how it works you'll understand what could happen to the USA if someone like Obama is elected.

Last thing.....I'm not saying that McCain is perfect but I do believe he'll side with the USA its citizens and that he will fight to protect our capitalistic democracy.

This is the most racist article I have ever read. Also, the threats of what will happen if Obama loses is over the top. People with knowledge vote on the issues, not race. Judging from the way the people quoted in this article feel, I'm more scared if he wins. It will be very divisive for the nation. This is very eye opening and shows how the pendulum has swung back and now we have a black racist problem, not white.

How can a man with his limited credentials be qualafied for that position. He cannot even articulate specific answers to debate questions... all he says is he will be different than GWB. At least Mcain tells us how he will be different...Making Washington accountable....higher tax credits for dependent children....cheaper health care...competitive defense contracts...no pork barrell spending...the list goes on. Listen to the canidates not the media.

I find this to be less a story than a (not so subtle) veiled threat. I also don't think I want to applaud drug addicts and criminals registering to vote. That isn't my opinion on African Americans, it is my opinion on the people this story portrays as Obama supporters.....Do I want to stand behind a candidate addicts on criminals are supporting? Is that who I want making decisions for my family.

    hey cheney/satan'08.

May God bless America and have mercy on us, all! I am dismayed to read the statement from Michael Baisden that reads 'How do we change our futures now that we have someone who might actually care about us in the race?'. We should be electing a President who actually cares about ALL people, regardless of race, color or creed?! It's very irresponsible and unethical to vote for a candidate based on their skin color or ethnicity rather than their qualifications, morals and standing on issues that are important to all the people of our country. The color of their skin should not even enter the equation. Isn't this just reverse racism? Isn't this just as bad as NOT voting for Senator Obama based on the color of his skin?! Not that it should matter, but why does everyone continually seem to forget that he is bi-racial...black/white?? Or maybe he's white/black...who cares! But, of course, it does matter to some people and this type of mentality is exactly what continues to keep bigotry and racism alive in our country. Is there any person out there who seriously believes Senator Obama stays up at night saying to himself "Oh yeah, I can't wait to be President, then I'll show those white people what's what! It's going to be all about "us" now!" Get real people. Give him the respect and credit he is due. Shame on anyone who promotes this type of archaic thinking. It is our responsibility and priviledge to vote, but please, whether you vote for Obama or McCain, vote responsibily!
"We must all learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish together as fools."

If Obama wins it would be that enough white folks voted for him. What do you call Black people that would not vote for someone because of their skin color, a black racist, or is it only white people are racist. To my black brothers and sisters, let us take responsibility for ourselves. We may feel good about a Black President, but the bottom line is are we going to be any better off. Only time will tell.
